Helios Andreadis is the aloof and powerful president of Áf̱xi̱si, an ordinary college org during the day and an underground bike racing club at night. Áf̱xi̱si̱ means 'rise' in Greek, symbolizing the cornerstone in which all the club's rules were founded on. Every member of the club has his own story to tell, his own tragedy to overcome, and a self-made cage to break free from.
The younger son of a famous Greek politician from an adulterous affair, Helios had migrated to the United States in hopes of putting to rest his older brother's jealousy. Past betrayals had taught him to be hard and unfeeling, but his heartless ways would soon be put to the test when a shy, stubborn girl literally skidded into his life like some backup dancer auditioning for the King of Pop.
Her name was MJ Cartwright. She wanted to apply as the club's official photographer, but any job would really do since as it turned out, all she wanted was to be close to one of Áf̱xi̱si's daredevil drivers. That man was her secret crush and the more time Helios spent with MJ, the more he wanted to kill that man, whoever he may be.
Helios was determined not to let MJ's secret crush take her away, but neither was he ready to put a name to his feelings. To do so would make him vulnerable, and that he would never allow to happen, not even if it meant having to hurt MJ instead.
I really love Marian Tee. She is normally an auto buy author for me, but I must say I am sooooooo tired of the cliffhangers and serial books! Please authors could you just write a book and publish it as a book, not as a soap opera.
Oh My God! Can authors please finish writing a freaking book before publishing!!!! I was into this story, I loved this story, except it's another cliffhanger.
This was sexy and painful and I loved every word because I was fully engaged in this story. MJ is our resilient female protagonist and she is sweet and good in a world that has showed her how ugly it can be. She joins a college club because she wants to be close to her long time crush, even if she has to deal with her most horrible fears.
I had to clean tears from my eyes every now and then. It wasn't full on crying but that tells you how much it moved me.
I'm definitely going to read the others in this series, and I hope that they would be as good and real as this one.
I know most of us have read biker books, but I'm not being silly when I tell you that this one is different. Give it a try, you don't lose anything. It's short and if doesn't hold your attention move on.
Title: Swish (Heart Racer #3) Author: Marian Tee Publication Date: April 25, 2014 Published by: Jaded Speck Publishing Source: Bought
ARA'S NOTE:
A new couple that would take us on an exciting, frustrating, and heartbreaking journey. *sigh* I have to say, out of all Marian's heroines I think MJ have been dealt the hardest hand, but she's also strong and optimistic despite all her hardship in life. You go girl! Before I start my review, I feel the need to tell you guys that we are about to embark on a journey that is unlike any other. The entire story of MJ and Helios' love (Swish, Burn, and Click) is full of pain, sacrifice, and torture.
SYNOPSIS:
Helios Andreadis is the aloof and powerful president of Áf_xi_si, an ordinary college org during the day and an underground bike racing club at night. Áf_xi_si_ means 'rise' in Greek, symbolizing the cornerstone in which all the club's rules were founded on.
She wanted to apply as the club's official photographer, but any job would really do since as it turned out, all she wanted was to be close to one of Áf_xi_si's daredevil drivers.
CHARACTER BACKGROUND:
MJ Cartwright is a strong, passionate, and optimistic woman. Her childhood was one full of sadness, fear, and pain. But because of a chance encounter, her eagerness to live and be free was brought to life. Her one goal now is to watch over the man who gave her reason to fight.
Helios Andreadis left his life in Greek a long time ago. Afxisi is his family now and he wouldn't have it any other way. That is until this curious woman who couldn't look at him long enough ended up kneeling before him. He was never the same since then.
TO LOVE:
I pretty much loved everything about this book. The chemistry between MJ and Helios was simply electric, and their intense scenes will leave you panting...or squeeling like a pig like I did. It's really one or the other.
In true Marian Tee fashion, one or both (in this case, both) main characters would have some sort of dark past that they're running from and trying to forget. MJ's former life was just...I don't even know how she survived that. It was all too much, too painful, and I cried for her. I grieved for the suffering she had to endure from such a young age, but I also celebrated the woman that she has become.
The motorcycle club is given more attention here in Swish, and it's nice to be part of such an enigmatic and lively organization. They live by their own rules and they protect each other like they're one.
The pain. As usual, I loved the heartache, heartbreak, and bone-break (yep) in the book. What can I say? Ms. Tee likes making readers cry, and I'm helpless against it. The things MJ had to keep in...urrghhh!! Thank goodness she had Yuri!
Yuri...*sighs dreamily* Is it weird that I loved Yuri more than I did Helios? I guess I'm just a sucker for men with the good guy image but has an animal inside that they just don't show in public. I really can't wait for his own story! Marian, do we have a date for this yet? *pleading eyes*
TO BLEH:
I think it would've been great if Yuri also felt something (even just an itsy-bitsy bit) for MJ. I just feel like it will be good for morale or something...oh! And there will be more tension. Is that weird?
SUMMARY:
5 stars for Swish, and to be completely honest, I give the entire MJ-Helios love story 5 stars. It's heartbreaking, sexy, exciting, nerve-racking, and it will only grow in intensity as the story progresses.
Loving someone from afar can be devastatingly deceptive. You build up worlds where it seems nothing can be better or more clandestine than this one person and the hope that they in all their beautiful perfection could somehow, someway, love something as broken as you. The problem with hero worship no mater how deserved is that no one can possibility live up to those expectations. Not even a golden god who stands seven inches and six feet from the ground up to his head, well when he doesn't have it shoved up his on ass that is. Witness to an act of bravery, mercy, and compassion as the helmeted biker executes a single handed rescue of a man otherwise fated to die, M. J. feels for the first time in her young, painfully abused life, that their is someone out there who could somehow save her too. With this hope she uses the knowledge that someone would save her if it went to far, that HE would protect her, even if it was just the specter of a long ago memory. He doesn't know the girl who barged into his world and captivated his friends from the moment she arrived at the club, out of breath, on her knees and unimpressively dressed, begging to be the clubs latest "volunteer". She was the hard opposite of the socialites and future real house wives of what ever billionaire she could get her opportunistic claws into first. They all had that energy about them, the air crackled with it. Women who would use any means necessary to get what they wanted. Well he had fallen for that act once long ago and once was all it took for him to see himself as they did. As something to twist and bend into what ever shape was most useful to the end goal. Power, wealth, fame, he had it, they wanted it. So who was this street urchin flitting around with her big doe eyes and sharp wit? Who does she think she is? She is too innocent for the likes of these bad boys and when he hears her talk of having a crush on one of the bikers in the house Helios hates how much it affects him, because it isn't him How could it be, this " crush" she talks of is kind, compassionate and all of the other things he doesn't live up to. He tries to hate her, to push her away, to strike out with a vicious tongue humiliating her in front of everyone with his words in public and bringing her to earth shattering orgasm after mind blowing orgasm in private. Who will break first? Will the social climbing sociopaths in the house break her or will she fight for the love of a man who has made it clear he doesn't want her. Will he finally see that she is nothing like the rest of them and the only person to love him for the real him in his entire life? Or has she been lashed out at too many times in the past to keep thinking a man like that will change. He has no faith in her she has too much in him, something's gonna give and it will change everything they think they know about themselves. Never meet your heroes, they say. They were right.
This book has feels, no question. The problem is that the hero is an immature arsehole. Which is fine, if you like extreme romance of the explicit, MC kind. I have mixed feelings about this trope and it always boils down to how responsibly the hero wields his power when he's at his angriest. I killed a fairy for his book and the last few chapters didn't convince me to read it in full. I also disliked the way women were pitted against each other for a hero who I can't believe actually has the skills to lead a bunch of people, much less be every woman's fantasy partner. It's unfortunate, because Marian Tee's writing can be incredibly heartbreaking and beautiful, and if the hero had had a little more depth to his character, I'd have been tempted to read on because I really wanted to see the heroine recover from her emotional scars.

Intense.
Ohh my God I just finished reading the series and I am soo in love with helion. I so wish he wasn't a fragment of your imagination that's how wonderful he is. I love all your books but for me helion is the best so far and I can't tell how much I appreciate your writing. And how it helps me get threw my days so really thank you for giving us readers something to look forward.
Not as bad as I though it would be, however this has been written in three parts and I'd just suggest you read the one full book. Not because I've read all three parts (yet) but because I hate cliffhangers and I didn't realise this was a part one of three.
Beautiful work! I want to read more... I cannot wait to read the rest of the books in the series.
A story about girl with secret to keep from her new friends and crush about a painful and horrible past, in a journey to get her crush to notice her. And along the way, she goes through many obstacles, and a peaceful love life had only been their for a little while, until everything went downhill for her. Because of jealousy, misunderstandings, and desperation, MJ's and Helios's lives and love had taken a turn for the worst.
A story about a girl named MJ who has an abusive father and has gone through hell most of her life after her mom died. Not seemed to save her from her life in hell, until one day she sees Helios saving a man who was been tortured by others.
MJ has gotten into college, the college that had the leader of an underground biker club called Afxisi going to it. Not only is her the leader of the club that contained many many HOT Greek Billionaires who liked to ride, but he himself is the man who gave MJ hope while her hellish days with her father.
MJ and Helios felt a pull towards each other, and MJ went to apply for a position in Afxisi. But during that day, it turned out that she was late and she had met Helios. MJ made a fool of herself in front of her savior and crush but also in front of two other members who are close to Helios: Yuki and Kellion. Yuki, Kellion, and the other members of the club knew exactly why MJ joined because her expressions were like an open book. she had joined because she wanted to be with her crush, who is indeed a member of Afxisi. This was the reason she gave while applying for a position. Helios sort of got irritated by her response but let her in he group anyways. Only Helios was the oblivious one to the identity of her secret crush.
Throughout the story, MJ goes through several painful experiences with love. And when she had finally caught the attention and love of Helios, everything went spoiling down. Both people were heads over heels for each other, but because of various misunderstandings their love became endangered. Only when MJ had almost lost her life and finally decided to give up hope for love with Helios, does Helios truly understand his feelings.
When Helios was set on making things right between them after clearing up their misunderstandings and discovered MJ's secret about her terrible past, it was too late.

I think this story is by far the most emotional book you have written.
I can't even imagine what MJ suffered under her father's alcoholic ways. But despite that she continued to try and make her life for the better. And on seeing Helios that one time, she believed that she too could be saved. For her, Helios was like the sun god (which by the way was aptly named with his long blond hair and same eye coloring). I'd say she has guts when she first confronted Helios and it was so endearing and funny how she managed to captivate him so quickly, I actually laughed at her antics and Helios (and his friends) reaction to her. I agree with Yuri when he told her to tell Helios the truth about her but of course that did not happen. Which is partly started the trouble between her and Helios' relationship. Although I understood Helios trust issues but that was over the top even for him. And when he finally realized his mistakes it was too late. This incident causes MJ to realize something else and well it's obvious how that ended.
Helios I liked you during the times you were mentioned on the other stories but I'm disliking the way you treat MJ although I knew you regretted about doing those but still... I can't let you off the hook. You better do some miracle work in my eyes, I mean MJ's eyes. Though I understood your reasons but I hope you would be better.
And regards to MJ's father, for a minute there I thought it was Astrid who was behind that problem since it obvious she wants MJ to be out Helios' life.
Although I was kind of anticipating it looks like we might have another couple as well. Although I want to read more about Kellion's and Yuri's HEA first before them if that ever happens.
I'm so glad I had the heads up that it was going to be a major cliffhanger. I really need to know those kind of warnings in advance. I actually thought it would end in the next book but apparently I was wrong. But I'm happy that the next book would come out in May and the next in June. I just really hope that the next book isn't that bad of a cliffhanger.
I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I was gifted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This book is included in the Wild Rides: 10 Blazing Hot Alpha Bad Boy Biker and MC Romance Box Set.
MJ Cartwright was a loner. Growing up with an alcoholic father who abused her verbally and physically was hell for her. She was sure that one day he was going to kill her with his bike stunts as he literally jumped his bike over her body on a regular basis. Not always with success. Her only consolation was a camera. It was her lifeline.
While out one night she hears someone crying. When she investigates she sees an act of heroism that changes her life. After that moment she held the memory close to her heart. He turned into her saving grace without even knowing it. His name was Helios Andreadis.
Helios Andreadis is the president of Afxisi, a bike club on the college campus. He is aloof and distant with even those closest to him. From the moment he meets this strange girl with violet eyes he finds himself strangely captivated by her. Helios is convinced that MJ is a danger to him. For one simple fact.... she makes him feel.
The chemistry between these two was interesting. MJ was so innocent half the time she was sure that Helios hated her. Helios on the other hand wants her with everything in him. The question is can he trust another woman again after the betrayals he's live through in his life.
when I first started reading the book I was like oh great this book is going to be boring and I'll put it aside... but surprisingly the book is a really good read. After the first couple chapter the story actually started getting really good.... You have MJ Cartwright who came from I guess you could say a broken home, seen her father(James Cartwright once a famous racer) used her a practice ramp to do his tricks while his drunk for a show for his bikers friends. The only way she survive all this stunts is for her wanting to live another day and what she had saw, that a biker(Helios Andreadis) saving a gentleman's life from a group people that wanting to kill him. Ever seen that day she wanted to be closed to Helios so she decided to volunteer for his biker club. There she has catch Helios attention and became his girl. Only Helios has a trust issue, that when he saw that MJ is hiding something from him, and the fact that one of his trusted friend Yuri is seen in the CCAM meeting with his MJ that he became jealous. From that he became cold with MJ again which ending MJ being challenge by fellow biker to prove that he wanted Helios. And for that MJ toke the challenge ending her in the hospital. And now I cant wait for the next book so I could find out what happens now that she finally giving up on earning Helios love.

I know that I say this with each and every book but this is the best of Marian Tee’s yet. We were introduced to the two leads in the first couple of instalments of the series, Heart Racer and Driven by Love.
MJ was a character that I liked in the previous 2 instalments. Her shyness and obvious goodness had you instantly liking her. In this we discover that she applied to become part of Áf̱xi̱si, the biker club, as she had a crush on one of the members, that member is no other than the leader, Helios. We also discover her horrific past and her loathing for motorbikes.
Helios has shut his heart off after being hurt in the past. When MJ skids into his life however he is instantly drawn to her. The only problem is that she has revealed that she has a huge crush on one of the members. Helios mistakenly believes it is one of his brothers and becomes jealous of their closeness.
They do get together in this book but Helios’ past and MJ not confiding in eachother causes an event at the end that leaves the book on a HUGE cliffhanger. So much so that you will be cursing Marian Tee for leaving you in such a state!!
Please note I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
omgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomg Another intense couple I gobbled up!
Just when you think this bad boy may be a little too dark to save, in comes innocently sweet MJ who fell for him one fateful night. Her labor to get to him was so heart-wrenching, tiring and mentally exhausting but in the deliciously good way that makes you crave the drama just to see something amazing come out of it.
I loved the book, the plot- I WISH THE HEART RACERS HEADQUARTERS WERE REAL SWEET JESUS. MJ was a very well-put together girl despite her past, and I thought Helios's bad boy character was just as perfect. It gave me a little more insight on how dark those kind of guys are, and their reasons for being just as scared as the innocent ones.
Had me crying a lot and laughing. I love MJ and how her mind just operates on a whole other radio station xD I highly recommend this book and author.
Great start to Helios and MJ's story. I wish it was longer, but understand there will be 2 more parts to their story. It did end on a cliffhanger, which I don't mind at all.
I love MJ, she is shy, smart and has been through hell and back because of her dad, James. The things that he made her do and that he did to her, wow. I'm surprised that her PTSD isn't worse than it is.
Helios is hot and the president of the club. He seems like a big jerk for the most part. He is very alpha and very jealous. He doesn't try to get an explanation before flying off the handle.
I'm glad that MJ stood up for herself at the very end, can't wait to see what happens next.
I thought it had so much potential... golly, a hot Greek billionaire biker president of underground racing club who attends college. Did I check most of your shelves? OK. after that is established the book goes numb (rhymes with dumb). I luckily got to read all three of the series at once and I'm grateful. I hate cliff hanger series. The girl should totally be broken in a psychiatric ward from all the abuse in her childhood alone. I liked how she was so sweet and appealed to Helios. And then I was just going to read it to get through it. The violence and unnecessary sex should of had me DNF. Seriously, reattaching a hymen. eww.
This book was split into 3 major chapters of their story.
Start = 4 stars. If I am reading a contemporary, the book needs to be believable. This one is not but I liked it. I was smiling most of the time. It's super cheesy with boys with God like influence and status and girls who are damsels in distress, clueless but charming.
Middle = 2.75 stars The story started to lose its shine. Sometimes it became redundant and I started skipping.
Final = 1 Star I found this part distasteful and DNF.
To love her or not to love her. One of the sweetest women to come across his path Helios should be jumping for joy MJ would give him the time of day. Instead of communication he lashes out hurts and almost kills her. Though her body will repair the same might not happen to her heart.
Good staRt to their story. Wish all three were combined I to one novel instead of a serial though.
These characters are well rounded, I wanted to strangle them at points and at other points I had tears in my eyes and wanted to give them a hug.
While I dislike that the next two pieces of this story are under a hundred pages, I cannot wait for the opportunity to read them. I truly wish, though, that this trio came as one complete book.
This book is a not darker than I normally read, I may keep up with the series. If you are a person who does not do with pain, and blood then do not read this book, if it something you can handle then read this book it is not a bad story but it will leave you with some thoughts.
