Yellow Dragon Zeno has sealed away the other three dragons in the Chalice of the Four Dragons’ Blood. He tells Yona and Hak that he wishes to return the four dragons to the heavens and end his life. But is this heartbreaking farewell truly the end of the dragon warriors?
i cannot believe i only have one volume left until i’m caught up with published volumes😭💔
yona and hak attempt to prevent zeno from going through with his plan to end the dragon warriors’ lives, including his own life, but are unsuccessful and must track him down to bring the other three back.
yona’s dreams/visions of the future have been changing rapidly, and she is even thrust into the past where she briefly talks to the original crimson dragon king.
Book: Yona of the Dawn, Vol. 44 Author: Mizuho Kusanagi Rating: 4 Out of 5 Stars
Well, now, I am caught up on the volumes and will have to read the chapters instead. That means it is going to be a while before I post a review for a volume.
I am going to try to keep my review as vague as possible, but since this is the forty-fourth volume in a series, there may be spoilers for earlier volumes.
These last couple of volumes have been very difficult to get through. It has nothing to do with the writing or the plot. It has to do with the emotional toll that these volumes have been leaving. Things are happening and it’s hard. We see characters question things and make very difficult choices. Some of them are somewhat selfish, but they are understandable. The fact that we have gotten to know these characters this way and for this long, what is happening is hard. (Granted, I have not been reading this for ten-plus years. I cannot imagine what OG fans think.)
The impact the story has is great. I know I have talked about this in so many reviews, but the character work is great. The impact that events have and the time we have gotten to know these characters have made me get this deep bond with them. While the plot is good, it is the characters that truly drive this series. After all, without this bond, the story would not have the impact that it has. This is why I think so highly of this series.
I am sad that I am now caught up on the volumes and now have to go chapter by chapter. I have never read manga chapter by chapter, so this will be a new experience for me. I don’t even know what the writing schedule is either.
I don't even have grudge against what Zeno did. The poor old man is tired. But shucks, everything makes sense now, does it? Zeno’s surveillance… not calling them their own names… appearing all too suddenly, being too lax about it in the first place… even still, I wish for them to be reunited so bad though. It's just not yet the time Zeno. Bear it a little longer. Ugh, I should keep calm too. I think I'm going to have nervous breakdown.
Ces personnages me manqueront assurément.
When I say I will sob when this finishes I mean I will sob when this manga series finishes. This manga series and anime series has carried me through so much and this volume felt with some heavy themes and I was crying a little bit here and there. This story is amazing, and even over 15 years later I still love this story. I highly recommend for anyone to read this series.
i'm always smoking my imaginary cigarette reading these final volumes bc it seems like this story is going to end soon but there's also so much that hasn't happened yet???? also don't talk to me about the dragons, i'm in denial!!!!

"Zeno is very good at forgetting people he'll never meet again. He doesn't remember. He'll forget you...and these dragon warriors too." 😭💔
Zeno's plan is crazy...but it didn't work. Unless he figured out what exactly can kill him...when he ominously looked over his shoulder at something. But what?
Yona told Hak she loved him...not once, not twice, not even thrice...but four times! She said "I love you" four times in a row! If this isn't love, then I don't know what is.
This is the darkest arc of Yona yet. I'm all here for it, so long as it ends on a positive note. I have high hopes that it'll end positively...somehow.

We're clearly nearing the end of the series and I'm not ready!!!
Poor Yona, she's been through so much. I was so disappointed with Zeno at first... but we get a glimpse into his past and what he's had to endure over the past millennia. We'll probably see even more character and relationship growth soon as we ramp up into the finale.
Nooooooooo Zeno!!! 😭 the Happy Hungry Bunch can NEVER split up! How could he say that!?! Zeno has been through a lot… I’m NOT okay!
My favorite part was Yona telling Hak “I love you.” 🥰 and then Hak was thinking “I wanna hear this forever but why are you saying it now?” - turns the page - IM GONNA DIE ARENT I??? 😂 I can’t that was so good I died!!
I really enjoyed this volume, SO MANY EMOTIONS. Glad I waited a bit to read it because I cannot handle this cliffhanger. Now there’s just one more month to wait for vol 45
