An incomplete map.
Former SEAL, Paxton Pierce, is satisfied being the tech portion of a security firm. He sees emotions as messy. But every inch of him becomes protective of Veronica Lang, the youngest of three sisters who have inherited their grandfather’s Texas ranch.
No difficulty following the threads when I dropped into this series at the third title. Ms. Cross gives hints of previous stories without slowing the action in this one.

This was a western romance.
This story is about a special ops veteran named Paxton Pierce. He has made it obvious that he doesn’t want to be Veronica Lang’s bodyguard. Fieldwork would only stir up the memories that he wanted to escape when he moved into tech. A man from her father’s past pulls a gun on her every instinct in his body tells him to protect her. He has to follow her on a perilous hunt for hidden treasure. His training should keep her safe unless the attraction between them becomes a deadly distraction. There was action in this story but the romance wasn’t front and center in this story in my opinion.

Enjoyed this book.
The MCs were great together and their characters were well written.
The FC realised that it wasnt about finding the treasure but herself. She could only accept others when she accepted and believed in herself.
She’d always thought this treasure hunt was about more than finding gold. It was about finding herself. Somewhere she’d lost sight of that

Well done plot - at least one of the twists was easily anticipated - but great twists and turns.
Really nice to see a book about cybersecurity and coding which did not dumb down the technology but assumed readers do have some knowledge there!
