SOMETHING HAS HAPPENED! Based on the popular online game Neopets comes a new and official full-color graphic novel. A rare form of magic has turned everyone in Neopia into toys, and it’s up to TDMBGPOP and his friends to restore it. This graphic novel is full of humor, heart, and plushie pandemonium.
Somebody has left their Blue Grundo Plushie here. What a poor unwanted little guy, maybe you should talk to him... no, he's just a toy, he won't answer you. Don't be silly!
No one knows where The Discarded Magical Blue Grundo Plushie of Prosperity (TDMBGPOP) came from. He was spotted one day sitting on a Faerieland cloud. At first, Neopets believed he was just forgotten and whoever left him there would return for him soon. But many moons passed, and no one came.
When Faerieland fell from the sky, TDMBGPOP toppled down with it. He descended until his stitches were snagged by a tree branch, and he took up post in a nearby tree.
These days, Neopians from all over visit TDMBGPOP in his tree. Rumor has it that if you talk to the poor guy, you’ll get a rare item or Neopoints. Perhaps it was good luck or . . . ?
No one knows.
Not even TDMBGPOP.
Until one day, when TDMBGPOP discovers that he can move. Not only that—he can talk and walk and cartwheel!
But there’s something amiss in Neopia. All of the Neopets have turned into toys—and even Queen Fyora is looking quite playful, if you know what we mean.
This beautifully illustrated original graphic novel tackles some of life’s hardest questions—like the meaning of family, “good” vs. “evil,” and what it means to be real. This graphic novel also includes a universal code for a new one-time-use item in the back, which can be redeemed on the Neopets website.
Backmatter in the back of the comic, written by disability activist and content creator Sabrina Hutchings, touches on the importance of equity for people (and Faeries!) with disabilities, like Seshatia the Library Faerie, who is an ambulatory wheelchair user.
"The satisfying ending, likable main characters, and fun banter make this an appealing adventure for nostalgic readers who grew up playing Neopets as well as those who are new to this world. Exciting and endearing from start to finish." - Kirkus Reviews for The Omelette Faerie
"I liked it and I’m a harsh critic." - Josh Elder (jawsch), the Grundo King for The Omelette Faerie
"This story was a tasty treat! Filled with suspense, humor, and Neopian lore, readers of all ages will love this heartfelt graphic novel about how the loss of a major resource can impact a society." - Brigitta Blair, artist and author of the upcoming graphic novel, Cramming, for The Omelette Faerie
"Fans will enjoy seeing so many of the Neopians in their world, as well as the references to other content." - School Library Journal for The Omelette Faerie
"For the first time in a while, I am truly optimistic on the future of Neopets in print.
This was adorable! So many fun references that, despite not having played for years and years, I still remember. I loved visiting the Discarded Magical Blue Grundo Plushie and I love his adventure with this two new friends (who I found sus from the start, haha). Fun art, and I love the last message.
Cute story! Code on the back now works as of 11/15/25. That's for a free item in the game! Fun way to enjoy gaming nostalgia and reading. The series is great for a Neopets escape/vacation. Plus it was nice to connect with the Grundo Plushie here. I was always sad for them and this made me much happier.
I loved Neopets when I was younger. I had hundreds of trading cards, dozens of plushies, and a stack of the magazines. While I haven’t played Neopets in many years and I no longer have my collection, I still have a soft spot in my heart for them (and I still occasionally replay the PS2 game, Neopets: The Darkest Faerie, because I love it so much).
I’m so excited to see that Neopets is still around and that books are coming out set in Neopia. This book made me so nostalgic for the time I spent on the website when I was little.
This graphic novel is cute. What happens when everyone in Neopia gets turned into a plushie, and those who were plushies become sentient? This story is about friendship, found family, helping others, and believing in yourself.
Definitely a good book for anyone who’s currently playing Neopets and wants to consume more lore in the world, or for those of us who long for a moment of nostalgia from our Neopian-filled childhoods. I will be picking up the first graphic novel as well as any subsequent books that come out because I will always love Neopets.
I received a digital copy from the publisher via Edelweiss.
This was cute. If you are a fan of Neopets & The Discarded Magical Blue Grundo Plushie of Prosperity you'd like this book. There is even a code to redeem at the end.
