Fraser created this book with a Trinidadian perspective with "research Jamaica, Montserrat, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Saint Lucia, and Barbados." She says readers should come into this book with a curious mind, a way to take notes, and understand that this work is a short distillation of her own research and experiences. Fraser's desires for readers is that they will be curious to do more research, ask questions and build their own relationship with herbalism. I enjoyed this book. The sketches of the plants were so nice to look at. With each of the plants mentioned, Fraser also includes a personal vignette which I highly highly enjoyed. Fraser talks about location of plants, harvesting them, and making them into medicine. I highly enjoyed and will come back to the book.
