Farm Animals

Rate this book
Nerves shredded, flesh torn, and the milking machine has been turned on… but whatever you do, don’t drink the milk.

Lower Crumbsbottom is surrounded by farmland, picturesque and serene. But take a picnic there at your peril. When Richard and Reggie go visiting, they get more than they bargained for. Kidnapped and forced into depraved procreative practices, Richard demands nothing more than to escape. Danny is searching for his brother, and Shirley is riding more than his bike.

Then there is Lewis and Maisie, and their children, Anton, Tim, and Jean, who all love each other very much.

And last is Daisy, who just wants to eat.

Farm Animals is an extreme horror novel that will undoubtedly upset those with delicate sensibilities. Consider this a trigger warning for everything.

Ok, so there’s a lot to unpack here. Like, a lot. Cannibal, inbred hillbillies, mutant pigs, a stupid amount of rape and gore, and just a mind-blowing amount of plot points. Ash Ericmore, much like Matt Shaw and Jon Athan, has written a huge amount of books at this point. Some good, some of lesser quality, but there’s always some great creativity and effort. And this was a very strong showing by the author. It exemplifies extreme horror in a very beautiful, yet disturbing way, finding a decent balance to all of its grisly content. If you’re a fan of The X-Files episode ‘Home,’ Texas Chainsaw, and The Hills Have Eyes, this should find a place on your to-read list.

Before I even get started…
What in the actual fuck is going on in the UK at the moment?
Sean Hawker dropped a pig book with Simon McHardy earlier in the year. Matt Clarke last month. Now, Nat Whiston AND Ash Ericmore, both drop a farmyard tale at the same time?
Suspicious…

Okay. Back to the book.
If you’ve read Ash’s work before, you know two things right off the bat:
1. Things WILL get ridiculous.
2. You’ll be left wanting EricMORE.

I almost feel like cabin fever’s starting to set in and get to ol’ Skeletor a wee bit, because it’s definitely looking like he’s slowly becoming even more unhinged.

Skully decided to dish out all the story archetypes for this one, so be ready to run the genrebender gauntlet.

This one’s a doozy, ladies and gents.
This one might actually strike a couple of nerves.
So, remember to have a slop bucket handy, because things get pretty messy.

You may laugh, you may cry, you may even get a good ol’ fashion shame boner (perverts), but one thing is certain, you’re in for one hell of a wild ride.

**Obviously it’s a 5 star read, but I’m throwing in a bonus star for referencing a cuck chair.

I got this as an audiobook from a reddit giveaway from Big Bear Audio. I thought this sounds interesting and it's free so why not, and the book turned out to be surprisingly great!

I'm not familiar with Ash Ericmore so I came in with no expectations, but I finished the book impressed and wanting to discover more of his work.

This is a story set in rural England which I instantly connected with as an inhabitant. Luckily I've not encountered anyone like the family featured in this book, but I was quickly drawn into this gruesome story to the point that I finished it in a day.

The plot follows a country family with nefarious intentions, and kidnaps those who wander too far into their backwood area. I dont want to give too much away so I'll just say that most trigger warnings apply to this twisted tale.

I find extreme horror very hit-and-miss but this really hit the mark, a well written story, with a thought-out plot and a very satisfying ending. This is a must for fans of the genre!

Vivid, brutal, twisted - and utterly fantastic!

Lower Crumbsbottom has everything you need for a break in the English countryside. The pub with very friendly staff; freedom to stroll across the farms and fields; no one to disturb you…and no one to hear you!

This is a fantastic read, revealed through multiple perspectives. The characters are so well drawn, which makes for an emotionally disturbing read - expect empathy; disgust; compassion and the most messed up and grotesque imagery, all in a fast paced page turner.

I need to lie down now.

I wasn't a huge fan of the style of writing. It felt very choppy, with a lot of short sentences. I thought I was going to give up on it in the first few chapters, but to be honest I'm glad I stuck it out. I got a bit more accustomed to the writing style, and the plot got more interesting. Some gnarly scenes, and I kind of want to meet Daisy 😂

Remember that movie Wrong Turn? Yup, this is like Wrong Turn but on cocaine. Or Speed. Absolutely loved and flew through the pages! Plenty of gore, violence, abuse and a piggy named Daisy.

Did you ever wonder what happens at some of these farm? In the middle of nowhere? You’re about to find out!

Reminds me of that Canadian Serial Killer Robert Pickton, who brought his victims to his farm and fed them to his pigs.

I’m honoured I got the chance to be on Ashs ARC team for this one.
I really enjoyed this.
Someone you love goes missing, what would you do? Go and search, right?
Well, that’s what Danny did, but little did he know what the outcome was gunna be.
He had an amazing sidekick, Shirley too.
Hillbillies never stood a chance.

What a bloody blast! Farm Animals had the wonderful balance of engaging, entertaining plot amongst plenty of gross situations and splatter. Ash Ericmore does such a great job of capturing the British humour and colloquialisms of the North vs South, it felt almost nostalgic to read. A ridiculous tale but so much fun.

This novella had wild narration from Big Bear Audio. It set the scene very well. I had not heard of the author, and as such had no expectations. I found the story to be well-written and lucid, unlike a lot of its sub-genre ilk. I became invested in the story as it went on and finished the book in a few hours, adding a couple of the author's other works to my TBR pile.

Ah nothing like refreshing jaunt in the country! Fresh Air, charming villages, unhinged locals!...
Ash Ericmore's Farm Animals is healthy reminder that no matter how bucolic, and quiet the rural British countryside may be, all it takes is driving down the wrong road, to come upon things that seem to fit in the rural environs, but are also deeply, terribly wrong.
Ericmore wastes no time letting the reader know exactly how things are. This is not a slow burn horror story. Indeed, very quickly the reader is presented with the reality of "Alright Sonny Jim, you're in the soup now!" the reader is left to see what nasty bits come floating to the surface.
What struck me the most about Farm Animals was not the true to form splatterpunk elements. Yes Ericmore digs elbow deep into the gore and fluids, that goes without saying. No, in fact it was in his writing of the people. The denizens of rural "Lower Crumbsbottom" feel like the the people you may pass in any small rural town. Whether they are aware of the disturbing nightmare in their midst is left to reader to decide. There may even be other nasty surprises nestled in other quiet corners of Lower CrumbsBottom. It's up to Ash Ericmore's discretion if my suspicions are ever validated.
I have never come across a farm family in a horror story presented with such matter of fact simplicity. This makes the events of the story that much more twisted end effective. This is their life, and their tightly interwoven family dynamic. Of course things are done this way, and your the crazy one for thinking it should be otherwise. In this way Ericmore will surprise you with a slew of extremely dark and messed up scenes that will leave you laughing. Like the Family in Texas Chainsaw, they are clearly people, in the midst of living their life. It's not them, but everyone else who suffers. My own personal head-canon has Farm Animals and Y.M. Miller's "There's Something in Your Mouth" playing out in a shared universe. Do yourself a favor and take a trip down on the farm and pet some Farm Animals .

Farm animals

Thank you so much to Ash for sending me the audible code for this! I absolutely love these kinds of books…that might sound weird but yes it intrigues me and instantly pulls me in!!

Richard & Reggie have gone for a weekend away, Reggie has been dying for a holiday, some alone time with Richard. The countryside wasn’t on her plans but with no other options she’s determined to make the most of it.

There’s not much to do in the sleepy little village so they decide to go for a lovely walk, have a look at some of the scenery, maybe sneak into one of the fields and have a little fun 😌

Luckily they don’t risk it as they soon bump into Maisie, a farmers wife, who tells them they’re more than welcome to pop to the barn if they get sidetracked….little do they know Maisie has plans for Richard, the farm isn’t run by lovely little farmers no…try cannibalistic, incestuous & absolutely deranged instead!

They soon find this out for themselves 🫣

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 i just absolutely love it when it kicks off from the very first page, it gave me the gore, the disgust and the depravity that I know and love within this genre 👌🏻

I’ve been a fan of Ericmore for a long time, Cadavers being my fav followed by his newest release the devils double & I’m loving the fact that he has enough books to keep that Ericmore fix happy 🤣

Available on KU, this is defo one I’d recommend 👏🏼🤎

Lower Crumbsbottom to the naive eye would appear to be the epitome of quaintness. Beautiful serene landscapes, very friendly bar staff in the local public house and farmers who don't mind if you fancy a picnic or two on their land.

Danny is on the search for his brother and has taken Shirley along with him, who doesn't know the real reason for his visit, but is up for some fun along the way. Danny's suspicions are raised when he speaks to the local barmaid who hints that he may have taken up some work on the local farm.

Lewis and Maisie the local farmer and his wife, and their children, Anton, Tim, and Jean are a very close family. Perhaps too close for some. What will Danny find on the farm if he decides to venture there. You'll have to read this fantastic book to find out more!

Ash Ericmore has an uncanny knack of transporting you into a world where everything appears pretty normal at first, but once you've allowed yourself to delve further, you find that things are certainly far from normal.

If you're easily upset then this isn't the book for you. It's pretty graphic, but at times hilariously so and very engaging. I literally couldn't stop reading it, and when I did, was eager to get back to it as quickly as I could to find out more.

Just a side note - Might be an idea to avoid drinking milk from this farm. Don't say I didn't warn you! ;-)

Ba-Ro Ash Ericmore doesn't just deliver, he brings the food in sets the table and spoon feeds your a$$ with this one.
Farm animals by Ash Ericmore

Y'all I am so excited right now, I literally just finished this book and am left feeling freaking great.
I read a lot of horror so that doesn't always awe me like this.
here we go!

Horror, splatter, triggers!
Not for the faint of heart or anything else.
However if you love horror the read this $hi!.
A story of depravity, blood, gore, loss and vengeance.
I actually lost calories during the suspenseful ending. But Ash gave me exactly what I wanted.
I mean I was scared to read, what was going to happen!
Now I want to read again! Literally.

So we follow a few different people in this story.
For one a messed up very "loving " family on the road to trying to conceive, beautiful right? Yeah, no!
We follow Richard and the love of his life, his wife Reggie on a holiday.
Biker, Danny and Shirley, what started off as a fling brings the two closer as Danny searches for his missing brother, with vengeance on the mind.
These three stories collide in the worst or best way possible, depending on the reader. 😉
Enjoy! I did!!

So! To start off.

I love rural folks as villains. I'm from the south in the US, and I gotta say, there is something disturbing about farms, especially when you are isolated. My brain was always making up what the neighbors were doing in their barns and out in the field rows for so long. Sometimes, they were just checking fence lines for breaks. Others, you could hear the squeal of...well. One neighbor raised pigs. The other, beef cattle. You can let your imagination draw up what the squealing was all about.

This book reminded me a lot of that instinctual dread I made up as a kid, and reinvented it as adult ones. Sexual abuse aplenty. Dehumanization. It was a great read/listen. The main antagonists very much dig into the 'Tiger Ridge' stereotype with incest, but I'm not upset about it! Just wish it could've been twisted more, but, with how it was incorporated into the plot, the decision makes sense.

Audio narration is fantastic as well.

Loved it

This was a real good exciting extreme read. The dubious little village, out in the sticks. Travellers roaming through, but do they ever get to leave? Danny is a biker and one of the main characters in this story and is on biking holiday driving through country villages and towns. Danny and a girl he recently met drive into the quaint little village and stop off to eat. Finding a pub first decide to stay and have a pint and some food. Another couple Richard and his girlfriend also stop off at the village staying at over have gone for a picnic in a field. Both couple soon find out things aren't all as they seem. Whilst Daisy at the farm is just waiting on her food, hungry as ever. Some great twists and terrible, grotesque happenings, with gross misconduct. Recommended fully!

I lose count of how often I have read the story of Appalachian inbreds terrorising (and often cannibalising) tourists in the backwoods of America. Quite refreshingly, FARM ANIMALS may be the first time I have experienced this kind of depravity set against the British countryside, complete with a cast of rural accents and flat-capped farmers, every bit as horrifying and depraved as their dungaree'ed cousins from across the Atlantic.

Of course, this story is great fun for fans of extreme horror junk-food (myself included), but I was also pleasantly surprised by the unexpected quality and effectiveness of some of its moments of suspense. I look forward to descending further down the Ash Ericmore rabbithole!

I'm just going to say that after reading this I felt dirty in every possible way.

You follow quite a few people in this one, the good, the bad and a piggy. You have a couple that just want to enjoy driving around and hanging out in places, another couple where one of them is looking for something and the family on the farm. The more you read, the more messed up it gets. There is a scene that I will never get out of my head and it involves a spoon. I really enjoyed the pacing in this and how it really ramps up at the end and enjoyed the kills in this one.
Thank you Ash Ericmore for the ARC of this, I need more farm horror.

WOW! Best book I have read in a while. Love the subtle hint of how Richard is treated to make the readers think about how livestock is treated for example how the family reference the victim is from good stock and the milking machine being used. The family has a very hills have eyes feel to them which is amusing, fun and sick. And omg the machine screen that was the most original thing I have ever read. Would definitely recommend any horror fan to read this was such a good read was finished in 2 days with is good for me.

This amazing author gave me an ARC of this novel.

DONT DRINK THE MILK.

Whatever you do. DONT drink the milk from this farm. This novel by far is Ash’s darkest most vile to date. I pride myself on not gagging, dry heaving or anything like that while reading extreme/splatterpunk. But this took it to a whole new level. I would 10000000 percent recommend anyone to read it. It’s nasty, and amazing.

Imagine this: an extreme thriller with a fucked up inbred family, revenge and a pig POV. That's this book. And it's amazing.
This isn't as gorey as Ericmore's usual, but still plenty fucked up. Absolutely loved the turn it took.

Don't drink the milk

Ash has a unique waybof pulling thr reader in and not letting go. The brutal actions taken against the victims in this one were painful to read as you fell everything that was happening. I'll never look at a farm the same way again
