I'm Amie Nichols, and this is my bio. I live in Iowa with my amazing, supportive husband. He is my rock and my king, and treats me like all woman should be treated. (Like a spoiled Queen) I have two miniature dachshund's that are my babies, and they love to keep me company when I am writing away on my next WIP. I'm about to publish my 6th book, and can hardly believe how my life has changed. I'm called an author, and still can't believe it. I've have met some amazing woman on my journey so far, and have learned so much. (Sometimes the hard way.) I've been like a sponge soaking up all the information I can on how the publishing world works. It's been a rollercoaster ride so far with its ups and its downs. No matter what, I will never regret anything I've done. You can't succeed if you don't try, and if you don't try you won't succeed. One of my favorite quotes "If the dream is big enough the facts don't matter". Some other info about me, I love my family, friends, wine and anything caffeinated. I also love writing HEA. For the same reason I won't watch a movie that I know will make me cry, (with the exception of Steel Magnolias) I will never write a book without a HEA. There might be a few twists and turns, a cliffhanger or two. But ultimately my stories will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. For me, reading is entertainment, a way to escape this crazy insane world. If a book leaves me feeling sad, mad or gut wrenched, it is not for me. There is enough gut-wrenching sadness in this world, I don't need to read about it too. I started writing 3 years ago, and have no plans on stopping. So keep your eye on me because with the help of some amazing people and my wonderful fans, this girl is going to be on the New York Times best selling list someday.
Being adopted by one of the wealthiest families in the country Lilly Sumnor should have had a life of luxury. But being hated by her adopted mother Jane for reasons no one seemed to know, made Lilly's life hell.
It wasn't until the day that a young Lilly met their gardener's son Luke Hansen did she ever feel like she had something to look forward to. The closer they got the harder it was for young Luke to control his temper against the abuse suffered by the hand of adopted mother Jane.
Lilly inherits the family fortune after a car accident killing both Ted and Jane Sumnor. Slowly Lilly uncovers secrets about her birth mother. She is wrapped in a world of dangers from what she finds out and from the threat of someone that wants to take her away from Luke forever.
*Wow! I can’t wait to read the next book. I can’t wait to find out what happens next. This is a wonderfully written story of pain and love. The chemistry between Lilly and Luke is undeniable and you can just feel it come off the pages.
I love how you’re guessing the entire book. I love the twists and turns the story takes. I like how this book is filled with suspense with a lot of romance.
A Must read, then book 2. I would highly recommend this book.
Unbreakable 2 picked up immediately where Unbreakable left off. I was instantly intrigued as to what would happen next...Mainly because the end of Unbreakable was where, I as the reader, was finally hooked and grabbed for more of the story. I have to say that I had a hard time connecting with the characters. While I did enjoy the fact that Lilly was a strong female character, she tended to overpowered the opportunity for Luke to fill a role of being an Alpha Male. There were times he seemed to0 feminine in both books. Using phrases like... "me like" when observing Lilly's naked body just turned me off. I could understand those words coming from Lilly because she was a young 18 year-old girl but Luke was a couple years older than her and had the ability to live and experience life as he grew up. I expected him to be more "manly" so to speak. On occasion, he was permitted to fill the role of dominate male but those moments were few and far between. It's possible to have a strong female lead without taking away from the male/alpha aspect. However; I did enjoy how Luke was truly, madly and deeply devoted to Lilly even before she was of age. They truly had a deep connection and Love that would rival a few other stories I've read.
I was repeatedly thrown off by the plot regarding the death of Lilly's mother. As in the first book, there is a constant reference to voodoo practice; which kept me wondering if the story was beginning to fall into the paranormal genre or not. While I understand that this practice is common for the location/setting of the story, it continued to fizzle the story for me. Also, in both books I realized there was a lot of showering. Lilly showered, Luke showered, Lilly and Luke showered together, Jacob showered. While I understand the importance of cleanliness, I think that more time could have been spent expanding a bit on the rest of the story plot. Drawing it out a bit as it occasionally seemed rushed. They would stumble upon a clue and BAM, the next day they would get a letter that would explain it all. It was all too coincidental. Some parts were too fast paced and other parts moved a bit slow.
While I did enjoy this story, I felt it needed a some TLC to make it easier for the reader to read. Conversations between the characters didn't flow naturally. The wording/phrasing used wasn't how the typical person would speak. Occasionally what I was reading felt robotic. It is ok to use contractions from time to time. Unbreakable 2, The Mystery of Lilly was a sweet story. After all is said and done, I did enjoy reading about Lilly and Luke's love and would read more of their story if it presented itself. I love being able to see the characters through to the end and I was happy to see the HEA the characters were given. This Naughty Mom gives Unbreakable 2, The Mystery of Lilly a 3.75 stars
This is the Second Book in this series you have to read the First Book in the Series to understand anything in this book. I enjoyed this book because it left me wondering after the first book and this book explained just about everything.
Lily Sumnor has a stalker and he kidnaps her in the first book this book leads to her being found. It also finishes telling her family history, She was adopted so this book tells more about who he biological mom and dad are. It also explains more about who her stalker is and you also in a few of the chapters get to here his POV of what is going on and why everything happened. We had all of the same characters in this book so I loved them all. I love reading about how much Luke loves Lily and how much Lily loves Luke. It shows how they are soul mates. You can tell in this book how much love there is between them. There was drama in the book that made me mad. There was also some things between Luke and Lily's relationship that made you feel like you was in real life and not a book. The character I did not like was Sydney because she tried to ruin the relationship of Luke and Lily. Luke calles Lily his flower and I love that
This is the second book by Amie Nichols I have read and I really enjoyed reading. She is a very good author. I always wonder when reading books how the author comes up with there story lines and I am really dying to know this with this author. Because this story line is not like any other I have read. Everything was well written in this story. But I do believe there will be another story in this series the way this ended. Let's hope so because I still have some questions not everything was answered for me. If you like stories with a mystery to the you should read this series.
As book 1 ended in a cliffhanger book 2 starts off with the results of that becoming clear.
Yes Lilly has been kidnapped , yes Luke and Lucy were drugged and now in hospital , and yes the house is gone. This book takes you on the journey to find the answers to all the questions in book 1 about Lilly's life , or better yet the life of her real parents and how all the people tie into each other. It is a crazy revelation so hold onto your seats this book is again filled with suspense.
It is hard to go through and review this book without spoilers because again as the story unfolds you are either blown away or hitting yourself saying "oh how did I miss that". I was suspicious of everyone. The first question answered is finding out who her kidnapper is and why. WOW this grabs you right away and just blew me away. Finding out who January James is and the truth about Samantha is heartbreaking and fulfilling because it finally makes sense. You will feel for Lilly , the poor innocent baby that was caught up in this awful circumstance gone horribly wrong. And to top it off you get the story of how Jane and her horrible friends fit into it all.
Despite all the drama and heartache Lilly stays strong and the story of her and Luke's love keeps you going. They have such a fiery chemistry I cannot say it enough their sex is HOT HOT HOT. Witnessing their relationship blossom into marriage and beyond is great. The epilogue is beautiful up until you read that last paragraph...OMG what does that mean ????
Great job Amie , the series is wonderful, I recommend it to anyone who wants a nice mix of love , romance and suspense !!
Unbreakable 2, The Mystery of Lilly is book two in the Cypress Grove series. It is not a standalone and you must read book one, Unbreakable, first. I loved book one, Unbreakable. After reading book one I didn't think it was possible for Unbreakable 2 to be as good as book one but it is. It was even better then book one.
If you hadn't read book one, you may want to stop reading because the rest of this review may ruin book one for you.
Unbreakable ending with Lily being kidnapped and not knowing the fate of Luke and her friends. Unbreakable 2 picks up right there. Lily gets found very quickly, which surprised me. Her kidnapper Matt is a crazy man. Lily helps the FBI with getting a confession out of him. This is against Jacob and Luke's wishes. Of course that causes problems in Luke and Lily's relationship. Luke's sister and ex also try to cause problems for Luke and Lily.
This book is great because we get the answers to the mystery of Lily. We find out who her parents are. I was a little surprised at that. We also find out the events leading up to her mother death.
I loved the Epilogue, it gives us an update on where the characters are and how their lives have gone. There is a little bit a crazy Matt in the epilogue too.
The cliffhanger from book one is put to rest in just a chapter or 2. This series certainly jumps from one thing to the next. We miss all of the search for Lily and only catch up after she is safe. I would have liked to see Luke searching for her. I wanted to see the scene when they realize she is wearing a tracker. I would have liked to read about Jacob saving everyone before the explosion. I felt a bit cheated.
The next mystery is in full swing, though. Oh yea, they catch the bad guy, Lily gets him to talk, yada, yada.
Not to be silly, but that is how it felt. What happened to Lily's mother, though was a mystery that seemed to take awhile to uncover. The mystery was steeped in black magic voodoo and old southern pride. I thought for a moment that the Lily/Luke romance may be over, but they were still devoted. I didn't understand the reasoning behind Luke's sister suddenly deciding he needs to be with her friend, instead of Lily. That was a bit bizarre.
We do get the HEA and a romantic wedding. I love the epilogue. I love the kids and can Emma get any funnier? The last paragraph was creepy, but fit in with the whole voodoo creepiness theme. This was a fun 2 book romantic suspense series.
*I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Who is Lilly Sumnor? Just when everything seems to be going right, Lilly's world is turned upside down by her stalker. Not only is she kidnapped, but he also reveals information about her past that leads her on a journey of discovery. Every answer seems to lead to more questions. With the handsome and understanding Luke on her side, Lilly will stop at nothing to discover her past so she can move on with her future. This book was full of surprises. I think I wanted to know Lilly's past more than the character did. The relationship between Luke and Lilly was both sweet and smoking hot. This book appeals to both the romance and mystery lover in me. I was hooked from the beginning! "The Mystery of Lilly" is not a stand alone book so be sure to pick up "Unbreakable" and "Unbreakable 2; The Mystery of Lilly" and plan to spend the weekend in your favorite reading spot because you won't want to stop reading.
**Copy received from author in exchange for an honest review**
The second book in this series was a good read. It picked up right where Unbreakable left off. Most of the mysteries surrounding Lilly were answered.
The journey to the answers they discover and needed is filled with insecurity, mistrust, and numerous twists and turns. There were moments that I wanted to jump in and slap a character in the face, but it all added to the story. If you are anything like me, you will think this many time. You learn more about the supporting characters and how their stories develop throughout the book. Emma, Jimmy, Jacob, and Lucy are still great best friends. Emma is still my favorite character because she is rough around the edges, spunky, out spoken, and loyal.
I admire the story for having answered most questions, but the biggest question now is: Will there be a third book? The way it ended had me frustrated and interested to know what will happen next. It was fast paced and it was a good story.
I was so emotional throughout the entire book. As book one ended in a cliffhanger, I was instantly worried about Lilly, Luke, and Lucy as the first chapters started. As each chapter progressed to the next, the mystery of Lilly’s adoption and her mother became more clear. I enjoyed the way that characters from the present and the past were intertwined with each other. No one seemed to be immune from the decisions that were made by others in the past. Lilly and Luke had an amazing connection that only grew with the story. Luke is a protector and is willing to sacrifice anything for the woman he loves. I was especially surprised at the love I felt for the secondary characters. Emma is an amazing best friend and Jacob and Lucy are a huge asset to the story. The series mystery added a refreshing breathe to the story and allowed the reader to feel more emotion for Lilly and Luke. Thank you Amie for finishing the love story showing a beautiful happily ever after.
Unbreakable 2 picks up from book 1 with a bang! This book is full of surprising twists and turns that leave you guessing the entire book. When you get towards the end you are slapped in the face with information that makes your head spin! Amie excels at writing mystery books that's for damn sure, and the sex scenes....ooooh la la. Get ya some of that folks! Luke and Lilly were meant for each other. I wanted to smack his sister and Sidney in the face. Grrrrr that little tramp. I only wish there were more story about Matt. I felt like we were missing out on a big part of the story. Overall, this story wraps up everything about Lilly's past with awesome mysterious story telling. You definitely don't expect the things Amie throws at you.
Unbreakable 2 The mystery of Lilly Unbreakable 2 picks up right where the first book ends where Lilly gets kidnapped. Lilly is kidnapped by Matt her crazy arse stalker who all so was hired by Lilly's adopted mother Jane to kill Lilly before her 18th birthday. But he feel in love with Lilly and killed Jane and her father, So the Fbi find Matt but they need Lilly's help to get a confession out of him. She does it but against Jacob (bodyguard) and Luke wishes so that causes problems in the relationship, even Luke's sister and ex are trying to get in between Lilly and Luke. The mystery of Lilly and her adopted becomes more clear now from the past and the present intertwining with each other .and looks like nobody was safe from the decisions that was made in the past
I read this book in exchange for an honest review! I have to admit, I liked this book much more than the first. It seemed to have a lot more going on. There was twist in this book that I definitely did not see coming! Although there were some parts that did go on a little bit and where the first book was all about one thing this was about another. So it kinda does make you think wtheck! Although you still wanted to know what the book was about, it never really goes into depth about what happened in the first book and it leaves you feeling less than satisfied! But I did enjoy the read thank you so much!
I really enjoyed reading this book. I liked it better than the first, and could tell the author had gained a bit of confidence in writing this series. The plot was very well developed and had many twists and turns. Each of the characters were interconnected in ways that I didn't see coming. I do feel like this book, as well as the first may have been written in the wrong person. I loved the story line and plot and would highly recommend this book.
Unbreakable and Unbreakable 2 was a freaking awesome read. I loved the mix of romance, suspense, and voodoo all in these stories. This writer is absolutely great at spinning a story and keeping the reader in thralled with everything going on. I read her deep blue series and was captivated by it as well. This is one author I will be keeping a look out for her work. I definitely recommend this author all together and this series. I hope their will be another book to be added to this story line.
I received this book for an honest review. This was such a perfect conclusion to the first book. I was very happy that I was able to read both books together. As with the first book I was instantly taken over by this book. What I enjoyed with this book was that it takes up where the first one leaves off. I really enjoyed the fact that it was more than just a romance but also a mystery.
i liked this book i did think the beguinning was rushed i would have liked to have read how jacob saved luke an lucy and what happened to lily whilst kidnapped but it was all done in one chapter the rest of the book was good all voodoo an secrets a great read
