Tony Fleecs's series "Feral" is gradually growing more gory, gruesome, and graphic. Don't be fooled: it still looks like a Disney film, but it's not for kids.
The gang may have survived the zombie cat-lady, but now they are lost in the woods amidst the rabid denizens out to eat them. This book was definitely the best so far. The plot twists in this one were crazyyyyy. The cats are really going through it omg 😭

This series just keeps getting meaner — and I mean that in the best way.
Feral Vol. 3 might be the most intense installment yet. The world feels smaller, harsher, and more desperate, and you can feel how exhausted and pushed to the brink these characters are. Elsie, Lord, and Patch aren’t just trying to survive anymore — they’re carrying emotional weight now, and it shows in every decision.
What continues to impress me is how this book balances brutality with heart. The horror elements are genuinely unsettling — the infection, the violence, the constant sense of danger — but the emotional core is what makes it land. These are cats, yes, but they feel fully realized. Their fear, loyalty, jealousy, and hope all come through clearly without ever feeling forced or overly sentimental.
The abandoned superstore setting adds a claustrophobic tension that works incredibly well. Every aisle feels like a potential ambush. Every shadow feels unsafe. The pacing is tight, and when things explode, they explode fast.
And the art continues to be a huge part of why this works. The expressions alone sell the emotional beats. One panel can make you anxious, the next can genuinely hurt. It’s cute in style but absolutely ruthless in execution — which makes the violence hit even harder.
This volume leaves things in a place that feels earned and painful. The stakes are real. No one feels safe. And I’m fully locked in for whatever comes next.

This third volume is my favorite of the series thus far! The cats narrowly escaped the cat hoarder's house, and are joined by a silent but nimble cat from the home they escaped and meet a resourceful male cat and his companion dog. They figure out a way to make it through a skylight into a Pet City store, but their safety is short-lived as the pet store is inhabited by strange cats who follow unspoken and cruel rules. The last pages reveal an awful truth about how these cats have survived, and the male cat is very suspicious. I look forward to finding out how our brave felines will escape the terror in the next volume.

Feels like the series is expanding in both good and bad ways, as the characters move around and encounter new threats, but the need to ramp up the stakes creates some ridiculously dark plotlines (issue 15, you know)
Plus, the movement from one "safe place" to another is really starting to have a The Walking Dead feel to it, where another pit stop like this would be completely formulaic. Something needs to shake up that formula.

I am really enjoying this series. Not sure how I feel about some of the specific events in this one...like the love triangle or Moosh being outside...but overall I am just INVESTED in these characters and the friendships and the stress of all these dangerous situations. Will definitely continue reading the series and look forward to the next volume.

The newest volume in the series and we are going to a new place + meet new characters. This was exciting!
First up a big thank you to my hubby for gifting me this for Christmas! This was a book that was HIGH on my list and I am excited I was able to read it as one of my first books of 2026!
💖 I love how we just start right from where we left! You just get thrown right in the thick of it and while it may not work if you have some more time between the books, for now it worked!
💖 I was constantly going OH FUCK NO OH HECK NO, OH NOPE NOPE NOPE don’t like that, oh WTF, Oh I know how this going to go, and more. And I had to talk to someone about it, so that was my hubby, haha. There were just so many moments with little hints or little clues that had me gasping. I love it when a book does that to me!
💖 The kittens brought some well needed cuteness/relief to the whole EVERYONE IS GOING TO DIE moments. They are adorable, cute, and I will protect them. Don’t hurt my babies.
💖 The petcity cats, oh boy oh boy. Your typical horror fare, you think that the place is safe chuckles. It terrified me more times than I could count and I love it. The author really keeps you on your toes and it is perfect. And with each page we learn something more about the cats there. About their ways. What they eat. What they do. And with each bit I was just getting more and more goosebumps. Well done!
💖 We see Patch again in the start of the book and I was like NOPE NOPE NOPE. I am glad that we saw him again though, and I have a few more questions in regards to how he reacts/acts. It did seem that he was able to at least be somewhat there despite being so far gone.
💖 I feel for our cats. Some are OK (or well, as OK as you can be with this) with what is going on and the lack of humans, but a lot of these cats are just house cats, they long for food, dryness, a bed, and love. Just some calm moments. To just sit or lie in a windowsill and look outside at the birds. Not worry for their lives each and every moment. I hope that eventually things settle down and they can have a good home again.
💖 The doggo! Moosh! The bestest and goodest boy in this creepy-ass apocalypse. I just love that he was added. At first I was a bit unsure about his addition, I mean, he looked like a good boy but after reading this series so far I am very hesitant about any new additions. But Moosh? Moosh is such a sweetie and I hope we see more of him as the story continues.
💖 The art. The tension. The scary moments. The way you can just see creepy things lurking. LOVE it.
🤮 Lucky, I liked him at first, but as soon as the story continued he reminded me of my ex. No thank you. I don’t want to give away much more than this, but he is definitely a character I wouldn’t mind getting eaten by either the cult or the beasties outside.
😣 Gigi was SO frustrating in this one. I get that Elsie fucked up, I get that things aren’t easy, but holy heck Gigi. She did so many things in this one that frustrated me and I just wanted her out of the story. Not the kittens though, those were precious babies.
All in all, I am dying to see how this one will continue. We have a lot of OMG things going on in this one and I need to know if our group will get out! Volume 4 releases in March, hopefully this time I can get it ASAP instead of having to wait. crosses fingers And I would recommend this series to all.

Good lord.
These cats are just as insufferable as they are lovable, which is exactly what you want in a post-apocalyptic cat soap opera.
Everything about this volume was nuts. Even if I saw that big reveal coming from a mile away (which says more about me than about the author), it still packed a punch and really showed that Fleecs isn't afraid to continue the great tradition of truly horrifying anthro feline stories.

After their narrow escape from the lady, Elsie and the indoor cats are saved by a new duo, who bring them to the challenge of getting into the abandoned pet supply store. But once inside, their world gets even more hellish than before.
So we’re definitely getting Walking Dead vibes with the constantly moving, feeling safe for all of five seconds, and then something bad happens. I would love to see this change or for it to get shaken up in some way in future issues.
I’m quite curious to see how exactly the disease is transferred, because they talk about it a bit and it was different than I thought it would be.
I am rooting for Elsie because I’m mostly tired of everything bad happening because of her - it’s not always her fault (cough, cough Lord)... also, she’s trying okay. Sometimes not the smartest decision, but still!

3.6 ⭐️ A romance triangle? Right in front of my salad? Probably my least fave volume of the three but still a solid read.
I will never miss an issue of Feral. The art is awesome, the plot is gripping but this volume did feel a tad lacking plot wise.
Saying that, I’ll still be reaching for the next. The art style is brilliant and I adore all the characters. As far as horror comics go, I’ll almost always reach for stuff by Tony Fleecs.

Though I still love these cats, and their misadventures really have me in agony, I can't really get onboard with romance being a part in these series, not at least the way the author has decided to include that element in the story... so out of character on that one.
Chapter 11 (first in the volume) might be the highlight here, with Patch doing a last appearance, and the introduction of some charismatic new characters (for good, or for bad). I especially loved Moosh, and the deaf kitty, so mysterious and endearing.
This continues being 'Walking Dead' with cats, and now our protagonist friends find themselves in a new scenario, that is turning to be even creepier than the previous one. I am not tired of it yet, but I can see how this might get stale (as the aforementioned show did), if it drags too long.
But, again, for now I'm happy to keep reading new chapters... even if the agony is real while doing so.

You know that horrible feeling you get when you KNOW everything is going to go wrong, and you can see how, but you can't stop turning the pages because you have to see it play out anyway? Yeah, the third volume of Feral has that in spades.
Not only does a new friend turn out to be a total scumbag, but the latest safe haven turns out to be literally anything but. It's zombie apocalypse tropes run through a kitty filter, and I'm totally here for it. The drama between the cats, especially Elsie and Gigi, has been boiling for a good few issues now, and seeing it all come to a head is as cathartic as it is terrifying.

Just as dark as the other volumes, i think I'd actually says it's even darker and more disturbing than the previous ones. The start to this one is a sad one. We meet two more characters a lovable mut Moosh and Lucky, a overly charming cat. The groups ends up in a pet shop with this group of cats from the store that formed a weird cult. Lord is immediately getting into trouble with these cats and their rules. Everything is off there from the start and as you continue reading you learn what they did to survive and how messed up these cats are. The drama is escalating and the stakes are getting even higher, it's getting more suspenseful with each volume, I can't wait for the next.

New volume — new setting, huh?
The plot kinda loses its horror-esque charm for a lot of the runtime, which makes makes the big reveal feel weirdly misplaced.
Also, after the gorgeously macabre art of the previous volume, this one seems kinda... toothless?

Never thought I'd be invested in a series about cats surviving a rabies apocalypse but here I am. Honestly I agree with Macie's reaction when she finished. That's a terrible cliffhanger and thank god book 4 is coming out in a few months. We're really hoping these cats find some peace by the end of this.

I continue to dig this comic that has no right to be this good. It's basically The Walking Dead with pets and rabies instead of zombies. This group of cats continue to be on the run from all of these animals carrying a rabies virus. In this volume, they figure out how to sneak in and hide out in a pet store like PetSmart and find some weird cats living in there. Of course, things go wrong again. The art's great. The story is great. What's not to love?

Nothing has me yelling screaming fighting spitting and throwing a fit as much as every cliffhanger in this series. Cant wait for volume 4!
