If you are a fan of dark erotica, then I would definitely recommend reading The Payment Series by Cassandra Carr. But please be aware that this book is most assuredly dark erotica. That means it features dubious consent and it may creep you out a bit, but it has that erotic element that does not fit into any of the normal categories.
Catrina Carter is on the verge of losing everything because of her out of control spending. A friend recommends going to Debt Management Associates (DMA) for help. With little choice but to ask for help, Catrina accepts DMA’s unorthodox solution. She agrees to serve a man for one year and in exchange he will pay off her debt. But service means being her new benefactor’s sexual slave. Catrina must service her benefactor, Jared, and anyone that he chooses at anytime, anywhere. In addition, Jared has free rein to punish Catrina as he sees fit, and he believes extreme negative reinforcement is the only way to ensure that Catrina learns her lesson.
The Payment Series is not a romance so there is no love between Catrina and Jared, but Ms. Carr was able to show a connection between the two that intrigued me. Jared seems to want to help Catrina, but his methods are so heinous that the reader is left shaking their head in wonder. I was constantly questioning his motivation as well as Catrina’s willingness to accept so much pain and humiliation. But the point was that I couldn’t put the book down as I waited to see if Catrina had a breaking point and where was this twisted relationship going to end.
The sexual situations left me squirming and decidedly uncomfortable, but that is the heart of dark erotica. Ms. Carr was able to create an engaging story that pulled me in from the beginning. I winced with each lash of the belt, and cringed every time Jared humiliated Catrina. But that meant I felt and I always appreciate a book that can make me feel even when those feelings aren’t necessarily happy.
I was also impressed by Ms. Carr’s ability to create captivating, well developed characters, especially Jared. Based upon Jared’s treatment of Catrina, I really should have hated him. Yet I didn’t because enough of his emotions came through in order for me to not see him as a monster. In fact, I found it harder to respect and admire Catrina because of her attitude and lack of remorse. But that same lack of guilt made Catrina fascinating as I tried to better understand her thought process.
If I haven’t scared you away then you really should add The Payment Series to your to be read list because long after you’re finished reading, you will still be thinking about this book and wondering how far you would be willing to go if put in the same situation as Catrina.

The Payment Series

This story was given to me in exchange for an honest review.
I have read quite a few stories by Cassandra and I have loved them all. They are mostly light, easy to read love stories with some funky sex thrown in. This was going to be a completed different type of story. I could see that just from the blurbs. I was excited to be part of this change in venue.
This story was broken down into three parts Prized, Possessed and Purgatory or as I found out could also be termed Before, During and After.
Catrina Carter has gotten herself into a little bit of a pickle, she has amassed a large debt and needs some help. She goes to Debt Management Associated and basically sells herself into sexual slavery for one year. Raoul at the agency is in charge of her "training." This definately starts of with a bang. There are OTK spankings with both his hand and belt, some flogging, corner time and then plenty of time spent working on her oral skills. Then she is auctioned off to become the property of Jared whom she must refer to as Sir.
Jared and Catrina share an interesting arrangement. He takes his responsibilities very serious and he means to teach her how to be financially responsible. The means to accomplish this are simple. Many, many, many spankings, sometimes both morning and night. Also more and more oral skills need to be learned and practised. He allows all of his friends to come over to participate in teaching her the lesson and makes her repeat her mantra "I am being punished because I can't control my spending." Anal sex is big also and again Catrina is expected to service both Jared and whom ever else he decrees at the time. Jared is a big believer in sharing and does so on a daily basis, it could be men at work, friends or once it was even the cooks in the restaurant they were eating in. Catrina's main purpose in live becomes as a human receptacle to whomever and where ever Jared wants it to be.
This is definately not your average love story. There was no vaginal intercourse in the entire story. There was lots and lots of anal sex with again, lots of different men, all intended to punish Catrina for her spending habits. Jared is definately a genius at his position and uses a variety of spanking implements to help him out. Floggers, canes, paddles and birch were a few, also making an appearance were plenty of clips, chili pepper and of course my favorite ginger.
Even without love being involved I found this a very gripping story. It was not overly dark, she never really got hurt, just a little bruised, welted and reddened. It focussed mostly on plenty of spankings and some humiliation. I mean really she never knew what was going to be expected of her, how many spankings she was going to endure, with what insturment or even at whose hands. When she allows herself to mouth off, the spankings just seem to get longer and longer.
I found myself enjoying it and eager to read more. I wanted to know if she would take her lessons to heart, and what would happen after the year was over? Does she continue on with her schooling or does she revert back to type? Do they really have any feeling for one another?
This story was completey out side the box and my normal comfort zone. I loved that Cassandra Carr made me think. She really makes the reader pay attention, scared that you might miss something in this story that has captured your interest and secured your thoughts. I was up late one night reading and then early the next morning to finish it. Well done. I would rate this a 5/5.

I was pretty excited to read the Payment Series, by Cassandra Carr. I've read many of her books, and she is undoubtedly one of my favorite authors. So to say I was excited to see what she would do with a darker subject matter would be putting it lightly!
So as you can see from the blurb, Catrina has gotten herself into a large amount of debt. Hey, I've been there, I felt like I could sympathize. No, I wasn't in debt nearly as much as her, but as anyone who is drowning in credit cards can attest, there gets a point where you feel like you'd do anything to be rid of the debt! Lucky for Catrina, she tells the right person and they recommend her to the DMA. And right from the very first interview at the DMA, Catrina knows that this isn't going to be something easy. What she signs on for is basically a year of... voluntary sexual slavery, I suppose is what it comes down to. Anything goes except sexual penetration. And I do mean anything. Anything.
And anything certainly happens. Catrina goes home with Jared. And Jared is NOT shy. If you are into spanking and blow jobs, you will LOVE this book. There is plenty of that to go around! Sometimes it's very sexy, sometimes it's clearly punishment, and sometimes it's just to prove a point. The point? Stop spending money you don't have!!
The tone of the book is... well, it's dark. And a bit cold. I mean, this is not a love story. There is no stroll into the sunset. It's a business transaction. Now do I believe that it was emotionless? No, I don't. I just don't view it as romantic emotions. I think the two main characters developed a bit of a symbiotic relationship. I do think that they began to actually care for each other, and each other's well being. But I think Cassandra Carr did a really good job keeping the emotions out of it for the most part. Catrina is in a program to break her bad habits, and that can't be done with love and soft touches sometimes.
Would I recommend this book? Absolutely - if you know what you are in for. I think that's important in dark erotica. There are a lot of sexual situations in this book. It's even broken down into numbers at one point. It was that point that I stopped reading for a moment and let the number sink in. Could I do what Catrina did? No way, I really don't think I'd survive that year. Did she learn a lesson? Well, hell - there's no way I'm telling you that! I really found the book very interesting from beginning to end! Check it out for yourself!

FIRST OFF THIS BOOK IS INTENDED FOR PEOPLE OVER THE AGE OF 18, and has scenes that may be offensive to some people . Now that has been said lets get on with the review
Let me introduce you to Catrina , a young woman that has some very severe money problems . She is on the edge of bankruptcy and the creditors are hounding her day and night. There is one way that she can delete her problems. But, it will cost her. Enter the DMA, A place where she can get help with her debt
Once she walks into the DMA, she realizes that this is going to cost her. They will help her but it will cost her a year of her life, a year of sexual slavery. Doing anything that the man who bought her want her to do. If he asks her to service his friends she must. She is at his beck and call. She doesn't know if she could do it. But, it is the only way to get out debt. So she signs . Her life begins, with daily punishments and he master Jared. Jared is so not shy when it comes to her and the punishments. The only thing that was off limits was penetration of the vagina.
If you like to read about blow jobs spankings and anal sex, there is tons of it going on in this book. There is quite a lot of punishment in this book. but also some tender moments that will get to you.
This is not a love story, Cassandra wrote a very dark ride. This isn't your typical love story . These characters are not your everyday day people. To Jared and Catrina this is a business transaction, nothing more, nothing less. There are no feelings what so ever. As Catrina keeps saying this is getting her out of debt. Cassandra did a great job writing the story this way , keeping the emotions out of their time together. Its only a job, breaking Catrina of her bad habits.
Now you are probably asking yourself why am I blogging this book. Well for one it isn't your typical romance story. Its dark and cold, which in my opinion is a refreshing. You can only read so many romance books until they all start to read the same. This book took me out of my reading comfort zone. Which I love. So if you like dark erotica and want to be taken out of your comfort zone. This book actually will make you think , what if I was in this situation, what would you do . So if you want to read a boxed set that is out of your comfort zone. check it out.
Cassandra Carr is an author that you should be on the look out for .

Loved this series. Recommend reading this series as a whole. The relationship between Catrina and Jared was truly unique from start to finish. Such a great and messed up book, you never know what's next. It was a great honor to read and review for this awesome author.

Catrina is so deep in debt that there are no options left for her. Until she hears about "Debt Management Assoociates." DMA offers her a solution to her problem. But it means she'll have to be her "benefactor's" sex slave for a full year. She'd have to do whatever, whenever, with whoever he wants.
The first book in the series, "Prized," takes us through Catrina's 2 week training period with the DMA. The second installment, "Possessed," follows Catrina through her year long sentence of service. And "Purgatory," the final book shows us how Catrina copes in the first 2 months after her service period has ended.
I knew going into this one that it would be polarizing for me. Either the author was going to do a really good job showing that the romance between Catrina and her benefactor, Jared, was much more than the purchase agreement and I was going to love it. Or the author would make me feel dirty for just reading it and I would hardly be able to finish it. I was surprised and shocked to realize that the author didn't follow either path I expected. Instead she provided me with a story that made me think and think and think some more. This story was raw, graphic, and gritty and made me cringe at multiple times.
My main complaint comes from the fact that this book was tagged as a "erotica, romance" on NetGalley. So I went into it expecting a dirty, raunchy love story. Yes. I read the summary provided and I knew that she would be with multiple men and I guessed that some/most of it would be non-consensual. But I was expecting the author to weave some sort of story where Jared falls for Catrina and vice versa. Instead I was left with this chronicle of Catrina's life during her time in service. We never got inside Jared's head and never got a chance to see him as anyone apart from the man who paid mongo bucks to take complete control of her for one year. On Catrina's part, it wasn't so much a love story as one of dependence.
It reminded me a lot of the Story of O by Pauline Réage. Both heroines had a span of forced submission, however the back stories are a bit different. I struggled to connect to each heroine. It was almost like the drastic-ness of their situations made it hard to see them as a person. And much like the Story of O, I feel that this story will stick with me for a long time, popping into my mind at odd times and making me think.
So how do I rate a book that I hated on one hand-because it absolutely lacked the romance I was looking for-but it one of those rare books that has dug its claws into my brain and feels like it will stick there forever? I'd have to say it failed as a romance, but gets full marks for making me think and see things a bit differently.
I'm going to be looking into more by Cassandra Carr, because I would love it if she was able to write a romance that made me think as much as this one did. If you're looking for a romanctic read this one is definitely not for you. If you're looking for a thought provoking read, and you are okay with explicit anal and oral sex, you might want to give this one a try.

Catrina has a problem. She is currently over $150,00 in debt. Having no family or friends to turn to, Catrina turns to DMA to help her out. DMA is a company that will take care of your debt, and in return, Catrina will be owned for a year to her benefactor, his to do with as he wants. Raoul is her trainer at DMA, and there she learns how to give BJs, and how to take a spanking with more than just a hand.
Jared is the benefactor who buys Catrina out of her debt and in return has Catrina for a solid year, to do with her as he wishes, including letting friends and strangers use her too.
As punishment for spending more than she earned, Catrina is subjected to daily spankings, anal sex, BJs and any other punishment Jared sees fit (all directed toward Catrina's behind). Along with those punishments, Catrina is forced to take online finance courses to help her understand why spending more than you have will land you into trouble, and how to prevent it in the future.
After her year of indentured servitude is up, Catrina is sent back out into the world, but she still has monthly appointments at DMA, where she has to tell Raoul everything that has gone on in the month, unaware that Raoul has been tracking her at her new job and knows exactly how poorly she is doing. When she omits a few things, Raoul spanks her.
When Catrina's finances start diminishing due to her spending again, Jared once again steps in and offers Catrina a proposal- to move back in with him for more training, and he will once again pull her out of the debt hole she is slowly sinking back into.
Catrina agrees, but after a few months, with no end in sight, Catrina runs away. Still needing help, but at a loss as to what to do or where to turn.
First off, while this was a lot darker than anything I have ever read, I did enjoy it. Catrina is not the easiest character to love, but I did feel sorry for her. Yes, as she is often forced to say that she did this to herself, no one deserves the abuse she endured, and it was indeed abuse. What I didn't like was that at the end of the book, I felt that I barely knew any of the characters. There was barely any background on Catrina- like how she even got into the mess that set off this whole story to begin with. The lack of parent involvement was explained, but Catrina kept mentioning family, and that made me wonder if she had more family (a sister was briefly mentioned) and was too embarrassed to go to them, or if her parents were her only family. As for friends, she claimed she had them, but where were they? The author briefly touched on why Catrina felt the need for retail therapy so often, to the point of near bankruptcy, but apart from the few times it was mentioned, it was almost ignored.
As for Jared, I'm lucky I remembered his name. I know very little about him, and while I get that in a sense he was Catrina's Dom, he was almost like a minor character, except that he wasn't.
Yes, there were issues that bothered me, but overall, this was a book I couldn't put down, and that says it all.
Jared is the benefactor who buys Catrina out of her debt and in return has Catrina for a solid year, to do with her as he wishes, including letting friends and strangers use her too.
As punishment for spending more than she earned, Catrina is subjected to daily spankings, anal sex, BJs and any other punishment Jared sees fit (all directed toward Catrina's behind). Along with those punishments, Catrina is forced to take online finance courses to help her understand why spending more than you have will land you into trouble, and how to prevent it in the future.
After her year of indentured servitude is up, Catrina is sent back out into the world, but she still has monthly appointments at DMA, where she has to tell Raoul everything that has gone on in the month, unaware that Raoul has been tracking her at her new job and knows exactly how poorly she is doing. When she omits a few things, Raoul spanks her.
When Catrina's finances start diminishing due to her spending again, Jared once again steps in and offers Catrina a proposal- to move back in with him for more training, and he will once again pull her out of the debt hole she is slowly sinking back into.
Catrina agrees, but after a few months, with no end in sight, Catrina runs away. Still needing help, but at a loss as to what to do or where to turn.
First off, while this was a lot darker than anything I have ever read, I did enjoy it. Catrina is not the easiest character to love, but I did feel sorry for her. Yes, as she is often forced to say that she did this to herself, no one deserves the abuse she endured, and it was indeed abuse. What I didn't like was that at the end of the book, I felt that I barely knew any of the characters. Oh, I so wanted to like this set more than I actually did. Being a big fan of both Cassandra Carr and dark erotica, I really wanted to be able to get into this series. But when it was done, all I could think was “Wow…that was a whole lot of oral and anal sex.”
Unable to control her spending and close to two hundred thousand dollars in debt, Catrina Carter finds herself with no other choice than to engage the services of “Debt Management Associates”, a firm with a unique approach to helping with finances and curbing spending. With the intention of creating a negative connotation associated with the idea of spending money, Catrina and her debt are “purchased” at auction by Jared, her benefactor for the next year. In exchange for paying off her debts and teaching her basic money management, Catrina essentially enters into indentured servitude to Jared, to be used for his needs and punishments.
While I could suspend reality and just accept this premise to enjoy the story, there were several things in the books that bothered me. First, I never warmed up to Catrina. She seemed to fall fully within the “too stupid to live” heroine category and I would have preferred someone with a little more backbone than simply taking the humiliation lying down (so to speak). Second, the humiliation itself was the focus of the story. While I am a fan of dark erotica, the stories seemed to focus more on the utter humiliation being heaped on Catrina rather than anything that was actually erotic. Finally, I found it somewhat repetitive. The scenes all consisted of Catrina being continuously spanked, embarrassed and violated, not only by Jared but anyone else he chose, while constantly being reminded that she did this to herself by getting herself so far into debt. And being a bit of a germophobe, there were some things I just couldn’t get past in the “oh so unsanitary” department…
As far as the writing went, I find Cassandra Carr to be an engaging and thoroughly enjoyable author, her books to be extremely readable, and this was no exception. I just didn’t find a lot to be sexy or erotic about this dark story. Perhaps if there was a fourth installment that delved into a future between Jared and Catrina. But as it stood, I prefer a little more of an attraction between the parties to balance out the darkness. Otherwise, it just comes off as abuse.

Catrina has amassed $150,000 of debt and is swiftly going under. Her friend tells her about Debt Management Associates, DMA, where she will be able to work off her debts. The 'programme' involves 2 weeks of training with Raoul and then she is auctioned off to the highest bidder. As her debts are so high, the benefactor, Jared, has her in his service for a whole year. Through severe punishment, anal sex and oral sex and humiliation the aim is for her to learn the error of her ways and build negative associations with spending.
Jared can and does, have sex with her whenever and wherever he pleases, he doles out brutal punishments and he shares her with friends, colleagues and strangers, taking her to a biker bar on several occasions.
This book is dark, very dark and there is no romance so be warned.
I have read many dark erotica books featuring torture, kidnap, non consensual sex and rape but this one gave me nightmares when I finished it last night. She signed a contract and knew what may happen to her but at times it still felt like rape or non consensual, especially when being shared with strangers for sex and punishment. What added a level of creepy was that the men claimed to be doing this all for her own good, implying the woman was lucky to be getting such help and Jared even says he doesn't enjoy punishing the way he does despite what she thinks.
Despite a year of hell, Catrina does not learn which was mind boggling to me. As she has follow ups for a year with Raoul he learns about her failure and continues to meet out punishment beatings and sex. Jared rides up on his white horse claiming to save Catrina again, that she needs longer with him and his help but his help means more of what she's had the past year, if not worse.
The book ends with him admitting he cares for her which is why he is helping her but then that's it. The end seems a bit sudden, leaving us to guess what the future holds for Catrina, but I doubt the future was going to be fun even if he proclaimed to care.
Hopefully now I've written my review, I've purged my mind of the images this book very clearly described and I'll be able to sleep tonight.

I've read quite a few of Cassandra's books and this by far was her darkest. It was intriguing, erotic, and really got me thinking, what would I do in that situation? And I have to answer that with a resounding....I have no freaking idea!
Catrina really gets herself in to some trouble financially and seeing DMA as her only solution, she agreed. I got to give the girl credit, I probably would have bailed. Well, maybe.
This is by no means a conventional love story. Catrina is paying a debt, one that Jared repeatedly reminds her of. I thought he was quite the jerk at first but after a while, I understood why he was doing what he was doing. Teaching someone responsibility is a big thing, and Catrina has a BIG problem. She's a bit sassy with him at times and it doesn't go over well with him. She is there to learn, he is there to teach her.
Over time the two develop a relationship that is anything but conventional but you start to see a bit of the man that Jared is. He truly wants the best for her and wants her to see the error of her ways. If you are looking for a conventional love story, this is not it. It's dark, it's erotic and there are sexual situations that will make you squirm in your seat. There is an attachment between Catrina and Jared, but I wouldn't necessarily call it love. It's a mutual respect with a bit more, kind of hard to explain without giving things away. I'm not going to tell you if Catrina learned from her year under Jared's teachings, that would be much too easy. I can say though, I had a different view of Jared at the end than I did in the beginning.
Highly recommend these books. I like twisted and this is definitely twisted! Now go buy this before I send all of you to DMA and make Raoul give you training for not listening to an awesome recommendation.

I’ve read many books from Cassandra Carr and just couldn’t wait to read The Payment Series, as it is a new genre for her. She did not let me down, dark erotica has become a favorite for me and she did a wonderful job in her writing this one. Some of the subject matter is strong, it engages me as well as makes me cringe.
The story revolves around Catrina Carter who has made some bad choices in her spending, just when she realizes how deep in debt she is, it’s too late. Creditors are at her back and she is about to be evicted. She goes to the DMA (Debt Management Associates) where she agrees to serve Jared for one year and in return he will pay off her debts. By agreeing to that Jared has the right to punish her or have someone else do it as well. The punishments are a way of making sure she learns how to curve her spending. And boy does she receive spankings and she finds them extremely humiliating. Jared also makes her take an accounting class, again to make her learn about finances.
She learns to live with the humiliation for the next twelve months. As the story progresses, you can see there is no romance between them. I certainly felt for her and her predicament and the part Jared played in her life as he truly wanted to help her not get to this point ever again. I highly recommend this dark erotica story, even though there were no lovey dovey scenes, I did feel that they both cared for each other. I hope Catrina learned her lesson, you’ll have to read it to find out!

I really, really wanted to like this series. I am a big fan of dark erotica and when given the chance to read and review this I jumped at it. Sadly, it fell short for me. The writing was good and it had so much potential. I just couldn't get past the fact that the couple never shows a personal connection. Well, the last few pages I felt it, but then it was too late.
Catrina gets herself into all kinds of financial trouble and sees only one way out. This way just happens to be by slaving herself for the balance of her debt. Debt management associates will auction her off to a benefactor in exchange for the total payment of her debt. The amount of time she remains in the benefactors control depends on the amount of debt. A bit degrading? Yes, but this still could have been turned around. However, it never got past the degrading. Catrina waffled between self loathing, bitterness, and attitude. Even when she served the terms of her agreement she didn't learn her lesson.
Jared did all that was expected of him according to the rules from DMA, but I felt that he could've done more, been more. Even when he was no longer bound by contract he didn't act on a relationship that he may have wanted. Or maybe he didn't. Maybe he truly was a man that could only enjoy himself by withholding orgasms, degrading a woman, and treating her like a spoiled child (she acted like a spoiled child, but still).
I would love to have read this story with more emotion, connection, and a happily ever after.

This is the first dark erotic story written by Cassandra Carr and I think she did a good job depicting the unimaginable situation Catrina has gotten herself into with her debt and what she must endure for the next year. I couldn't help but feel sorry for her as she was "trained" to service her benefactor and anyone else he chooses. Her "training" included lots of oral and anal sex, punishment and spankings, which she clearly hated.
Catrina's situation continued in this same manner as she entered into her one year contract with her benefactor, Jared. Jared started out being cold, methodical and somewhat unfeeling though he never strayed from his agenda which was to teach Catrina on being more responsible with her finances. In the beginning, I wished the author wrote the sex scenes in more detail when Jared brought his friends home for her to service them but that was remedied in the later chapters. I believe these scenes were well written but somewhat repetitive. I was hoping at some point, Catrina would have learned to enjoy or find some pleasure.
There were rare moments when Jared showed he cared about her but these were few and far in between. I enjoyed those scenes and wished there were more of them in this series. I know that this is a dark story and not a love story but still wished there was more of an emotional connection. I felt towards the end, they were reaching that point and a shift in their relationship might be forthcoming. Overall, I did enjoy this story and the sex scenes were hot. The author did a good job for her first time in this genre.

This read is definitely one that might be too much for some, it is intense and pushes the boundaries that is characteristic of the dark erotic genre. I am quite familiar with dark erotica and it has rarely been too much, but this was one was borderline for me. Though it is a fantastic read that is wonderfully written, the way Catrina was used/shared was almost too much for me to overcome and deal with. Which I suppose is testament to the writing powers of Cassandra Carr, getting me so attached to the female lead.
I could not stop reading this set once I started, staying up past midnight to find out how it would all end. I do wish it had a HEA ending with Jared declaring his love for Catrina and them being a couple I must say, a fluffy ending to a dark erotica just makes it easier to digest for me personally. I received a copy of this boxed set via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review
I had no idea what to think when I started reading this set. Being themed "dark erotica" made me imagine having nightmares. In reality, this is an extremely well written box set! A woman so deeply in debt, that her last resort is being auctioned off to a benefactor, who will pay off your debt in exchange for a contracted amount of time being used as he sees fit, by him and anyone else he chooses. Her wealthy benefactor has her for a year and uses her excessively (blow jobs, anal sex & spanning/lashing). She is used by him, his friends, colleagues & many strangers. In the end, I do believe they need each other. The author's imagination is just mind blowing! I would definitely recommend to other fans of erotica. No hugs & kisses, HEA romance here!

If you're looking for a dark sexy BDSM book this is the collection for you. This isn't your typical romance, just the opposite you might say; Catrina spends most of her time loathing Jared throughout these books. Catrina has put herself into $150,000 in debt and Jared has agreed to pay off her debt but she must be his sex slave for one year and endure daily punishments. Catrina must service Jared and the many other men that he requests as part of this payment.
While during this series Catrina and Jared's relationship does shift a bit, do not expect a HEA. I was expecting a bit more at the ending, it felt almost like there needed to be another book to give some finality to the relationship. However, if you enjoy books that the girl spends 95% of the books naked, you won't go wrong with this series.

Catrina finds herself in financial trouble. Her friend recommends a company that can help her however there is a very uncomfortable catch. Jared wins Catrina in an auction that pays her debts however she going to serve Jared for the next year. When I say serve, I mean serve OUCH! It's vey difficult to feel sympathy for Catrina even after more of her past is revealed. She at times just got on my nerves. I'm not sure if a person could have taken the punishments she continually received. This series is not about sex and domination it's much more. The series touches upon a mental illness that is easily ignored or misunderstood. 4 Stars for being original and made me think.

I will admit to being a huge fangirl of all of Ms. Carr's books that I have read so far. But this one.....this one was the BEST by far!
Be advised, this book is very dark and may not be for everyone.
WOW, what a book! DMA, what a concept! Catrina & Jared, what a couple (ok I wouldn't exactly call them a couple)!
Although this is a very dark book and the characters are very unemotional almost cold with each other, you do catch glimses through out the story of "something more" between them. No definately NOT an HEA, but there is a spark of something.
If you are into dark, erotic, hard & heavy sexual situations with no HEA, you will like this series!

Before reading these books make sure you really want to read dark erotica. The books overall were really good but the third lagged a little at the beginning feeling a little repetitive. The BDSM sizzled and I liked the Alpha male, Jared, but I really disliked the ending. I like Carr's writing style and recommend this book for anyone who likes dark erotica.

Catrina Carter is in trouble, she is in serious debit and is about to lose everything. With no other options available to her she goes to the Debt Management Associates. DMA has a unique way of helping with financial issues. Catrina is sold to a benefactor for 1 year who will pay off her entire debt and during that time he belongs to him and must submit to his whims. I do admit the story may be a bit dark for some but I did find the storyline interesting and I enjoyed the series.

I absolutely loved this story. I actually found myself asking why I spend money foolishly and wishing to have my very own Jared be there to teach me why it is foolish. I very much enjoyed this dark read by Cassandra Carr. Her character development was great and her build up to the end result was awesome.

The Payment series by Cassandra Carr was a good series. Prized, Pssessedand Purgatory followed Catrina in trying to become debt free. Jared becomes Catrina's benefactor when he takes care of her debt. For the next year she needs to service him. I enjoyed reading this book.
