Jason is successful, confident, and unlovable. Living in the heart of Soho with his found family brothers, he masks his trauma with more sass than you can throw glitter at. After love burned him once, he vowed never to let it happen again. One night, one time, no attachments. That’s how he survives and protects his heart.
Patrick knows loss too well. His husband’s sudden death shattered his world, and he believes he’ll never feel that kind of connection again. Then Jason storms into his life. A pint-sized spitfire with haunted eyes. Fifteen years younger than him, a boy who he shouldn’t want but can’t resist. Patrick’s daddy instincts are to hold, to heal, to care, but Jason refuses to be saved.
Their undeniable attraction spans a year of push and pull, as all of Jason’s brothers find their happy endings around him, leaving him with the possibility of being alone, as he has been all his life. When Jason gives into his desire for Patrick, his past mistakes come back to bite him. His ex-husband, a ruthless mob boss, wants him back. And he doesn’t care who gets hurt in the process.
In the explosive final chapter of the Soho Knights series, all the questions will finally be answered. Will everyone’s baby brother, Jason, finally get the happily ever after he truly deserves, or will it come at the price of another devastating loss?
Although this book can be read as a standalone, the timeline runs across the entire series, so does include spoilers for the other books in the Soho Knights series. These aren't excessive, but not possible to avoid completely.
The (slow-burn) romance was lovely (so points for that) but unfortunately overall it was a bust.
I was super excited for Jason and Patrick with all the teasing in book one. And even though the author advises to read this book after all the others (while they can basically be read out of order) I skipped the others and went straight for this one.
I expected spoilers for the previous books, yes. Which I didn’t mind because I don’t intend on reading them. What I didn’t expect was that parts of Jason’s story (part of the five-men friends group this series is about) were already parts of previous books (which is also fine) but weren’t revisited here in this book and were only one-sentenced. Even though these moments were trivial to Jason’s journey. Why am I missing out here?
So I guess it wasn’t about spoilers but I was actually expected to read all of these books to get the whole picture and all relevant moments to THIS BOOK’S CHARACTERS.
Yeah, you guessed right. I’m pretty mad about that. Maybe if this was my only complaint…
Anyhow, it’s over now. Not recommended to read as a standalone.
********** Soho Knights Series
Book 1 - Perfect Night - 4.0 stars Book 2 - Dangerous Attraction Book 3 - Stolen Dream Book 4 - Convenient Rivals Book 5 - Broken Promises - 3.5 stars
I was looking forward to reading Jason and Patrick's story and it didn't disappoint. I enjoyed learning about Jason's past and what made him be the flirty one-night-stand guy, but there was so much more to him than what he showed and Patrick was quick to realise it. Patrick was a widow trying to carry on with his life after losing his husband. I liked him a lot because he was a very centered guy, who cared about his friends and had a huge heart. He was reluctant to get into a relationship because he was still dealing with grief but I could tell from the beginning he was perfect for Jason. This story had a bit of everything. There was Jason's past coming after him and the challenge that Patrick had to face to win him over. I loved how they started spending time together because Patrick knew exactly what Jason needed even if Jason himself didn't. Patrick was patient and dedicated, and I loved that about him. For some reason I couldn't hate Jason's ex-husband. Yes, he was dangerous and I don't intend to justify his revenge, but somehow I understand him because he was hurt, and a man like him didn't know how else to get over a break-up. So yes, I hope we get to see Grant's redemption. I've immensely enjoyed this whole series, but I kinda feel like Jason's book is special, maybe because of the ADHD rep and it's something that I live with closeby. The author did an amazing job with Jason and I couldn't help but laugh when his thoughts got sidetracked. I can't wait what this author brings next as I'm already a fan of his and I'll just read everything he writes.
Jason’s presence throughout all the books has been delightful — funny, heartfelt, and a little bittersweet at times. Knowing pieces of his story along the way made it even more satisfying to finally get the full picture. Watching him find a family that accepts every part of him, and then finding that same acceptance in a partner, was really special.
I did have a moment where I thought… “this is a lot of sex” 😂 but then I remembered whose story this is — and honestly, it fits perfectly lol.
Patrick’s journey also stood out. Being a widow can make you shut yourself off from love, but the fact that he chose to try again made his connection with Jason even more meaningful. He found what he was missing, and it brought everything together beautifully.
As for the audiobook — it was so nice hearing fresh voices, and even better when they deliver. James Joseph and Derek Duvall did a phenomenal job bringing this story to life. 🎧
This entire series has been such a treat, and I really hope more people tap into the Soho Knights.
Thank you to Bluenose for this ALC — it was a TIME! ✨
What an amazing finale to a brilliant series, I am going to miss the Soho guys. This is Jason and Patrick's story and I am glad Jason has been tamed abit and Patrick has found love again. I highly recommend this series but you must start with book 1 to enjoy these guys.
I’d been eager to finally dive into Jason and Patrick’s story, and it completely lived up to the anticipation. As the final installment in the Soho Knights series, it felt like the perfect send-off—emotional, layered, and deeply satisfying.
Jason has always come across as the charming, carefree flirt, the kind of guy who keeps things surface-level and avoids anything too real. But this book reveals so much more beneath that exterior. His past, his struggles, and especially his ADHD are portrayed with such care and authenticity, adding depth to a character who was already intriguing. Watching his thoughts spiral and shift felt both real and, at times, genuinely funny.
Patrick, on the other hand, brings a calm and steady presence to the story. As a widower still navigating his grief, he’s cautious about opening his heart again, yet there’s a warmth and strength to him that makes him impossible not to love. He’s thoughtful, grounded, and incredibly kind—not just to Jason, but to everyone around him. From the start, it’s clear that he sees Jason for who he truly is, even when Jason can’t see it himself.
What really stood out to me was how naturally they fit together. Patrick offers patience, understanding, and quiet support, while Jason brings light, energy, and a spark that slowly helps Patrick begin to heal. Their connection builds in a way that feels genuine and earned, and their journey together is both tender and powerful.
The story doesn’t shy away from heavier elements either. Jason’s past resurfaces in a way that adds tension and emotional weight, and even his ex-husband, Grant, is written with a complexity that makes him difficult to completely resent. While his actions aren’t excusable, there’s a layer of pain behind them that adds nuance to his character, and it left me hoping there might be some form of redemption for him down the line.
This book really delivers on every level—emotion, romance, conflict, and those beautiful found-family moments that make the series so special. It’s heartfelt, intense, and at times incredibly moving, leaving a lasting impression long after the final page.
I also have to mention the audiobook experience—Derrick Duvall and James Joseph brought Jason and Patrick to life in such a compelling way. Their performances captured the emotional depth and complexity of both characters beautifully, adding another layer to an already powerful story.
Overall, this felt like a truly memorable conclusion to the Soho Knights series. Jason and Patrick’s story stands out in a special way, and I already know I’ll be following whatever Oliver Takely writes next.
Audiobook: This audio is narrated by Derek Duvall and James Joseph, who made a fantastic team for this duet narration. I also want to point out that this was produce by Blue Nose audio - I listen to a TON of audiobooks and can confidently say that their productions are among the very best! First, Derek Duvall and James Joseph both have yummy voices! It was a delightTe to listen to this audio and not just because I enjoyed the story lol. I could listen to them taking turns reading the dictionary! The voices for all the characters were distinct, including slightly different accents appropriate to class and region, so I always knew who was speaking. The female characters sounded female and appropriate as well. Both narrators emoted well - I could feel the pain, the love, the lust, everything!
This book concludes the series and wraps up the stories of all the 'brothers'. I began this series with the first book and so I'm familiar with all the characters and this finale does them justice. I am sad to leave this world, but so happy all the boys get their HEAs. From the beginning of the series, Jason has been the most intriguing character! I have been so interested to get the backstory for this sassy, darling twink who finally gets just the right Daddy for him. I knew Jason's background was going to be tragic and devastating and well, it really was. I felt so much for him, growing up like that, dealing with what he had to endure. But his trauma didn't end in childhood, alas. Even as an adult, he was left emotionally bereft by people who were supposed to love him, so it's clear why he became who he became.
Luckily for Jason, we see hints at just who will be the right man for him very early on ( so yes! We are teased with his story all the way through the series). We meet Patrick in book one as well - he is a kind and good friend to Sebastian, though he is burdened by grief. I also grew to adore him, especially through the love he shows his friend and then to Jason. Patrick just gets Jason and is able to show him just how worthy of love he is...*tears*. He is a good and patient Daddy to Jason, who has major ADHD along with all his trauma.
There are multiple bumps on the road to Jason's and Patrick's HEA and that includes a villain of the story. This villain is written deftly and isn't at all one dimensional. I know he's the bad guy but I'm low key hoping for redemption for him and maybe his own book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and how everything is wrapped up for all the boys! I can't wait to read more from this author!
This is the fifth audiobook in Oliver Takely’s fantastic MM romance series, Soho Knights. This entire series has been phenomenal, and this installment is no exception. I loved it from start to finish! This is Jason and Patrick’s story. And let me tell you, it was well worth the wait. Sassy-pants Jason is by far my favorite character! I love all the characters, but Jason has a special place in my heart. He’s just a little splash of sexy, sassy, foul-mouthed sunshine! We finally get to hear his full backstory, and this man has been through it! His carefree, aggressively-flirty demeanor is his mask, and he hides behind it to protect himself. Turns out all he really needed was the right Daddy to heal his battered heart. And Patrick is definitely up to the task. Though their journey to love is certainly not an easy one—fraught with angst, fear, and misunderstandings—their story is all the more beautiful for it. Patrick had his hands full with his boy, trying to heal his heart while also trying to protect his own as he fell hard for Jason. It seemed every time he managed to knock Jason’s walls down, he’d quickly rebuild them even higher. For a long time, it was definitely one step forward, two steps back with these guys. But when they finally figured it out, I wanted to cheer. This couple for sure got under my skin in all the best ways. This story is chocked full of everything that makes MM romance so wonderful, with tons of passion, emotion, witty banter, romance, spicy-spice, and one of the best found families I’ve ever encountered in this genre. This was such a satisfying conclusion to the series, and I seriously cannot recommend it highly enough.
Adding to the overall deliciousness of this story is the fantastic duet-style narration from James Joseph and Derek Duvall. Both of their performances are perfection personified as they completely inhabit their characters. They deliver layered and impactful character portrayals with emotional and passionate dialogue that you can’t help but feel. Together, they bring this story to life so beautifully. With their amazing performances and Oliver Takely’s incredible prose, this audiobook is an absolute must for any fan of MM romance.
The final instalment of the Soho Knights series truly delivers a poignant and fulfilling conclusion with Jason and Patrick’s story. As the series draws to a close, readers are treated to an exploration of authenticity and vulnerability, particularly through Jason’s character. Known previously as a flirtatious and light-hearted presence, this book delves into his complex layers, portraying his past and struggles with ADHD with sincerity and depth. This insight into his character allows for an engaging narrative that balances humour and introspection. Patrick, serving as the emotional anchor of the story, is portrayed as a compassionate widower who is slowly learning to open his heart once more. His cautious yet warm nature provides the perfect foil to Jason’s vibrant energy. The dynamic between them is beautifully crafted, with Patrick’s patience and understanding serving as the perfect complement to Jason’s lively spirit, fostering healing and growth in both characters. The narrative doesn’t shy away from addressing weighty themes, weaving in elements from Jason’s past that add tension and emotional depth. Even Grant, Jason’s ex-husband, is depicted with layers that invite empathy despite his actions, suggesting the possibility of redemption. Overall, this instalment is a masterful blend of emotional resonance and authentic character development, making it a satisfying and memorable conclusion to the series. The audiobook produced by Blue Nose Audio truly stands out, thanks to the remarkable performances of Derek Duvall and James Joseph. Their portrayal of Jason and Patrick brings the characters to life in a way that captures every nuance and emotion, making the story even more engaging for listeners. Duvall and Joseph skilfully navigate the emotional depth and complexity of their characters, adding richness and texture to the narrative. Their dynamic performances elevate the audiobook, creating an immersive experience that resonates with audiences and enhances the storytelling crafted by the original authors.
I enjoyed this book but it didn’t pack the same punch as the other books in the series for me. I also thought that it was a good conclusion to the Soho Knights Series. Jason & Patrick’s happily ever after is definitely hard fought but well deserved. Jason went through so much during his childhood and it’s no wonder that’s he has abandonment issues. It’s only been six months since Patrick lost his husband George at the start of this book. He isn’t really ready to start dating but as soon as he locks eyes with Jason he knows that there could be something special between them but it’s not the right time plus Jason isn’t looking for anything other than one night, they start off as friends which eventually turns into so much more.
I liked how their relationship progressed throughout and it’s exactly what they both need. I’m looking forward to going back and reading Charlie & Sebastian’s book, Perfect Night as I started with Langdon & Eric’s book, Dangerous Attraction. I’ve pre-ordered Cancelled for Christmas (New York Knights Series), as well as the next two books in the Sinful Knights Series which I’m really looking forward to reading when they’re released. I’d recommend this book, series and author to others.
******I received a complimentary copy of this book through GRR. I would still happily review this book even if I purchased it myself. My thoughts and feelings about this book are completely unbiased******
This is the book that brings it all together. If you're behind on the Soho Knights, you need to catch up, because the series is incredible; however, you cannot read this book on its own. You will see the beginning of relationships, better understand others, and all the intertwining in between.
Patrick and Jason are a Daddy who recently lost his boy, but when a windstorm of a boy falls in his lap, he is hard to resist. Jason is a boy who desperately needs a Daddy, but he has been there(not really) and is working on the divorce; he is a hummingbird flitting about to get his fill of nectar. But he meets the perfect Daddy, but he wrapped up in a "I don't do casual " bow, and Jason is the crown prince of casual. But some moments bring a boy to a Daddy, and the Daddy has to care for the boy the best way he knows how; however, this would not be an SK story without some drama, and the drama in this one is spelled with a capital D. We learned about this drama at the end of book 4. Still, now we get to know the ins and outs. We also get to see the many layers of Jason and why he operates in the way that he does.
Patrick and Jason earn this HEA, but it's a tough road, and at times, it doesn't seem like they could ever make it. I loved this series, and I love the spin-off. This was a delightful group of men to get to know and love.
4.5 stars This is an enjoyable book that is well written, fast paced, and has remarkable characters. Patrick is a successful man, he is fifteen years older than Jason, but despite still nursing a broken heart from the sudden death of his husband, he is inexplicable drawn to the fiesty, yet troubled young man. Jason is a more complex character, he is fabulously gay, and his overt sassiness and sexuality is a huge part of him, but it is also used as a shield to protect his heart and hide his sadness. Jason is surprised that he can't stop thinking of Patrick, even though their meeting was brief. Their romance is truly slow burn as they take the time to really get to know one another before going full steam ahead. Jason is slowly healing Patrick's heart while Patrick begins to understand Jason on a deeper level, one that no one else does - even his found family brothers. Their chemistry is explosive, the connection between them is profound, and the love they grow is everything. There is so much to enjoy in this book, from amazing characters - both main and secondary - to the secrets, threats, found family, determination, steamy sexy times, found family, tremendous love, unbreakable bonds, and an ending that will leave you smiling.
I received an ARC from GRR, this is my honest opinion.
The final instalment in the Soho Knights series, Broken Promises by Oliver Takely delivers another delicious MM story which sees Patrick, daddy, attempt to tame the sassy boy, Jason.
I particularly enjoyed the dynamic with Patrick and Jason, and how quickly their connection sparked a relationship neither were expecting. You never know who you may happen to meet.
Patrick, a widower is dealing with the loss of his husband and now navigating what’s next for his future. Then he meets, Jason.
Jason has always felt abandoned and rejected by the people closest to him. Will Patrick be different and what will he offer Jason? I couldn’t wait to find out.
The cheeky banter between these two is balanced with just the right intensity and emotion, I can hear a blend of confidence and uncertainty as these two characters wade through their now.
While I was a little unsure about the daddy/boy aspect it worked for these characters. Even if I did cringe a little when they addressed each other. That’s on me!
James Joseph and Derek Duvall had me captivated throughout this book. A flawless performance from both actors. In particular the banter, which encompassed everything from humour, sass, passion to pure joy!
Thank you Oliver for an engaging story and to Blue Nose Audio for an incredibly entertaining advanced listener copy.
Patrick and Jason, I’ve been waiting for their story! It’s a daddy/boy romance, and “Broken Promises” is the last book in the awesome Soho Knights series. I’m going to miss these guys. I devoured this book in one night because it’s so well-written and flows perfectly.
Jason is a little firecracker that Patrick wants and needs. It’s heartbreaking to read about Jason’s tough childhood and how he turned his life around as a teen and young adult— ! Patrick, being a widower, wasn’t looking for a relationship until he met Jason. Jason needed someone to take care of him, and Patrick stepped right up in that role.
Jason’s sass is hilarious, and Patrick knows just how to handle him. Overall, this book is riveting! What an amazing series.
I’ve been waiting for Patrick and Jason’s story, and Broken Promises was worth the wait! This daddy/boy romance is the final book in the amazing Soho Knights series, and I’m really going to miss these characters.
Jason is a fiery, sassy little spitfire, and Patrick is the steady, caring partner he never knew he needed. Their chemistry is electric, their story heartfelt, and the writing is smooth and engaging—I devoured it in one sitting. A perfect end to a fantastic series!
Oliver Takely delivers another emotional rollercoaster in this heartfelt continuation of the Daddy/Boy saga, wrapping up the tangled threads of Book 4 and plunging headfirst into vulnerability, healing, and — yes — drama with a capital D. Patrick, still grieving his lost boy, is grounded yet tender, a Daddy whose heart has been left bruised but not broken. Then comes Jason — chaotic, charming, and desperately untethered — a whirlwind in human form. Jason flits into Patrick’s life like a hummingbird in search of something sweet, stirring up everything Patrick swore he wouldn’t feel again. Their dynamic dances between tension and tenderness: Patrick, with his "I don't do casual" armor, and Jason, the unapologetic prince of casual. But moments — fleeting and fierce — begin to reveal something deeper. And as the layers of Jason are carefully peeled back, what emerges is a boy longing for safety, connection, and genuine love. Of course, it wouldn’t be an SK tale without a dramatic twist. As their story unfolds, the question isn’t just whether Patrick and Jason can make it work — it’s whether love can thrive when both hearts have weathered such storms. Their Happily Ever After (HEA) isn’t handed to them. It’s earned. Grittily, emotionally, and beautifully.
Set in motion very early on in Perfect Night, the first book in the series, Jason and Patrick have been dominating every page they appeared on, demanding their story be told, but Oliver made us wait till now. Broken Promises ended the series perfectly, with all the friends and their partners in fine form and HEAs all round. Jason's family history was so sad, as was Patrick's, but their marital experiences couldn't have been more different. A grieving Patrick and a separated but seeking a divorce Jason only needed one look to know there was something special there. It wasn't easy to get to their HEA but it didn't stop them fighting for it, no matter what obstacles were thrown in their path. The friend group was the heart of the story, as it had been throughout the series. Warm, supportive, loving, brothers since they met at university, it has been a real pleasure to spend time with them, and as the series progressed I loved how their partners were welcomed into the family. The rite of passage at K.C.'s was always fun. The series would be much better read in order, as each one builds on the last and also run concurrently.
Fifth in series (Soho Knights), can be read as a standalone but might be better if read in order. Age gap. Daddy/boy. Hurt/comfort. Dual POV.
Two years ago Jason returned to London and his playboy lifestyle, but his years away from his found family hides secrets he doesn’t want anyone to know. Meeting Jason soon after his husband’s death, Patrick is intrigued and knows the timing isn’t right, but over time as their lives intersect he is certain Jason can be his future.
Throughout the series Jason has been a chaos gremlin and such a fun part of the group of guys that have all found love, and Patrick appreciates Jason with all his over the top antics. I really liked that Jason was a force to be reckoned with in his professional life, but still needed to surround himself with his supportive friends and someone that would accept him all the way like Patrick does. There was a lot of back and forth with Jason and Patrick and I wish they spent more time together on page, but this was a good finale for the group in Soho. Overall a good read and ending to a solid series.
I enjoyed listening to the duet narration of James Joseph and Derek Duvall. I was captured from start to finish.
I instantly fell in love with Patrick and his caring patient daddy personality. I ached for Jason and wanted to wrap him in a hug. His story brought me to tears. We also get to see the soft loving side of Grant and my heart ached for him. I am sure we will be seeing a story about him in the future.
There are bits of the story that I felt were glossed over but I think this might have been because I didn’t hear the series from the beginning!
This is only my second book from this series but I have already fallen in love with the brothers and their Soho Knights.
I do think that the series would be more enjoyable if you read / listen from beginning to end so you can get the back stories on all the different characters. I know I will be going back to the start to capture the other brothers’ stories.
I really enjoyed the tone and sound from the narrators. They did a good job bringing the characters to life. The begging was fantastic.
I will say this is my first book by this author and it doesn't completely feel like it should be a standalone. I felt like some details were just glossed over as I assume they were present in the other books.
Jason was such a sweetheart who really just needed someone to love and challenge him. His ex was terrible to him.
Patrick lost his partner and hasn't been interested in anyone else until Jason walked in. Unfortunately Jason was in his hit it and quit it era so Patrick has to work for more.
I think this had huge potential so I think if I had read them all it would have been so much better. The connection with the "brothers" was so sweet and I wanted more of it.
For me the Daddy/boy dynamic is very hot or miss. I think it worked really well in this book and was really hot to listen to Jason begging Daddy for what he wanted. And Daddy calling out his brat.
Thanos, broken dildo, Blanche, MS, rite of passage, AMA, full English, was it cheating?, hot office porn, purple & yellow
What a spectacular end to the 'Soho Knights' series! I'm truly sad to see it's over. I love the Soho 'brothers' and each of their stories. We revisit them and their current lives. Each one is uniquely great at who they are with their personality and their place in the brotherhood. They are fiercely loyal and loving in their one-of-a-kind friendship.
"Broken Promises" features Daddy Patrick and Soho brother Jason. Most of the angst is Jason's with all his baggage. Patrick sees the boy potential in Jason. He's attracted to the boy's fiery and snarky uniqueness. Patrick is supremely patient with Jason and his drama. It's what makes him the perfect daddy for Jason.
I read this story fervidly and savored each word. That's how much I enjoyed this book. I know you'll love this book, too.
Story - ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Spice - 🌶🌶🌶 Narration - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Broken Promises is book #5 (and final installment 😢) of the Soho Knights series. Jason and Patrick have both suffered hurt and loss. Jason is a young professional, but a party boy with no repeats. Patrick is older, a widower, and only interested in another long term relationship. Patrick can see through Jason's facade that he shows to everyone and recognizes the loneliness and hurt. Their story plays throughout the series and it has been a tug of war between them. I'm so happy to finally see them get their HEA!! I absolutely loved this story, this series, and I'm so sad to see it end!! 😭
The duet narration is absolutely brilliant! James Joseph and Derek Duvall really complemented each other with their voicing. These two completely sold the age-gap romance, the spiciest spice, and the heartfelt emotions between their characters. 5/5 this-is-the-end stars!!
I will admit the cute sweet thing on the cover drew me to this but, but wow the story kept me invested. I can almost guarantee this one will get under you heard and it will be a read in one sitting (it did and was for me). Jason is all emotions, shuts off love and only does hookups as he has been burned to many times; Patrick recovering from death of husband never expected to feel such feeling again but seeing Jason does it for him. Chemisty off the chart, but on different pages, it was fun to watch them get on the same page. Both suffer from pain from past and sometimes we learn the pain comes back to haunt us, and must be dealt with before we can find HEA. Such is the path of these two men. It was fun to watch Patrick try to save Jason when he had no need to be saved. A great read. You will not be disappointed. I did receive an ARC and leave this honest review.
Broken Promises 🎧 By Oliver Takely Performed by: James Joseph & Derek Duvall
Aww. And here we are, at the end of our time with our new besties. And Oliver saved the best for last. Jason, all around f*k boy and life of the party. And now we know why. He’s no different than any of us, running from a life he didn’t hate, but wasn’t fulfilling . Doing all his shenanigans to hide his heart and his truth. Here comes Patrick. The Daddy who sees him for who he is and wants him all the same. Their story closes out this series and I’m going to miss them. All 5 couples will live in my heart forever. Thank you to BlueNose Audio for the ALC and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Both narrators did a fabulous job. They are new to me, and I truly hope I will be hearing more from them. Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️ Narration: 🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️
Such a bummer to hit book 5. I hope Oliver Takely has a bunch of other series in the pipeline.
We got some previews of this book from the other four in the series, and I am sure everyone was trying to figure out Jason and Patrick before this book came out. But Broken Promises does a wonderful job of laying out the pasts of both characters and making us understand why their relationship unfolds so patiently and deliberately.
The only thing that bugged me about this book - and I understand he's a dangerous criminal - but Grant (Jason's husband) gets off so easy, even though Patrick has amassed all this data about him. I know it's all about protecting Jason, but what about Grant's next obsession? What about the other people at his mercy?
This is a story your read with tears in your eyes and a smile on your face. Jason, is living his good life, but it is not his true life. He left Grant, his ex thinking himself unwanted. He believes he is unlovable because people seem to leave him. He hides his pain behind a shield of sass. Jason, has major esteem issues that drive his non relationship life. Patrick, is still grieving for his boy/husband, George then he meets Jason and realizes there is still hope for him. The found family solid in their support are one of the best elements in this story. Jason's and Patrick's journey is not easy, but it is well fought. Great story, nicely done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
✨I received an advance copy of this book at no charge. This is my honest, voluntary review.✨
I’m so sad the series is over😭 But what a wonderful way to finish it. Jason deserved his happy ending and who better than Patrick to give it to him.
Patrick treasured Jason BEFORE they were anything and to me, that made him the best man ever. His first instinct was to protect him and hunt down anyone who hurt him. He never wanted to see anything but a smile on Jason’s face. A keeper for sure.
Jason never had anyone to keep and love him. The man he thought he loved, emotionally abandoned him and though I don’t agree with how Jason handled his loneliness, I do agree it was a cry for help. He just wanted to feel wanted and Grant forgot how to do that.
Patrick didn’t want to jump into things with Jason despite how much Jason insisted. Especially not so soon after losing his husband. Somehow he knew Jason wasn’t someone he could have just once. He wanted to keep him, but Jason was jaded after everything that happened and all he wanted was a one and done kind of relationship.
But Patrick was patient. He knew Jason was someone worth it and he would wait for him. More so after finding out who Jason’s ex was. He wouldn’t let Jason go back to his ex no matter what it cost him.
Patrick was the best daddy to Jason. He never wanted to dim his light or keep him from following his dreams. He loved his sass and independence. He knew how to handle his lack of focus and never considered him to be too much. He truly loved all him.
I have loved this series so much. Each of these men have lived through really hard times and somehow came out on top. They had their hearts broken one way or another but found men who loved and accepted them the way they are. Their friendship is life goals.
I have really enjoyed this entire series, and this was a great end! Jason was a twink with a hidden past that regularly called his hook ups Daddy, but didn't really know what that meant until he met Patrick. Patrick was a Daddy with a husband that had recently died when he happened upon beautiful Jason, which was the boy he really needed in his life. Patrick was worried about whether he had grieved for George long enough, while Jason worried his past would turn Patrick off to them becoming more. This book was a lot of fun, and Jason is the lady of the brothers to find his soul mate. I look forward to Mr Takely's next series,as this one has been a lot of fun!
Wow—this finale really kicked it in the best way, packed with emotions! Two souls, lost and adrift, find that there’s always a second chance at love and happiness waiting just around the corner. 💖
Patrick is still grieving the loss of his husband and believes love is no longer possible for him—until he meets Jason. Together, they discover that healing is possible. Jason needs Patrick just as much as Patrick needs him, and along the way they learn that despite all the obstacles in their path, they are stronger than ever.
A beautiful, heartfelt journey that proves true love can weather any storm. 🌈✨
I jumped into the Soho Knights series with this finale and had zero trouble keeping up. Jason is everything — sassy, guarded, and absolutely convinced he doesn’t deserve love. His slow burn with Patrick (aka Daddy 🥵) is so good, and just when you think you know what you’re in for, a mob boss ex-husband shows up and suddenly I’ve blown my entire afternoon because I could NOT stop listening.
James Joseph and Derek Duvall are phenomenal together — the chemistry just pours right through the headphones. Dual narration done perfectly.
Now I have to go back and read the whole series. Thanks for nothing, Oliver Takely. 🖤😩
The title of this story really speaks to the journey that leads us to this point in Jason's life. He has been through some difficult things from early on in his life and just when he thought it was getting better - toxic ex. The loss of his partner leaves Patrick grieving and thinking that he has already had the love that would be in his life. These two deserve something better - each other and although there are still a few things to deal with on their way to the HEA, I was rooting for them sincerely. They deserved it. I received an ARC from GRR and am voluntarily leaving a review.
