Sin & Surrender: Small Town Motorcycle Club Romance

Rate this book
Years ago he destroyed my heart. Now he might be the only one who could save it. The worst thing that could happen to me just did.
My dad, an outlaw MC biker, disappeared. After so many tragedies, he’s all I have left, and I can’t lose him.

The next worst thing?

Now under two clubs’ protection, I’m sent to live in Meager, South Dakota, the home of the man who years ago ripped my teenage heart and soul to pieces.

Wes was a ruthless rebel with a destructive cause, and I was his intended collateral damage. He was my first boyfriend, first kiss, first love.
First liar.
I vowed never to trust a man again.

And the kicker? Wes, the tattoo artist and biker president’s son, is more smoking hot than ever.

It’s impossible to avoid him in this small town, but can I trust him? Can I trust myself?
He’s dangerously irresistible–especially when he’s being protective. Thoughtful. Possessive.
Yet I can tell that on the inside he’s as broken and haunted as I am.

Why does my stubborn heart pound like crazy every time I see him?
Every time he shoots me that sexy grin, his fierce gaze lingering? Takes my hand in his?
Reassures me? Touches me? Kisses me?
That undeniable scorching hot passion between us reignites, but is this our second chance or only a game of fire?

Terror explodes, and time runs out for my dad. Sinister suspicions of betrayal and revenge loom as dark and disturbing secrets from the past unravel. Now Wes and I need each other to find out the truth, no matter how brutal it could be.

Crossed purposes, broken destinies, wild ambitions, impulsive choices, and so many twisted blood-filled lies led us all here. But will we survive the mayhem before it’s too late?

I've been waiting for Wes' story for a long time. He is a character who has undergone a really interesting transformation, but in the past we only got fragments of his story. Now his book is out and I'm torn about it.
What I like most about Cat's books is that you really have to read them all to appreciate how One-Eyed Jacks' story twists and turns over the decades. This series is a jigsaw puzzle with missing pieces and you never know what the final picture will look like. But the journey and discovery is much more interesting. In this case, Sin & Surrender does not disappoint. We finally learn the whole story of Wes's father Jump and find out why he held a grudge against Finger and Butler and how deep his sceams ran. We also have a gripping and action-packed conclusion to the Broken Blades story with Raptor as the main villain. We also learn more about Wes's revenge that brought him and Lindy together eight years ago. And while I appreciate that Cat has written a story that tries to right the wrong done by Wes eight years earlier, I have a problem with it.

Some mild spoilers ahead...

When Jump was murdered, Wes tried to avenge him by using 16-year-old Lindy, who is the daughter of Pick - then an officer of Broken Blades. The whole plan was cruel, and it's a good thing Butler figured it out and stopped Wes in time (if you've read Blood & Rust, you know the story). But Wes made Lindy fall in love with him, and when it all fell apart, he broke her heart. It doesn't matter to me that he feels guilty about it. Eight years have passed, and he has done nothing to apologize to her. He didn't try to find her, even though he said he felt connected to her. It was only when she moved to Meager that he apologized and almost immediately fell in love with her, because “the chemistry was always there.” And Lindy resists for five minutes before she forgives him. Their romance is so immediate that I feel we missed out on the process of mending relationships, yearning, falling in love as adults. Their romance is so sweet and uncomplicated that if you cut away all the MC drama, we'd be left with a super sweet small town romance, and that's just not Cat's writing style (it hasn't been in the past, even in books like Whisperwind, which is not part of this series). I wanted more - more of Lindy's character development, more about Wes' struggles to move on with his life, and less of the overwhelming sweetness, especially in an ending that tries to pack in every element of a happily ever after.
In many ways it is an important book in a series and even though I didn't like the romance I'm not dissapointed with it. I got some new puzzle pieces of this amazing saga and I hope it wasn't the last book in Lock & Key series.

I wanted so much more from this long awaited book. Where was the build up to a relationship between them? Where was the angst, the feels, the drama? This should've been in spades and instead a got a sweet and cute little romance that left me wanting so much more and rather disappointed.

Exciting, Epic, and Beautifully Detailed, the story sweeps you away on a chopper thundering down the road. Full of wonderful, rich characters and their personalities, it's an awesome, enjoyable, and hard-to-put-down read. The writing style is superb and creates a world that I wanna live in
I'm a city born & bred girl, a cosmopolitan girl who hasn't even been glamping, so roughing it out is me wearing flat shoes in Manhattan.
But I wanna sit on the old lady seat of Biker-Boy Wes, wearing his leather jacket, hands in the air and roaring down the road from Meager South Dakota. I'm so taken away by this authors writing, it's bordering on Obsession. Old school MC romance with tatted alpha bikers & strong, kickass heroines esconsed in large complex webs of intra-gang networks that span multiple books. Lock & Key series creates a world in South Dakota and Nebraska. Multi-generational enmity, betrayals, Fights, jealousies continue on and we land on book 12.

“Hits you like a train. A train that keeps rolling over you and hurtles you down the track along with it. You got no choice in the matter.”

description

Wes & Lindy are products of Gang family. They know no other life. Wes's father, Jump - prez of One Eyed Jacks has a beef with the Flames, Prez Pick's daughter - Lindy have unfinished business that has filtered down to their kids. At one time, Wes had broken Lindy's heart so she's now fortified up.
When she returns to meager under protection of two clubs for safety reasons, Embers flare up.

“A Flame with the heart of a Broken Blade.”

description

The story is not just a love saga. It has backdrop of families/bikers holding grudges for years.
Cat is a master of complex stories and I'm utterly devoted to her books. This book doesn't Dissappoint, in fact it satisfies every biker romance lover's cravings...and THEN SOME!!
Steamy-spicy scenes leave you panting. I could FEEL the sizzling attraction between Wes and Lindy at every page.
Start with book one, if you haven't and the devour them all one by one.
5 stars for “A new life worth living.”

Cat Porter’s *Sin and Surrender* took me on an unforgettable journey through the raw, visceral emotions that have come to define the *Lock & Key* MC series. This book stands out, not only as a continuation of the saga but as a deeply personal exploration of love, healing, and redemption.

What struck me most was the emotional depth—Porter doesn’t shy away from hard truths. The characters are bruised and battered by life, yet there’s an undeniable beauty in the way they find strength in their vulnerability. This story took me to the edge of tears more than once, with moments of heartbreak intertwined with glimmers of hope.

Returning to Meager, South Dakota felt like visiting old friends. The rich tapestry of familiar characters and the gritty MC world is still very much alive, but *Sin and Surrender* brings a fresh perspective to it all. I loved how Porter allowed the characters to evolve; they’re older, wiser, and more reflective, yet still fierce and determined.

What makes this book truly shine is how it balances the intensity of the romance with moments of quiet introspection. There’s passion, yes, but there’s also healing. It’s not just a love story—it’s a story about coming to terms with the past, about finding peace even in the chaos that life brings.

Sin and Surrender* deserves all five stars for its powerful storytelling and emotional depth. Whether you’re a longtime fan of the *Lock & Key* series or discovering it for the first time, this book will grip your heart and leave you thinking long after you’ve finished the last page.

Welcome back to Meager. Here's another action packed MC story about learning who to trust, betrayal, found family, lost love and second chances not only in love but also in life. Mix in a bit of suspense and a bitter man who felt slighted by those he loved, and you have Sin & Surrender by Cat Porter.

Wes has always regretted what he did when he was 17. Lindy was the brightest spot from that time of his life. Now, when he sees her again for the first time in 8 years, he finds that he can't stay away from Lindy, And when she's in danger, there's nothing he won't do to protect her.

Lindy, on the other hand, wants to forget, and wished she could still hate Wes.

A lot of truths comes out throughout the book, for both Lindy and Wes. They're thrown for a loop because it changes their perspective on their family and their lives growing up. You have to read it to find out all the juicy details!

I love the twists and turns, and I love that Lindy and Wes found their way back to each other to get their HEA.

Thank you Cat Porter for this ARC. The above is my own and personal opinion.

Sin and Surrender has given us the opportunity to spend some much-needed time in Meager, South Dakota. This fictional town Porter created more than 10 years ago has stayed embedded in my soul. Time has moved this little town forward into a thriving metropolis. Businesses have been revitalized giving a new perspective and purpose to the town. However, there is plenty of the old Meager to reminisce as Porter does a tremendous job weaving the old Meager with the new. And new is what we get with Wes and Lindy! A second chance, a fresh start! These two have been to hell and back but didn’t make it through quite whole. That is until their lives take off on a different trajectory. A brief encounter that ignites feelings that lay dormant for the past several years. It was a pleasure to see their story unfold with all the trials and tribulations that ensued. Yet, the immense perseverance they each had to overcome those odds for their love. Thanks to Porter for the visit back to Meager!

Ughhh. Another second chance romance wherein the H was awful to the h and all is forgiven way too easily. In this iteration, Wes pretends to be into Lindy when she’s 16 as part of a revenge plot against her MC. He even plans to drug her and sexually assault her with one of his friends, but in the end backs out- quite the hero, right? Six years later the h claims to hate him, yet the first time they meet again she’s already swooning at how hot he’s gotten. She puts up a badass/woman scorned front for all of about 3 seconds and caves to his “hot alpha” self. It’s actually pretty sickening. And of course she remained a virgin and he f-d every chick with a pulse. He also never made things right with her for all those years. If she hadn’t moved back to town he wouldn’t have either. Boo.

Lots of club drama and back stories to characters that might make this more interesting for those who have read all the other books in this series.

Unfortunately, not for me.

Wes, the kid of the MC, the son of the previous prez and someone who nearly went off the rails when his dad died - thank heavens, Butler (you must read his book!) yes Butler realised what Wes was up too and put a stop to it. He then helped him become the man he is today - and he is one mighty fine man!!

Lindy is back in town for protection from the MC which is where she comes face-to-face with Wes, her first love, several years after he smashed her heart to tiny lil pieces.
I'm a fan, she's a strong lass who has went through a really crappy time and yet is still standing tall.

Can these two get past what he did when she was only 15/16? Is he truly sorry and can he prove it?

It's definitely lighter than books 1-5 and it's quite an easy read. Forgiveness, hope, love and passion - I really enjoyed it.

Back with the men

This is a second chance storyline that I when I read the reason for the parting of ways I wasn't sure they could come back from that. I enjoyed this book, loved the main characters, loved revisiting the brotherhood. I'm an angst kind of lady so will nearly always need more, I would of liked to relive the pivotal moment, there was a slight description but I need to sharply inhale and feel the bubble of anger, Wes and Lindy were great characters so would of liked slightly more angst, but that's me! Still a great book, love the Lock & Key series, still one of my favourite re-reads.

**it would be beneficial (in my opinion) if you have read “The Wind and the Roar” Duet. Some characters roll into this book.

I just love this series! From book one on, the characters, details, all capture your heart. From major mistakes in the beginning, Wes somehow manages to correct the damage and recapture Lindy’s heart. And what a pair they make, absolutely made for each other, true soul mates. Add in the appearances of some of my (still alive) favorite Lock & Key characters, it’s a book that you can’t put down.

Sigh.
Another instalment from the Lock & Key series that has left me enamoured.

Lindy and Wes’s story isn’t an easy one. In their past, Wes committed a grievous sin against Lindy, and she’s not a woman to forgive so easily. But circumstance and an undeniable attraction throws them together again. Can old wounds be healed?

Edge-of-the-seat reading, not that I expected any less from one of Cat’s books.
My heart will be forever in Meager, with these men and women who live life to the fullest and don’t shy away from danger when it comes knocking.

The MC series by Cat Porter has landed back in Meager, South Dakota, where Wes and Lindy had hung out many years prior. As much as things change, some thing stay the same, and the timely reunion of these two has far reaching effects on both parties. In classic Cat Porter style, there are some twists and turns amidst the heartache and serious sparks flying! I loved reuniting on the pages with the MC clubs and the evolving challenges, some of which just couldn't stay buried. All the feels here, and so much love for the story that started with Isi and Wreck.

I will always love 'visiting' Meager as it never disappoints.
This book was no different and it put together pieces that we never knew were missing.
With this new information I'm totally itching for a re read to see if there were any clues that I missed.
Like anything MC related by this author it was very cleverly done. I loved the second chance redemption angle alongside the major secrets exposed.
Definitely recommend and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

Sin & Surrender was pretty good. I loved taking a trip back to Meager, revisiting and catching up with past couples and going on this journey with Wes and Lindy. Their story was a whirlwind of love, steam, angst, action, suspense and betrayal. It was also fraught with danger, riddled with secrets and packed with twists and turns. It was truly an enjoyable read and I can't wait for more. I definitely recommend it.

Finally!!!

I started with Lock and Key and it has been a whirlwind getting here to Wes and Lindy’s story. That only bad thing about reading a Cat Porter book, is it’s so hard to read anything else afterwards. Nothing compares to her writing style. It’s like the characters come to life in a way that only she can. Anticipating the next book and I hope it continues with this series. I can’t get enough.

This engaging second-chance romance looks at trust, betrayal, and survival, mixing strong emotions and vulnerable moments as the characters deal with a dangerous tangle of secrets, lies, and revenge. It also shows how far we’ll go to protect the people we care about, even if it means facing hard truths from the past.

Loved this second chance book! So I read this series out of order and I need to go back to the beginning. Cat Porter is just such a good author. So much detail goes into this book and you can really feel what the characters are going through. I can’t recommend enough. I hope this one gets done in audio!

Compelling Continuation for the series

Cat Porter definitely delivered with Wes and Lindy's story ! It was very well written, intricate, romantic, and a compelling continuation for the series. I think it's another one of the must read books in the series. There was a wealth of club history covered in this one, with some of my favorite characters. I loved it !

Lindy and Wes have history that isn't all that great. Lindy's father is missing and she's under the protection of two mc's. Her father is the only person she has left in the world. Wes broke her heart years ago. Wes is the MC President's son and a tattoo artist. The couple still have insane sexual attraction between them. Will past secrets and betrayals force them apart again?

Welcome back to Meager, I've missed it so much.

Cat Porter's style just takes you by the hand and pulls you back into these people's lives as though you'd never been away.

Wes and Lindy's story is one of second chances and forgiveness. Hold on tight because, as you would expect from this author, its not an easy ride, but the journey is so worth it.

A terrific story and series

This was another great addition to the series. I waited to read Sparkle, a novella about Alicia (Wes' mom) and her new life, which made reading this story about Wes even better. They were both terrific stories that I enjoyed.
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and author.

Wes and Lindy were a complicated couple. They both lost significant individuals in their life. Wes always missed Lindy’s acceptance and love. I enjoyed the other MC characters included in this novel.

Sin & Surrender is the story of Wes and Lindy. It takes place in the world of the Lock & Key series. Cat has created such a wonderful story of the next generation in Meager, South Dakota.

I discovered Cat back in 2022 and have devoured each of the Lock & Key books. This book does not disappoint. Cat’s writing makes you feel like you are right there with the main characters. I had a book hangover when I finished Sin & Surrender. I want to do a reread of this entire series but I still have yet to read “The Wind & the Roar Trilogy”.

Wes and Lindy knew each other as teens. Lindy’s Dad, Pick, is in a rival MC The Flames. Wes is the son of Jump, the former Prez of the One-Eyed Jacks MC.

Without giving anything away, Wes goes off to college and Lindy works at her local diner while dappling in make-up. Unexpected circumstances have Lindy leaving Elk, Nebraska and heading to Meager, South Dakota. I highlighted 80% of chapter 19 - all I can say is hang on tight!

Also, I will never be able to look at strawberry ice cream the same way again!

This is a second chance romance with all the feels!!! Cat catches up on the lives of Butler, Tania, Lock, Grace, Finger, Lenore, and Zoe plus others. Every chapter Zoe is in, she steals the scene!!

Some of my favorite quotes:

“I let out a breath as I took in my bare face in the mirror. No masks, no veils. No bravado. No camouflage. Only me. The me I could share with Wes.”
““Lindy, after pizza can we do makeup?” Zoë’s cheeks flushed pink as she waited for my reply, and Finger let out a hoarse laugh, shaking his head.” (Love, love Zoe)

“You and me can be sisters. And then Violet can be your sister too and Beck could be your brother. If you want?” - Zoe

““But where do all those feelings go? How do they go away?” - Zoe

“My heart thundered in my chest at her easy assessment. Zoë, this gentle vibrant soul who believed in true love and a loving family. Who believed in “perfect.”- Lindy

“we kissed like it was the beginning of something new, something that would last forever. Only in my world, nothing lasted forever.” - Lindy

““We haven’t been playing Legos, Wes, have we?”

“My gaze landed on a pic of a handsome, dark blond guy, bare-chested in a Jacks cut with a young brunette at his side. They were both beaming, his long tattooed arm slung around her shoulders, bottles in their hands, drunk on love, drunk on each other. My finger tapped on the picture. “Why does she seem familiar?” “That’s Grace and her first husband.”

“No matter how much I willed myself to keep hating you, no matter how much I clawed at my heart to get you out, it was always yours.”

“I got us on the road to the Hippie Hole, a classic Black Hills swimming spot.”
