The Ojanox #2

The Ojanox II: Ashes to Ashes

Rate this book
“Written with beautifully descriptive scenes, The Ojanox places you directly into the quaint, small town of Garrett Grove during the Halloween season where everything is pleasant…until it isn’t. An ancient, dark entity is accidently excavated and escapes into the world with chilling results. The Ojanox is a fresh, original, plot-driven page turner that I couldn’t put down. I highly recommend it and am looking forward to Part Two of this excellent series.” – Jeani Rector, Editor of The Horror Zine

The year is 1979. A small New York town prepares to welcome the fall season in all the expected young children bicker and boast over Halloween costumes, secret lovers meet in clandestine corners, and a tortured soul plots wicked deeds. All the while, hidden just out of view, patient and hungry… an ancient evil lurks.

Welcome to Garrett Grove, an unassuming community nestled within the foothills of the Watchung Mountains. The very definition of “Everytown, USA”, it is a largely self-contained municipality, most of the residents on a first-name basis. An almost postcard-perfect location.

Dr. Ethan Ziegler believes the mysterious outbreak is contained and that the people of Garrett Grove have nothing to worry about. However, an ill-fated traffic fatality leads to a gruesome discovery, leaving Sheriff Carl Primrose and Medical Examiner Burt Lively even more concerned about the deadly infection.

With increasing occurrences of random violence and a rash of absenteeism reported in the towns schools and businesses, it becomes apparent that something terrible is taking place.

Meanwhile, on the side of the mountain, an excavation team has unwittingly released a darkness back into the world.

"In The Ojanox, Daemon Manx creates a community and cast of characters you feel like you know personally, like you’ve known them all your life. And when you lose one of those characters, you’ve lost one of your own. Manx makes you care and makes you hurt. The Ojanox is a masterclass on characterization." ~ Patrick C. Harrison III, Author of 100% Match and Grandpappy

"The Ojanox harkens back to the horror boom of the '70s and '80s, in a very good way. Manx has a knack for creating characters you'll love (or hate) and putting them through the ringer. His dialogue is sharp and storytelling gripping and fast paced. Now that I'm hooked, I need to read the rest!" – Duncan Ralston, Author of Woom and Ghostland

This series is just getting better and better.

Book 2 is great because we are finally getting a better look at the evil lurking in Garrett's Grove. The world building and character development that is continuing to happen in book 2 is fantastic.

The way Manx crafts this story, it's very easy to get lost. I definitely felt as if I was watching the story unfold before my eyes. If this series doesn't become a show someday, I just might cry! This is the type of book I would love to see adapted into film. Manx leaves no details out. You live and breathe right alongside his characters. You are literally in Garrett's Grove experiencing the horrors. And believe me, these horrors....yikes!

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second in a four part series about a small town overrun with a horrifying creature that multiplies like a virus.

In this novel, we're going to be taken to the center of this creature's origins. An undiscovered cave at the local quarry is the hotspot for both the company and a team of experts from a museum. What they find are cave drawings, artifacts, and hand made weapons in extremely good condition.

But by blasting away the entrance, something possibly escaped. A truly horrifying monster which feasts on flesh and spreads itself from person to person, gaining a collective hive mind and turning it's victims into unimaginable monstrosities.

The sheriff's department is soon overwhelmed and who will believe the terrifying truth until it's too late?

Of course this novel ends on one hell of a cliffhanger but will be continued with part three later this year. It's a blood soaked, andreline fueled, action packed creature feature with great characters and a truly frightening monster.

I loved this one and highly recommended it!

I received a copy of this book through Netgalley with no consideration. This review is voluntary and is my own personal opinion.

Halloween

Garrett's Grove is a perfect little town. But the discovery of a cave full of artifacts has changed that. Kids are getting sick. People are disappearing. Strange things are happening. A few brave people are trying to stop it. Their numbers are dropping. This evil is determined to spread. Old school horror at its best.

So this is book two of the four part series by Daemon Manx. Not gonna lie I was super excited to see what happened next, after the cliffhanger of an ending he gave us for book 1. So, it seems to have gone very body snatcher esk, with the dark entity inhabiting multiple human bodies to create a hive mind. So I was curious to learn more about the backstory of these spooky entities that lived in the mountains. Of course Daemon, being in tune with his readers, was more than happy to enlighten us. So when Dr Stephanie Thompson comes up from the museum to check out the cave and its findings. Things get very interesting in terms of context, as we learn more about the tribe that disappeared from the mountains.
Also in terms of the chemistry obviously building between her and Don. Although after hearing how he's dealt with his family situation so far, well I am still holding a grudge over what he said when his missus was pregnant with Troy.
We also come back to Sheriff Primrose and Burt the Coroner, who both hold a big place in my heart. I'm not ashamed to admit that I was rooting for these two to get to the bottom of this. Before the entity recruits the town, we end up with a Rik and Morty episode.
We learn more about Carl’s time in the military and what he went through when he served. Giving us a deeper understanding of his character and why he keeps his focus solely on the job. We also revisit the current hosts of the creature, such a Butchie. It seems the creature does keep the consciousness of some of its victims. But more for a level of understanding the emotions that are still active in the subconscious which I found fascinating.
I do kinda feel sorry for Felix as he makes a reappearance on the morgue table, his body seems to have been dead more times the Michael Myers. But it helps solidify things for Carl and Burt that something is seriously wrong.
We also get to follow on with the relationship between Wendy and Troy, which is incredibly cute. But with the new arrival in class of Janis, changes the dynamic of things. But it also becomes obvious that the thing is very interested in Troy after the Graveyard incident.
Things are starting to move at brisk pace now with the story as Carl and Burt get more people involved, including Dr Ziegler. But the creature intent on converting everyone in this small town, has more evil plans in store.
There are a lot of strong and memorable scenes of violence and action packed into this instalment. One scene in a gas station where Welcome To My Nightmare playing definitely felt like a tongue in cheek moment for me.
Which makes for a gripping and intense second book of the series, I cannot wait for part 3!

So I enjoyed The Ojaxnox I: Scream in the Dark quite a bit. Definitely a nice throwback to the 70s era of horror and had some great creepy action scenes.

I hoped to replicate this with book 2, but felt I struggled with some of the things that also were lacking in book 1. I know the book is *set* in the 70s but the way the women characters are written felt a little antiquated. More or less all of them are throwing themselves at a man at some point or another. There are scenes of women aggressively assaulting men sexually, simply for walking past them. It just felt a bit off and didn’t jibe with me very well. This is not necessarily uncommon in horror, unfortunately, but I do hope in future books Manx is able to build further dimension on his female characters.

There are a LOT of characters who have very vanilla Americana names, so at times it was a struggle to keep up with the various connections. I will 100% admit my stoner goldfish brain could just have an issue with this, but I also had a hard time remembering everything that happened in the first Ojanox book. I think since this is more of a chopped up novel as opposed to a true sequel it lacks some of that finesse in the beginning to bring the reader back into the world the author has created. I’d probably recommend reading these books fairly close together to help with a cohesive story.

Manx does a fantastic job at building a world and a story, however. The evil aspect is done well and I loved the Lenape folklore aspect. I will definitely read book 3 to learn more about the contents of the cave. The focus was a bit lackadaisical with regard to the cave (mostly because the action was elsewhere) and I hope in the next book we get to learn more about the Lenape and their connection. Also, the unexplored areas of the cave are giving me some fantastic(ally) dark vibes. I can’t wait to explore further.

I struggled between 3 and 4 stars with this one but rounded down because of the above issues. I don’t think this is any reflection of the author. I’m not sure if he’s trying to recreate the feeling of the 70s horror era, or maybe if being surrounded by so much testosterone while writing (as mentioned in the foreword) influenced his characters at time. From what I’ve seen on social media and BoH Manx is a wonderful dude.

Recommended for those looking for vintage horror vibes. Loved some of the SK nods in there.

I was unbelievably thrilled to dive back into the goings on in Garrett Grove, having absolutely devoured The Ojanxox : Scream in the Dark. With Part II, Ashes to Ashes surpassed all my hopes as to where and how the tale could continue!

The second part of the stunning Ojanxox series is a pedal to the metal blast, from this superb storyteller. The characters Daemon Manx has brought to life (and frequently dispatches with gruesome fates) are instantly in your head and heart. So, it really matters what happens to them, and their familiarity never breeds contempt. These people are real, and everything they experience feels real - what a gift to read such a completely immersive story!

I can't begin to explain how the location of Garrett Grove feels familiar, but despite the fact I've never been anywhere near the location that inspired this series, it really does feel like going back to a place from my past. To become so familiar with a fictional location is surely yet another mark of the depth these stories can plumb. How can somewhere fictional in a book feel like somewhere familiar? It takes a very skilled writer to achieve this, and for me, each time I go to this small town community, it feels like I have never been away.

And the horrors - so many horrors! - oh how they all unfold here, with relentless pace. It's not shock and thoughtless carnage, though, there's always a reason for everything that happens, and the darkness and dangers really don't give up. It's hard to sustain such a level of drama in any storyline, but Daemon Manx is a master of the craft.

As ever, no spoilers, so while I know I have said it already, I will simply repeat that this series is destined to be a classic in the horror genre. Quite rightly so. If you want to become lost in a superb series of nostalgic era horror, look no further than The Ojanxox series! If you haven't yet managed to read 'Scream in the Dark', treat yourself to it today, and you'll be getting in where it all kicks off. Then, don't hesitate to add 'Ashes to Ashes' to the collection. Awesome stuff... And I have a sneaky feeling that Part III, 'All Fall Down' is just going to get even better. I'm just about to find out, as it's cued in my Kindle, and ready to go.

Intense, compelling and completely unputdownable. If that word exists. If it doesn't, it should immediately go into the dictionary beside pictures of The Ojanxox series! xXx

This is book two in what will be a four-part series. The series focuses on the small town of Garrett Grove. The town is being overrun by sickening monsters that threaten to take over the entire town. The people of the town seem to be infected by something unknown that mutates them into hideous creatures.

Book two takes up to a new place. A place long forgotten. The local quarry had been digging and came across a large cavern. A museum specialist is brought in to look at what artifacts might be contained inside. The bigger question now is: what was released when it was opened? The cave holds artifacts, weapons, bones and murals. The murals seem to tell some great story, and the cavern goes very deep and has many rooms.

There are so many things going on at once in this story. Each part of town seems to have its own drama and storyline going. I like that, it's like you get to see what's happening to everyone at the same time just at different moments. The sheriff's department. fire department and the paramedics are overwhelmed with people missing, fires, accidents, they just can't keep up. The sheriff is forced to not only bring older officers out of retirement but to deputize civilians.

Like the first book and I'm guessing the next one, this book ends on a major cliffhanger. I was so invested in the last few chapters that I didn't see it coming. This part was action packed, grotesque and sad. With a series like this, you tend to start to have favorite characters and even find ones you might relate to. So when one dies, you feel it. I love that the town is based on a real place, makes it more real.

Overall, this is another fantastic book from a master writer. The characters, the setting, the monsters, the descriptions, there isn't one bad thing I could say about this series. I'm invested in finding out if the town will survive and if it does, just who will survive the coming onslaught. You can tell the author took time to research. Every little detail is thought and purposeful. This is a series I would highly recommend to any horror fan but especially those who love 80s horror. I received this book free from the author for an honest review.

Ashes to Ashes is the chilling second story in Daemon Manx's Ojanox horror series; Garrett Grove grapples with an ancient evil unleashed by an explosion during an excavation in the Watchung Mountains. The town quickly descends into chaos, plagued by mysterious violence and a rapidly spreading infection.

Reading "Ashes to Ashes" felt like flipping through my mom's photo album from the 1970s. Daemon Manx's sequel in The Ojanox Series pulled me back to when Walkmans were the latest tech and MRI machines were marvels. The story wraps you in the eerie atmosphere of Garrett Grove, transporting you to a bygone era filled with vivid memories and creeping chills.

Ashes to Ashes sucks me in once more to the quaint town of Garrett Grove, where things are ramping up and has the town spiraling into a nightmare scenario never before seen.
Some characters, such as Burt, Abe, Don, and Lois, survived the first book, and you still have Troy and Wendy. But this book introduces some new characters, including Dr. Stephanie Thompson, her sister and daughter, some deputized people, and Father Kieran McCabe. With the children falling ill and people going missing, Sheriff Carl Primrose and his deputies face problems. Dr. Ziegler is overwhelmed with no-shows at Chilton's Medical Center Emergency Room, creating a chaotic and creepy foreboding atmosphere that sends goosebumps up and down my arm.

What I love about "Ashes to Ashes" is its seamless blend of nostalgia and horror. Manx's writing evokes a vivid sense of the late '70s and heightens every creepy, twisty turn. The dialogue, filled with old sayings and snarky expressions, added an authentic touch that made me smile and think, "I forgot all about that!"

The story is full of well-developed, solid characters and rising suspense with unexpected plot twists that left me eagerly turning pages until the last page ended with" to be continued." Argh. I have to know what happens next. If you enjoy a mix of nostalgic horror with an unhealthy dose of fear, "Ashes to Ashes" is a must-read that will chill you while warming your heart with memories of a time gone by.

Have you ever had to pause your reading, log into your Amazon and order the next two books of the book you’re reading? Because that’s absolutely what I just did! This is book two of a series of 4 books. It picks right up where the last book ended and we see how the “Ojanox” has taken over the town and little by little it's picking the community apart. Is it a vampire? Is it a demon? Is it a cosmic entity dropped specifically here to make sure to ruin poor Troy’s halloween experience with Wendy and Janis? The Ojanox II Ashes to Ashes is just as good as the first one, it does not lose the grip the first book has on you and it eases you back in to the middle of the shitstorm that's taking over the small town of Garrett Grove. We get several points of views, from the smallest town citizens and comedic our boy, Troy, and thank God for him or this book would still be good but just straight up dread.  We also get the POV of the extremely stressed out and overworked Sheriff Carl as well as  several other characters. I absolutely loooove this series, I have not been able to not think about it since I first read the first book a few weeks back and I was blessed enough to get a copy of the second book via NetGalley, which I am extremely thankful for. I can’t stress enough that reading  this plays in your head like a good horror/thriller/mystery  TV series. The characters all have actual personalities, there is young romance, there are actual human connections between the characters that aren’t cringe or forced, you have comedic relief in between and most of all you have an actual plot with lore and great atmospheric world building. Did I mention that I absolutely loved this book?

To be honest, Book II is far better than the first one - and the first was an absolute blast! The level of detail and the intricacy of plot, coupled with the realism pervading the story -though this is a supernatural tale through and through- is utterly jaw-dropping!

This second volume is essentially the chronicle of a small town's complete devastation by evil supernatural forces: children go missing and come back transformed into monstrous killers; families disappear to become the pawns of a hungry force of legend; beloved characters face enemies they cannot possibly handle; and, sadly, some of these same characters won't come back for Book III. Local authorities find themselves overwhelmed by powers which have already destroyed whole communities in the past. What are Garrett Grove's chances? What can a small 1979 New York town do against a most powerful supernatural enemy?

Amidst all this, Manx never misses the slightest opportunity to highlight the human element: old loves, old regrets, teenage angst, first love, risky work relations - this book may be a paean to 1980s horror, but it captures only the best those horror novels had to offer: riveting horror reads with characters you easily care about, ancient evils rooted in past mysteries, with engrossing build up to the most satisfying cliffhangers! Plus the creepy cover whose awesomeness is only enhanced once you've read the book!

The Ojanox series proves to be a feat of imagination offering the greatest immersive experience and the most wonderful summer reading! Seriously, do NOT miss this!

“He’d been thinking in terms of demons and not demonic possession, certainly not on such a grand scale.”

Arghhhhhh!! Have you heard me screaming?! This book is…anticipation. I am so hooked. Each section comes to an end leaving you wanting to continue with what you were reading, but then you start reading the next section and you get excited because you get to find out what happened somewhere else in the book. Does that make sense? And it is like this from start to finish, you just don’t want to put the book down.
The Ojanox is a full on epic novel filled with characters and subplots that become part of your life. It is so immersive as you oversee this small town with the evil expanding at the expense of the naive town folk.
Police, hospitals, and businesses feel the strain as employees go missing and don’t show up to work. It is only you, the reader, that knows the full extent of the shitstorm that is brewing (in the bowels of this town🤭). You bear this burden while Daemon Manx has a crushing grip on your heart and lungs and squeezes your emotions all over the innocence (and not so innocent) of the town.
I want to jump into this story and help everyone out, but I can’t.
This is what I long for in a book. Thank you Mr. Manx for bringing this town to life for me, try not to burn the whole thing down okay🤷‍♂️

Another great novel in the series. I could not believe how immersed I became in this novel. From the description of Tony racing through the graveyard as the mutated beasts chased him to the discovery of the ancient artifacts in the cave. Clues were given to the reader as to how to combat the evil but the clue was just missed several times by Carl. When I had figured out the source to combat the evil, I was yelling at Carl to pay attention but then I realized this is set before much was known about technology. Each chapter brought about highs and lows. One minute I was reading something in favor of the brave townspeople only to have my heart ripped out a few chapters later. This author is so incredibly skilled at storytelling. I could feel the temperature drop when the beasts were near. I could envision the horror people experienced as they came face to face with the beasts. Be prepared to be angry, joyful and sorrowful as the book reaches its climactic cliffhanger.
P.S.; you know how some novels prove a little disappointing as the series progresses…..not so with this novel! 👹👹👹👹👹

Manx is amazing at this small-town horror largely because he makes you feel like you are within the town itself. For a moment, you may be overwhelmed by the cast of characters, but you quickly slide in as another resident in Garrett Grove. Everyone has a story, and each contribute to the individual reactions and overall plot of the slow downfall of the townspeople. Manx is able to give a realistic voice to everyone from a 4th grader to a seasoned mortician, and I ate up each one of them. Having built the beginning of the story and the terror of the unknown in Ojanox I, Manx is able to dive deeper into the history in Ojanox II. History of the characters who grew up here, history of the Ojanox from it's own perspective, and history of the Ojanox from the intellectual standpoint.

There is just something about Manx's writing that makes you eat up these stories like you are binging your favorite reality TV, while somehow making something so ridiculous actually seem plausible. How would you react in a small town? Whose word would you trust? I am so happy the story is not over just yet!

My word, THIS SERIES. 🔥🔥🔥

Something terrifying has been unleashed in the small mountain town of Garrett Grove, and 💩 is going DOWN.

I can't say too much more about the plot since the events happen directly after the end of the first book. But if you've read and loved the first book, you haven't seen anything yet.

I love that this series is split into four books so I feel accomplished when I finish one, I think I would be super intimidated if it was all in one release. The growth of the characters as the stories progress, the incredible and horrific plot, everything. There are so many characters that sometimes I have to stop and think about who was who, but it hardly affected my reading. If you were shocked in the first book, this one brings even more jaw dropping moments. This series is INCREDIBLE.

I recommend reading them back to back to back, but chances are, you're going to want to do that even without my recommendation. Book three is already out, and book four releases at the beginning of next month!

Ashes to Ashes is the natural continuation to the Ojanox series. As the horror and tension builds, the characters you have emotionally invested in, and the new characters that are introduced start being pushed to their limits and chaos quickly ensues. Add in ancient caves and artifacts, monsters, 70s/80s atmosphere and references (and Pennsylvania references), stir well, and what you get is good old horror at its best for me! This was a great continuation of the Ojanox series and I can’t imagine what is in store for the next book, but I am psyched to find out!

On a side note, I absolutely love the way the books are being released. There is enough time in between releases that you pine for the next book. Then BAM, the next book is released and you get to jump back into the dangerous world of the Ojanox! What a great way to keep the series fresh in the reader’s mind and remain on our radar. Well done!

Daemon Manx expands on the best parts of Book I and is off to the races in Book II of this epic series. I cannot believe much I am loving all of the characters. The fact that I know they may start disappearing is jarring and riveting at the same time. I am rooting for all of my faves, but I fear I am going to be crushed again and again. The accuracy and detail that Manx utilizes to set this in 1979 is incredibly on point. As an official Gen X'er, I am loving the nostalgia of the good times, and grateful that some of the bad times are no more. The pace at which the story starts to accelerate is giving me whiplash, and I urge you to put on your seatbelt. I have a feeling this series is going to wear us all out in the best of ways. I cannot wait for Books III & IV. Thank you Mr Manx for delivering just what I need leading up to Halloween.

I read book one. While I thought book one was great, book two takes it to the next level. The 'virus' begins taking even more lives as the residents of Garret Grove realize this is no ordinary virus. It stems from an ancient civilization. The mix of horror elements along with the folklore of old civilizations made this a fun read for me.

The book has the perfect feel of a late 70s, early 80s horror horror flick. Also, in book two, the characters especially Troy and Carl begin to be fleshed out even better as more of their personal lives are revealed. It's almost like I'm watching a horror mini-series as I'm reading and I'm enjoying it right now.

All I can say is, that I'm waiting for book three as the 'Ojanox' begins to grow in numbers and claim more victims. Daemon has written a series that every '70s horror fan will enjoy. Book three can't come fast enough!

The Ojanox II: Ashes to Ashes, by Daemon Manx, is a stellar continuation to Scream in the Dark. The story picks up right where the first book left off. It starts with a bang and doesn’t let up, taking you through two days that are filled with action, anxiety, and tension. Some of the lingering questions from the first book are answered, but new ones arise to take their place. My only regret about reading this now is that I have to wait until September for the third installment and October for the grand finale. As much as I want to tell you to read both Ojanox stories right away, it might not be a bad idea to wait and binge all four in succession. The ends of the first two in the series left me immediately wanting to know what happens next. Either way, you don’t want to miss what’s going on in Garrett Grove!

Ashes to Ashes
2nd book in The Ojanox series
By: Daemon Manx
Supernatural Horror
5 out of 5

I love when you read a series, that the next book starts off where the previous one stops. This book is just that. Ashes to Ashes starts where Scream in the Dark ended. I have not found a character that I did not like. I also found myself talking to the characters in some parts.
Garrett Grove citizens are disappearing, and returning different. Could a cave that was discovered be the problem? Can the sheriff, his deputies, and three kids stop what is happening?
Highly recommended for people who love supernatural horror and characters that make you talk to them.

The first book was great, but I feel this one is even better! There is so much action happening and all you can do is take it all in as Manx pulls you further into the darkness and reveals even more of the mysterious evil that is taking over.

Manx nailed it with the characters. They are very relatable. Their fear is real and their determination to figure things out is astounding. Many favorites in this series. The small town vibes, the characters and the imagery Manx provides make this such an immersive read. It’s super easy to get lost in this story and I can’t wait for part three.

The second book in the Ojanox quartet picks up right where the first book left off. We're days away from Halloween and the Ojanox is working overtime to terrorize the town of Garrett Grove.

I really like the character development and growth in this series. Even with new characters that occasionally get brought in, a few pages in and you feel like you've known them for awhile.

I'm really looking forward to starting the third book. It's been a minute since a series has held my attention so completely.

I give this book 5 of 5 Paws

Ok. Well…
2nd part & you need to read the 1st part. This is a ride!
Old school and built up horror. What’s hidden and coming out, what’s scaring you and what’s terrorising you.
Absolutely fab way of building things up from part 1 to this, the town is now in the grips of the horror and in my mind it’s going to get worse before it should I say gets better!
Characters to root for, to feel sad for, to want to push and shout at them to get a move on!
Loving it

I was so excited to read the next one, especially after the cliff hanger in the first book! We discover more about the Ojanox's origins. There's not one dull moment in it, and I imagined the book playing in my head like an 80s horror movie. Body Snatchers to horrifying mutants rampage through the unfortunate town of Garrett's Grove. There's plenty of characters you will root for. Will they survive? Please read and find out because this book is a lot of fun!

Continued from part 1, part 2 we get a really good picture of the town - and all hell is breaking loose. The hospital is filling up with sick people, but most of the staff is MIA. A body that had gone missing from the morgue was found, but not until after it was hit while walking across the road. And the worksite that found lots of old bones has some incredible cave art...

I've really enjoyed the story so far, but I don't like it being split into 4 books. I want to finish it now!!!

Another great read from Daemon Manx in his second book of this series. I enjoyed it very much and can’t wait for the next two books in the series. Well written with wonderful characters and the town’s mystery about the cave and creature keeps you on the edge of your seat. Congratulations on a terrific entertaining series. Would be a terrific movie or mini series.

Daemon Manx Ashes to Ashes: The Ojanox book 2
I loved the world building we get as this second installment in The Ojanox series gets underway. This one allowed me to get a deeper feel for some of the characters and they run the spectrum.
As much as I enjoyed the first one I dare say this one was that much better. Cannot wait to see where the last two books in the series will take us
****I meant to add this to the first as well. The series is peppered with beautiful illustrations throughout so I feel like I will need to invest in physical copies for my shelves 🥰

Another action packed visit to Garrett Grove! The insanity and violence started quickly and didn't let up. At the rate things are going, I don't know how there will be enough residents left for 2 more books! I love the small town atmosphere and Manx's storytelling is fantastic! I'm really looking forward to the last 2 books!

What a well written book. The author develops the characters so that you feel like you know them. The characters feel like your neighbors in a small town. Everything is quaint and comfortable until the havoc begins. After that, nothing will ever be the same. I could not put this book down.

Buckle up people for an amazing story!! Ojanax are ancient beings that have awakened after quite some time.
That’s why you stay out of caves! Creepy, scary and definitely makes you think.
Many twists and oof moments.
Cannot wait to get to the next book to find out what is going on.
