A good read for those that like fantasy but like romance more. Like if you get impatient when fantasy book drone on about a big upcoming war and want to get back to the relationship drama. Then this is a great book for you. Decent world building I think the second book will have more plot and actually events which I am looking forward. But we love and respect our down bad queen Violet aka Violence 🫡
I absolutely adore how the dragons are written in this book, and the relationship between a dragon and a raider is soo beautiful, especially with Tairn and Violet, I love it. The world is fascinating and the ending twist in both books is mind blowing and keeps you up at night wondering what happens next. Although in my opinion there is one minus, but it's just my preference, the relationship between Xaden and Violet is way too se*ual. Overall it's an amazing romantasy

I wanted to love this but I couldn’t. It was a good plot and would have been amazing but her writing really got me. You’d turn a page and skip three months, with little depth on anything. Overall not a waste of a read but wouldn’t recommend :/
took me pretty much the whole year to finish this one because the start was so bad in my opinion. however the second half really did it for me, in particular xaden. i thought at the start it was too much like divergent but by the end thought it was too much like hunger games. like at the end “welcome to the revolution” is just screaming catching fire (i think that’s the one) and im like come on, but also come on, give it to me. im a sucker for dystopian shit. anyways i will be going back to a book set in todays time just because the dragons was a lot but now that i think about it i loved xadens ability to talk to violet all the time.
shit review by me but those are just my thoughts xo

In love with Violet & Xaden. It’s nice to have a character with a chronic illness and who isn’t perfect from the start as watching the characters grow throughout the two books was perfect.
I loved this so much. It was somewhat like the trill of reading Throne of Glass for the first time. So much action and adventure. Violet pissed me off sometimes but I still love her.
Wow not my normal read but I was rooting for Violet from the beginning...I got the feeling she obviously has a body issue which I believe it's Heds which is what I have so it made it slightly more relatable....she reminded me of Aria from Game of Thrones ...I enjoyed reading something of the fantasy genre so much I actually ordered Iron Flame and Onyx Storm so I now have the set as well as a new author to enjoy... Rebecca Yarros thank you ☺️ for submersing me into the realms of fantasy...It was described as Hunger Games meets 50 Shades so here's to finding out the on/off attraction between Violet and Xaden!!! Would recommend to anyone especially if you fancy a complete change of direction in your reading taste X
Love the world building I really can’t put it down (sadly) cause the MC is insufferable pick me (not talking about her bodies limits we love to see EDS representation!!) and I swear I thought she’s supposed to be 15 not 20. Honestly impressive to write a book with that amount of annoyance but still addictive enough to finish it in 2 days
ARE U KIDDING ME!?!?!? easily one of the best books i’ve read. The story is insane without Xaden and Violets love story development & then to add that in to the mix????? fucking phenomenal. Incredible plot, twists, enemies to lovers story…. could not put this book down & i am so so so excited to read Iron Flame. Astonishing
This book is the best book ever. I loved every second of it, and Xaden is...I can't put it into words how much I love this book and the characters, even though it broke me in the end. Iron Flame was even better 🔥
Imagine being a chronically ill book nerd who just wants to live her cozy little life in the library, when suddenly your war general mother says, “Surprise! You’re going to dragon murder school.” Violet Sorrengail, who has the physical endurance of a Victorian child with consumption, gets thrown into a place where tripping means death and stairs are considered an act of war.
Everyone here is either a sociopath, a supermodel, or both. Also dragons are real, and they talk (telepathically, of course) and will straight up explode you if they don’t like your vibes. Violet somehow survives day one, despite her bones being made of paper straws and everyone trying to kill her for sport.
Enter Xaden Riorson, the human equivalent of a Tumblr bad boy fan edit. He has tattoos, trauma, daddy issues, and a full-time job in smoldering. His flirting strategy is “glare at you until you feel judged into attraction.” Naturally, Violet falls for him while also trying not to die, fail her classes, or get roasted alive (literally).
The worldbuilding is intense, the dragons have sass, and the plot twists are dropped like "oops, all trauma" cereal. Just when things start to make sense, a revelation at the end hits like a frying pan to the face and boom. Cliffhanger.
The fandom? Fully unhinged. If you say anything less than “Xaden is a god,” they will find your IP address and hiss at you in draconic.
Final verdict: No notes. Except for the death. And the flying. And the casual genocide. But otherwise, solid

Though the books can be a little childish at times, I cant put them down and absolutly love them! Yes, Violet can be childish at times, but she is made to be a realistic 20 yr old. Not some perfect MC that always dose the right thing. I felt some parts were a bit draged out, but when you read more you totally get the importance of each word. The forshadowing, world building, caracters, secrets and love are all amazingly crafted in this book. I have so many theories about the plot (read some on reddit), witch might me my favoritte part about the emperyan series.
All in all, this is a total banger, and if FW second half and IF first half was a book, it would be my favoritte of all time. (Mostly because of the love story)
Forth Wing - Stan Tairn. The story was good and interesting. Loved the descriptions of the arena and characters. The story Pace was nicely done. Kept me intrigued. Iron Flame - too long for it's own good. Took forever (300 pages) for the plot to advance and the climax point was too fast paced. It didn't leave you a lot of time to catch on on what's going on. The fights were annoying since it was always about the same thing. Barely any growth in sight at 1st but it started to progress. Still alot of secrets though the ML and FL keep saying "no more secrets". But overall it was good. The plot twists were well done (like V, by X)

I loved the setting it was really nice. 5 stars for fantasy- romance however was a little ehhhhh. Some explicit parts which were very very hot. My only issue is that if it’s an enemies to lovers slowburn and then it turns into a “oh I’ve loved you the whole time/since the first time I saw you..” ruins it for me. Characters are very nice. Xaden was top tier but Violet kind of annoyed me sometimes. Overall very fun read though. It’s entertaining. Original rating is 3.5 not 4 because I’m also not a big fan of the writing style.
LOVED IT!! never been hooked into a book like this before (i am a novice for reading, especially fantasy). it’s a great intro book for wanting to get into fantasy reading when you have no idea what to look for. i was so heavily invested very turn had me shook though some were a little predictable! XADEN!!! lord have mercy, his character is great i love and will (i hope) continue to love witnessing his character unfold. the mysteries and what ifs in this book is amazing, always having me thinking of what could happen next! can’t wait to read the next!

To be honest, I haven’t read the sequel yet, but I did read Fourth Wing. It’s definitely a fast-paced fantasy, I flew through the 650 pages surprisingly quickly. That said, it felt a bit too teenage-y for my taste, and probably a little overhyped on social media. I can see the appeal, but I’m not sure I’ll be picking up the next book, if I’m being honest.
i get the hate. a few things don't really make sense and the relationship of violet and xaden is really dependant on the physical aspect. BUUT.. i loved it. the world, characters and plot really got me hooked and i read it SO FAST. if you're looking for a well written literary masterpiece this is not for you, but if you're looking for fun and games i would recommend it 100%
OBSESSED! These books are absolutely incredible and so well written! If you love game of thrones, then this is the book for you, even if you don't like reading yet, pick this book up and give it a try. However, they have done some serious damage to my heart.
