Oh I ADORED this! Sapphic motorbike jousting and pining, what more could you want?

I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy this. It sounded like it could be a fun premise but I worried it would be too cheesy.

When I say I didn’t put this down I mean it. I’m glad I had the whole of volume 1 before starting it because I was locked in. It’s the perfect balance of romance and protecting those you love, action, and an intriguing commentary on classism especially within sports.

The art I adored- especially the centrefold spreads. The use of colour and the details on the armour are spectacular and all the characters had their own style and vibe.

Rep// BIPOC Lesbian/Sapphic MCs, Central romance is Sapphic/WLW.

TWs listed below, please skip if you don’t want spoilers.

TW// death of parents (past), themes of bullying and depression, blackmail, classism, slight violence, elitism, gambling/betting.

Like a faster paced, more intense, more gay Revolutionary Girl Utena!

2.5 just barely rounded up. I feel like this just wasn't for me as well as just being underwhelming in a lot of itself. I mean, there is nothing like a good angsty queer romance about taking down the system (this time in a rich Ivy-esque college deal). But I feel like the conflicts were a bit too shallow for its pagespace and weak on top of that and its theme felt muddled. It wants to be this unprivilege vs those with privilege but it felt all muddled and didn't seem to really land on anything. On top of that the writing feels weak at points with it often being too melodramatic or unrealistic.
The action’s paneling is a bit too out there for me where it just hurts the readability. Multiple times I was confused on the order of the panels. I applaud the attempt but sadly each one was a bit of a miss. The art itself can be a bit of a miss too being a tad on the inconsistent side though this is a monthly issue and Fell Hound seems to be a bit newer on that so I can imagine the workload got a bit overbearing.
I wanted to like this. I mean it seemed so up my alley but it all just felt underwhelming sadly.

Lesbian motorcycle jousting? Always a yes.

So, this is very fun—obviously.

I mean, what wouldn’t be fun about lesbian motorcycle jousting? All of those things are fun individually. So, together? FANTASTIC.

This story has all the intensity of a sports manga blended with all the feels of a Nina LaCour novel. Plus, it’s beautifully illustrated throughout. The character designs here are especially lovely.

Definitely recommend for readers who enjoy an actioned-packed queer romance~

I am not the target audience for S.I.R but i picked it up cause it had a great premise.

The art is undoubtedly gorgeous in a really great way that Boom Box titles always manage. The story for me personally felt a bit muddied in issues #2-4 but the pay off in #5 was absolutely worth it. Plus every character with tattoos had banging flower tattoos.

Read as single issues.

Honestly, I just did not like this book. The characters, they all frustrated me all the hell. I want to rant and ramble, but I won't because I know it's all because of personal opinions rather than the quality of this work. It. Just. Wasn't. For. Me. Sorry.

The art is painfully bad most of the time. And the story is a mess of what I'm guessing is supposed to be foreshadowing and plot development, but is mostly just poor writing and chaotic pacing.
