Just when you thought it was safe to go back to camp ... the terror has returned.
Thirteen years after the horrible massacre at Camp Cherry Plains, all that remains is the legend of the demented wheelchair camp killer. Across Black River Pond, a new summer camp – Camp Brave Hearts – has opened. The new campers and counselors ignore the tales of what happened all those years ago, but someone with a score to settle is out to finish what the wheelchair camp killer started.
Why does Kenny, the camp stoner, disappear into the woods? Why does Eddie, the greasy camp counselor, keep lingering around the girls' cabins? And what is the bloody secret from Casey's past?
One by one, the slaughter begins until the kids at wheelchair camp fight back and discover the bloodbath's shocking secret.
David Irons was the kid who went to his room to watch and read horror when his relatives came round. It paid off. When he left his room, he became an award-winning filmmaker and writer living on the south coast of England. His films, colourful and stylish in design, have won awards at the Cambridge Film festival, Las Vegas VIFF festival, and LA Independent Festival for cinematography, editing, writing, and directing. '7 Winters Alone' - a sci-fi, horror short - was a winner in David Lynch's 2014 Short Film Competition.
In 2019 David had his first novel, Night Waves, published, followed by Night Creepers, Polybius, and The Bloody Tracks of Bigfoot in 2020 - 2021 from Severed Press. Since then, David has become a Splatterpunk award-nominated writer for his '80s summer camp slasher, 'Don't Go To Wheelchair Camp.'
The moral of this story is to be weird and stay in your room. It pays off in the end.
The highly anticipated sequel is here and it was absolutely worth the wait...
Filled with tension and dark humour, you're kept guessing from the outset. The story is super fast paced, action packed, blood soaked, brilliantly brutal and full of slashery goodness! Alongside some brilliantly inventive and merciless kills, and some very likeable characters, (when will I learn not to get too attached to the characters? 🤦♀️), youre taken back amidst the mayhem and madness of the Camp and second guessing the slashers identity and next moves.
Surrounded by kids filled with resentment, embarrassment, anger, and shame, some with something to prove, and some wanting payback, (on each other and the camp counsellors), makes for one hell of a good time, (for the reader anyway!) There are twists and turns galore that keep you flying through the pages, hungry for more.
I highly recommend you keep your copy safe in a Muff clutch.... 😂 A genius and innovative storage solution.
I really want to watch these books come to bloody life on the big screen! Slap-slap-slap….
I LOVED this book..! Also loved the first one - but this one took the first one and made it better. The perfect kind of sequel. Keep rolling these books out, Mr. Irons (pun intended).
This book was brilliant from start to finish!!! I didn't think it could get any better than the first one but then this one rolled around. It's a classic for any 80s or horror camp fans. David doesn't disappoint with the gore and kills!!! 5 stars!! Loved it!!!
Yess, I love a good slasher and David Irons has done it again with DGTWC2!! The first blew me away with its scenes of brutality and the insane twist at the end, so I wasn't sure if he'd be able to live up to it with this sequel.. but he did! The savage kills and of course an ending I didn't see coming at all, made this another awesome read! Fingers crossed for DGTWC3🤞🏻!! 4/5 skulls☠️👩🏼🦽
This series was so fun to read. I enjoy a good slasher with a twist. David Irons has a writing style that never fails to fully capture readers. Looking forward to reading more by this author.
Thirteen years after the Wheelchair Camp Massacre, a new camp is opening — right on the other side of the lake from the original. The owner and new counsellors are determined to help the campers forget what happened and make their own fun memories. But someone has other ideas.
After absolutely loving the first book, I was worried the second wouldn’t compare. I was wrong. This one was just as brutal as the first — the kill count was higher, and the killer was even more unexpected. I was suspicious of every single character, and I still didn’t get it right. I won’t lie — when the killer was revealed and it showed how they got around, I cackled. It was absolutely hilarious, and for that alone, I need this made into a movie ASAP. Once again, I fell into the trap of liking characters and rooting for them. But just like last time, no one was safe. I need a third book — like, right now.
Welcome to Camp Brave Hearts. A Camp where you can meet new friends, swim, canoe, and tell ghost stories about the massacre that happened Camp Cherry Plains that is across the lake. After 13 years it seemed safe to open a new wheelchair camp. Things started off “normal” but it went downhill rather fast. Bad employees without background checks and teens with grudges. Soon the blood started pouring down and no one is safe.
Well David did it again. It was a steady paced book, good story arc, and multiple suspects. I also loved the different ways the characters get killed in this book. I highly recommend this one.
I didn't like this one as much as the first one. Mainly because of the over the top ending. And I predicted the killer early on (which I am never able to do). All the other suspects were just too obvious possibilities. Even if this is intended as horror/comedy (which it seems obvious it is) - the ending was still too much for me.
Who wheel be left and what wheel be left of them? Sorry, I couldn't help myself! There weren't as many quotable quotes as the first book and I didn't feel as connected to any of the characters here but there is a certain 90's direct to video charm about this one that was very enjoyable.
It’s amazing!! This and part one are both five star reads for me but I think I like this one slightly more. The ending of this book is absolutely nuts in the best way and the entire book and the characters in it are written very well!!
BEST FUCKING SLASHER BOOK! The sequel is far better than the first book, even though I love it too but GOD! This was nuts! I hope this book turn into a book series, something like movie franchise Friday 13th but in novel! I'll read them all!💜
This book, like the one before it, is a ton of fun and it's a shame that it doesn't exist as a movie. The UK based author does let his UK-ness slip in this very American based book from time to time, but it's not distracting.
Like most 80s slashers, the killing never really ends. The first book was a must read and I would recommend anyone who loved the first one to read this sequel.
Again, the characters are a mix of hilarious, frustrating and relatable with some exceptional gore, violence and humour (without spoilers, the Krang joke made me audibly howl)
I enjoyed this book a lot and anything that odes to the classic 80s and 90s slashers and sticks the landing is worth the praise. This may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s worth exploring purely for the feeling of a new 80s slasher story (or sequel) that ticks all the correct boxes.
David Irons truly is a fantastic writer and clearly loves classic slashers and his writing reflects this with every page.
5/5 book and if there is someway we can get a third entry into this franchise, I’d happily preorder it today.
