Capturing You grabbed my attention from the beginning. Photographer Brooklyn Wright finds herself in trouble when she captures something she shouldn't have seen while taking a picture of a sunrise photo. Forbes Ballentine, who has been trying to solve the mystery of who killed his parents and sister when he was 8 years old, rescues Brooklyn. Capturing You has the perfect balance of romance and suspense with intrigue and banter between Forbes and Brooklyn, along with twists, turns, and surprises.
Easily a 5-star read for me! I was hooked from the start and didn’t want to stop reading.
Forbes has been trying to figure out why his whole family was killed years ago, and now he’s back at his family’s old manor to finally get some answers. What he doesn’t expect is Brooklynn trespassing on the property. She’s just trying to snap the perfect photo but ends up in serious danger because of something she accidentally captures.
With danger closing in and Brooklynn now being targeted, Forbes takes it upon himself to keep her safe. They both have their own reasons for not trusting people, but somehow, they start to trust each other. The banter... I loved it! And the chemistry? So, so good. Of course, they’re also dealing with a ton of secrets, danger, and twists at every single turn! I could not flip the pages fast enough!
Forbes life plans have quickly changed: ⏹️Keep Brooklynn safe & find out why she's being targeted. ⏹️Find out who killed his family & why. ⏹️Stay alive... so they can explore what's happening between them.
I’m picky with romantic suspense because sometimes the romance feels like an afterthought ... but not here. Both the suspense & romance were perfectly balanced! The suspense had me at the edge of my seat, and the romance was everything I wanted and more. This was my first book by Robin, and it definitely won’t be my last. I loved it!
I received a complimentary copy. This review reflects my honest opinion.
Capturing You lands as the sixth full-length novel in The Wright Heroes of Maine series by Robin Patchen. I read book one (which I loved) but not any of the other novels. I recognized some character name dropping, but Capturing You worked fine as a standalone romantic suspense.
I read about one-third of Capturing You before the story truly hooked me. The mysterious murder of Forbes’ family had me side eyeing all the secondary characters, wondering who knew details about the murder and who did it. Was Forbes’ late father a good guy or a bad guy? As is typical for Patchen’s novels, my guesses were incorrect and I didn’t know who did what until it was explained.
The murder mystery element of Capturing You appealed to me the most, but the novel also held suspense, some character growth, and a romance with the forced proximity and grumpy/sunshine tropes. At times, Brooklynn's optimism and naivety felt unrealistic, but I stuck with the story and enjoyed the big reveals and the happily ever after. Readers of Susan May Warren and Lisa Phillips will likely enjoy Capturing You by Robin Patchen.
Disclosure of Material Connection: I was provided a copy of this book by the author or publisher. All opinions in this review are my own.
This sixth of the series is set on the coast of Maine. Photographer Brooklynn Wright is trespassing (technically...but is she doing any harm?) to get the perfect sunrise photo. While she's fully focused on the perfect shot, smugglers are nearby fast at work. At first, neither are aware of the other and then once the smugglers see Brooklynn, she's running for her life. Enter Forbes Ballentine who owns the property and saves Brooklynn. Forbes is trying to solve the mystery of who killed is family when he was eight years old. The ending in particular is fast paced with lots of character twists.
I look forward to the next in the series.
My gratitude to the author for a complimentary copy of the novel. I was not required to post a review and all opinions expressed are my own.
This was a great Christian romantic suspense that hooked me right from the beginning. I haven’t been reading much lately but I completely binged this book in one day. I read the first book in this series way back but haven’t read the rest of the books leading up to this one, however, this book worked very well as a standalone. I liked it even more than I expected. When our heroine photographer Brooklynn stumbles onto some suspicious activity while capturing the sunrise she’s chased into the arms of a reclusive billionaire, our hero Ford/Forbes who is living with a hidden identity. Twenty-five years ago his family was murdered and he’s back to solve their murders and nothing is going to get in his way. When it’s clear that Brooklynn is in danger, she stays close to Forbes and their forced proximity ramps things up. She is nosy and getting into everything and that drives our grumpy hero up the wall. However, when she starts to notice things, they slowly get along more and more. With a stalker ex, troublesome characters hiding in a small town, and more questions than answers, this murder mystery with romance is sure to keep you guessing until the last page with all of its twists and turns. A wonderful read. This is a just kisses romance, intimacy level 2.
I received an ARC of this book via Just Read Tours and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Capturing You is a fantastic mystery read. It has been a long time since I read a mystery that I didn’t figure it out way before he or she was revealed. Robin Patchen wove suspense, intrigue and a story of redemption with such seamless ease. I thoroughly enjoyed the adventure that brought Brooklynn Wright and Ford Baker/Forbes Ballentine together. If you are looking for an amazing read about small towns, murder, cold cases and conspiracy, this read is a definite must.
Another stunning romantic suspense novel from Robin Patchen! When Brooklynn Wright catches some suspicious activity at a seldom used dock while working to get the perfect sunrise picture on the waves, her life is placed in immediate danger. Rescued by a stranger, she finds she has no choice but to trust him to keep her safe. Forbes is frustrated by the intrusion of this woman while he works to figure out who murdered his family 25 years prior, but he isn't willing to let her die as well. As the 2 of them work together to solve the cold case mystery, they are both placed in the crosshairs.
This book hit the ground running and did not let up! Though this is book 6 of the Wright Heroes of Maine, this story stands on its own. Characters from the prior books are referenced, but you won't be lost if you haven't read the previous stories. For fans of the series, though, in this book, we're introduced to the second Wright sister/cousin, the artistic one. And it is her artistry that puts her in the scenario of danger. This book had a lot of fun tropes: a cold case mystery, a grumpy/sunshine romance (my favorite of all the romance tropes), secret identity, previous stalker..... as well as a few surprise twists at the end. I really enjoyed the faith thread in this one as Forbes grew in his understanding of God's presence in his life through Brooklynn and the adventure that they find themselves in. And though the romance moved quicker than I like, it was on par with the romantic suspense genre and the forced proximity trope that was also found in this book. The suspense element was fantastic and I could not get the pages turned quickly enough to see what was going to happen. All in all, this was an excellent romantic suspense novel and one I can easily recommend to fans of the genre. Special thanks to the author for an advance e-copy of this book. I was under no obligation to provide a review and the thoughts contained herein are my own.
Capturing You is a fast-paced, action-packed suspense novel. The many twists and turns carried me in many directions, trying to read the clues.
Brooklyn, a professional photographer with a gallery, is on what she thought was deserted property to get the money shot. After she takes the perfect shot, she notices something she shouldn't have, and gets a shot of it. Now, men are chasing her, and she runs.
The storyline goes into many secrets around the Ballentine Manor and a family murder that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The ending wrapped up everything nicely with a few surprises. A great read. Highly recommended.
I received a complimentary copy from the author; a positive review is not required. All opinions are my own.
“There was only one thing Forbes wanted, one thing he’d lived for since he was eight years old. Justice.”
I have truly enjoyed The Wright Heroes of Maine romantic suspense series by Robin Patchen. In most of the previous books, we have seen Michael, Sam, Derrick, and others family members tackle huge intrigue challenges, often overseas. Now, in book six, Capturing You, and book five, we have moved on to their cousins’ family. Capturing You is unique so far in that the enemy is much closer to home.
Brooklynn Wright desperately wants to win the local photography contest. Free publicity for her struggling photography studio in town would be a boon, and she also badly wants to show her father she is competent in her field. Gavin Wright and others seem to see only fluff and lightweight when they see Brooklynn.
Unfortunately, Brooklynn’s great curiosity (which Ford Baker, identified as the handyman at the local mansion) would call a propensity to snoop. Brooklynn’s inquisitiveness turn her desire for the perfect photo into a run for her life on a Maine shore. Knowing she will be caught and probably killed, she is surprised to be rescued by Baker.
Afraid of her new protector, afraid of the men chasing her, knowing she can’t go home, Brooklynn doesn’t know what her next step is. But she does know, unlike Ford, that “God always made a way. All her life, He’d guided her. And He wouldn’t stop today. He was her protector, after all. Her strong tower. Her fortress.”
Ford is using an alias he’s had since childhood, when his parents and sister were murdered in their Shadow Cove mansion. Life has made him grumpy, pessimistic, quiet, and suspicious. When he starts to get to know Brooklynn, who is sweet, optimistic, talkative, and trusting, he finds himself wanting to protect her.
Ford and Brooklynn eventually begin to work together, but the trust is slow and fragile. Gradually, clues are uncovered which reveal a truth the two suspected: someone they know is behind the murderous game of cat-and- mouse. “She used to think of her town as one big family. Now it felt more like a spiderweb, everyone connected to everyone else, the silky fibers hidden until they trapped the innocent.”
I was in a race against the novel as I read, as if my figuring out the mystery before it was revealed could save their lives! Patchen’s characters certainly were alive for me! Fortunately, Brooklynn and Ford did not require my skills. Patchen threw in some twists that left me off the mark. Can Brooklynn and Ford discover who was behind the heinous crime 25 years ago and what connection there is to the smugglers today? Can Ford decide God does indeed care about him, despite the past?
You will not want to miss a book of this series! I would suggest reading these in order, although the book probably could stand alone.
I received a copy of the book from JustRead Tours. I also bought my own copy. No positive review is required, and all opinions are my own.
Notable Quotables:
“There’s no shame in knowing who you are, who God created you to be.”- Ford
“She needn’t worry. She only needed to ask Him to open the doors she was meant to walk through. To pray that His will would be done. It was a prayer He loved to answer.”
“Sticking your head in the sand isn’t a plan.”- Ford
“It seemed her grouchy friend was a lot like this old mansion. A little rough on the outside, but filled with beauty. And secrets.”
A unique setting, multi-dimensional characters, a longtime unsolved mystery, and top-notch writing combine to make this book an exceptional addition to the Christian romantic suspense genre for 2025 . . .
Photographer Brooklynn Wright is out in the nature in Shadow Cove, Maine, taking photos to enter into a highly-respected photography contest founded and sponsored by a couple who Brooklyn considers to be her mentors.
Her curiosity gets the better of her and Brooklyn begins taking photos of some people engaging in what she feels is illicit behavior. When the people whom she is photographing see her, their intense and suspenseful pursuit of Brooklyn begins—and these people mean business! The action scenes are a suspense fan's dream come true.
I don't want to spoil the many surprises in this story by revealing too much of the plot here, but astonishing things begin to happen in a plot that is driven by tension, close calls, heart-pounding danger, romantic chemistry, and unexpected revelations.
The introduction of new characters in the last portion of the book added even more depth to the plot and gives readers an emotional culmination to the story.
I have read a lot of books in this genre for the past decade, and I can say without hesitation that this author—Robin Patchen—is one of the best I've ever read. Her attention to detail and her skill at building an intricate plot truly benefit her readers.
This story is completely clean in language and content. I received a copy of this book from the publisher through JustRead Publicity Tours. All of my thoughts and opinions shared here are solely my own.
Capturing you is the sixth book in the Wright Heroes of Maine by Robin Patchen. While this is part of a series and references characters from the other stories, this is a very good stand-alone story. This is a well written book that is easy to read and so easy to get caught up in. This story focuses on Brooklynn Wright as she sees suspicious activity while taking a photo for a contest. Forbes is back in the area, trying to get to the bottom of what happened to his family many years earlier. He finds Brooklynn just in time to help her get to safety from the men who are hunting her.
This is such a good story. The main characters are interesting and caring people. The story is easy to get caught up in as it is fast paced, filled with action and suspense with twists and turns that seem to never end. This story is so captivating that it is hard to put down. I especially enjoyed this story as it focuses on one of the Wright girls. I also enjoyed the mystery surrounding what happened to Forbes and his family years earlier. I enjoyed how quickly Brooklyn was able to help him piece the mystery together.
I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book, this is my honest review.
Capturing You hooked me from the beginning. This is the first by the author; and I am disappointed I had not read her other books in the series. (This is the sixth book.)
Robin Patchen has created a book of suspense from the very beginning. I love it when the action happens quickly. It is the first chapter that can make or break a book for me. I know it should not, but it does. Capturing You does not fall far from its name and really captures you. The Forbes and Brooklyn both have baggage, which I love to read about.
Disclaimer: “I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.”
a romantic-suspense story set in small-town maine!
brooklynn wright just wanted to take some sunrise pictures along the shore, when she saw something she maybe shouldn’t have… luckily, forbes ballentine is there to help keep her out of danger—for now. danger seems to be at every turn, heightening when it seems to connect to the decades-cold mystery forbes wants to solve.
capturing you is the sixth book in robin patchen’s the wright heroes of maine series, but can easily be read on its own. it’s full of action and suspense, plenty of secrets to uncover, and some fun banter between brooklynn and forbes that readers of romantic suspense are likely to enjoy. throughout the story, forbes, too, has a valuable perspective shift in how he understands God’s role in his life, and the maine coast, small-town atmosphere, and abandoned mansion make for interesting elements amongst everything else.
it’s a solid read, and i liked it.
considerations: —language: none —spice: kisses only —faith: mentions of God, prayer, and being a christian —content: violence, stalking, mentions of murder and drugs
(i received a complimentary copy from the author. i was not required to write a positive review, and all the opinions i have expressed are my own.)
I first read Robin Patch last year and her romantic suspense books quickly became some of my favorites. I was so excited for another book in the Wright Heroes of Maine series, unfortunately this book sort of fell flat for me. The pacing seemed a bit off. It was so slow until the end and then everything sort of felt rushed. I wasn’t completely sold on Brooklyn and Forbes as a couple. However, I did enjoy the mystery surrounding Forbe’s family and the smuggling operation. Patchen kept me guessing the whole book. There were a lot of twists and turns. I just wish we had gotten more of Forbes and Brooklynn out investigating instead of shut up inside the mansion most of the time. I found myself wanting to skim through their interactions that had nothing to do with solving the mystery. Even though this wasn’t my favorite in the series, I am still really looking forward to the next book.
*I was sent a complimentary copy with no expectations for a favorable review.
Brooklynn just wanted the perfect photo. She never expected to run into a group of men who would do their best to kill her... Forbes came back to Shadow Cove because he wanted answers, so when he's forced to save an unknown woman from killers rather than getting the answers he'd hoped for, he's understandably grumpy. But maybe she's what he actually needs - if he can only see it. As the pair work to unravel a decades-old town mystery and he's forced for the first time to accept help with his task, he starts to realise she's all he's ever wanted - but has he left it too late?
A definite page-turner that kept me up far too late through its great mix of character development, mystery, action and romance. Forbes has been hiding who he is for so long that he barely knows it himself; Brooklynn only sees the good in people, though things still haven't been easy. Put the two together, add an unacknowledged attraction, an old mystery and a group of unknown killers, and you've got a story that ticks all the boxes. It kept me guessing throughout, in the best of ways, and the only thing I wasn't so keen on was who the bad guys were. I guess there's a little too much of Brooklynn in me... All in all, a great read - recommended.
Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.
Capturing You is an amazing story that will grip you from the first page to the last. Robin Patchen takes the reader back to Shadow Cove to follow the story of Brooklyn who will finally get her HEA but not without twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
While this book is part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone and, as always, contains no foul language or inappropriate sexual scenes. The Christian message is gently shared but is not pushy.
I received an ARC of this book, but the opinions are entirely mine. I enjoyed this book and can highly recommend it.
Capturing You by Robin Patchen is the latest book in the Wright Heroes of Maine series - and it's excellent! It centers on Brooklynn Wright, a photographer who happens to take pictures of something nefarious, and Forbes Ballentine, a man searching for answers to the murder of his family 20 years ago. Turns out, the 2 incidents are connected, and the we are taken on the journey of Brooklynn and Forbes working together, falling out, resolving - basically, life! Told in an exciting story of harmful lies & truths, bad guys chasing, good guys trying to escape, and some romance just, well, because. But I have to say my favorite part of this book is that, for the first time, I have a main character that I understand and can identify with. Not the bad guy part! But Brooklyn is an optimistic, Pollyanna type - always bouncing back, seeing the good, wanting to help others - and that is who I am as well. So, while I certainly can't identify with the 'drama' parts of the story, I enjoyed saying "yes" a lot to Brooklynns's approach to life and problem resolutions! Bottom line: great story by a great writer. Get it. Read it. You'll be glad you did!
As always, Robin delivers another masterpiece! I absolutely loved everything about this book, especially the billionaire trope mixed with a gripping mystery—it made for such a fun and addictive read. Watching the romance blossom between Forbes and Brooklyn was such a treat; their chemistry was undeniable. I’m so excited to read the rest of the sisters’ stories. This is definitely a must-read for romance and mystery lovers alike!
I’ll admit it. I’m addicted. Addicted to these novels!! The Wright family has captivated me from the first novel. We follow the Wright Brothers in the first series, and now we’re following their cousins in this series.
In this novel, we follow Brooklyn. She’s a photographer. She’s actually really good and makes a living doing it, but her dad still doesn’t accept that it’s a real job, so she’s hoping to win a prize. This makes her almost neurotic in getting the right shot.
While she’s getting that shot(and yes, she does get it) she also captures smugglers. In case you’re wondering, this is not a good thing. And yeah, of course, they see her. She’s on the run, and they’re going to catch her!
But help comes from an unexpected source. Ford rescues her. There are these secret caves, and then he takes her into the Ballentine mansion. This mansion man, it’s full of secret places. But Ford also has some secrets. He says he’s a handyman and he’s trying to fix up the mansion while also solving the murders. What he really is is Forbes Ballentine, the last surviving member of the family that was murdered in this mansion! Ohh, I really want to say more about that murder, but I’d be giving things away and I can’t do that. Let’s just say the ending is a bang-up job and I loved it!
I absolutely adored this novel. I loved that the author gave a slight teaching on healthy relationships and what is and isn’t considered okay. Brooklyn used to have this boyfriend, and now he stalks her and won’t leave her alone. There’s more to it, but you’ll figure that out in the book, so I won’t get into that part, but I loved having it in there. Boundaries are important!
There are also some fun cameos from other members of the Wright family and some friends we met in the past books in the series. I hate to admit this, but you could read this as a stand-alone novel if you wanted to. I have no idea why you’d want to, though. You should always read more books!
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, which I received from JustRead Publicity Tours. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review, nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.
I have been eyeing this author's books for a while, and I finally took the plunge. I am so happy that I did. This book had a little bit of everything in it that I love about a mystery from the intrigue, interesting characters, scenery and an inspirational message as well.
Brooklynn Wright is a photographer who wants the perfect shot. She needs to get the winning shot. She gets a little more than she bargained for when she witnesses what appears to be a smuggling operation while obtaining her perfect shot.
Billionaire Forbes Ballentine (n/k/a Ford Baker) is determined to find out who killed his family 20 years ago and hopefully prove that his father was not a dirty businessman. His plans do not include any house guests, but when he sees Brooklyn running for her life, he rescues her from the would be killers. Brooklyn has to seek refuge in the Ballentine mansion to save her life, but she was not happy about the circumstances.
This was a top notch mystery. I love a good cold case mystery, and this one was cold and so very tragic. As I learned more about the circumstances of the murder of Forbes' family, I was chilled and saddened. He was a brooding man, but as I got to know him better, I more fully understood his personality and need to be so private about his life. The Ballentine mansion was incredible with hiding places, secret passages, and so many rooms that you would easily get lost in this mansion.
Forbes was a glass half empty kind of guy, and Brooklyn was a glass half full kind of lady. Somehow along the way, they learn from each other.
Brooklyn's family was very interesting as you learn more about them.
There was plenty of action and some surprises along the way, which made this book a pleasure to read and savor. Readers of inspirational romantic suspense will love this book.
Thank you to JustRead Publications for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
If I had never read a book by Robin Patchen, the first line would have snagged me. The heroine of the story is finally going to get a perfect shot. I found myself trying to guess whether she was hunting, trying to eliminate an enemy, seeking a great picture, going for a hole in one on the golf course, or practicing to become a nurse. Since I have read other books by the author, I was still guessing as I continued to the next paragraph. I could sense the excitement of the shot radiating off of Brooklynn, but her excitement was short-lived when she started to leave and discovered the danger that lurked nearby. With no time to process what was happening, she soon finds herself sneaking through a hidden cave with what she can only hope is an unknown rescuer and hiding in a secret space in an old mansion best known as the former home of a family that was murdered there years earlier. The mansion sat on a hillside overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Brooklynn was intrigued by all of the secret staircases, closets, passageways, and other hiding places inside the mansion. I would have been as well. I am uncertain what would have been the most appealing aspect of the mansion to me, whether all the secret places or the view and nearness of the ocean. The unknown rescuer introduced himself as a handyman who had been sent by the owner to fix up the mansion. I totally enjoyed the action and constant suspense. The old mansion held its fair share of secrets which had little to do with the hiding places. Brooklynn seemed to be a delightful young lady with a positive, upbeat attitude regardless of the circumstances. Her rescuer was almost the opposite which made for some interesting twists in the story. I received an advance copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
I really want to take a visit to Maine now. I have wanted to for a while, especially wanting to see the coastline and lighthouses, but if I could stay in a gothic type of mansion built long ago with many secret passageways and secrets to explore, how fun. I of course would not want killers hot on my trail, I could live without that.
This Wright novel is about Brooklyn Wright. She was just out trying to get the best photograph she has ever taken when unbeknownst to her, she stumbles upon some smugglers. Deciding to run away she runs right into the arms of reclusive billionaire, Forbes Ballantine who goes by his new name Ford to protect his identity and life from the murderers who killed his parents and sister many years ago.
Forbes has come back to solve the murder case that has haunted him his whole life. He wants to put the murderers in prison and bring justice for his family. He just wasn't planning on having to rescue and keep Brooklyn safe, nor keeping his secrets hidden from her.
This story mostly takes place in a gothic like mansion on the shores of Maine. If you like a grumpy guy and a much happier, though terrified gal romance, this is a fun and suspenseful one full of mystery and secrets.
Just for fun, I really liked the title and how it could mean many things in this story.
I was provided a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review, and all views and opinions are my own.
Capturing You The Wright Heroes of Maine #6 By Robin Patchen
This book is definitely a grumpy/sunshine romantic suspense that will keep you guessing at who is guilty of what.
Forbes Ballentine's been hiding most of his life, but now he's seeking answers. Brooklynn Wright was seeking the photograph of a lifetime, but instead, she's running for her life. They will need to work together to discover the truth if they want to survive. But with years of deception between them and the answers they seek, the killers just may get away with murder again.
The deeper Forbes and Brooklyn dig, the more they unearth that Brooklyn's trusting personality won't be able to deny. Someone in Shadow Cove, someone she knows, is a murderer, and they are targeting her. The perfect photograph may cost her her life if they don't discover who committed murder all those years ago.
I have to be honest, there were some twists I didn't see coming. Small town living in Shadow Cove is not high on my list of places in books I'd like to live. My visits will be strictly via the printed page - it seems safer and spider-free. Yeah, I can't like spiders. But overall, this was an edge-of-your-seat read, especially the climax.
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book, with no expectations other than to provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.
This is an epic adventure filled with suspense, twists and faith. The characters are good and add realism to the story. I loved following Brooklynn as she tries to get the perfect photo. She wants to capture an image that will win her the contest. What she didn’t expect was to see through the lens of her camera a crime taking place. Now she needs to keep one step ahead of the criminals in order to survive.
Forbes is a complex character with the past still lingering in his thoughts. He won’t rest till he gets answers to the senseless murder of his family. As he tries to uncover secrets he runs into Brooklynn. The excitement builds as they join together to stay one step ahead of danger. I like that trust slowly builds between them and faith plays a strong part in the story.
If you are looking for non-stop action, this book is for you. Be sure to read the other books in the series so you can follow along and get to know each character that brings this series to the top of the suspense charts. The setting of this book is breathtaking and adds depth to the story. Fractured emotions are shared as Brooklynn and Forbes grow closer. Don’t miss this story of suspense, a hint of romance and a sprinkle of faith that will have readers on the edge of their seat.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
Capturing You by Robin Patchen is a Christian Romantic Suspense novel. Any time I pick up a book by Robin Patchen, I know I am going to enjoy the story and get caught up in the suspense. Capturing You lived up to my expectations.
The Wright Heroes of Maine Book 6 focuses on Brooklyn Wright and billionaire Forbes Ballantine. As a photographer finds herself seeking the perfect shot to win a photography contest. Meanwhile, Forbes Ballantine returns to Shadow Cove to discover the truth about the deaths of his parents and sister many years ago. When he rescues her from dangerous individuals, the pair find them trying to stay safe while also searching for answers.
The author fills the pages of those books with emotions, twists, turns, and suspense that keeps you reading. Filled with secrets, you have to keep reading to discover how the story will end. I loved how the author reveals bits and pieces of Forbes’ past and demonstrates how a grandmother’s love for her grandson knows no limits. She builds a story filled with faith, family, suspense and more that I loved reading.
So if you want a Christian Romantic Suspense novel, check out Capturing You by Robin Patchen. I believe it is worth reading.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
She takes a photo to hopefully win a prize for her gallery, not knowing that it will change her life and possibly end it! Brooklyn was a complex character to me. I loved her optimism and willingness to continue the fight to help Forbes/Ford find the murderers of his family. She wasn't going to stop when there was discouragement or when Forbes/Ford told her to stop "snooping". I also liked how she added a lot to the investigation - she had good ideas! However, she was a little too "cheerful and naive" at times too, especially when "Leo" was concerned. One instance especially (in her apartment) needed to be dealt with firmly with the authorities because it was creepy, but she didn't really do anything about it. Forbes/Ford developed a lot as a character throughout the story. I liked him and understood most of his moods. He wasn't used to leaning on anyone and Brooklyn was a lot to handle for him! I think they were perfect for each other though! He was so used to going solo and she helped him see he could lean on someone. His experience of seeing his parents murdered would have affected him deeply. That would affect your entire life! I have only read a few books in this series but I'm trying to catch up! I love this family!
This is another entertaining inspirational romantic suspense from Patchen. While the suspense is periodic, there is always the threat of it hanging in the air. The plot is a bit complex with the hero, Forbes, trying to solve the decades old murder of his parents. His character was rather elusive as he is trying to keep people from knowing who he really is. He is quiet about himself until quite a ways into the novel. Brooklyn sort of stumbles into the suspense by being in the wrong place at the right time. She is a well presented and delightful character. She and Forbes spend a great deal of time together and much of the narrative consists of their thoughts on solving the mystery and increasingly on their relationship as a romance develops.
The suspenseful end to the novel happens quickly with a surprise twist or two near the end. This is a good novel for readers who like more character thought than action moving the plot forward. It is part of a series yet reads well on its own. Each novel in the series features a different family member. While some of them are mentioned in this novel, knowing their characters is not essential to appreciating this one.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book through Celebrate Lit. My comments are an independent and honest review.
What is there not to love about this book? It has mystery, romance, suspense, and a creepy old mansion waiting to reveal its secrets.
Forbes is living a secret life in Shadow Cove as he seeks to find answers to the questions surrounding the death of his family. He hadn’t counted on having to protect Brooklynn from local smugglers on the beach. Now he has an unwanted guest who may not want to stay. But can he let her go?
Brooklynn was just taking photographs hoping to have the perfect one to enter into a local contest. To win would be a big step in her career. She hadn’t counted on getting a picture of something that could put her life in danger. She hadn’t planned to practically be kidnapped by the handsome man who saved her.
I love how the relationship between them grows, sometimes reluctantly as they are forced to stay together in his family’s old mansion. The tension and pace of this book is perfect and aside from a story that grips you from the very beginning there are also surprises you might not have been expecting that keep you up long into the night to see what’s coming next.
I love everything about this book and I highly recommend it.
Brooklyn Wright has seen something she wasn’t supposed to when she was trying to capture the perfect ocean landscape to enter it into a prestigious photo contest. Now her life is in peril and it is only that she wasn’t found by the villains because Ford Baker seemingly appears out of nowhere to hide her. Nothing seems as it is and Brooklyn will have to decide whether she can trust Ford or not.
With a decades old murder to solve, Ford and Brooklyn must work together to discover who is responsible for the demise of Ford’s family. Brooklyn’s curiosity gets her into several situations where Ford has to help, but her nosiness also helps Ford with his investigation. There are plot twists, red herrings, and a house with more secret passages than you can imagine, you’ll enjoy this sixth book in the Wright Heroes of Maine series. You can read this as a standalone since the story is not dependent upon the previous stories.

I received this complimentary copy of the book from the publisher and Celebrate Lit. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Robin Patchen has done it again! Capturing You has it all with it’s edge of your seat suspense, a tender, clean romance, and a powerful message of faith woven naturally into the story. Robin is one of my favorite authors because her characters feel so authentic, like people you might meet right in your own neighborhood. The dialogue flows effortlessly, the banter often made me smile, and the emotional moments landed perfectly.
Brooklynn is a heroine you can truly cheer for — courageous, hopeful, and resilient — while Forbes is the brooding, complex protector readers like me can’t help but love. Their journey, shaped by past wounds and growing trust, felt raw, authentic, and deeply moving.
The twists kept me breathless, the romance warmed my heart, and the message of grace left me inspired. Robin has an extraordinary gift for crafting stories that thrill and uplift at the same time.
If you love fast-paced suspense with real characters, clean romance, and a beautiful faith message, Capturing You is a must-read. I’m already counting the days until Robin’s next book!
