i was listening to this on audiobook when the most horrifying moment in my life occurred… my audiobook (which i listen to at 2.5 speed) disconnected from my headphones and connected to my mom’s car during a butt plug scene… i’m tremendously grateful that she can barely understand english. she literally thought someone called her.

Sometimes, I think… maybe I could have kept more of my humanity if I had shared it with you. Even if only for one night
This was one of the books, that. after reading the last page, you need a break, a heavy breath, and a moment to take it all in. This was one wild ride. An intense rollercoaster of emotions, but it left me with fulfillment and excitement. It was a painful story of love and hate, betrayal and loyalty.
Finn and Efi made so many mistakes. They hurt each other and themselves, both intentionally and in the process of sabotaging the world around them. They were damaged in extremely different ways and needed to utterly ruin each other to broken pieces to reach serenity. It wasn’t an easy story. It was angsty and intense but it was also captivating and incredibly written .
There were many exceptional moments between them. The lake, the painting, the forest, and the mess of the paints are the ones I still find myself lost in.
The main trope was friends-to-enemies-to-lovers in a corrupted mafia world. Both mcs danced fluently through the story, carrying their own weight. Efi was a mafia princess with many twists and a soft, shrouded dark side. She was amazing. She wasn’t the mafia fmc that bathes her hands red, but she had her own crooked side and a magnificent, liberating journey. Finn was deadly gorgeous. He was a sadist, a predator, and ultimately a beast. He was also sin in the flesh. Someone that you either sweat or squirm if you catch his attention. Finn MF Fox though, in his cruelty, was the most caring soul. Lilies, paints, and sunflowers.
There was action, scorching spice, banter, and angst. I loved it so much. The Fox family creates an unforgettable mafia world and by the books gods, the Fox men engrave themselves in your heart. Can’t wait for Roan.

Hate Me from Summer O’ Toole was such a fabulous surprise. A new to me author and I can easily say that I’ll be reading more from her. This is a mafia romance with dark elements and it was so good. Finn and Effie used to be childhood friends but a war between their families ruined it. Now they’re “enemies” but they still have a special connection to one another and awesome chemistry. Finn has definitely been influenced by his family and the environment and so has Effie. Both different and hard but when it comes to playing Finn shows no mercy. He’s ruthless but Effie is no pushover either even though she hides her flaws and pain well. Finn redeems himself in the ways he’s seeing and showing how much Effie means to him. The sex is HOT. Breath and rope play to name a few.
Hate Me can be read as a stand-alone but I’m definitely going to read book 1 - Cash’s story cause these Fox men are wild. What a ride!

It took me about 15% of the way through to get into this book. I enjoyed the tension between Finn and Effie and I thought the spice scenes were done really well. Now, this book is dark romance. There were lots of manipulation using sex and manipulation in general with both parties involved. To be clear, that isn’t why I’m taking stars off. I knew what I was getting into so if you don’t, make sure you read the tw’s / cw’s beforehand.
I do have a bone to pick with Finn. The first strike happened about halfway(?) through the book. You’re telling me, Finn decided to send those incriminating photos of Effie, to her then-fiancée, not knowing what was going to happen? Like be so fucking for real right now. It shouldn’t be surprising that a man with a less than questionable background would try to take it out on her and kill her. I really don’t know why I kept reading after that, no matter how many times he apologized I thought what he did was unforgivable.
Second of all, the “where is my wife?!” is only cute when you weren’t the cause of her leaving. Finn didn’t even try to hear her out and sent her away back to her abuser? I’m honestly so astounded 😂 Let me set up the scene for you. This man came back to their house only to see Effie being beaten to a pulp by her father—which by the way, he has known to be manipulative and abusive since they were teenagers. You’re telling me, a couple of words from her father and he was convinced? And by this point Finn and Effie have had the chance to solidify their relationship. So yeah Finn just sent Effie back after that whole ordeal, had the guts to go all “where is my wife!?” and it just gave me the ick.
Last thing I want to go over is him storming over with no plan and no backup? I was honestly laughing throughout the entire scene 😂 I don’t know what he was hoping to accomplish marching up to the enemy’s house with absolutely nothing. He was overpowered within 3 seconds which makes the “where is my wife!?” even more laughable.
I pretty much skimmed the last 20% of the book. I do genuinely enjoy dark romance but with men with a bit more common sense and balls to them. The only redeeming quality was the tension and spice—those parts I really enjoyed.

Еффі виховувалася у сім‘ї де для батька грали головну роль тільки спадкоємці тобто син, а вона мала тільки одну цінність вдало видати її заміж. Вона часто потрапляла батьку під гарячу руку, побої стали для неї нормою. Завжди через коментарі мами і тата вважала себе недостатньо хорошою. Її єдиною радістю і спокоєм було — малювання картин. І закоханість у одного красивого, доброго і милого хлопця. Але батько не залишив їй нічого - все знищив, і розпалив люту ненависть.
Фінн другий брат у сім‘ї Фокс, який також дуже змінився після смерті батька. Від його доброти не залишилося і сліду, він став безжалісним та холоднокровним. Те єдинне світло в його душі - його кохання до Еффі, було зруйноване. На його місті залишилась сліпа ненависть.
Пройшло десять років як сім‘я Лучано та Фокс, підписали угоду про перемир‘я. Десять років як дві людини, які були палко закоханні один в одного - вороги. Батько Еффі вирішує порушити цю угоду, і наймає найвідомішу групу жінок-грабіжників які можуть викрасти будь-що, для того щоб знайти сховище з всіма скарбами сім‘ї Фокс і пограбувати їх. Він вирішує, що саме його донька має допомогти у цій місії, так як не довіряє своїм підлеглим чоловікам, що вони будуть відволікатись на цих жінок. Також організовує договірний шлюб між Еффі та сином губернатора, щоб мати більше влади в своїх руках.
Фінн звісно одразу помітив потенційну небезпеку та колись таку кохану жінку…
Чи зможе він захисти свою сім‘ю, навіть коли його серце хоче віддати все тій, що зрадила..
Пишу відгук і досі не можу зрозуміти як оцінити цю книгу. Сюжет доволі цікавий, якщо порівнювати з першою книгою тут вже значно більше мафії, але все ж інколи не вистачало деталей. Головний герой жорстокий і власницький мафіозі, проте може зробити будь-що для коханої: навчитись танцювати чи купити все для малювання картини.
Головна героїня дуже травмована через свою сім‘ю і її вчинки, звикла завжди ховати своє справжнє «я», ніяк не може забути своє кохання, але і пробачити не може.
Мені не сподобалось, що головні герої не могли нормально поговорити про своє минуле, а просто намагалися зробити один одному боляче. Погрози, взаємна ненависть і шалена пристрасть - це все що між ними було десь половину книги, а то і більше. Замість однієї з сцен 18+ міг би бути й якийсь діалог, хоча скажу що сцени 🔞 дуже гарячі🔥
Кожен з них бореться з своїми травмами, боїться знову довіритись і відкритись, але кохання сильніше ж правда?

Пишу відгук і досі не можу зрозуміти як оцінити цю книгу. Сюжет доволі цікавий, якщо порівнювати з першою книгою тут вже значно більше мафії, але все ж інколи не вистачало деталей. Головний герой жорстокий і власницький мафіозі, проте може зробити будь-що для коханої: навчитись танцювати чи купити все для малювання картини.
Головна героїня дуже травмована через свою сім‘ю і її вчинки, звикла завжди ховати своє справжнє «я», ніяк не може забути своє кохання, але і пробачити не може.
Мені не сподобалось, що головні герої не могли нормально поговорити про своє минуле, а просто намагалися зробити один одному боляче. Погрози, взаємна ненависть і шалена пристрасть - це все що між ними було десь половину книги, а то і більше. Замість однієї з сцен 18+ міг би бути й якийсь діалог, хоча скажу що сцени 🔞 дуже гарячі🔥
Кожен з них бореться з своїми травмами, боїться знову довіритись і відкритись, але кохання сильніше ж правда?

I had the pleasure to receive an ARC of this book, and when I tell you it destroyed me… Then put me back together. I thought Cash was great, but Finneas… Made me want to be Mrs Fox. I found out I have a ‘my wife’ kink.
Finn and Effie go from childhood friends, to strangers, to enemies to lovers. Then an arranged marriage occurs. A roller coaster of emotions that’s what this was - And I loved the ride. Finn is not a good man, but I don’t think he’s a bad one either. Through the flashback chapters you’re able to know him (and the dynamic between the two) much better, and it wrecked me to read certain chapters (chapter 12 had me screaming, crying and throwing up). There’s no doubt Effie is the love of his life, and he’s hers. Chef’s kiss. Effie’s the daughter of a powerful mafia man, but she’s not attracted to the life. She’s fierce, and strong, and I loved her and how she rose and stood from her struggles. Finn might be ‘touch my wife and you’ll die’ but he’s also the first one to remind her constantly how powerful and capable she is as her own person.
This book is darker than Cash and Harlow’s, and explores other kinks that may not be for everyone. There’s dubcon / cnc, primal play, edging, rope play… So beware of that if you’re going to read it! As always, check TW before reading.
Story aside, I think Summer evolved in her writing with this one (comparing to Make Me). When I read I like my heart to hurt when needed from all the feelings that it causes me, and while I had that with the first book, she’s getting better at giving me as a reader precisely that (will definitely give me a heart attack sometime in the future no doubt😂)

while the first book in this series left me yearning for the full potential of this universe, this second story delivered everything i could've asked for and then some. albeit sticking to the same formula that undoubtedly works, the writing felt more mature, more sure, solidifying its genius. i hope the mafia elements continue to expand and be explored beyond the ones surrounding the fox family. the touch of having an all female crew being the seemingly coded villain for the first half of the story just speaks to how powerfully women are written by the author and that's something i will never stop praising; not only are her fmcs badasses, but she also introduces murderous women every new book – first with stella and now les arnaqueuses (i won't even talk about the fruity vibes because my gay ass was thriving).

YOU NEED TO READ THIS FUCKING BOOK I’M NOT PLAYING AROUND 🦊💚 ♾️⭐️’s a new all time favorite. This book was written for me, I can’t find a single flaw, not one. The spice?!! So next level, the CHARACTERS?!?! omg Finn & Effie 5ever. THE RELATIONSHIP DEVELOPMENT?!?’ A true rollercoaster of emotions here and I just loved every damn moment. How do I even begin to describe my love for this book? Let me start off with saying thank you to the author for giving me an ARC copy of this book. I absolutely adored the first book in this series but this book just holds a special place on my heart.

Effie & Finn are friends to lovers to enemies to lovers. Every step of the way is absolutely delicious. Finn has an absolutely filthy mouth and Effie knows how to give it right back. I love that he knows how to be gentle and how to be firm. Sometimes when reading this I was like how can this couple be fictional because they are meant to be together.
There is marriage of convenience in this book and it had me squealing/kicking my legs. “My wife!” “My husband!” Fuck me sideways. There’s praise, there’s degradation, there’s primal , ass play, breath play, impact play, dubcon, and the MMC is so fucking obsessed with the FMC I can’t get over it. Obviously this book isn’t out yet so there’s only so much I can say. But for now I’ll be screaming into my pillow because every touch her or die scene, or my wife scenes will be playing repeat in my head.

Hate me is book 2 in a continuing series, and is technically a standalone. You do not have to read Make Me (book 1) in order to understand book 2, but I will highly encourage you to read book 1 first.
Hate Me follows Finneas and Effie.
Finn is the second oldest of the Fox brothers and Effie is the unwanted daughter of the Lucianos. The Foxes and Lucianos are two very powerful families who have ran in the same circle for years. Hence Finn and Effie being childhood friends. However, somewhere in the 10 years, things have changed.
Effie is a beautiful soul who has been traumatized by her upbringing and is clinging to this perfect image. But because of her upbringing, she knows her place, which is to be the obedient daughter. In order to keep this image in tact, she recognizes her heart, and desperately tries to avoid Finn at all costs. But because their families have came together in an alliance, this might be harder than she orginially thought.

This is the second book in the Fox Family Crime Syndicate Series
After reading Make Me, I was really anticipating Hate Me.
I love dark Mafia/Mafia related romance novels. It's always been my go to.
These books are more in the dark romance category with Mafia related storylines but its really about the relationships these brothers form with the one woman they can't stay away from.
I've read som really really great Mafia books, and I have to say Summer being a new author really knocked these Fox Brothers out of the park! They are big alfaholes with brutal dominance and a cool exterior but really protective and they know what they want. Love it!
I really enjoyed this book! It's a friends-to-enemies-to-lovers + arrange marriage trope.
Finn is a dangerous man to cross, he loves to humiliate, hunt and win at all costs. You can't hide from him. When Effie (his teen-love) comes back into his life, they’re pretty much at each other’s throats. Old and new secrets stand between them but lust is a barriere they quickly break down.
“I gave you a head start, but you can’t hide. I will find you. Better start praying I’ll show mercy when I do.”
Effie is no angel and she doesn’t let people push her around except her for family. Being a Mobsters daughter growing up with brothers, she's had nothing but spiteful, toxic men around her her whole life. She always known her only worth in her family was for a marriage deal between her father and his associates. She's not even shocked, when she's told she is marrying the Senators son.
She has guts when faced with Finns manipulative ways, even when he holds a knife to her neck and plays him several times. Gotta love a strong Heroine that stands up for herself.
"He’s playing along now for the same reason he used pleasure to force information out of me. It’s psychological warfare. He doesn’t need to break me down himself, because he knows I’ll do it all on my own"
Finn, as toxic as he is to her, having cohered her into som explicit sexual favours, practicing his kinks and dirty mouth on her, decides to fuck with Effie and leaks some footage of them having sex, which he's holding over Effie's head, in order to manipulate her into telling him what he needs to know from her own family. But it has consequences only Finn can bail her out of, when her life is threatened from sevel sources. They band together and at last Finn has her right where he wants her... desires her, needs her.
"Another blade digs into my back, and this time, it’s one I put there myself. Because she’s right. My desire for her is holding a knife to my own throat."
Well written with a great storyline. I love spicy books that actually have a nice plot and twist.
I'd easily recommend this to anyone who loves a spicy dark love stort

Well this was a dark delight!!!
I read the first in this series last month and was HOOKED! So when Summer opened the ARC form for Hate me, I knew I had to sign up.
Fin and Effie’s story was dark, sad, and a whole heap of emotions. But it was also fire, incredible, and gripping.
Friends/forbidden to enemies to lovers?!? Oh my goodness it’s everything I didn’t know I needed.
This mafia series is incredibly refreshing and so addicting. HIGHLY recommend.

I don't know if I should kiss Summer O'Toole's feet, worship the ground she walks on, or sell my soul to her because DAMN.
Wow. This read was such an epic, crazy, wild ass ride.
Finneas Fox is a fucking menace.
I don't think I can write a review that would be able to grasp the love I have for Hate Me. It was crazy, it was hot, there was so much angst, there was hot "angry" sex, there was many twists and turns, but at the end of it we got a man who was insanely crazy for the woman he has loved forever.
This is my first read from Summer and I am so happy and blessed to have gotten it as an ARC and I think i've found my new high in terms of authors and books.
"Fuck, I want to tear you apart piece by piece, break you down bit by bit, so that I can rebuild you as mine and only mine."

Hate Me presents us with the story of Finn and Effie. Both being born to families who secretly hated each other, but overall should have been at peace. Both families harm each other, causing a drift between Finn and Effie. Effie can't help but feel that Finn hates her. But that's far from the truth.
As we dig deeper into this story, there's a lot, and I mean, a lot of tension between the two. Finn makes very questionable decisions and does some shady shit that had me thinking: "NO FUCKING WAY."
My emotions were all over the place with this book. I was laughing, I was giddying, I was fanning my face, I was shocked, I even cried a little.
Effie has obviously suffered a lot within the grasps of her family, being nothing more than a pawn in a much bigger game she never had control over. Until Finn comes back into her life.
The events that take place in this book were so hot, and Finn ultimately was the biggest sweat heart.
Betrayal, lies, angst, frustration, and love are just some of the things that you will find in this book. I am so happy that both Effie and Finn got their HEA because damn.
Please keep in mind that this book IS NOT FOR EVERYONE.
Please read Tw's before plunging into this book, and if you do decide to read it... I hope you fucking enjoy it as much as I did. I can't wait for the next one.

This was the book that jusy keept on giving. The first 40% I was like okay this is good, then 50-70% I was like wow okay this is really fucking good. I reallllyyy loved this book and I liked Effie as fmc but for me Fin stole the show. I loved how sweet he got towards the end and how he could be this scary mafia guy but also super vulnerable.
ALSO I completely thought the book was going one was then it completely switched and I was very pleasantly surprised.
I do wish we got more flashbacks to better set up the relationship.We get a few and some references but for me it kinda left a gray area.

Me gustó mucho más que el libro anterior. Hay más desarrollo de los sentimientos ya sean éstos buenos o malos.
Al comienzo parece imposible que Finn se reivindique después de todo lo qie hace, pero se arrastra lo suficiente para ser perdonado. Amé que ella realmente le echó en cara todo lo que hizo. Odio cuando son eximidos así sin más.
Como en toda esta saga la parte hot está presente todo el tiempo. Algunas escenas son puro fuego y otras son "wtf?"..., pero en fin.
Me hubiese gustado más desarrollo del personaje de Effie, hay pinceladas de lo que le pasó y lo que fue, pero no se profundiza mucho. Lástima.
Hay cosas del final que me sobraron.

and as i said the heroine here is dumb so she does it, like she will throw some attitude, fake anger and then when things get dirty she is pleading..........that was soooo much infuriating.
there was no such interaction which genuinely showed what they had between them was true or a fun banter as it supposed to be enemies to lovers .........big disappointment i tell you coz ..............they either talk dirty or do dirty.

DNF AT 30% MARK
Goodreads recommended this book to me, synopsis sounded so good i dived into the book without second thought.
poor me........
every interaction these characters had right from their first one after ten years .....every one of them sexual, then the hero records their first sexual scene and blackmails the heroine like you give me a bj or i would send it your father, you meet me here or i would send it to your father, you tell me about your plan to destroy me and i will delete the video.
and as i said the heroine here is dumb so she does it, like she will throw some attitude, fake anger and then when things get dirty she is pleading..........that was soooo much infuriating.
there was no such interaction which genuinely showed what they had between them was true or a fun banter as it supposed to be enemies to lovers .........big disappointment i tell you coz ..............they either talk dirty or do dirty.
30% into this book and there was no mafia plot, no connection, no chemistry or even i didn't knew things about characters
ALSO IT'S A COMMON SENSE NO MATTER HOW STRONG YOUR BOND WAS BUT WHEN YOU MEET SOMEONE AFTER 10 YEARS GET TO KNOW THEM, THEIR INTENTIONS,WHAT ARE THE CHANGES, WHAT IS STILL THE SAME, GET TO KNOW THIS PERSON AFTER 10 YEARS .............NOT JUMP INTO BED WITH THEM COZ THAT WILL MAKE YOU LOOK FOOL!!!
safe to say the plotline should have been executed much better for godsake it's categorised as romance not a pornobook!!

Friends to lovers to enemies to lovers.
Yeah.
As in first book, this is dirty, filthy, naughty in 𝔂𝓾𝓶𝓶𝓲𝓮𝓼𝓽 way.
And in this one, the dub-con is the kind of dub-con I want to read. No sugarcoating yet no reason to hate it.
Hell yeah.
Effie & Finn are great. I enjoyed their toxic relationship, the dynamic between them can be considered hard to handle but I liked it, I liked to be on the edge while reading and at the end of scenes it was relief that none of them were a fucking pure abuse.
“Fucking you is a gift, calling you mine is an honor.” I stroke her cheek as I lower her leg and whisper against her lips, “Now get on your knees.”

I didn't expected anything epic or so about their reunion but I would like to read how ten years past, like we know she especially avoided him but reading what they do while they were apart would be delicious.

I loved this! The connection was really there, though some stuff was super confusing and slightly jerky in the plot. Characters were amazing!
