Petra's Journey Continues
The news on television has become worse. Ukraine is still fighting for its existence against Russia and in the east of the world a massacre occurred against the Jewish people carried out by Hamas, a faction of the Palestinian people, which has developed into an uneven war with the Palestinian people almost being wiped off the face of the earth.
When Annemarie and Petra have their monthly conversations on the phone they both have come to one their lives have been absolutely interesting. From men walking on the moon, the discovery of a vaccine against polio, the wide use of penicillin, overcoming Covid, the transplantation of organs from one person to another, the television and internet available in every home, the common use of a telephone in everyone's hand and just today, July 21, 2024, in the United States the decision of a present president to not run for another term but to nominate his vice president, a biracial woman, to run for his office for the next term. Now it is up to the American people to act, by voting and deciding for a Democracy or not, the way it was meant to be over 200 years ago. Petra sure will be voting as she has all her American life.
