A high-energy romp for fans of Fate: The Winx Saga Vol. 1 and the Netflix series!
The magical school of Alfea is all but destroyed, its fractured remnants defended by the brave fairies and specialists who remain--even in the wake of heartbreaking loss.
The roommates of the Winx Suite have been hit the hardest. Stella has fallen to the darkness and leads an army against her former friends. Aisha, Musa, Flora and Sky must come up with a plan to push back the shadows that threaten to overrun their world...Meanwhile, Bloom puts everything on the line to redeem herself to those she holds most dear.
I'm glad they decided to continue the story in this format, the concept it's really good and the artwork fits the story in such an amazing way. I do feel like this could've use more pages, the pace it's a little rushed and all the big problems were solved very easy. There's drama, sadness, friendship, mystery and love stories but they all happened in a blink of an eye.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher, I'll be here next year for the third volume!!
I loved the first volume of the graphic novel sequel, and was so looking forward to the release of "The Shadow War"! This second volume was so full of action, so much happened!
-It marks the first main fairy who transformed and got her wings after the end of the Netflix series. As a fan of "Fate: The Winx Saga" it makes me so happy that this sequel gave the chance for our beloved protagonists to continue their journey and we the fans are able to watch their development that we hoped for! -Also, a lot of resurrections of important characters happened! The writer even brought back a beloved fairy who was killed at the Netflix series finale! -Plus a lot more, including Bloom's sister first appearance, important info about Farah, protagonists joining the villain, the Dragon Flame being passed to a new possessor etc., etc.! I highly recommend this graphic novel series and I'm looking forward to volume 3 next year!
Omg so good!!!!! Blooms story really took off in this book. She came back and saved the day for everything. In the end something crazy happens so I was like wow. All the characters you love came back for more!! Olivia I hope there is another coming soon!!!!!
Ok I’m just low key annoyed Netflix symbol is on it cuz like bro canceled this amazing show. I can’t be the only one that doesn’t like the Netflix symbol on it lol
Volume 2 starts heavy with action. The writers are taking a lot of liberties with the story. I do not expect it to be word for word what happened in the animated series nor Netflix show, but the direction they are taking it is certainly a bit confusing. Especially Musa’s powers which I could not wrap my head around to understand so I decided to accept it and continue reading.
The actual story was short and important events happened, but I felt nothing occurred at the same time. Regarding the style and art, it was gorgeous and I really enjoyed it. I will continue to look forward to continuing this story.
Well this volume was at least better than the previous one, even though some problems were still not solved. Like, some things are very rushed and I don’t know if I mentioned it before but I didn’t enjoy on how some characters, specifically Riven and Silva were designed, they are basically unrecognizable. Either way, Bloom finally comes back and it’s at least really comprehensive! For a moment thought we would have a drama plot with her being mad at Sky but nop. And thank god! Sky is the true victim in here. Plus the other Bloom sister plot is just wtf and very rushed. And the thing that bugged me most was the newly acquired Musa time travel powers (I think they are new at least, don’t remember it from the series), that thing doesn’t make any sense like it seems to have the consequences in the future that the author simply desires so that she can solve the problems with a snap of her fingers. Like, everyone is dead? Stella got her mom blind? 🫰 Now everything is ok! And to make it better, characters that shouldn’t be here because of these changes (Aka Bloom) or have any memories of it, just kept those and some other characters don’t. Ah yes, that makes perfect sense. Just gotta assume that Musa is the most powerful fairy then, since she can basically shape reality as much as she wants… So yeah, really weak plot. But this book was more pleasant to read so 3.5 stars I give it. I’m going to keep reading this series just because I enjoy the characters so see you all in the third volume.

I loved the show, so when Netflix decided to cancel it I was devastated. Then I got hope when the Maverick publishing house announced Fate: the Winx saga graphic novel continuation.
This is the second book of this story and it gets even better than the first one was. While reading I could feel the same vibe that the show had and I couldn’t pi t it down before I reached last page.
There is a lot of original cartoon references and we meet old and new characters. Olivia introduces us to long lost sister and brings her own iteration of one of the original cartoon fans villains people love.
There is plenty of action, romance and hard decisions to be made, but in the end they turn out for good. Or do they? This time the cliffhanger at the end is sooo big it is a season finale worthy!
I hope we will not need to wait another year for book three, because I’m starved for more!!
Honestly, this was the worst book I’ve ever read. Bloom having two other sisters and not even having Daphne as part of the storyline is insane to me. I think her giving up the dragon flame is the worst part of the book and I don’t think that would’ve ever happened. All in all I think this book was horribly written. It was honestly a terrible take, and I know that everyone’s so happy at ribbon and music and that storyline was probably the best thing about this book but again we’re not seeing the original storyline. We’re not seeing how the original storyline could’ve been made into a comic. Were seeing a twisted more fucked up storyline that’s just honestly a -1000 out of 10 I could not recommend this Bookless like please don’t read this because it’s literally the worst book you’ll ever read and like worse than Shakespeare for those who hated Shakespeare in English class. SMH

Such an amazing sequel. It was very engaging, magical and wrapped up beautifully some storylines set in the previous book and set up new ones I can't wait to read about. There is a slight issue with the time turning magic, and its consequences, but I absolutely didn't mind considering how we got there... Absolute blast!
Volume 2 proceeds to jump the shark even more. Does this book makes sense? No! Did I still enjoy it? Yes. This is like one of those guilty pleasure books were you know it is bad, but still enjoy it. I am just wondering if their will be a book 3 based on the semi cliff hanger that was so disappointing. I am sorry, but Lord Darkar is now some dude in a top hat and googles. So unserious. Also it feels like whoever made this hated poor Stella. Also the reference to the power of 3, feels very Charmed.
I'm giving this an extra half star solely because it erased half of the previous volume's mess.
Btw both novels can be summed up like this: apparently, nobody can do anything anymore, except cry and take a trip to Realm of Darkness - which is easier to reach than Earth itself - to find themselves. Sounds fun, huh? Nothing better than spending some time among the dead and shadows to sort things out. Wasn't it supposed to be deserted btw? How did it become some sort of afterlife?
Who are these characters anyway? Why are they so OOC? Some of them even look different!
Why are Dowling and Beatrix suddenly Bloom's mom and sister?
Riven and Musa got together like - Poof! Magic!
And Stella is back to being in love with Sky now? *Massive eye roll*
Seriously, what am I reading?

The school of Alfea has been pretty much demolished. The fairies and specialists who are still standing are trying their hardest to defend what's left of their school and their lives. The Winx have been hit harder than the rest, however they need to stand strong for everyone around.
Stella has been thrust into her own internal darkness after an unfortunate run in with her shadow self. Bloom is still struggling with her own demons and has some big choices to make.
This volume ends with a big cliff hanger that will bring about big changes for all of Alfea and challenge the winx in what could be their biggest trial yet.
The artwork is fantastic from the individual character designs to the color palettes used, it really brings the story together. Im glad that they chose this specific style and format.
Parts of the story seemed rushed, I do wish we had a bit more pages to expand on the battles and the resolutions. This volume contained alot of dialog and where thats not a bad thing there was spots where it felt like you were missing parts of a conversation. Pacing was just a tad off.
Overall I enjoyed the read and can recommend this to younger readers ( middle grade ) and adults alike.
Thank you NetGalley and Mad Cave Studios | Maverick for the Digital ARC for review.
While I love the color and artwork, the story of this one is a LOT of dialogue and very little action. It's also way shorter than I was anticipating, so it feels like the story is a bit truncated. It's a quick read with lots of magic, and an interesting twist at the end.
Thank you to NetGalley and publisher for the opportunity to read and review.
I know this is just an adaptation of what Winx Club really is, but it kinda destroyed Bloom's character? And Stella's as well? I don't know, it was kinda similar with the first volume, but literally the final pages were so... disappointing. I don't mind the cliffhanger, it's not it. It's just how they changed the winx girls just so they could have a storyline.
