At thirty years old, Paige thinks she's got it all figured out. A job she can sort of live with? Check. Friends? Check. Family? Check. Granted, Paige wishes she could spend more time with them, but despite the distance, they are still close in heart.
She knows what each day would look like. That is until her grandmother purchases a Bed and Breakfast, and expects Paige to be the one to renovate it!
Now, with only two months to go until the New Year-and the arrival of the guests with prior renovations for the "old" Bed and Breakfast, Paige and her family will begin a holiday journey they never imagined.
But will this journey fill them with holiday cheer... or leave them out in the cold?
In “Home for the Holidays” by Kathryn D. Hull, thirty-year-old Paige Donovan never expected her grandmother to ask her to take a leave from her job to work at a property she had impulsively purchased. Her grandmother saw a local piece of property that had a functioning bed-and-breakfast on it. They were selling, and after a dream she had, knew she needed to buy it. She figured she would employ the entire family to help her modernize it and turn it into an inn. The first job she offered was to Paige to run the whole renovation to the property. The only problem was that Paige didn’t have any experience doing such a monumental job as this. After some deep soul searching, Paige agreed to help.
Unfortunately, as the project was underway, Paige realized that this whole idea of renovation was crazy and when she found out it had to be done in a short amount of time, she nearly lost her senses. But with her determination, and plenty of manpower from family and friends, Paige pushed through the obstacles in hopes they would meet the tight deadline that was already set because new customers were already booked for the New Year. Will Paige be able to pull off the renovations in time for the new customers to stay at the inn?
This was an enjoyable read right from the very first page. Such a wonderful holiday story idea! Ms. Hull developed well-rounded characters that were believable enough you wanted to make friends with them yourself. They all wanted to pitch in to accomplish this dream and all put their blood, sweat, and tears into this project. To see the relationships strengthening over the time of renovation was remarkable to witness. It was a joy to see Paige growing in her strength and determination to accomplish this huge goal ahead of her and to see how the family came together and worked as one unit to accomplish every goal that needed to be done in order to turn the older bed-and-breakfast into a modernized inn that people would come from all over to enjoy their stay there.
This is one story where you find yourself investing your time and energy into the well-developed storyline and characters and you truly want to see Paige and her family and friends pull this off to please her grandmother. It was a pleasure reading this feel-good story and you easily can walk away hoping to see a follow-up story to this one.
