All Beverly Short knows about herself is her name and what she can see in the mirror. She is told that she was in a car accident and her memory loss is the result of a brain injury. She is told that she lives in the picture-perfect town of Wayward Pines where she works at the local pub.
When her memories come back, she is terrified. She lives in Boise. She works for IBM. She has a boyfriend she’s planning to marry.
She knows she has never been to Wayward Pines before. She knows she just met the people claiming to be her friends and neighbors. Why are they all lying to her? And why does the sheriff stop her every time she tries to leave?
In this first-person perspective in the style of a journal, Beverly writes about her time in Wayward Pines. Even knowing what happens to her in advance (from the original books), the ending is still chilling.
