Love love and love this story!! We all have struggled with grief and fear at some point in our lives, it can be overwhelming and try to drag us under. Thank goodness that we have a God that is bigger than all of our fears, He longs to help us through them. We only have to ask Him, He wants to hold us close to His heart.
I'm never disappointed with a book written by Jill Kemerer! I know I'll read a story that's heartfelt, emotional, full of faith and has that sweet happily-ever-after I'm looking for. This one also has two furry friends who add an extra layer of personality & cuteness!
I've enjoyed a few of the K-9 companion series books put out by Love Inspired so I was familiar with some of past characters mentioned. I love the town of Jewel River, a tight knit small community that bands together & where everyone knows everyone. Ashlinn has moved there to start her life over & prove to herself and her parents that she can function on her own, regardless of her physical condition that limits her ability to live a normal life. With the help of her medical alert service dog Peanut, her goal of independence is well within her reach. Ty volunteers at the training center for dogs and where he first meets Ashlinn. Having lost his finance six years ago due to cystic fibrosis, he's become a hermit sheltering himself on his ranch. Getting involved with another woman is never going to happen for him, he won't risk his heart again. However, it's love at first sight with Fritz, a service dog who he fosters for a weekend & finds his forever home with. These two allow fear to trap them in a life of isolation, but when they get thrown together time after time, they begin to help each other heal in ways they never saw coming.
Ty & Ashlinn are wonderful characters who have a lot to overcome! Grief can paralyze a person for a long time and living with a debilitating disease can taint a persons outlook on life. But what I love about this story, they both learn that God never stopped loving them or being by their side through all the storms. He put people in their path to help share the burdens and remind them of truth....and even a little kick in the backside when needed!
A wonderful story all around! I always look forward to a book written by this author.

I always enjoy talented author Jill Kemerer’s contemporary romances. She does such a great job of capturing the small-town camaraderie and concern for others that can exist in a locality where everyone knows each other.
His New Companion stars reclusive rancher Ty Moulten who has been grieving the death of his fiancée for six years, and Ashlinn Burnier who is the new assistant for the town’s service dog trainer. Ashlinn has a debilitating disease but has been able to get it quite well-controlled with the help of her service dog Peanut. Ty meets Ashlinn when he decides to adopt a service dog, Fritz. The two dogs are wonderful secondary characters, along with many townspeople who have starred in previous books by Kemerer. It was fun to see them appear in this story, all sporting their various personalities.
I liked the character development and the growth that Ty and Ashlinn made in overcoming their trials. The inspirational elements in the story added depth without being preachy. I would recommend this book to those who enjoy well-written contemporary romance.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
I enjoyed this story in the K-9 Companion Series. (Each is a stand alone) Author Jill Kemerer brought an interesting twist to it.
In this story we meet Ty, who is dealing with grief and guilt. He made a promise to his former fiancee which he is finding difficult to keep. I felt bad for him, yet at times wanted to shake him. His little foster dog, Fritz, ends up being a good service dog that Ty didn’t know he needed. Ashlinn has an illness that I’ve never heard of. The details that Kemerer gives us are very interesting, as is her service dog, Peanut, and how he was trained. Ty and Ashlinn need each other, and they don’t realize it. Is there a chance for healing and romance between these two wounded people?
I found the entire story not only interesting but very compelling. I’m not a dog person but enjoyed learning about two very different kinds of service dogs. I highly recommend it!
I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review. All thoughts are my own.
I absolutely LOVED His New Companion! As someone who dreams of becoming a dog trainer, I especially loved how Jill Kemerer portrayed the bond between humans and dogs in such a realistic and heartwarming way. Ty and Ashlinn’s story had me hooked from the very first page — the mystery kept me guessing, the faith moments were uplifting, and the romance was sweet without ever feeling overdone.
I really connected with how the dogs were trained and cared for, and seeing the service dogs play such an important role in the story made it feel so authentic. The characters felt so real — I wanted to cheer for them, cry with them, and celebrate their victories. The story was full of hope, healing, and faith, and it reminded me why I love reading clean, inspirational suspense books so much.
Honestly, this is a 10/10 for me — I didn’t want it to end, and I’ll definitely be looking for more books by Jill Kemerer. It’s inspiring, and full of heart. Highly recommend to anyone who loves mystery, faith-filled stories, or just a great dog-loving story
His New Companion is a Christian, inspirational romance. It stars Ty, grief stricken rancher, and Ashlinn, new administrative assistant at the service dog training center. Ashlinn has an interesting illness and a service dog that alerts her before an episode. Ash is determined to prove that with her dog she can be independent. Ty is organizing a fundraiser in honor of his deceased fiancee. They are repeated thrown together when TY agrees to foster a dog. Of course, Ty's new charge proves to be a huge comfort. It is amazing to watch these two dogs working so hard to get their humans back into life's main stream. With God and the dogs helping them heal, will Ty and Ash get a chance for an HEA? You will have to read this well written book to see how their romance plays out. I am always going to read anything Jill Kemerer writes because her books are so inspiring!
Jill Kemerer writes a heartfelt story that educates as it entertains. Her dogs in the story have quite the developed personalities and illustrate how they use their training to aid their people. Ashlynn Burnier comes to town with her therapy dog, Peanut, a golden retriever that is trained to sense when her blood pressure is dropping, to alert her so she can prepare to faint and not be hurt. Ty Moulten lost his fiancée, Zoey, before they were able to lmarry. She has been gone 6 yrs but he has been unable to move on. He has been rather reclusive, but his mom talks him into “fostering” a therapy dog, Fritz, a miniature dauchand that lost his owner. Ty and Fritz connect and it starts softening Ty. Ashlynn is fighting to be seen as more than her disease and Ty is fighting guilt of losing his promise to himself that he would always love Zoey.
This is a very moving contemporary Christian novel about two strong-willed individuals who are dealing with major issues.
The two canine companions featured in this book are amazing! Their abilities to alert their owners to changes in mood and a serious medical condition are admirable. Besides their 'official' duties, Peanut and Fritz are delightful dogs full of personality and affection for everyone!
This book is completely clean in language and content. The faith thread is subtle and well-written. This is the first book I've read by this author, and I hope to read more of her work in the future.
I borrowed this book from our neighborhood's Little Free Library.
I am an avid reader of Jill Kemerer’s book and have enjoyed each one. His New Companion is the final book in the Wyoming Legacies series. I loved every trip to Jewel River and keeping up with the characters that make up the town. Ty Moulten finally gets his happily-ever-after when he not only finds a girl, but also a sweet, little dog. Kemerer handles the stories of Ty and Ashlinn in a way that is both heart-tugging, but full of hope. Although each of them had determined not to get involved romantically with another person, God had other ideas. This book is filled with tender romance, fun times, and some loving canines that will have you laughing and crying. I was given a copy of this book by the author but was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.
A beautiful love story. Everyone has limitations of some sort. Learning to live with those obstacles and to allow others to journey with us can be difficult. In this heartwarming story, the reader is shown that true love can come at any time. This is one of my favorite books by Jill Kemerer. Dogs, people, love, and faith. Great combinations. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.
This is a well written book with great information and full of felling it had me reaching for the Kleenex several times and had me laughing. It shows there are many things service dog can help with and make People lives much better . I’ve enjoyed this series and look forward to the rest of the series.
A very sweet story, that deals with some pretty traumatic events, with some extremely amazing dogs! Okay, Ty Moulten and Ashlinn Burnier are pretty special, too. Seriously, a story to touch your heart. And then give it a good tug.
A sweet, small-town romance that includes two adorable service dogs! Ty & Ashlinn feel a spark as they plan a community event together, but they both have had trauma in their pasts and wonder if they have room for love in their future.
