The long-awaited sequel to Hollow reunites the original team for a new paranormal adventure featuring the ghost made famous in Washington Irving's story, The Woman in White.
A NEW PARANORMAL ADVENTURE!
The long-awaited sequel from New York Times bestselling writer Shannon Watters (Lumberjanes) and Branden Boyer-White, alongside fan-favorite artist Berenice Nelle, is finally here!
Return to Sleepy Hollow, the quiet but eerie little upstate New York village that’s home to Izzy, Vicky, Croc… and of course, the Headless Horseman himself.
In the months following their first adventure, Izzy and Vicky are officially a couple now, and so are Croc and Marjorie, leaving Croc’s bestie Leon feeling left out and abandoned. But that might not be their biggest problem when a centuries-old supernatural power reawakens!
The ghost made famous in Washington Irving’s story, The Woman in White, who has haunted Raven Rock since the night she froze to death there, may have found a way to break through to our side… It’s up to the crew to team up once again to save one of their own in a race against time!
A solid entry with good values. Greif can make monsters of us, but that doesn't give us the right to kidnap and kill people... Also, honest and transparency are key to solid relationships, be the romantic or platonic.
I wish it was longer and I can't wait for the next one. Hopefully there will be one and hopefully it'll be 3x the size. Love the art and the story. Themes were handled in a more natural feeling way as well. I appreciate that.
A decent supernatural storyline; light mystery, heavy messaging around communication in relationships. Did not seem to require much knowledge of the first book. Likely targeted to the youngest of teens.
02/12/2025 3 ⭐ I really enjoy the artwork and colouring in this series, but for some reason, the actual story just felt a bit boring to me. I hope they make a third volume because this series is so interesting and inclusive, but I might have to pass on reading it.
Did you know that Sleepy Hollow has more than one spooky legend? (Yeah, I didn't either, but don't worry, it's all on the Sleepy Hollow tourist website). Two young couples are enjoying their late-autumn romance when a winter lightning storm blows in and a delivery driver goes missing. This doesn't impact Izzy, Vicky, and Croc much until Croc's frequently-ignored best friend Leon also disappears while shooting a ghost-hunting video at Raven Rock. The team enlists the help of the Headless Horseman to try to solve the case before it's too late, and hopefully without endangering their romantic lives in the meantime.
I admit I was looking for stronger Halloween vibes, and the relationship drama was also a bit much for me. But I can also agree that there are three compelling storylines, and I understand why the romantic subplots were simplified in such a short story format. I laughed out loud at times and also got a few heebie-jeebies in the creepy parts. This is a satisfactory sequel, and I hope there will be more (Octagon House, anyone?)
I was surprised by this book since I'd kind of forgotten about the first one, though I remembered enjoying it. Maybe a quick re-read (or at least skim) through the first would have made this more enjoyable, but maybe not. The characters seem mostly familiar, though I have forgotten the exact plot of the original, or the nature of the supernatural threat; there are hints of it here, but not enough that I can clearly recall particulars. But the characters weren't really an issue, nor the finer points of the the author's take on the supernatural. The issue is really just that the story isn't very engaging. Based on reviews, seems like I'm not the only one to think so. Not sure what it is, exactly, but the story just feels a bit unfocused, but also too "messagey". I didn't hate reading it, but felt let down.
"Some mention was made also of the woman in white that haunted the dark glen at Raven Rock, and was often heard to shriek on winter nights before a storm, having perished there in the snow." ~ Washington Irving
As a huge fan of all things Headless Horseman, I picked this up because I read Hollow two years ago and thought it was cute. This one was not quite as good story-wise, but it had the same great art, life lessons, and inclusion as its predecessor.
Not as good as the first book in the series. The plot really dragged this time around. I didn't dislike the idea of using the woman in white, but she definitely needed more of something to make her feel more real.
A fun read. The first book was better, more engaging, and Gordo had more wit. I feel like the situation with the woman in white was wrapped up too quickly. Still enjoyed seeing the gang back together and fighting spooky things. I liked that the overall theme was communication and forgiveness.
This was not as strong as the first book in my opinion. It's cute, but the ending is anti-climactic and too easy in my opinion. I won't be continuing the series but I do appreciate how diverse (there is lots of queer, POC, and disabled rep) this series is!
rating’s a bit too low since this wasn’t that different in terms of fun from the first one imo (mystery wasn’t really great but if I remember correctly neither was the og) but liked the setting (wintery so perf for the season) and premise was interesting enough too
The Ghostly tales of Sleepy Hollow continue. This time we swap out the crisp autumn season for the chillness of winter. And with this tale, you can really feel the cold seep into your bones.
While I enjoyed this story's inclusivity, art style, and my time alongside the cast of characters again, the plot of this sequel sadly didn't really captivate me making it a very average reading experience.
Yet another supernatural legend of Sleepy Hollow has come to life and is kidnapping people, and it's up to the gang from book 1 to solve the mystery in this YA graphic novel.
I didn't like this quite as much as the first book, the plot was nothing memorable. When they weren't going ghost hunting, the kids were dealing with interpersonal troubles with dating and friendships and learning how to communicate, so the messaging there was pretty on the nose. I did laugh at the one girl summoning the Headless Horseman to talk about her relationship woes though lol.
