Myles Johnson doesn’t need much to be happy—a weekly horseback ride to clear his head, a home-cooked meal from his mama, and a promotion at the auto auction he’s been working for the last eight years. He’s convinced he’s about to have it all until the only available auctioneer position is ripped out from underneath him and handed to out-of-towner, Hunter Smith. On top of that, he’s been assigned as her ringman.

Despite what Myles believes, Hunter didn’t just use her daddy’s name to get her the job. She’s worked hard her entire life, and it finally pays off when she’s offered a job in sunny Florida. The fact that it also gets her away from her overbearing mother and abusive ex is just an added perk.

Hunter’s conviction that Myles is nothing more than a typical jerk wavers as he shows her a more thoughtful side. But when a crisis calls her back home and he takes over her auctioneer position, will Myles feel fulfilled by finally stepping into his dream job? Or have his dreams shifted into something more?

Myles, Myles, Myles 🤭

I do love a nice rom com that’s filled with flirting and giggling. I knew I was going to enjoy this book from the first few pages.

Dual POV gets me every time so I was loving the switch between Myles and Hunter. I liked that it was a natural development between them and it wasn’t rushed.

I enjoyed all the side characters even Myles’ mother. She was such a sweetheart! I would love to see a JT book. He was a fun character as well. I was engaged all throughout this book.

Read if you love:

had high expectations on this, it is set in the auctionering world, which I had no idea it existed, so i was quite interested to see what was going on there. Honestly, I still don't know what's going on. I understand you can't write a lot about, it would be boring of course, but I still have no clue.
Moving on the plot, there wasn't. I mean, aside from the romance - which was not that bad - the characters - again, not the greatest but not bad either - there was no plot. Everything was very superficial, and some themes and actions were as well.

Overall it was a simple and easy read, but it did not convince me that much.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me the ARC. All opinions are mine.

2.5/5 🌶️

This was a very quick and fun romcom with open door spice.

If you like:
✨ enemies/rivals to lovers
✨ dual POV
✨ MMC who is down bad for the FMC
✨ banter and tension
✨ lovable and quirky side characters
✨ workplace romance
Then you will like this one!

Like I said, it was a very quick read at 225 pages and therefore the conflicts that the MCs face and overall plot felt a little surface level but I didn’t go into it expecting a dense novel with a complicated plot. It was enjoyable to read and I finished it in just a few hours.

Overall, would definitely recommend the if you’re in the mood for something light (although please be warned that there is mention of domestic abuse so that is something to keep in mind). I think this is a great debut novel and look forward to more from this author.

Thank you Dawn Anderson, Rooted Publishing LLC, and Netgalley for the ARC copy of this book!
This book is a great Dual POV romcom quick read! It’s about two auctioneer's who are essentially competing for the same auctioneer position. It is given to Hunter, who is the daughter of a cattle auctioneer legend, with Myles being assigned as her ringman. This book is expected to release on November 1st, 2024.

➼ enemies-to-lovers
➼ romcom
➼ work rivals
➼ instant love
➼ dual POV

Trigger warning(s): flashbacks from an abusive relationship (not between the main characters)

This was such a cute romcom! It definitely had some fast paced and cliche moments, but overall it was an enjoyable read! I didn't know much about auctioneers, ringmen, etc. so it was interesting to get an inside view on it all!

Hunter is a b@da$$ auctioneer. It is tough to follow in your fathers footsteps, but she excels in what she does and starts to make a name for herself.
Myles is such a great man, despite the way he acted in the beginning of the book. He makes you hardcore swoon!

Book boyfriend? Yes! Like I said before, Myles is swoonworthy!!

ARC gifted for review from NetGalley. 3.5/5⭐️

I really did enjoy this story. I thought Dawn Anderson was able to build relationships between main and side characters that felt real and believable.

My 2 biggest critiques of the book are the pacing of the love story and the emphasis on clothing descriptions. As much as I was rooting for our heroines to get together and there were giggle inducing moments, the story taking place over only 2 weeks really took me out of the story and I can say the same thing for the clothing descriptions. There were times when it felt like we got unnecessary details on the small things that distracted from the overall story.

That said, I really did love Hunter and Myles. There was really good representation for Narcissistic abuse by a parent, escaping domestic violence, and the resiliency of single mothers (the parent of the MMC). Their love story was definitely fast, but they had insanely good chemistry. I also really liked the elements of auctioneering included in the text. I have no experience on whether or not it’s accurate, but as it’s something I have no experience with, it was helpful context and very important to who our characters are.

Overall, this book was really enjoyable and a fun time. It was a great before bed read because the stakes weren’t too high and the characters were fun to root for

Started this book after dinner and I flew through it. Now it's way past my bed time and I finally finished it.

Myles' been vying for the auctioneer position but he got passed up since the position went to Hunter, an out-towner daughter of a world-famous auctioneer and it rubbed him the wrong way. As they work together, it seems that they developed attraction to one another.

I applied for an ARC since I was intrigued by their jobs, because it's unique for me and the premise was very simple and cute. One, I didn't expect to read this in one-sitting. I was just vibing with the book, and it's so fast-paced that I lost precious sleep time over it. No regrets! Second, I think this is the case of right book, right time because I was just in a mood for something light, fluffy and sweet and this book delivered everything and more.

I love our main characters individually, and together. They both dealt with a bad past but that doesn't made them a bad person. It was so straight to the point and very fun to read. I love how they were both adults about their relationship and how they communicate with each other.

I usually don't like courting stage or them being together in a book, but I honestly didn't mind with this book. It was great, the banter and tension delivered!

Overall, I had a fun time and a great night reading this book.

eARC Review - A solid, toe-curling romance set in an world, this was a quick and easy read.

Set within the high-pressure , male dominated world of auctioneering, it's a new take on the country, small-town romance novel.

Myles, Hunter, JT and Jess don't take long to bed in as characters. The pace is great, the story moves quickly and the character interactions are pretty believable. The chemistry between Hunter and Myles is well-done and presents a reasonable slow-burn to the spicy conclusion.

It's a cozy, low stakes romance with the enemies to lovers trope along with a small cast of characters it's easy to enjoy. The World Hunter is pulled back to feels a little less solid than the one the novel mainly inhabits, but beyond that it's a good enjoyable read.

Myles Johnson thinks he’s a shoo-in for the open auctioneer position at his job until Hunter Smith shows up as the new auctioneer. He immediately thinks she only got the job because of who her dad is but Hunter has worked really hard to get to where she is. Determined to prove to Myles she deserves her job ends up turning into something more. This enemies to lovers delivers the giddy school girl squeals and laughs.

ARC REVIEW Thank you NetGalley!

Myles and JT are best friends and car ringmen, looking to move up to auctioneer. When a position opens, Myles assumes he’s finally landed his big break, but is quickly corrected when a beautiful (and well known), woman seems to be taking the lead. Hunter is known in the auctioneer industry because of her Dad. Looking to make it in the business she’s not letting any cocky guy stand in her way to distract her, or is she?

A sexy/steamy quick romance with lovable side characters (Yay! For Jess and JT). There’s not a lot of “depth” to the book but we all love a good quick romance read! 🛻 🔥

It was a quick read and a decent start for her first novel. The writing wasn't great at the start, didnt exactly hook me in, but it improved, and I got into the story fast. I did enjoy reading the book, but was left disappointed in the end. It didn't quite feel complete as a story, more like PWP but with very little of the first P...

If you want to to hear about my pet peeves and dissection of the main characters, carry on. Spoiler free.

Myles was a very sweet character, he had a bad day when he met Hunter, and I get that, then teased her some more, but made up for all of it. That's not enemies to lovers for me, but it was still sweet to  read.
I kind of missed the personality for both, the plot outside the romance was non existent too, so everything just felt very superficial, other than them being attracted to each other and being good people, I'm not sure what else there is to their relationship.

I'm not a fan of men calling women "squeaky" or referring to them as "females" in their field, and while I understand the choice might have been made to show Myles wasn't perfect, it didn't really fit and was quite off putting.

Jess was A LOT at first, but she was a very good friend, even if everything between Hunter and her seemed to develop instantly.

To me, most of what we learnt about Hunter seemed contradictory, and not in a she's a complex character way, more like an unfinished way where there where to different ideas of who the character should have been.
Hunter was raised mostly by her dad, trained in a male dominated field, is very good at her job, and supposedly stands up to people that arent her parents, with ease.  Yet, she blushes and stutters constantly when talking to Myles at first, has difficulty talking about kissing and sex and feelings, and very much gives young virgin vibes when not on the podium. But she's said shes had sex and relationships before. Her last one was abusive, and I thought this could explain her behaviour, but nothing in the story alludes to that, she's just very shy about those subjects, but not about anything else. Idk it confused me. I was also surprised by how slow Myles was taking things considering he wasn't aware of what had happened to her before, and didn't have a reason to treat her with white gloves. It would've made more sense to me for him to attempt something, get rebuffed, and then make a drastic pace change.

I thought perhaps we might be getting demisexual representation due to how awkward she was around things like physical contact and repeatedly saying she had never enjoyed it before or only was interested in it now because it was Myles, but that also didn't materialise. She didn't seem to have a particularly conservative or religious background, so the whole "her never orgasming even by herself" thing was weird, and just seemed like it was there to make Myles have a magic dick. (In combination with a few other things, some previously mentioned, it just gave a slight tinge of internalized misogyny)

Thank-you NetGalley for providing the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Highest Bidder is Dawn Anderson’s debut novel, and wow, what an awesome start to her new writing career! This novel is a quick yet comfortable and cozy read, perfect for fans of small-town romance filled with laugh out loud humor and a delicious romance.

Right from the beginning, the story pulls you in when we are introduced to Myles, who has been waiting for his moment to finally run his own lane, only for his dream to be snatched by Hunter, the daughter of a famous auctioneer. Of course, at that moment, I did feel the same anger as Myles did when that moment happened, but when we are given a little bit of insight in Hunter’s life, I felt sympathetic and wanted them to find an understanding in where they are at.

Thus starts a relationship where every encounters grow from hate-talk to teasing each other with hidden meanings behind their actions and whispered words. So much so that it nearly drove JT, Jess, and all the other characters nuts until they finally realized their feelings to one another.

The pacing at the start of their romance starts off fast, with them already feelings these “unexpected feelings” for each other, and then starts to slow down once they’re gearing up to dive headfirst into a new relationship. Which I suspect is meant to spread out all of these sweet and spicy moments so that they could linger in people’s heads—and they do, don’t get me wrong, but it’s the shift in the pacing that kind of threw me off a bit. Not a whole lot, just a bit.

Myles isn’t the best book boyfriend, but he’s definitely a lot better than that piece of scum that is Hunter’s ex boyfriend. He has a lot of flaws and makes some mistakes, but what’s remarkable about him is that he actually owns up to it and makes it up for it towards the end. That’s what I call a character growth.

Due to having a famous auctioneer as her father and being a woman forcing her way into a male-dominated world, Hunter has to be headstrong and confident in her abilities and to show that she can handle whatever the world throws at her. And she does prove herself from time to time. However—and this is just my personal opinion—I feel there are some moments where I feel like it’s a bit too much and then it flips into her being soft, I guess? I’m not sure what the right word is to describe the change in her behavior after she falls into Myles.

All in all, this is a good start for Anderson and I honestly cannot wait to see what she else she has in store for the future. Thank you to Dawn Anderson for gifting me an eARC copy!

I really enjoyed the relationship dynamic with this one, however I did feel it moved pretty quickly, especially considering this is marketed as enemies to lovers

I feel like more could have been done with myles meeting her ex, with how much it was brought up what a bad guy he was and how much her mum wanted them back together I felt we were for sure building up to a bigger confrontation between the 2 men than we got

I did enjoy the third act conflict, I think it was well done and didn’t rely on “lazy” storytelling techniques, it felt natural rather than being there because the typical structure of a romance requires a breakup/another form of conflict

Some of the writing felt a little over explained and simple, it felt like the author didn’t trust the reader to infer certain things or remember

While I grew to love myles, I really didn’t like him at the start, the author couldn’t commit to his misjudgment of her (having him say multiple times both that she’ll probably be good because of learning from her father, but also that he expects her to fail and she only got the job because of her dad, he seems to assume that this is her first time ever auctioneering despite also assuming she learnt from her dad), I also didn’t appreciate that once he saw her in action and could see she was good, he was still annoyed that she got the job “because of her dad” even though she is clearly deserving of it no matter how she got it, his actions still come across like she’s terrible at the job

Finally, my last issue came with the descriptions of the auctioneering world, as someone who doesn’t know anything about it it was hard to understand what different peoples roles were, now I don’t expect a definition of each thing, but I would like a little more explanation so that someone with no clue can understand what’s going on, I have read plenty of books where the characters do something I have no idea about where it doesn’t have a boring explanation but I still don’t feel clueless about what’s happening

Thank you to NetGalley and rooted publishing for my eARC

A very different premise to any book I’ve read before. Out of all the cowboys, sports and office romances, competing auctioneers was a refreshing change.

Myles has waited for the opportunity to become an auctioneer of his own lane, and as a colleague retires, the possibility becomes more likely. That is, until they hire Hunter, the prodigal daughter of world-famous auctioneer and his opportunity is lost.

Myles and Hunter have to navigate their new working relationship whilst Myles is harboring bitter feelings towards the woman who has stolen his job. But close proximity is a hell of a trope, and the competition quickly becomes less of a rivalry and more of an attraction.

This was a fast-paced, easy read. There was no slow burn, which I’m grateful for as the main characters admit the inevitable sooner rather than later.

As much as I enjoyed it, it felt more like a quick pallet cleanser before moving onto other heavier reads. The plot isn’t very intense, as there aren’t very memorable events that happen. Although, there is a small storyline of violence against women that should come with a trigger warning.

Myles is almost a Prince Charming style character, swooping in to save the day. He’s honest and open, which prevents the whole “just tell her!!!!” plot that usually drives me insane.

I feel like I may have enjoyed this book more if I knew about their line of work. But I was clueless, so I mainly stuck around for the romance, which I can’t complain about. It was done well, and quickly, which I appreciate.

However, there wasn’t a lot else that would have kept me interested. It’s light-hearted more than anything and if you’re looking for something that you don’t have to concentrate hard on whilst reading, this is probably the ideal read for you.

Thank you NetGalley and Rooted Publishing LLC for the arc in exchange for an honest review!

Hunter Smith is no stranger to the auctioneering world. Her father is a famous auctioneer for cattle, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t a force in her own right. Myles Johnson has worked his way up from the bottom in the auctioning business. Now is finally his chance to run his own line. Until an auctioneering nepo baby rolls into town and takes the spot he has been waiting for. The pair starts off on the wrong foot. Will they be able to make amends and more?

This book had all of the trappings of a classic rom-com. There was a close-knit group of friends and a niche community. This was the first book I have read that involved the auctioneering business. It did a good job at explaining how the roles worked. I didn’t feel lost at any point when the book got more technical. I had issues with the pacing of the book. The story went by quickly in the beginning when Hunter and Myles weren’t spending a lot of time together. Then it slowed down significantly when they started spending more time together. It was a bit difficult to get through at that point due to the repetitiveness of each of their inner monologues. I was also confused by the differences in Hunter’s character at the beginning of the book compared to the middle/end. She was so confident and self-assured at the beginning of the book, but was way more shy in the middle/end. I ended up attributing this to her comfortability with Myles the closer they got. I enjoyed Hunter and Myles together. They showed their support for each other in every way they could. I am also so glad the story wasn’t one where the woman sacrificed to be with her partner. Overall, it was an enjoyable book. I recommend this book to rom-com fans who are looking for a short read about an interesting community.

I don't think I've ever read a book where any of the characters were auctioneers! It was odd to start with, but didn't take too long to get on board with it though it does sound like a very busy way of living and working!

Told from a dual POV, which is my favourite!

Myles has been working at the auctions for years as a lane runner and someone has recently retired. He's convinced the auctioneer position is his but then it's given to a tiny little woman with big hair - the daughter of one of the most famous cattle auctioneers in the country! Now he has to work alongside her as her lane runner but it's hard for him to keep his disappointment from showing - no matter how much he's drawn to her.

Hunter has a lot to prove in this male dominated industry - she may have gotten the job because her dad made some calls on her behalf but she still has to prove she's got what it takes. Much easier to do when someone isn't openly hating you.

Of course, they're drawn to each other and it really doesn't take long for Myles to pull his head out of his arse long enough to realise that it's not Hunter's fault he didn't get the job and he really shouldn't be taking it out on her. It takes him even less time to realise he's a goner for her.

I actually really liked their relationship. Once Myles apologised and Hunter began to let him in, he was a completely puppy dog around her. More than willing to wear his heart on his sleeve for her. There is no third act break up - once they're together, they're together and that's it; which is awesome - can't stand the third act break up!

Couldn’t Put It Down – A Captivating Enemies-to-Lovers Romance! ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Highest Bidder by Dawn Anderson had me hooked from the very first page! I couldn’t put this book down, sneaking in pages whenever I could because Myles and Hunter’s chemistry was impossible to resist. Their story is full of tension, misunderstandings, and unexpected moments of vulnerability that had me turning pages late into the night.

Myles is the small-town guy with simple dreams, but his frustration is palpable when Hunter swoops in to take what he thought was rightfully his. Meanwhile, Hunter is fierce, determined, and escaping a troubled past, proving she’s much more than the privileged newcomer Myles assumes she is. The dynamic between them shifts beautifully as their initial resentment melts into reluctant attraction, and I loved watching them grow closer.

The emotional depth in this story, combined with the backdrop of competitive auctions and complicated family dynamics, kept me engaged from start to finish. While I would’ve loved just a little more resolution with some plot points, the character development and evolving romance made up for it. Anderson did a fantastic job weaving a story that’s heartfelt, emotional, and steamy.

If you enjoy a slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers romance with characters who challenge each other in all the best ways, Highest Bidder is a must-read!

Thank you Dawn Anderson and NetGalley for the eARC for this book!

Myles is convinced that he's finally getting everything he has worked for, a promotion to Auctioneer. With his own lane to run, he will be all set to help out his Mama financially while working his dream job. That is until his position is given away to the new girl, Hunter. She is the daughter of cattle auction royalty, her personality is magnetic, she is absolutely gorgeous, and Myles can't seem to hate her even though he is trying very hard to.

Hunter is escaping a bad relationship with her ex, trying to make a name for herself in the auction world and starting over in a whole new state. She can't figure out why the guy everyone says is so nice and sweet is being such a jerk to her. But the ore she gets to know Myles, the more she is drawn to him in a way she never has been before.

This debut novel from Dawn Anderson is set in the fast-paced world of car (and cattle) auctions, and I found the setting super interesting and unique. It was fun learning about this world I had never even thought about before. The characters were loveable and relatable, and I enjoyed the found family aspects. The romance and plot are pretty low stakes, but it was tender and emotional, and Myles comes across as a sweetheart who loves his mama and really just wants to care for the people in his life. This is a super quick romance read with a little spice (1.5 chillis).

Thank you to NetGalley, Dawn Anderson, and Rooted Publishing LLC for providing me with an ARC of Highest Bidder.

4★

Highest Bidder is a short, charming work romance that drew me in right from the first page. With approximately 270 pages, it’s a fast-paced read that combines playful banter with just the right amount of cutesy romance. Told from dual POVs, it lets you see what both characters are feeling and thinking—a feature I really loved!

Myles, one of the main characters, completely stole my heart. I can’t even put into words how much I loved him! His mother also deserves a shoutout—she’s my favorite side character, bringing so much warmth to the story. I even found myself wanting a book about JT, who’s such an intriguing character and definitely deserves his own spotlight.

The book’s auctioneering world setting was a fresh experience for me, and it left me curious to learn more about this unique environment. Since it’s only 270 pages, the story does lean toward being a bit superficial, but that’s something I expected with a shorter read. Even so, it’s incredibly engaging, and I appreciated how accessible the language was—English isn’t my first language, but I had no trouble enjoying it.

Overall, Highest Bidder is a cute, enjoyable romance, and I would definitely recommend it! It releases tomorrow, November 1st, so make sure to check it out!

Tropes: Slow burn, he falls first, enemies to lovers, workplace romance

For the past 10 years or so, Myles Johnson has been trying to work his way up to his dream job- being an auctioneer- so that he do more to help financially support his mom. When a lane opens up, he knows he’s next in line and has the job in the bag. Except he finds out that the vacancy has been given to none other than Hunter Smith, daughter of the legendary auctioneer Conrad Smith.

Hunter has just moved to FL to escape an overbearing mom and abusive ex boyfriend and start over. She is desperate to prove herself a capable auctioneer in a world dominated by her dad’s name where everyone assumes she isn’t able to hold her own and is just skating by on celebrity. Hunter doesn’t understand why Myles hates her and is so mean to her, and neither expects to fall in love with the other.

This story was cute, albeit a little formulaic. Nothing much stood out to me about it, but I enjoyed reading it. I think a big part of it is that I don’t really know much about auctioneering (I didn’t realize it was something you could make a career out of tbh) so while the story did a good job of describing what it was like to work at an auction house, it's not a culture I understand so a lot was lost on me.

Either way it was a fun read that I recommend.

This book started off so bad between these two, so we get the enemies-to-lovers trope with working together. There was soooo much sexual tension and everyone could see and feel it. You know the fine line between love and hate, yup that's it.
Main Characters- Miles and Hunter. Dual POV (i loved seeing this romcom coming from both sides)
I was rooting for these 2 from the start bc I had a feeling they were gonna be adorable together.
Hunter feels she needs to be tough, bc she is a girl in her type of job and also bc her dad is famous, but she is super sweet, kind-hearted and a great person. She is dealing with a lot because of some family issues and also some abusive issues with a past boyfriend (just wait til you hear about this dude) grrr.
Now Miles, wow he is having a bad time with life and bc he needs to not want to deal with Hunter (for many many reasons) he chooses to be grumpy and give her a hard time but he also is a big flirt. This guy is such a Mama's boy and a book boyfriend.
Oh, and we can't forget all the amazing supporting characters and another romance brewing.
And the way that this author was so descriptive, it was amazing and the book was so well written.
I loved this book so much, it has you smiling, laughing out loud and some sadness but it all ends up in the perfect ending.

Highest Bidder by Dawn Anderson had an interesting premise with Myles and Hunter, both auctioneers, which brought a lot of niche auction lingo into the mix. While it was unique, it could be a bit heavy on the jargon for those unfamiliar with the world of auctions.

Hunter starts off as a jealous jerk, but by about 50%, both characters are completely smitten with each other, which, honestly, got a little boring. They spend most of their time thinking about each other—how much they like each other, how much they want each other—but haven’t really done much beyond that. It felt a little too soon for all that intensity, especially when they’ve only shared one brief airport kiss and then suddenly have a very steamy moment on a pool table at a gala. It felt like an unrealistic leap in their relationship.

There was also a lot of frustration with the FMC’s mother, who was a complete bitch, and I couldn’t stand how her father didn’t step up to protect her more from that toxic dynamic.

By the end, I had to skim because I knew there wasn’t going to be a third-act breakup, and the story turned overly sweet and mushy for my taste. I felt the book lacked the banter I enjoy, and while there was some open-door spice, the rest of the book read like a closed-door romance, which made the steamier scenes feel a bit out of place (and I love spice!).

**Highest Bidder by Dawn Anderson**
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Available for preorder now!
Out on November 1st!

Thank you to Dawn Anderson, Rooted Publishing, and NetGalley for this ARC.

Do I know anything about auctions? No. Did I learn more about auctions through this book? Yes! I discovered that there aren't many women auctioneers, and if there's a man involved named Myles, he's probably attractive.

In all seriousness, this book checked all the boxes for me, especially after reading eleven books about tough mafia men. Hunter is stepping out of her father’s shadow while leaving her hometown for various reasons related to family and romantic relationships. Meanwhile, Myles is vying for the new auctioneer position after someone retired, aiming not only to support himself but also to help his mother.

When Hunter arrives for her first day, Myles feels that his job opportunity has been “taken” from him by this beautiful newcomer. Their relationship starts off sour from that meeting, but it evolves into something sweet and caring once Myles has a change of attitude. I loved the chemistry between Hunter and Myles, and the spice was just right!

This is such a great contemporary romance!

I’ve read this book as an ARC through NetGalley.
And I’m obsessed.

This book is about Myles and Hunter.
Myles is trying to change his position at work to be an auctioneer. When he arrives at work he soon realizes that the job he wanted was given away to a girl from out of town. Hunter.
Hunter is the daughter of a big name in the auctioning world. She grew up with this and learned everything from her dad.
Due to something that happened in her life (which I won’t spoil) she decided to move out of town. And that’s how she got the job. Grumpy Myles is not happy with Hunter, but will that change?

I loved both of them. And also their best friends Jess and JT. In the beginning of the story I was scared Myles would be too much of a mama’s boy, but I changed my mind soon.
I felt a connection with both main characters. I was giggling and kicking my feet. I am really happy I received this ARC.
I really hope for a second book about Jess as well!

I would say this book gives chestnut springs from Elsie Silver vibes. But with its own unique storyline. I never read a book about auctioning. But Myles did give me big cowboy vibes.
Grumpy x Sunshine, amazing spice, it’s really funny.
If you love these vibes, go read this book!!

Highest Bidder by Dawn Anderson 3⭐️

Hunter Smith is the daughter of a renowned auctioneer who is trying to make a new home for herself in Florida. There she meets Myles Johnson, a ring man who is trying to get promoted to auctioneer. They get off on the wrong foot and we follow them as they realize that their chemistry is undeniable.

Hunter and Myles are so cute and clearly bring out the best in each other! I appreciated him always showing up for her in the best way and I liked how upfront/straightforward about his feelings he was. The billiards table scene was hot! I also loved the side characters and their development as well!

I was really excited to read this book and get a different take on the rivals to lovers story. I feel like Hunter and Myles were always lowkey into each other and the switch from rivals to lovers was quicker than I was expecting. There wasn’t a ton of plot going on and I wish that we could’ve gotten a separate book on Jess and JT. There were also a couple loose ends that were confusing for me. Overall I enjoyed this short, light read!

Thank you to Dawn Anderson and her team for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!!

Highest Bidder is out tomorrow!
