I was so excited to get the chance to read an ARC for this book, especially after reading the first book in the series. While this had roughly the same themes (trigger warnings), I could not put this book down! I wasn’t even entirely into the sexual themes but they were so well written, I was hooked! Definitely recommend for the Dark Romance/Dark Romantasy readers out there!

Adrianna, sweet and naive makes a deal with the devil, and has one rule. Do not fall for him.
Enzo is mean and malicious and let me tell you.... you WILL fall for a wicked, imaginery character and not know what hit you.
This book is DARK.
Like, rolling black outs DARK, so please seek out the trigger warnings, but the way these two need each other and the surprising end, had me hooked. Can't wait to see what C.J. Holmes has in store next.

I've finished reading my ARC copy of 'A deal in Darkness' written by C. J. Holmes.
This is a dark and spicy paranormal romance.
I had a lot of feelings and thoughts about this story, but the main thing now is, that I didn't want it to end.
This is a story that captures you. It had it's sweet and soft parts, it has it's dangerous parts and it has it's pitch black parts. The question is which part you will enjoy the most!! Cause I really don't know 😱

This story is about Enzo and Adriana. Enzo is literally hell and Adriana is the most purest thing he has ever seen. And even more!
Enzo is devious and smart and he gets what he wants. He wanted a deal with Adriana and that's what he got. It's a bargain Adriana will not escape from and she will have to decide if that's what she wants.
"There are more f*cking things in heaven and hell than are dreamt on in your f*cking feeble minds? Sounds about f*cking right."
This story is about obsession and passion more than it's about love. It's about lust and about trust, about pushing your limits. It's about the bond forced between a dominant and a submissive and what that means for both. It's about power and knowing when power is useless and about giving yourself over to something different and new.
The background story is unique and impressive and the underlying themes make it even more interesting!
I can only say that I loved this story and I hope everyone will read it, but its definitely worth it. Five stars!!

Woah. If you're looking to have your socks blown off from absolutely insane amounts of spice- look no further. The MMC is probably the darkest shade of grey you can possibly get. Did I mention the insane amount of spice? There are also quite a bit of plot twists that leave you like whaaaaaaaaaaat in complete shock. It's def not anything you could possibly see coming. CJ has done it again- having such a keen way of making you swoon over something so depraved.

I would start by saying check your trigger warnings! I ate this book up in a day, I couldn’t put it down!
Enzo & Adi were beautiful. I loved watching how their relationship grew. But also they were the true testament of why communication is so important in relationships!
Enzo is devil-delish! He was such a strong & stubborn MMC. Watching Adi peel his layers back was Devine. Adi’s sassiness and brattiness was everything Enzo needed. They really balanced each other out.
The descriptions in this book: chefs kiss. I literally felt like I was physically there standing in front of the character and in their worlds. The momentum in this book was the right amount, and the spice level. Again absolutely delicious!
And Lucifer being Lucifer in the end, so good!

ARC Review: This is an epic dom/sub (brat tamer) plot line. Much like Debt of Darkness our MMC is fully infatuated with the FMC (Adriana)
After making a deal with a demon 😈 Adriana is swiftly wrapped up with Enzo with no way out. While Enzo works to protect her (and break her) she discovers the world is a lot darker than she imagined and that discover herself, sex, and pleasing Daddy comes with a lot of challenges but also reward.
Outside of the bedroom this book offers some epic plot twists to keep the readers guessing on not only what Enzo is going to do to Adriana but also what he will do to protect her from his enemies!
Really great read for those who like BDSM but want to explore the world of fantasy!

How did I like something like this so much!?! I don't know how a morally black MMC, Enzo, who is one of the Princes of Hell could be the most obsessive, feral, possesive, protective, endearing, frustrating, self absorbed, daddy figure-like, badass demon asshole ever and I will still somehow like him?!
This story had more smut than plot, but by the time the plot hits, I was fully hooked and completely curious how they were going to all survive dealing with the King of Hell, Lucifer!
The romance in this was truly wonderful because it went from a deal with the devil, in order for Adrianna, our FMC to get what she wants, she starts chipping away at Enzo's hard rough exterior and he becomes putty in her hands. He wants to dominate her and make her submit, but in reality, she's got him wrapped around her bratty little fingers.
If you're looking for a super spicy, hot 🔥, straight-up good time but make it dark, then this is perfect for you!

Cj, oh wow this book is amazing good, it's written beautifully 😍 there is demons and angels in this book, the plot is there along with the storyline, the characters is was loving, caring towards one another ❤️, and the spice between the main characters is off the charts 🥵🥵🥵.. I will tell you that my emotions were all over cause I definitely fell in love with the main characters ❤️ I want that kind of love in a way 😂 but I know it's not real real... this book deserves five stars and, as always, read your trigger warnings ⚠️ 😉 🥵 💋 😏

The second dark PNR book in the Dark and Devilish series, A Deal in Darkness is a fun and steamy story that focuses on the Faustian-like deal between the young and naive Adriana and her cunning, sexy devil, Enzo, who steals not her soul but first her body and then her heart. Any lover of dark romance should appreciate the interesting and sometimes surprising characters, plot points, and tropes that C.J. Holmes has included here. I believe that A Deal in Darkness is the author's best work to date, and I can't wait to see where she takes this series next.

Wow. This book was amazing. I’m going to go into the author’s back log and find more of her books to read. I stumbled across this book thanks to social media algorithm and my love for paranormal romance books. I read it was a “fast paced dark paranormal romance book with a lot of spice”. And it is those things. But it’s so much more. I don’t think I have been as captivated and drawn into a book as much as this one in a long time. Adriana, our FMC strikes a bargain with a demon at the beginning of the story and becomes his in exchange for something she wants. She’s naive and unsure of herself and relatable and has so much growth during the book. Enzo, our MMC, is a devilish demon dom through and through and has no remorse about putting Adi in her place or asserting his dominance and control. But he also has a soft side, only for her. He wants to empower her while also keeping her submissive, and forces her to discover things about herself she doesn’t know. This book was INCREDIBLE. I read the ebook and plan to get a physical copy as a trophy, which I rarely do.
There are so many plot twists and the plot is fast paced. I got completely attached to each character and loved my passenger seat for their growth. The spice was a solid 4.5 peppers, which is insanely rare in PNR books and my dark romance loving heart was taken aback by how spicy it was, in all the best ways. The banter was flawlessly written and at times so funny. Enzo learning about emotions, like happiness, that a demon isn’t familiar with, it was just so hilariously written. The supporting characters were excellent too. Lucifer stole the show in a latter chapter and I also really enjoyed what Elgios brought to the book. I really need an epilogue to this book more than I ever have in my life.
This is a six star read. The triggers are real there’s a lot of dom sub, dub con, gore, unaliving, spanking, double penetration (by same MC it’s not a why choose situation, hmmm delicious right like don’t you want to know more?). But there’s also so much plot and romance and the development of the main characters and their relationship dynamic was everything I could have wanted. Huge fan. Highly recommend. I annotated more quotes in this book than I ever have in my entire life but here’s a few spoiler free sneakies:
I hate that even though I want to hate him and everything he does, I don't. He's too damn attractive. Too damn intriguing. Too f****ng funny. He makes me feel things that no one else has even come close to making me feel.
Usually, I wouldn't give a shit but yet again I'm feeling something I don't like. It's empathy and it's a damned inconvenience.
It’s a darker story, but it’s going to sell. Sex always does, and this book is packed with it. (LITERALLY A CHARACTER DESCRIBING THIS EXACT BOOK I FEEL LIKE)
If this is obsession then I willingly surrender to it.
I’m bound, but I’m free. I’m held down, but he’s letting me fly. I have no control, and he’s in command.
“I couldn’t be… happier?” He tilts his head and watches me. “I think that is the emotion. It is unfamiliar and disgustingly nice. Warm. Soft. Sickening really. [SPOILER SO REMOVING A PART] (It) makes me want to bathe the planes of Hell in blood in your name and christen the hallowed halls of every fucking temple with the souls of the damned.”
🤩 If you want to be on the edge of your seat, gasp, laugh out loud, and improve your own sex life I definitely think you need to read this book! I loved it and it’ll stay with me for a long time. I would happily crawl to Enzo and call him Daddy.

This is a very dark romance (definitely check the trigger warning!)
This is Ghost Pepper level spicy...
Adriana, well... She is incredibly smart but she's finishing up college and is not able to land a professional position... meets this handsome charismatic man on the beach who offers to help and then made a deal with the devil himself (pretty much).
Enzo is truly a prince of Hell with an obsession with Adriana. He wholly embodies that and you know what to expect from him. He delivers... from the absolutely filthy things he says to what he does with/to Adriana to claim her and force submission to the way that he will destroy everything and everyone in any world to protect her...
The push and pull of this imbalanced relationship between Adriana and Enzo... the acceptance and shift of perspective and feelings.
I love how Adriana finds herself balancing between fighting and also not making herself or him look awful to people/demons.
The pure adoration Enzo has for Adriana. When he mentions how he feels when he sees her read, ya'll... I don't think my heart will ever beat the same again.
I am learning that I can tolerate darkness and a lot of spice, but I need to feel like there's more story than spice. That is 100% a personal preference thing.
I did enjoy this book more than A Debt of Darkness (book 1 in the series but with different characters).
I felt like there was more plot and I did not need to force myself to finish. In fact, I did so quite willingly (aka obsessively) binge-reading until 1am.
So, I say all of that to say that while this book is 3 stars for ME. I DO understand how/why this is rated higher by others. I do think the book is pretty dang good.

I have a lot of thoughts on this book. Overall very enjoyable. The author described it as a mix between the L.O.R.D.S. Series and the Kingdom of the wicked trilogy and I can definately see that. I have yet to read the L.O.R.D.S. Series but I know it’s very smutty and this book is ABSOLUTELY that. In my opinion a smidge too much I prefer more of a balance but that’s just a personal preference. I will say though for a book that had so much smut it was very good so that definitely balanced it out for me. Some notes I had were that for me it was hard to understand what was happening in hell, it was just kind of hard to visualize certain creatures and some of the scenery. I also could’ve definitely used more plot in the first 10 chapters, I feel like there wasn’t as much background and world building as I usually like everything seemed to happen very quickly and I didn’t get as much about the characters before they met each other as I usually like. I also almost feel like so much happened & nothing happened? I can’t really explain it other than that 😂 A huge plus for me was that throughout the book Adriana struggles with something that I think we all really want out of this existence, a choice in a life that threatens to take all of ours away. Free will can be a beautiful but damned thing and Enzo, a demon from hell who has no experience nor want to be understanding and empathetic softens, only for her, to give her that choice she’s so incredible desperate for. He would truly burn it all down for her and we could all use someone like that in our lives🖤

By day, she is an Editor for a publishing house, but she must come whenever he calls, no exceptions.
He shows her he is a literal demon, takes her in ways she never contemplated, and gives her whatever she wants. But, if she hesitates, she pays a price. Think spanking and whipping.
While Adriana is undergoing an awakening in the bedroom, a storm in brewing in He) and on earth as a demon foe thought long dead is threatening to unbalance everything.
This book is thrilling, has deep world building, hot spice, and a fascinating plot. There were moments when I was struck mute by the quality of the writing and the twists and turns in it.
If you are looking for an unhinged, possessive, Daddy Dom boyfriend, this is it!
I will definitely be reading the next book in this series.

This was dark, I mean pitch black. I was not at all prepared for the darkness but I was here for every sentence. It was incredibly hot, sexy and fast paced. The plot kept me interested in the storyline. I’ve read nothing like this before and I am mad at myself for not trying before now. The spice was so hot and incredibly creative I couldn't get enough of it, so much so, I re-read several scenes. 🥵 Enzo and Adriana had stellar chemistry.
Adriana frustrated me just a little bit with her pushing back all the time, but, I respect her for not just rolling over and accepting and blindly obeying Enzo. I love when a FMC has her own mind and isn’t afraid to use it. ENZO!! I’ve never met an MMC like him and I don’t think I ever will. The mouth on this man had me dropping to my knees literally and wishing someone would speak to me like he did. I have a major praise kink. I devoured this book in a matter of hours and I’d highly recommend it to anyone wanting outside the box paranormal dark romance. You just might fall for the villain. ;)
Adriana frustrated me just a little bit with her pushing back all the time, but, I respect her for not just rolling over and accepting and blindly obeying Enzo. ARC Review
I absolutely loved this story! After experiencing Book 1, A Debt Of Darkness, I just knew the next installment was going to be amazing.
Enzo and Adi's relationship started off rocky, but their chemistry was off the charts—higher than I could have imagined! The twists and turns in the plot kept me on the edge of my seat; I didn’t expect much of what happened, but I’m so glad I got to read it.
I adored the first book and was thrilled to have the opportunity to ARC read this one as well. I’m definitely continuing this series because I want more of CJ Holmes’ writing. Her creative pull makes me want to live in her stories!
I can't wait for the next book, and this one isn’t even out yet! If you enjoy dark and spicy paranormal romance, this series is a must-read!

It is the first book I ever read that truly deals with the devil like it does in the book. In the beginning I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into but I push through it and I’m so happy I did.
The mother in the start got on my nerves and so did Adi, you getting cars with strangers making deal with them without asking questions and then getting mad when things don’t go your way! Huh how does that work????
The twist and turns that took place were 🤯 and I loved all of it!!!
This was a great book definitely 5stars
The fact their love was strong that they were able to….. (not gonna spoil) but that was everything mainly being what they both went through!!!
I would love to have a book after this to see where their story goes!! *wink wink*

ARC review. This book is spicy 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️. The plot of this book was so addicting. I didn’t want to put it down. Adriana is an FMC that is relatable and isn’t afraid to go head to head with a devil. There was smut in this book, but it didn’t take away from the plot. I promise you Enzo will become a book friend with a dirty mouth you will love. This one is for all my dark romance girls who love alpha bad boys. Touch her and die, and morally black mmc. This book releases 3/3/2024 add this one to your TBR. Happy reading

A lot goes on! And I mean a lot, between the actual plot and smut scenes!! If you are someone who does not like a lot of smut in their books, do not read this book. But if you are someone who loves smut and can not get enough of it like me, then this book is for you! Definitely check your TW first! But OMG, I could not get enough of everything! Enzo was everything I would think of a demon and more! I connected with Adriana so much, between her innocent and gullable self, to her trying to be better than just that and accepting what she likes and wants!! I just love how detailed she is with everything between the fights, the MCs thoughts to the smut scenes! I loved it. I can not wait to see what else this writer does!!

Enzo is a demon that Adriana inadvertently makes a deal with in order to get a job opportunity after graduating from Cambridge, but she didn't read the fine details in that deal. She gets a job, and he gets her.
This book is for the dark romance girlies. Enzo is morally black MMC who eeks towards dark shades of grey. Adriana is a young woman who easily succumbs to her desires and eventual love for the demon. He opens her world up to the perials of hell, and she gives him her light and love.
There is a litany of TW to check out before diving into this book. While I found some of it repetitive, it was highly enjoyable to read how far Enzo was willing to push Adriana beyond her limits and heap praise upon her. I really enjoyed the framework of the story and the use of foreshadowing. They both grow to compliment the other. As this was an ARC, there were grammatical errors that drew me out of the story, but overall, I'm glad I read it.

Absolutely devoured this book! This book is worth the wait! It is dark, depraved, and delicious!! This book lulls you into its darkness and has you guessing on what's going to happen and what Enzo is going to do next. Adriana may seem innocent but her resilience and defiance is what makes her character! The spice I mean over the top spice have your mouth on the floor reading and not wanting to put the book down!! C.J Holmes has a way of captivating you and making you want more!

Where do I even begin?!?! I was literally choking and Idek what to say in regards to this book🫠🫠!! Adriana and Enzo were just made in heaven and hell for each other.. Enzo was a dom daddy and the way he treated Adriana with passion and obsession and also cared for her and looked after her😘😘😘! He was whipped the moment she stepped foot in his house!! I loved everything about this book and I love Enzo more!!

This books is one that I was not sure at first. I like romance, i like dark romance, i even can say so far i have not found a book that is too far for my reading comforter. This was one i thought may change that fact... but the writing in this book is so good I could not stop reading. The story is great and spicy! And the twist to not have any spoilers i will say OMG.

I am spoiled and had this as an ARC. I give no spoilers!! This book was fucking great. Loved the whole vibe, the plot was fantastic. The spice was spicing. Enzo 🥵🥵🥵 Adriana was a little spitfire. I have a habit of devouring her books in one sitting. Another great book written by this author, looking forward to what’s next from her.

Okay so the spice was extra spicy!🌶️🥵 I loved the darkness and smut. Now, It does say it is fast paced but it was more fast than expected. I still enjoyed the book!
