Hello! It's fun to have you here, and I can't wait to share with you the stories I've written. (I think that's my favorite part about being an author is gushing over the books I write with other people!)
With that being said, not only am I an author, but a homeschool mom to four beautiful children, and married to the man who inspires most of the swoony scenes you'll read (insert sigh); which goes to say that I'm happily married and he's the best thing that's happened to me.
Along with writing books, I love art (hence my children's books), photography, trying to new recipes, and going on adventures! (Cruises, hikes, strawberry patches, Disney...you name it! We just recently went to Universal Studios (Harry Potter World) and LOVED it!
I love getting out and exploring the beautiful earth my Heavenly Father has created for me and hope to explore Europe one day. (Gotta see those castles for inspiration ;)
I was woefully disappointed. The premise is adorable, but the author didn't build on it. Descriptions were bland, the characters were bland and had nothing distinguishable.
The storyline, ruined Lady finds generous employer and falls in love was treated very poorly. This was a little like a Disney movie, where they fall in love simply in the duration of one song, which I find particularly unrealistic, even for a fantasy setting.
I do have to give 2 stars, because the author shows great potential to write beautiful romance novels. Three scenes in the book had me swooning for the mmc, but that was quickly cut short by the way too messy plot.
This entire reading experience felt as if somebody is dragging me through it like I'm some kind of stubborn donkey and nothing is really paid attention to.
Eveb the big reveal at the end was rushed and her emotions, her well being, her way of thought was put into a handful of sentences and magically there is a happy end, which could have also been about as realistic, the first time they met.
I regret spending money on this, due to the sheer amount of grammar and spelling. Every page, there was a missing word. Not just three or four times, but on every page.
I my opinion, the premise of this book was not done justice and I recommend using the current story as a very very rough first draw. I'd love to give it a new try if it was a smoother experience.
There are some serious grammatical errors. Like, she 'dawned' her outfit instead of 'donned' it. There are also some very modern phrases used in what should be a period piece where no one would ever say "I got this" or talk about "the bad guys". The characters felt very flat and I wished there was more feeling in this novella. BUT I also wished it was longer. Events were glossed over and I wanted more. Why were random bad men at their house? What was happening in her heart while she was thinking about the Duke? What happened next after she went to him? I would have liked this to be longer and more involved. :)
A year one English Lit piece of creative writing angst. It is poorly placed in the Regency period as it has absolutely no features of that era whatsoever. The characters speak 21st century American English and behave like millennials, as well. The author has zero understanding of societal norms which, even for a fantasy, should make an appearance. This is a poorly written fairytale for young teens. Anyone more mature will be bored and irritated beyond endurance.
This is really the typical vampire romance trope. But I quite enjoyed it. There were some discrepancies in Regency propriety, but this is also a fantasy so I can let that slide. Romance was sweet and endearing. I would recommend this book. The only thing that disturb me was that I hope she gets turned to a vampire eventually but maybe that'll happen in the sequel. Because you don't want the one character to die and the one living forever cuz that would stink. But like I said there's a sequel. Overall it's nice low angst fantasy read
I really love the story and idea of this book and appreciate the characters. It's a good book if you like fantasy and historical romance. However I feel like it could have used more building of the characters connection with each other and the ending was incredibly abrupt. I just wish more was added to make the story feel complete and the characters relationships more believable.
3.5 stars. This is the first book I read by the author. While the story pulled me in, there is a serious lack of proofreading. I have now read quite a few of the author's books as they are available on KU, and her writing/proofreading improves tremendously over time. Also the cover is quite different on Amazon.
Changed to 2.5 star rating . I really wanted to love this . I liked it at the beginning . There were too many grammar and phrasing errors . It did not read like it was in the regency era due to modern language used . I felt like the story was rushed . The characters didn't have enough interactions to justify their feelings . I'm very disappointed .
I’m giving it 4 stars because the story is compelling. Since it was short, felt rushed and she didn’t really explain how much time was passing. Also, the writing felt a bit juvenile.
