Nowhere to Hide

Rate this book
When Anne Remington's weekly calls to her sister go unanswered, she knows something is terribly wrong. Celia, a chef for a ruthless Las Vegas mob boss, has vanished, and Anne fears the worst. Desperate, she heads to Helena, Montana -- their agreed-upon safe haven if either ever needed help. But Celia isn’t there.

While searching for clues, Anne takes a job as a cook at a local bar, the same one she and Celia visited on a long-ago vacation. She quickly befriends the bar's owner, Hiram, who becomes a father figure, and Noah, a rugged Blackhawk Security operative, whose presence stirs unexpected sparks.

But when the mob boss's son arrives in Helena, hunting for Anne, her worst fears take shape -- Celia may be dead. The danger escalates when a hitman shows up, also tracking Anne down. With her life now in jeopardy, Anne must decide if she’s willing to risk everything to uncover the truth.

Nowhere to Hide by Margaret Watson
Blackhawk Security #11

What would you do if your sibling suddenly disappeared, and you feared they might be dead? Anne is NOT willing to let it go…she needs to know…so sets off to find out exactly where Celia is…no matter what.

What I liked:
* Anne Remington: loving sister, chef, difficult childhood, protective, caring, creative, strong, resilient, and rather attracted to Noah
* Noah Brewster: ex-SEAL, ex-FBI, works for Blackhawk Security, good friend, protective, strong, knows Anne is the woman for him
* Celia Remington: loving sister, chef, survivor, trying to stay under the radar after nearly killed, intriguing and will be in the next book
* Hiram Blake: owner of The Trailhead, in need of a cook, ex-SEAL, protective, caring, strong, wise, might be interested in Mary who runs the homeless shelter
* Nick Doyle: conflicted, difficult backstory, doesn’t want to follow his father in the gangster lifestyle, rather taken with Celia, ready to leave but wants to survive if he does
* The plot, pacing, setting, and writing
* That it was easy to dislike the bad guys and want them dealt with
* The relationships and how strong they were between Celia and Ann, Hiram and Noah, and the way the four grew stronger in trust and friendship through the book
* That I could see Anne and Noah being happy together
* Knowing that Celia’s story is coming up next

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Thinking about what the mind of a cold-blooded killer might be like – never could quite grasp that
* Knowing that Bobby Doyle is still alive at the end of this book

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely

Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.

A thrilling and romantic addition to this must-read series! Sisters Anne and Celia Remington had only been able to count on each other. They both trained at CIA (no, not that CIA) and are pursuing their careers as chefs. Celia had recently taken a job working for a Las Vegas mob boss hoping to get intel about his illegal activities. When Anne is unable to reach Celia, and is told that she no longer works there, she is beyond concerned. They had always said if something went wrong that they would go to Helena, Montana where they once vacationed. What Anne does find, besides a job as cook at The Trailhead restaurant, is a caring and somewhat cranky owner, Hiram, a retired SEAL and his way too attractive friend, Noah. Noah is also a retired SEAL who now works for Blackhawk Security. She fears that her sister has been murdered, but will she ever find out for sure? The attraction between Anne and Noah soon flares out of control, but when Las Vegas comes to Helena, will Noah be able to keep her safe? Twists abound in part one of this three-part addition to the original series, but the reader is not left hanging, only eagerly awaiting the next book, No Way Out. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

4+ Stars ⭐⭐⭐🌟 NOWHERE TO HIDE begins with a scene that will leave you on the edge of your seat. From there, you’ll be taken on a ride that will intrigue you, often captivate you, and leave you with a sense that one story has ended but another is just beginning. Anne and Celia have been each other’s touchstones for their whole lives. When Celia goes missing, Anne begins searching. It’s where Anne goes and who she meets there that is the main focus of this story. Her interactions with Hiram and Noah and how their relationships evolve are enough to keep your interest. But add in the suspense of a potential mob threat, the heartache of a missing, possibly dead, sister, and the expected yet still somewhat surprising twist, and you have a tale that you will find hard to put down. The emotions are strong in this story with its appealing characters and engaging narrative. And even though by the end Anne and Noah’s story has been told, there’s more to tell, so stay tuned because you will want to know what’s to come.

Celia and Anne are sisters working as chefs and saving money to open their own restaurant. Celia goes undercover for the Nevada gaming commission to a gangsters home to try and find evidence against him. Only she is found out, taken to the desert and shot. When Anne can't reach her sister, she leaves Chicago and goes to Helena as that is where they said they would meet if anything went wrong. There Anne finds a job as the chef at the Trailhead where Hiram is the owner and a retired Seal. He knows Anne isn't telling him all but offers to help anyway. Noah helps out at the bar when not working at Blackhawk Security. Anne and Noah are drawn to each other, but she is struggling to trust anyone with info about her sister. When her sister suddenly appears, they must find a way to keep Celia safe. Hard to do with the gangsters son shows up followed by a hitman. Plenty of romantic suspense and clues as to whose story comes next in the series.

Going for a ride with hitmen into the dessert was not good and Ceclia Remington spent the entire time trying to think of what she could do to save herself. Meanwhile when her sister Jo couldn't reach her, she decided to keep an old promise they made to each other that if something happened, they would meet in Helena so off Jo goes and she gets a job there waiting to hear from her sister. The suspense builds, is she alive and is she safe from the hitmen and it builds to a climatic end, really good read

Such a good story with great characters and non-stop action. The book grabs you from the first sentence and just doesn’t let go. I read long into the night until I couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer. The characters are well-written, the romance nicely developed, and the suspense is non-stop. It’s a great book. I can’t wait for the next one. I received a complimentary copy of this book. This is my honest opinion.

Annie's sister is missing. She was working as a chef for a mobster and gathering information for the Tobacco Authority. Now she is gone. Annie goes to the small town where they both went on a holiday as children hoping Celia will turn up. There she meets gorgeous Noah, an ex-SEAL. Then they find out that Celia has been killed. OMG this book was amazing.
