Sin & Surrender is the story of Wes and Lindy. It takes place in the world of the Lock & Key series. Cat has created such a wonderful story of the next generation in Meager, South Dakota.
I discovered Cat back in 2022 and have devoured each of the Lock & Key books. This book does not disappoint. Cat’s writing makes you feel like you are right there with the main characters. I had a book hangover when I finished Sin & Surrender. I want to do a reread of this entire series but I still have yet to read “The Wind & the Roar Trilogy”.
Wes and Lindy knew each other as teens. Lindy’s Dad, Pick, is in a rival MC The Flames. Wes is the son of Jump, the former Prez of the One-Eyed Jacks MC.
Without giving anything away, Wes goes off to college and Lindy works at her local diner while dappling in make-up. Unexpected circumstances have Lindy leaving Elk, Nebraska and heading to Meager, South Dakota. I highlighted 80% of chapter 19 - all I can say is hang on tight!
Also, I will never be able to look at strawberry ice cream the same way again!
This is a second chance romance with all the feels!!! Cat catches up on the lives of Butler, Tania, Lock, Grace, Finger, Lenore, and Zoe plus others. Every chapter Zoe is in, she steals the scene!!
Some of my favorite quotes:
“I let out a breath as I took in my bare face in the mirror. No masks, no veils. No bravado. No camouflage. Only me. The me I could share with Wes.”
““Lindy, after pizza can we do makeup?” Zoë’s cheeks flushed pink as she waited for my reply, and Finger let out a hoarse laugh, shaking his head.” (Love, love Zoe)
“You and me can be sisters. And then Violet can be your sister too and Beck could be your brother. If you want?” - Zoe
““But where do all those feelings go? How do they go away?” - Zoe
“My heart thundered in my chest at her easy assessment. Zoë, this gentle vibrant soul who believed in true love and a loving family. Who believed in “perfect.”- Lindy
“we kissed like it was the beginning of something new, something that would last forever. Only in my world, nothing lasted forever.” - Lindy
““We haven’t been playing Legos, Wes, have we?”
“My gaze landed on a pic of a handsome, dark blond guy, bare-chested in a Jacks cut with a young brunette at his side. They were both beaming, his long tattooed arm slung around her shoulders, bottles in their hands, drunk on love, drunk on each other. My finger tapped on the picture. “Why does she seem familiar?” “That’s Grace and her first husband.”
“No matter how much I willed myself to keep hating you, no matter how much I clawed at my heart to get you out, it was always yours.”
“I got us on the road to the Hippie Hole, a classic Black Hills swimming spot.”
