Senku e Gen bellissimi come sempre.

They never miss the chance of hitting Senku with the "memories-of-your-dead-father" beam, huh?

More Dr. Stone? Say no more!

More inventions, some character moments we were denied before, and elaboration on what time travel means for these characters. All good stuff, surely?

Well, mostly. The first chapter has no reason to exist (KoS expedition to Norway crashes on way back, Senku must re-rebuild his crew and ship up from scratch). That leaves just a quarter of this final volume to explore the quest for a time machine, meaning a signal from the future at a specified moment in the past/present. Consequently, this volume is very abbreviated, even compared to the previous accelerated volumes. The only part that is given any space to breath is the final revelation, which is great because otherwise this volume would completely fall apart.

Chrome and Suika finally, finally come up with an idea that the old world didn't create first. This, even more than Chrome and Ruri's wedding, or Kaseki's decision regarding petri-sleep, was the most rewarding moment for me. At some point it felt demeaning for them to keep coming up with ideas and Senku to go "old news". Not only that, they actually get to contribute to its roadmap.

Unless Boichi wheedles Inagaki into letting him write Hotel 4.0(!) as a further coda, I think we're done here. Thank you two (and Kurare) for the good times.

i can't believe this is over. it felt for me that they skimmed a lot when the went around the world to procure materials for their rocket, but it did not made my interest dwindle so i can overlooked it. overall, what a great read. I WISHED THEY ADD MORE TO THE TIME TRAVELLING STUFF i'm so curious. but alas, i could only wish.

I can't say I really love the time-travel stuff, and I've felt that way since volume twenty-six. But it was fun to see everyone again and see how they work together in the new world they all created together. There were still great bits, and of course, heartbreaking bits. As always, my love for this series runs deep and will never fade.

Gran cierre.

3/5 Volume 27 contains a bonus chapter called “Terraforming” and a 3 chapter prologue called “4D Science” none of them were particularly great or added anything to the story. They weren’t bad but they felt pretty skippable.

The entire gang on the cover of volume of 27.

The Boichi art style didn’t disappoint along with an amazingly executed premise to a story. Characters while not deep never really got old and the story progression kept things constantly new and exciting

An excellent finale to the Dr. Stone series, in that it highlights the thesis of the story, as well as leaves things open, not for a continuation, but the possibilities of science.

Tom 27 to doskonała okazja, by ponownie zobaczyć dużą część postaci.

After waiting so long for this... I really wanted to rate this more highly. Problem is, it feels like it wanted to keep going but then abruptly ended at a non-ending, without even a "THE END" sort of message to indicate it's definitely done *OR* a "next time.../continued" sort of message. The introductory comments from Inagaki and Boichi (or, Boichi, mostly) state that this is definitely the last volume, but the abruptness suggests otherwise *OR* that they don't know how to end a thing.

It's also a bit here and there about what they're actually accomplishing in this volume. Sure, the stated goal is the mission from the prior book, but it goes back and forth so much that it definitely felt like it wouldn't "end" in time. Strange pacing and that.

Still, it's about on par with almost every other book from the series, and I do still like Boichi's art a little more than I maybe should (particularly given how basically all the women are given the same weird body, just with different breast sizes). I guess at least it's not Shokugeki no Soma Season 5 (I've forgotten which volumes of the manga that corresponds to, or I'd link, though maybe you're better off not knowing beyond "when you get to a character named Asahi, stop reading").

This is what happens when you write yourself into a corner because you wanna adhere to (somewhat) real world science: A JARRING CLIFFHANGER!
After a particularly thrilling survival of a plane crash (good thing stone bodies are a lot better at surviving splash crashes than fragile meat bodies), in which, they do the friggin' impossible and craft a mobile lab/boat from the flotsam of the ocean, it goes on to the prospect of colonizing the moon for the intent of harvesting some of their stuff for a theoretical time machine. But that's the kicker since I look up at the night sky and know that we primitive beings who would rather be famous on Tiktok instead of colonizing the moon know we don't have the means to do it yet. Heck, their own pseudo-science workaround runs into a snag and the book ends with them trying to find proof if humanity will actually succeed in building a time machine. We the audience don't know if they find that proof but based on their faces when they unearth it, I think they do.
So yeah, I love seeing the characters one last time (some of which were severely pushed to the wayside in later books), but your canon ending can be volume 26 no problem.

AND STILL NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT THAT THERE'S A ROBOT STEPMOM IN EARTH ORBIT! WHAT EVEN WAS THE POINT OF THE BYAKUYA SIDE STORY?!

The promise of "future science" is being fulfilled! Even if it's (currently) more science fiction than reality at the moment. But the general underlying message is that "Science is a process of steady progress passed from one generation to the next."

It leaves the ending a little ambiguous, which is realistic, because we (as of now) we can never really know what the future holds.

Stellar series, love me some good science and science fiction. Totally worth the read. A+

This series has 27 volumes.

I remember being so impressed when I read this during the pandemic. It has such a refreshing story it tells. Sure, it does get heavy at certain points, and there is an arc where things do become serious, but the majority of the story lets the reader to just chill.

I will always love stories that showcase progress, and this manga showcased progress hella well. World building stories will always be my favorite type of stories.
