Very informative. A nice summary of the most prominent Celtic Deities, Creatures, and Heroes. Definitely a good starting point if you’re just dipping your toes into Celtic Mythology.

Promotes pseudohistory. The Celtic archipelago was not a “matriarchy,” as the book states as if it’s fact. Every piece of archaeological evidence shows that their society was structured no different than surrounding regions, which were largely patriarchal.

Crazy how all the “recent research” these so called authors talk about just so happens to take place in the modern Biden-Trump era presidencies, in which huge efforts in gaslighting are being made to promote a political agenda.

Isn’t it crazy how Joe Biden gets elected in 2020, and then immediately after all these scholars and amateur historians find out that, hey! Scientists and historians were wrong this whole time! Society was actually run by women! Europeans were actually black 1,700 years ago! There are 10,000+ gender identities! Let’s throw out everything we thought we knew!

I guess it’s really true that history is written by the victors -_-

For lovers of fantasy, history, and folklore (or all three, if you’re like me), Celtic Mythology and the other entries in the World Mythology and Folklore series belong on your shelf!

This was an interesting tale about Celtic Mythology and I highly recommend if you enjoy reading about Celtic Myths.

Beautiful collection includes modern research and understanding of these stories from the (often limited) knowledge of their history. Makes an effort to stick to the facts and differentiate between later interpretations and additions to the myths. Excellent beginner friendly source - however, the pronunciation guides can be limited, and don’t include many words and titles included in the texts. Could have been improved with a more detailed glossary. This is nitpicky, but I do wish there were more pictures as well, as their inclusion is spotty.
