OK, that was better. A bit of Sakamoto at his best. Some actual story progression. But ends with a fight between two characters I don't recognise or care about. After giving us more on the bomb kid and such random long fight between characters I don't care about is only reason not five stars.

“Toramaru. There’s nothing wrong with being a fan. We all have someone we look up to. But how about turning a little of that admiration in your own direction? Be your own fan.”

description

The energy in this volume is on a whole other level, and the fight sequences left me holding my breath. The pacing never drags, with each clash escalating in both brutality and emotion. I kept worrying about who might make it out alive, which shows just how well the tension is handled. The panels are sharp, kinetic, and immersive, pulling you into each strike and counter like you’re right there in the chaos. It’s the kind of volume that reminds you why this series stands out in the crowded field of action manga.

What surprised me is how much I’ve grown attached to characters on both sides of the fight. Even some of the “villains” are given depth that makes them hard to root against. The way the characters’ motivations and backstories slowly peel back adds weight to the action—it’s not just mindless violence, it’s people fighting for their own sense of purpose. This balance of heart and brutality is where the series shines brightest. Every character feels like they matter, and that uncertainty over who will rise or fall gives the battles a sharper edge.

The emotional beats hit just as hard as the physical ones. There are flashbacks and moments of raw vulnerability that add layers to the characters we thought we already understood. Alongside the adrenaline, there are quieter revelations about loyalty, family, and self-worth that ground the story in something real. By the end, I was equal parts drained and hyped for what comes next.

Nagumo combat Gaku.

Chapter 143: I enjoy the added value of brand-name items. To appreciate and give value to garbage like this really gives you a sense of human history, achievements, and culture. It's something animals could never replicate.

This volume was action packed from start to finish. Lots of great larger illustrations across the panels creating some great fighting scenes and highlighting the different characters. And I'm not going to lie, the fight between Nagumo and Gaku was pretty lit.

Mafuyu's additional backstory was a little sad but it works within the story line and explains his drive and why he's been doing what X wants this whole time.

Also Osaragi is my girl! She's so amazing and her non chalant attitude fighting both Shin and Mafuyu was my favorite in this volume.

Meh, no paso nada realmente interesante, digo, Osagiri V.S.

The action and adventures keep on rolling in this volume! Yuto Suzuki continues to bring new life to the storyline that I initially thought was on the downturn a few volumes ago…but now appears to be full of life! Sakamoto gets down and dirty in this volume and it does nothing but add savory flavor to this delicious volume. The action is high octane and while I am sure this entire volume would be condensed into one (max 2) episodes, boy its good stuff!

3/5 Stars (%64/100)

I was not a huge fan of this volume. Most of it is dedicated to Mafuyu Seba and Toramaru. The other half was great though. We finally get to see Nagumo in action once again. It's pretty much battle royale from now on. I like the Order but I also support Sakamoto's gang but X's people are also very cool. The last 2 chapters were great. Can't wait for more!

A great palate cleanser to reset your mind between the previous and next mental task. It is funny, but not ha-ha funny like Way of the Househusband, it is more subtle. The absolutely over-the-top fight scenes between a convenience store clerk and the hit-men sent to assassinate him are just that.

The action scenes and wide background shots are amazing artwork.

Another great volume! The exhibition is in full swing and it's great to see some of the classic characters come back. There are some excellent action moments and it feels like this arc is only just heating up.

So hype, my two favorite characters getting a highlight fight against each other lfg! The “kaiju” fight was so sick such a dope idea, really loved the “god of killing” panel as well that’s going down as a classic. So awesome

This review is for volumes 8-17. This is a fun series. As we are faced with the conflict between X and the JAA, learn who X actually is, see the order in full action the mangaka takes this series one notch up!

This volume finds ways to explore new ways of combat. Especially a fight scene with a model city which makes the combatants look like Kaiju (the chapter is called Kaiju). Lots of great moments and comedy which this series is known for.

The battles at the assassin exhibition are starting. Shin and Mafuyu vs Osaragi; it ended as much as one can expect. Then we have a bunch of bumbling JAA henchmen that go and get themselves killed. At this point, I can sorta see X's view point. The JAA is just filled with a bunch of idiots that don't really know what's going on, nor have any intel on who's who in the assassin world. With how much Taro and Shin have interfered already, why don't the JAA have information on them? Why don't more members of the order know who Shin is? I'm just a little perturbed by the inconsistency of who knows who in this small world of assassins, and most of these skirmishes often are the result of miscommunication or misinformation, a highly problematic trope in storytelling.

Anyway, I kinda hope this arc ends sooner cause some of this is starting to get way over the top.
