Hell's Secret Omega

Rate this book
Some call me a god. He calls me an alpha.
I lost everything when the world ended three hundred years ago. I never thought I would find something—or someone—to live for.

He’s the omega who changes everything.

Cyrus is a demon of the Court with a deadly he’s an omega. A spy for the King, his designation is locked behind a brash facade. His fearlessness awakens desire in me. But I can’t afford distractions.

When an order from the King brings us together, my presence triggers Cyrus’s heat. Under the scent blockers and the uptight, prickly exterior, I uncover an omega who can match my passion with fire.

Then we bond.

I know I should keep away.

Instead, I’ll show him how omegas should be treated—spoiled, treasured, and kept safe. But when Cyrus’s secret comes under threat, I’m forced to admit it’s not just an arrangement.

I’m his heat alpha—nothing more. Yet in my arms, he feels like mine.

Hell's Secret Omega is the second book in the Court of the Hollow King series. This book can be read as a standalone but I feel it is better after reading Demon's Captive Mate the first book in the series. This is Mezor an alpha demon and Cyrus a secret omega demons story. I loved the characters and world building in this book and series. This book was intense and sometimes heartbreaking with betrayals, steam, danger, and an amazing plot. I would definitely recommend this book and series.

I don't understand...

Why was this so captivating?

“Vergis are more precious than gold. Any primus would burn the world down for a vergis in heat.”

“But vergis are weak—and weakness is pathetic—”

“Vergis are not weak.”

This is the second book to the series and I just can't get enough. Mezor and Cyrus are literally everything. From the initial hate in the beginning to the budding feelings of love that surfaced without none of the anticipating was such a joy to read.

Mezor is thee standard. He is gentle, protective, big, strong, hot and wow. He is one of the reasons I have such high standards (sorry not sorry) and the way he handles Cyrus, our little traumatized, broken omega, with so much care had my heart melting. I love Mezor so such.

Cyrus. My heart quakes for him. He has been through so much and hides behind a mask so that he's secret isn't exposed. The lengths he was willing to go for that secret to remain secret had me wanting to give him a hug. Mezor was the perfect shoulder to lean on for Cyrus. They compliment each other so well.

If you enjoy books with accidental bonds, helping hands during heats, huge knottings, magic, size difference, horn sensitivity, possessiveness and MCs with a deep rooted hunger for one another, then I wholeheartedly recommend this.

An Unexpected Treasure . . .

This storyline focuses on demons in a different way than readers of supernatural characters are traditionally familiar with. Theirs is a story of unexpected love when Mezor and Cyrus are brought together and eventually find what each has longed for. Mezor is an alpha whose protective instincts made him realize that Cyrus was someone to be loved and cherished, an omega hiding that fact and keeping his own secrets but wanting the same things as Mezor, someone of his own to love him completely. Working together, their proximity puts Cyrus into heat and the two bond. Have they inadvertently put themselves in jeopardy by falling in love? Full of danger, betrayal, deception, and love, this story will keep the reader’s full attention as we follow their journey to an uncertain future.

**I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review**

4.5 Stars

An excellent continuation of the series with a couple callbacks from the first book. I adore this universe and love seeing the lore expand. Cyrus was precious and Mezor was excellent.

It was cool to see a book that was, to some extent, demon/demon rather than the demonic/angelic dynamics we’ve seen in books 1 and 2. Makes me wonder if we’ll get an angel/angel story next or finally learn what the king’s backstory is.

Spice: 3-4/5
Angst: 2-3/5

Intense, immersive and even heart breaking!
Cyrus hides his designation at all costs in a court where intrigue and deception are in every corner, until the evil king sends him in mission with Mezor and there starts their story with them struggling their feelings in the midst of constant danger, adrenaline, betrayals and deceptions.
An intense love story with a very good world building, a multilayered plot and characters that call to the heart.
My praise to Sera Bishop for what is, probably the best book of the series so far!
I highly recomend!

I would like to thank GRR for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

Ahhhh I love this series so much! it's just brimming with knotty goodness, sweet sincere abiding love, and one of the more creative, dystopian takes on the angel-demon-human divide i have ever read before!

I thought this was a great second book in the series, introducing environmental healing via tree planting that made my heart soar ngl! There was just so much to love about this installment! There's the gorgeous expansion on the worldbuilding, the continued grievances and agitations within the rebel factions, Cyrus' scrappy resourcefulness and Mezor's poignant history, all coming together to make this a multifaceted and entertaining read that i could not get enough of!

I think Sera Bishop is a phenomenal writer who never ceases to amaze me, and i am 100% a fan of the Court of the Hollow King because of how well-defined and layered each book is! The characterization is always so rich and super-seated, because at the end of each book i can legit sit and think in detail about the players who had girth and presence to move the plot with substance.

In this series, the various landscapes of turmoil provoked many iterations of transformation and triumph, and i was completely invested in all the characters, even the grimy ones! their journey through their trials and tribulations were even more impactful because every choice mattered. I loved the energetic complexity of the challenges Cyrus and Mezor faced in both love and life. Toothy and raw, with bouts of tenderness alongside smokin' hot loving, gave me everything i came for and more!

From beginning to end i was enthralled by Hell's Secret Omega, and i am so happy that i loved this book just as much as the first! Court of the Hollow King is a gorgeous sexy series, and i cannot wait for whatever else Sera Bishop releases in the future because THIS was marvelous! Loved it!

I enjoyed the first story of the Court of the Hollow King, so I was really excited to see more of the world Sera Bishop created. The tropes for this story include: accidental mating, enemies to lovers, size difference, knotting.

We meet Cyrus, a demon who is on the smaller side and is treated poorly. He works under the Quartermaster by logging the supply store. Cyrus is a secret omega, or in this universe the vergis, and tries to adamantly hide his nature by covering himself with a jellylike substance that hides his scent.

After the coup against the King in the first book, Cyrus remains on the king’s side and regularly updates him with information regarding the goings on of the court. Mezor is also a demon who is also on the side of the king. Mezor is a primus, or alpha, unknowingly triggers the heat for Cyrus and thus a bond is formed when these two have sex. There is a bit of angst that follows as Mezor is on a mission of his own to help restore hell which requires a self-sacrificing nature, so he tries to distance himself. But the two find themselves tied by the bond trying to figure out how to move forward in the current circumstances.

The world building felt more involved from the first book. I think it helped that we have someone who worked inside the court, so we are able to see how things flowed more appropriately. I felt much more involved and enjoyed reading more about the outside of the court as well.

I loved the relationship between Cyrus and Mezor because we see two beings who just want to be happy after a lifetime of horrible circumstances. This book was definitely my favorite of the series so far and I can’t wait to see where the author continues the next story.

I definitely recommend giving this series a shot!

I am really loving the world building of this series - I get completely lost in the books and I become invested in the characters and their HEAs. Cyrus and Mezor were such a good match; I liked their chemistry and how the dynamic between them changed throughout the story. Cyrus had so many layers and it was good to see him vulnerable, strong and everything in between. The plot was interesting and the overarching storyline has kept me guessing, with twists and turns I didn't see coming. I loved how protective Mezor was and the chemistry they had together was explosive. The HEA was good and made me think that perhaps they'll meet Rone and Vasia from book 1 at some point. The only reason I've gone with 4 stars and not 5 is that, towards the end, I think Mezor was just a tad too self-sacrificing about hell rather than for Cyrus. It's a small thing though and doesn't detract from the characters of story. Overall, a great MM fantasy romance that I'd definitely recommend.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

Great addition to the series!

I loved Hell's Secret Omega by Sera Bishop. It's the second book in the Court of the Hollow King series. I loved Cyrus and Mezor's story. Cyrus has so many faces that he wears, depending on who he is around. He made the perfect spy, but behind all of his show of coldness and importance of being a lieutenant, he has a kind and loyal heart. Otherwise he wouldn't have been able to earn the respect of a Rok. I loved how clever he was in disguising his vergis scent. His character has a lot of growth. Mezor also has a lot of growth and he has an exit plan in place in the deal he has made with the Hollow King. As a primus, he doesn't expect to find a vergis to bond with and definitely not a little spitfire like the lieutenant that he is forced to work with. I loved the world seeds that Mezor is tasked with planting and I loved when Cyrus and Mezor were in the grotto together and were able to be primus and vergis.

I read this book using the Kindle unlimited app.

😭😭😭 After enjoying the first in series, I *so* wanted to love this book...!

Amd didn't.

I also didn't hate it. It was... interesting? Engaging. Imaginative. But also... it felt like there was way too much story packed into it. I came for the romance, and maybe that was my bad. I mean, it was there, but it didn't follow the satisfying arc my romance-loving heart wanted and was often overshadowed by all the intrigue and plotting going on. I also just didn’t buy into either character's reasons for . Not because the author didn't spell out those reasons, because she did. It was just that neither felt emotionally authentic.

Anyway, I was... disappointed, and ended the book feeling "meh." I may still pick up the third in series, but I'm definitely not super eager to at the moment. and have already poked around trying some different books since finishing this one, because even if I do go for book three, I need a palate cleanser that will give me some ROMANCE vibes.

The narrative of Cyrus and Mezor was exciting because it was full of suspense, danger, and plot twists that could alter the outcome. They didn't give off the best initial impression since they lied about how they really felt and because their objective seemed to follow them around like a shadow. They needed to mature, learn who they were, develop trust in one another and in themselves, improve their communication skills, and figure out how to balance their priorities. Along with the ever-increasing demand for safety, which remains elusive as long as people's true motives remain disguised, they had to overcome obstacles like treachery, plotting, and animosity. The increasing number of plot twists and turns made for an exciting and riveting read. The story was entertaining, and I can't wait to find out what happens next.I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.

So I read book 1 and now this one and I have a theory that I want to put out there.

Okay, so remember the vergis angel from book one that helped the mc? The one that was part of the angel council (or something) and had a human mate at some point who died? So, what if that dead guy is the current demon king who happened to be killed by angels and/or has been told his vergis died and that's why the king wants to break down the walls of the angel city/realm and take revenge? Don't tell me that wouldn't be a great story!

Tbh my memory from the first book is kind of vague even though I read it a few weeks ago, so I am not sure if this theory even makes any sense at all. Perhaps it is just my wishful thinking but I hope book 4 is something like that. This installment is I think better than book 1 so I expect a lot from the fourth one if there ever will be a book 4. I couldn' yet find anything about it, but I hope my suspicions will be proven true.

Cyrus is a demon with many secrets. He is a spy after all, but his biggest secret is that he is an omega. He is forced to use something to block his scent for his own protection. When a mission for the king has him working with Mezor, his heat comes and Mezor offers to help. Mezor tries to say that he is just Cyrus’s heat alpha, but he knows there is something more happening. When the rebellion in the Court goes from bad to worse, Mezor will do whatever he can to ensure Cyrus is safe.

These two were beautiful together. Neither one thought they could have a special someone in their life, but sometimes things work out differently. The plot served to drive the romance and kept you turning the pages to see what would happen next. There were more than a few twists and turns. This is an amazing, unique series and I know I am not alone is saying I cannot wait for the next one.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. This review is my own personal opinion.

Dark world building

This series is getting even darker as different people’s plans come to fruition or fall apart and Cyrus and Mezor are right in the middle of it all. They come together as alpha and omega in hell after the worlds have collapsed and are so affected by what other characters are doing that it’s such a hard road for them. Again the world building by Sera Bishop is marvelous and really drives the story and I especially enjoyed the idea of Mezor planting “world eggs” to help heal the land. The politics is still very much alive and the ending of all of this has not been written so I definitely look forward to seeing where she takes these books. If I had any criticism at all it would be that I would have liked a bit more humor to lighten the darkness, but with what is happening in the story there isn’t a lot of light. Hopefully this series will bring this world a bit more out of the darkness.

Nesting— nesting!!!
🌟🌟🌟🌟 — ARC Review.
🌶️🌶️🌶️

Can we talk super quick about nesting?!? How freaking cute! I melted for Mezor right then and there. Even though he already had my heart.

Anywho— I love that Cyrus is a confident, strong omega. But also very hurt and hides behind his bravery. I love that he is isn’t this meek omega that finds himself in Hell- rather he is there for a reason and knows who he is. That is so refreshing to read from an omega story.

Mezor is an Alpha assigned to meet with Cyrus but little does he know that he is working with an Omega until he triggers Cyrus heat 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

Not overly angsty but you do get some. This book is so well balanced and has a really great world description.

I still think you should go back and read the first but it’s not a huge deal if you don’t.

Super cool start to a series! Love

Sera Bishop delivers another fantastic addition to the Court of the Hollow King series! The world-building is rich, captivating, and feels alive, especially with the dynamic tension between the characters. The chemistry between Cyrus, the bold and secretive omega, and the alpha narrator is electric. Their bond feels both passionate and vulnerable, and the way their relationship evolves keeps you hooked. I loved how the author explored complex themes of trust, identity, and power. Cyrus’s struggle with his secret, and the alpha’s protective yet fiery nature, make for a perfect balance. The romance scenes are intense but emotional, adding real depth to the characters. If you’re a fan of well-developed fantasy worlds and sizzling alpha-omega dynamics, this book is a must-read!.

Cyrus and Mezor story was thrilling with constant danger, adrenaline, and developments that will change the course of action.
Their first impressions weren’t the greatest as they weren’t truthful about their feelings and themselves, and their mission seemed to haunt and drag them down.
They had to grow, discover themselves, and gain trust in the other and themselves, learn to communicate and to balance their priorities.
Betrayal, scheming, and hostility are a few of the challenges they had to pass, along with the growing need of security that keeps eluding them as hidden intentions of the ones around them keep surfacing.
It was an intense read that keeps you on edge as the twists and turns amounts.
I really enjoyed the story and I’m looking forward to see what happens next.

I loved this book. I do feel like I missed something by not reading book 1 first - would highly recommend. But the author gives the reader enough that reading the first book in the series isn’t absolutely necessary. This is an alpha/omega story but uses alternate terminology. And it comes with many of the associated tropes, including nesting. I smiled while reading the description of Mezor building a nest for Cyrus and how much Cyrus loves his new nest. These two are adorable together. And then there’s a great story that moves them along. It has the feel of an epic fantasy. Book two leaves some questions unanswered. I’m looking forward to going back and reading book 1 and then book 3.

“Vergis are more precious than gold. Any primus would burn the world down for a vergis in heat.”

I really loved this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. I liked the secret omega trope and couldn't wait until Mezor would discover it. I loved both Cyrus and Mezor. I liked the dynamic between the two of them. Cyrus' condition was rare and he longed to have the bigger, stronger body of the other demons so he couldn't be bullied and seen as lesser. Mezor was drawn to him, instincts to protect, though he doesn't know why. When Cyrus' heat finally came and Mezor recognized what he really was... I was all in! I loved his reaction and how he took care of Cyrus and let him be in control rather than just doing what he himself would want. Their chemistry was fire! 5 stars.

To preface I have read (and enjoyed!) some of the other books in the Court of the Hollow King series and this one was also enjoyable. I liked the lore and the fantasy setting a lot it was unique and the relationship between the Hollow King and the MCs had me guessing right until the big reveal. One thing I struggled with was the density of each chapter, they were written in 3rd Person which allowed a really deep understanding of the setting but made for difficult reading at points. Overall this was a solid fantasy with romance elements. the lore and setting were detailed and intricate and the new type of Alpha/ Omega lore was a fresh change.

I really enjoyed Mezor and Cyrus's romance. It is born so purely despite all the betrayal and hurt all around them. Cyrus was a sweet and wounded omega who needed and wanted someone to love him but he had to remain a secret. Mezor was the perfect protective man to cherish him. I loved the size difference and intimate times with some horns on the side. This was a heartwarming yet very exciting read. I pretty much knew from the cover that a size difference with a gentle omega was going to do it for me!

This series is so cool and vastly underrated! The worldbuilding is top notch and there are just layers upon layers of story being built. Each book has just the best MCs and I absolutely love them; Bishop says she's a fan of overprotective alphas and atypical omegas and boy, does she write them well! When I read these this one was listed as book 3 and Angel's Enemy was listed as book 2 so that's the order I read them in, but enjoyment was still off the charts no matter the order. Very high steam too, making this a true "romantasy" tale. I'm so glad there are more to come and can't wait to see what is next!

Absolutely loved the first book and Hell's Secret Omega is a great addition. In this book we follow Mezor who is an alpha demon and Cyrus who is Aldi a demon but hiding the fact he is an omega! Absolutely loved the characters and the storyline was exceptionally well written with a brilliant plot that had some really intense moments and plenty of danger. The relationship development was perfectly paced and some emotional ups and downs but plenty of heat! I am so looking forward to the next book!

Cyrus is on a mission and he believes he can hide the fact that he's an omega by chemical means long enough to accomplish it. Unfortunately, working with Mezor triggers a heat and the resulting complications from that and the genuine feelings they form for each other puts the mission and both of them in danger. There are high stakes here and the author maintains wonderful suspense about both their relationship and their survival. Just like in the other books in this series this one has great characters and more great world building.

Love this series

I love the world building of this omegaverse story. Cyrus wants to be a normal sized demon like everyone else in the court. But he is small and therefore he is at risk from the others. He wants to be safe. I felt the fear and danger on every page. Mezor is the Hunter, everyone fears him but Cyrus. Cyrus and Mezor both work together for their own purposes but wind up falling for each other.

So good. I love the characters. The story is entertaining and I love how it all came together.

Love a good demon book. This one is similar to omegaverse they just call it by different name. When you do anything to change the body you were fated with, only to find just how special that body is. Loving oneself and finding love of another in return. This was an interesting world one where demons are trying to survive after the great battle. I loved watching these two fall for each other and in doing so changing the out come of their lives.

This had classic omega verse love, knots and heats included

For future me:

The author does a good job of making all three stories *feel* the same -- gritty and painful but, at the core of it, hopeful. Mezor broke my heart in this one so prepare yourself for another emotional rollercoaster. Cyrus does well as this story's strong, get-stuff-done omega and I love that this theme's carried through the series. There were parts where I had that itchy, "hurry up, get to the action!" feeling but it was all worth it in the end.

Fantastic! Cyrus, is a spy for the King. A secret omega spy! His confident, independent strong façade, plus scent blockers hide his designation. Mezor, is an alpha assigned to work with Cyrus. Mezor's presence triggers Cyrus' heat. Their relationship becomes complicated, hot, risky and adventurous. Absolutely fun and delicious. The author has created an enticing series. Fantastic read. Nice cover art! Well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book was good, if sometimes confusing. I just didn’t care much about all the court politics stuff, so when that was a big part of the scene, I struggled to remember who General What’s-His-Name was.
Cyrus is a great character, and Mezor got better. My favorite character was probably Ekko, so loyal and protective of the one that never gave up on him. Cyrus in a nutshell, as he proves to his mate.
