I discovered The Kingdom of Wrenly series a few years ago, and I'm glad to see that it's continuing. These books are for anyone who enjoys children's fantasy. This entry features Prince Lucas and his friend Clara being invited to a mermaid's ball, but they soon discover that not everyone from the depths of the ocean is happy to see land folk. Definitely a series worth checking out for anyone who enjoys magic, witches, ogres, mermaids, and a slew of mythical and fairy tale elements.

4.5 stars for this solid series my kindergartener and I love reading together. Clara and Lucas visit the mermaid kingdom in this readable illustrated early chapter book. The art is gorgeous, the world building is wonderful and the chapters are the perfect length. I wanted a bit more depth to the plot or maybe something unique to take away from the book. We borrowed it from the library.

The girl child loved it.
I'm over here wondering how pastries don't get soggy underwater. 🤷🏻♀️

The resolution was way too fast in this one. Kiddo was reading in the car and I felt like I blinked and missed what happened with the giant octopus thing.
