Nix Monroe has had it with playing things safe.

Where exactly has that gotten him anyway? In the bed of three of the Demons of Foxglove Grove, in over his head. Since he arrived at the prestigious university, nothing has gone his way, and nothing has been what it seemed. Now that he's finally discovered the truth behind what his cousin was up to, he's reevaluating his next moves. Starting with what to do with the Demons and all of the lies and secrecy between them.

Lake is still as desperate as ever for the crown, but does that desperation now rival the one he feels toward Nix?

West has positioned himself as a friend and confidant, but can Nix really allow himself to trust in that, or is this another carefully constructed ruse put on by the Demon to keep him in line?

Yejun is supposedly remorseful, but Nix isn't sure he can forgive, especially when a part of him still seeks vengeance for his cousin and the part the Demon played in her demise.

One thing is clear: Night of the Nightshade heralds the start of either the end or beginning for all of them. After giving the Order what they want isn't enough to stop the threats, will Nix band with the Demons and wrestle for control over Club Essential, or will he seize the first real chance he gets at escape with both hands and flee?

Does he really have a choice?

Did he ever?

Trigger Warnings: Saint is the third book in a four-book series and cannot be read on its own. This is a Dark MM Sci-Fi Enemies to Lovers Why Choose Bully Romance, and as such, there are strong themes of bullying, control, and manipulation, as well as a main character who is shared between three other men. Please note, there is no cheating and a guaranteed HEA at the end of the series.

4.5 stars.

This is my final read of the year, and it was phenomenal. While this third book took a different direction than I anticipated, it proved to be just as enjoyable as the first two in the series.

In this installment, Nix demonstrates remarkable growth, becoming more confident and honest about his feelings. I particularly appreciated how he categorized the demons, showcasing the distinct love he has for each one. It was empowering to witness Nix take command of the relationship; he truly deserves to stand alongside the demons as their equal. In this book, he truly shines.

Lake continues to embody the cold, possessive type, but this time, he genuinely learns from his mistakes and starts treating Nix the way he deserves. It was refreshing to see him grapple with his feelings much more than in the earlier books.

West continually surprised me since book two. I never expected him to emerge as the sweetest demon, but he turned out to be the gentlest one, establishing the healthiest relationship with Nix. I love that Nix feels safe and secure with him.

Yejun is my favorite, and I firmly believe this book could have explored his and Nix's journey toward healing in more depth after the events of book two. We need more of Yejun and their dynamic. I understand that Nix is still processing the trauma Yejun caused, but that’s precisely why I wanted to see more focus on Yejun in this book.

I did appreciate the deeper insight into Yejun's family and his sincere remorse for his actions, though I also believe that remorse doesn't excuse them. I'm optimistic that when the final book releases, Yejun will take center stage since he is the only demon who hasn't mated with Nix, and their unresolved issues demand attention.

The plot of this series is exhilarating. Just when you think you've figured it all out, the author throws in unexpected twists that keep you on your toes. I hold immense admiration for this author—this series has become one of my all-time favorites. It's surprising, considering I'm not typically drawn to dark romance, but her writing grips me so tightly that I devour her books in a single day.

I eagerly anticipate the final book in this series.

Still 100% think Beck is the bad dude using minions. There's too much pointing at him now. Is he working with someone else too? I think so but I can't decide who. I'll be extremely surprised if Beck has zero involvement...

Super excited to see how this resolves though. Still agree with my previous thoughts, still adore West 😍

*********

I swear these books make me so tense 😂 I need to know everything right now please and thank you!

I don't trust Beck at all, I immediately distrusted him as soon as he was introduced in the story. I still think he's behind everything and I honestly can't wait to see how it all plays out.

Nix taking control of the relationship dynamics between the four of them was brilliant. The way he spoke to Hendrix and Demitrious was hilarious 😂 even though I'm sure something more will come of it.

I do like that Nix didn't forgive Yejun immediately and that there's still some lingering uncertainty there. I swear the paperwork is going to come back and bite them....

West is still my favourite Demon. The way he is with Nix makes Lake and Yejun look like absolute amateurs which I find very entertaining!!

Very excited for the final book and need to see Nix getting everything he deserves and more.

Saint is book 3 of 4 in the Demons of Foxglove Grove series. The series is a dark why choose read with mystery, political intrigue, and 3 hot love interests with big 🍆 s.
Nix wanted to belong with them. To them. He wanted Lake, the stoic, overbearing next in line for the throne. And West, the flirty genius with a penchant for eliciting pleasurable pain in the bedroom. And Yejun. Nix still wanted Yejun. Flaws and scary tendencies and all. He wanted quiet talks in the art room and sensual touches as he was posed over a platform. He wanted connection.

This series reminds me of a little of a long-running dramatic TV show: by now I'm not entirely sure what's happening, I've lost track of all the little nuances and given up trying to figure out who is guilty of what and I'm just enjoying the ride. Book 3 picks up directly after Book 2, with Nix still trying to figure out what happened to his cousin Branwen after she became involved with his Demons. Book 2 focused quite a bit on his relationship with West, and in Book 3 we pivot back to Lake and Yejun. West will always be my favourite though, I love the way he stepped up for Nix in Book 2 and (avoiding spoilers here) I LOVE the way Nixie rewarded him for it. Nix comes into his own in this book and it was very fun to read. Can't wait for Book 4 and seeing what's next for these 4 🥰.

I love this series so much, this book is possibly my favorite. The characters have shown so much growth and I'm happy to read as they grow, I'm honestly really excited for the next book, a solid 8.5/10

Even after 3 books a sex club being a ruling entity on a Planet is still silly, fun silly, though.

Nix and Lake FINALLY do it. Lol. AND even crazier it wasn’t a let down after all the build up. It was VERY hot.

More betrayals are revealed. I’m think Beck is ott suspicious. I’ve not trusted him since book 1. He’s not the one who has betrayed anyone YET. But I think he’s the mastermind, too bad I have to wait until August to read book 4!!! 😩😩😩😩 I sped through books 1 thru 3 thinking book 4 was out and it isn’t. Eeeek. The waiting is the hardest part.

Lake, Yejun, West and Nix adventure continues. This installment was great. You get a deeper knowledge and understanding of these characters and what motivates them. I could read about these 4 for several more books.
Nix is really coming into his own. He definitely knows how to handle his men! More to come in book 4 I’m sure!

I now remember why I didn’t like Juri. Lol. Still find Beck to be super suspicious. Incredibly glad I can read book four right away this time!

>>

God damn, these books are intense! My suspicions about who’s behind everything are still pretty strongly on the same person I’ve suspected since book one. The wait for the final book may just kill me. Sigh. I knew I should have just waited to read this one… I have no self control, I swear.

these four share approximately one brain cell, and it's the most entertaining read I had in a while. Had to drop a star because of some frequent typos, but other than that I have nothing bad to say. 30th of September can't come soon enough so I can read the last book!

Started this book late at night and told myself I’d read only a few chapters. Four hours later, I’m trying to find information about the next book in the series.
I love this book and the progression of the characters. As always, the last few chapters were emotional whirlwinds that had me sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for more.
For some reason I thought this was the last book in the series, so I was getting very worried towards the end of the book about the unresolved conflicts! I cannot wait to see what happens next in book four.

ugh the next book in this series needs to come out like right now! i just want to binge this whole story, but i also love these characters so much and don’t want to be done with them yet, so i’m glad i had to stop.

west continues to just absolutely amaze me. if you told me at the beginning of this series that he would probably be my favorite AND that he would be the absolute sweetest to nix, i probably wouldn’t believe you. i love their relationship so so so much. he defends nix so much, takes such good care of him, and their spicy scenes are so hot. he’s just the best.

yejun has also started to make such a good comeback in this book. i knew that he would instantly regret what happened with nix in the past book (which i don’t think was terrible to be honest, but i completely understand why nix is lowkey traumatized by it and slow to forgive him), and it’s very clear that he will never hurt nix like that again. seeing how guilty he feels and how much he misses nix is so sweet, and i’m glad they start to reconnect at the end of this book. the way nix still defends yejun from his mom despite being mad at yejun is so heartwarming. i hope we see yejun groveling some more in the next book.

i still love lake so much, but i hope we get even more time with him in the next book. i still feel like he’s the demon that we know the least and that nix knows the least. i’m so glad that we finally got the first time between him and nix, and boy was it great. i can’t wait to get even more spicy scenes between the two of them. seeing him realize and act on his love for nix is so sweet, and his possessiveness and protectiveness is so hot. i love the way they’re planning their future together, and it was so great to see him open up when they were in the bath together after their first time. i can’t remember if this was in this book or not, but i also thought it was so cute when they watched the movie together in bed.

i also loved the plot in this book yet again. i feel like the twist reveal wasn’t that surprising yet again, but i still loved it. it wasn’t something i for sure saw coming, but something that i was a little suspicious of. there were some parts of that reveal that did completely shock me though. the very very end of the book definitely shocked me, and i can’t wait to read the next book to see the repercussions of that and wrap up this mystery.

it was also so fun to get some more details on club essential and the initiation process. we finally got to actually go to one of the club essential events that has been teased for the whole series, so that was fun. it was also cool to interact with two essential members that we’ve heard so much about finally, and watching nix stand up to them and the demons defend him was soooo hot. the way nix stands up for himself in general in this book was very admirable, even if i didn’t always love the way he did it lol.

overall, i have really loved this series so far. i can’t wait to wrap it up in the final book. i’m so jealous of nix! god i wish i could live his life with the three demons.

So good!

I love Nix and his demons. They're all so freaking hot together. It's awesome to see Nix come into his own power. This book is dark and twisty. I've been going back and forth in my head about who I've decided the bad guy is. It's driving me crazy! I love this series, though. It's very well written. I just want more. I can't wait for the next book!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I have Saint pre-ordered as well because I love this series, and I want to support this author so she can write more amazing books.

Book three dives in right where book two left off, with Nix still untangling the mystery of what happened to his cousin Branwen after her run-in with his Demons. I’ll admit, after how the last book ended, I was a little worried. I thought Nix might forgive Yejun way too soon, but thankfully, I was wrong. It was refreshing to see Nix really step into his own, becoming confident in both who he is and what he wants.

The story is packed with twists and turns, which kept me completely hooked. That said, I can’t help but think Yejun and the others are going to kick themselves over that “missing paperwork” situation when they went to file for Nix to officially become Lake’s mate. Seriously, how do you let something like that slip?

For some reason, I thought this was the finale of the series (spoiler: it’s not). Normally, I wait until a series is finished before diving in, but I don’t even mind. Chani Lynn Feener builds such immersive worlds that I’m always eager for more. Now I’ll just have to be patient while waiting for the next installment!

Read for a group challenge week 6. This is Beck right? The suspects are dwindling fast. Lake got off light. Yejun...still not sure. Poor West. The whole miscommunication feelings thing with Beck annoyed me. They're mated now. I did like that Nix is standing up for himself and the way he defended the guys. Just need him to have a run in with Yejun's mother. Dunno, starting to feel a bit dragged out.

Trust. That's the word for this book. Trust.
It's not freely given, not easy to attain, but its easy to lose it...

Nix has been through a lot in the past few months since he met the Demons, but we can't tell if it was all good or bad. Of course, our definitions of good and bad may differ, and I'm not gonna lie... just like Nix, I am on the Demons side.

Being their Fourth is not an easy task, especially when you don't know a lot of things still, but what I have noticed is that with each book and as time passes, they are getting better at communicating. For most people, it might look like this series has a lot of miscommunication, and it might be true, who knows, but I don't feel that's what this is about.

From the first book I've read from Chani, I knew that these books are not for everyone. They're spectacular, amazing, extraordinaire, but definitely not for everyone.

Her books are written in a way that's misleading. You get thrown off at every turn, and you really need to be in a certain headspace to truly get the twisted. I'm like that myself so... yeah, not that hard for me.

This is book 3, and the previous two books really need to be read beforehand since this is a series. I can't wait for book 4 so I can see how this story ends. I have my own theories, but as always, I think Chani will surprise me once again.

More delicious villains and more wicked games—exactly what I hoped for and have come to expect from this series. Soooo yummy.

I think this might be my favorite book of the series so far. We finally got some real plot progression with the Night of the Nightshade milestone (even if I did find it a bit underwhelming) and some solid, fast-paced action at the end. Side note: I knew that bad guy reveal was coming—I clocked that man as a Mr. Save A Hoe (and Nix clearly don’t wanna be saved) from the start. What I really appreciated in this book was that now that the groundwork has been laid in the first two, the story is flowing more naturally. There’s less of the back-and-forth Q&A that bogged down the first book, making for a smoother reading experience. That said… finding out the whole hacker thing was a sham and now we’re dealing with a poisoner? Yet another example of my ongoing concern-slash-annoyance with this series—there’s simply too much being shoved into the plot, and every time we think we’re making progress, another lie unravels and we’re back to square one. Granted, it’s happening less often now, but it’s still a pattern. Also, back in my review of book one, I mentioned that the sci-fi element of this book felt like an afterthought, mostly just an excuse for Lake to be in a royal line of succession and for sex to be socially normalized. However, to everyone’s great relief, I’ve identified a VERY important reason this just HAD to be sci-fi: being able to get it up so often and have sex a dozen times in a night definitely requires humanoids. Seriously, I stood up and saluted my Kindle after reading Nix and Lake finally getting together; I was so keyed up for that moment—erm, several, SEVERAL moments—and it absolutely did not disappoint.

But the real shining star of this book was honestly Nix. We finally got to see him fully accept that he didn’t know his cousin like he thought he did and that their relationship wasn’t what he thought it to be—which was really such a mindfuck—and also in the process take the Demons’s side and embrace them as his true purpose now. I also absolutely LOOOOVED getting to see him come into his own as their fourth, not as a passive plaything but as an active participant. He was more honest, more upfront, and showed that he truly belongs as their equal. It was highkey refreshing to see him go, “I’m stuck here… so, fuck it, I’ll play this game and see what I can get out of it.” And with that, he also ultimately embraced that he wants the Demons—flaws and all—and to be a part of their world, and stopped feeling bad about it, which like… YES FINALLY!!

The other characters also had some great moments of development. Lake’s feelings for Nix came out more clearly, and we got to see him treat Nix and their relationship with more care, genuinely apologizing and giving Nix more space. We really began to get some romance instead of just obsession and chemistry, which I absolutely ate up. West was exactly what Nix needed, providing so much security and levity, and I loved seeing him start to push back against his father. He was more willing to confront him, or at the very least care less about his shitty attitude, and I simply cannot wait for the day he gives his dad the same massive middle finger that Nix did. As for Yejun, there wasn’t as much progress made healing the rift between Nix and him as I expected, and much of the Big Stuff was saved for the very end. I’m torn between this being good or bad—good, because I think the slow, careful approach with lots of groveling and baby steps makes sense with how bad Yejun’s actions were, but bad because it leaves a lot of ground to cover with only one book left, and I hope the resolution doesn’t feel rushed. Overall, I love how Nix handled his relationships with all of the Demons individually based on their distinct needs, showing he understands and appreciates all of their differences.

I actually thought this was a trilogy when I started, and I’m finding myself SO glad I was wrong because I’m clawing at the bars of my enclosure waiting for the fourth and final book. Not gonna lie, though, I feel like it’s lowkey obvious who the hacker-oh-wait-now-poisoner is, and it’s the same person I suspected back in book one (cough, Beck, cough). But watch me be completely wrong and look REAL dumb. Either way, I cannot wait to see how all of the details play out.

i has been dying with excitement waiting for this book it was only for 3 days but it felt like forever. tbh the anticipation might not have been fully worth it but i did enjoy this book ❤️.

plot wise: shit really hit the fan yet again and it ended with another banger cliffhanger. the fact the beck apparently has a crush on west and yejun for reason makes him even more suspicious to me but i think that’s just my brain trying to make connections.

West: still a champ and mvp🫡 that numbing cream was so sweet it made me giggle.

Lake: slowly getting out of the doghouse and they finally did the deed and he was in such a good mood after like the only reason he had been so moody before was bc he hadn’t screwed nix??? 😭 i get why lake felt he needed assurance in their relationship but did he forgot how they got to this point or smth?? does he think the manipulation and pain just go poof 💨 or smth 🧍🏾‍♀️

Yejun: sweet poor yejun 😭 his turmoil in this book was well deserved but genuinely so painful to read i kept cringing and pulling away from the book. but his willingness to mend things in anyway he could 😉 was good to see. i’m happy they’re making up tho i very much miss yejun and nix interaction.

Nix: i felt so bad for him at some points in the story because he had to accept so much of their shitty treatment and manipulation and he definitely has some sort of stockholm syndrome (and trauma from the thing with Yejun) on one hand he is trying to make the best of his situation on the other hand that kinda shows how badly he’s been manipulated if that makes sense. but other than that he really became more empowered and confident in this book so good for him. the scene where he filmed yejun and lake had me screaming in shock but i can kinda understand why he needed that and wests bite to gain more ground in this relationship and i’m happy that he’s “reclaiming” his body and power in a sense.

overall: Nix has rlly found his place with them and i’m happy for him even tho it started with him just wanting to survive in a found situation. the whole thing with juri was so crazy but i’m not gonna lie yall he made some good points 🤷🏾‍♀️ but other than that still crazy. his last words are a clue he wasn’t the mastermind right? just another pawn he was killed when things didn’t work out? like Dew i think 🤔 anyways loved this story and i’m excited for the finale ‼️ i literally can’t wait.

bonus: didn’t know where to put this but this line:
“‘You’d be snuggling alone,’ Nix muttered before he could help it, freezing almost as soon as the words left his mouth”

this LINE ‼️ drove me crazy and almost killed. i froze and then proceeded to freak out for 10 minutes i was too scared to keep reading so i literally sat in my bed screaming till i got the courage. Nix what the hell 😭 that was insane my guy crazy actually he rlly ate him up a lil too hard but yeah that’s true.

rereadability: 8/10 (i am excited to reread as soon as it is deemed socially acceptable 🫣)

I swear that Chani has a tap straight into my brain or something. I recognize that these books are not perfect. A lot of the writing style is going to be based on preference because a lot of the events are going to be character progression, not plot. I'll get more into this later.

If you liked the previous books, skip my review, and just go read it. This isn't going to disappoint you. It's going to be exact what you are craving. The rest of this review is just going to be my opinion on plot vs character progression because I like to ramble.
If this is your first time reading one of Chani's books, I don't know what you're doing on the third book of this series however, maybe this'll give you some insight on where or not to grab the first book in this series.

I am firmly in the camp of character progression. I love character moments, character growth, relationship growth, and all of that jazz. I love events that have no purpose to the plot but serve to further the characters instead. For others, this might be a negative.
With any event in a book, there's usually an intent to it. What does this scene portray? What does this say about the characters? What does it mean for the plot of the book? If a scene doesn't have intent, then why would it be in the book at all?

You could argue sex scenes in the book are pointless in books but personally, I think that they're a way for the characters to bond. It's no different to me than the characters having a moment to connect emotionally.

While the plot is integral to the relationship between the boys, each plot point moves their relationship more than it does the actually story at hand. There are many scenes that seem to exist for the sake of throwing you off the trail of who's actually done it. However, they also have a secondary objective to push Nix further into the arms of the Demons.

For example, the scene in the first book with At this point and time, it isn't completely clear what that scene is for yet. Even if it isn't integral to the plot though, the final result was the Demon's coming out to protect Nix publicly.

Most of Chani's writing is like this. It doesn't mean the plot isn't important of course. It's just relationship first. This is all to say, this is entirely personal preference. So this review was absolutely useless.

However, if it sounds good to you, then again, what are you reading this for?

I needed some time to process this one. As always, I read this immediately and was eager to find out what was going to happen right after Martyr. And Saint didn’t disappoint. It was absolutely exquisite.

Nix is holding up really well and has formed a stronger-than-ever bond. It’s evolved intricately well between the demons. I finally feel like Nix isn’t being held as a placeholder, but is now one of the demons completely. He’s on equal footing with the rest of them for once. Although, he’s quite vulnerable with everything that’s happened. As one would be.

West is still my favorite. He understands Nix the most and was the first to treat him respectfully.

Lake has redeemed himself immensely. We finally received the moment I’ve been waiting for with Lake. It was hilariously erotic. Wouldn’t have thought they would go all out like that. Haha!

Yejun is trying. I still have mixed feelings about him. I’m understanding him more, but like Nix, I’m uncomfortable at the thought of what he did in the last book. June knows what he did was horrific. So hopefully he can improve their relationship in the next book. Even though I’m still appalled at what he did. I’m looking forward to what he does to make up for his mistakes.

As the story continues, I think I may have an idea who the real culprit is, but my real question is why. Because if it’s who I think it is, I’m confused as to their reasoning. Do they just want the crown? Power? West? Yejun? I have so manny unanswered questions.

I also have a theory that Iris poisoned West of her own volition. She wasn’t supposed to though, but did so because she was jealous of West. Which led to her death, because the killer rejected her for what she did. I highly suspect Iris was supposed to poison Lake at some point. At this point I’m also thinking any of Nix’s friends could be susceptible to the killer. They have too much power to influence innocent people. But I’m just guessing.

I’m eagerly awaiting the next book and whatever pandemonium ensues!

P.S. Thank you to the author. I’ve been having a difficult time these last couple of months, and this series has helped take my mind off things. As difficult as it’s been, I appreciate you. Reading is such a glorious escape, and I enjoy all of the series you have written so far. Thank you for giving my mind an escape.

Okay...getting my thoughts together...

The ending of this book was brilliant. I was thinking what, why him?? And then I was like ooooohhhhhhhh yes this is amazing!! Best cliff hanger of the series.

Now, the first 80 pages or so.........they were dragging. I mean DRAGGING. It was A LOT of inner monologue and info. I was just wanting someone to have a dang conversation already. And I did NOT expect Nix to be so jumpy around Yejun. I didn't think he was going to be that scared of him after what happened in book 2. It's not a bad thing but it did make their interactions become basically non existent for a hot min.

BUT...after that 80 page mark, it started to heat up and get much much better. The conversations started flowing, significant things started happening. It got VERY interesting.

So, the spice... I expected Yejun and Nix to have more resolution in this book so I thought they would have a bit of a make up sesh. But no. They didn't. The one big spice scene was Lake finally FINALLY getting to be with Nix. And honestly, it left something to be desired... I expected....I don't know. Something more concrete? It was a bit all over the place and summarized. I just thought Lake would handle his first time with Nix differently. I mean it wasn't bad. But after waiting two and a half books for this to happen, I expected more.

So my thoughts about Branwen being alive....I don't even know what I think about that anymore. I love the way things played out with Juri, how when he failed the poison took over. And maybe that's why Dew killed himself? and maybe why Branwen did too? So that they wouldn't have to endure that? But I'm not sure. Or maybe someone in that room poisoned Juri when he failed? Idk. I have no idea where this story is headed. But I know I love these characters and once the story picked up it was really good and had me hooked again.

Omg totally thought this was last oneeeeee
Gahhhhh
now we have to wait !?!?!?

Okay but I totally suspected Beck from the beginning, he’s deff in cahoots with his deranged daddy; the way he pushed Nix away when West got hurt had my blood boiling like fuck off clingy weirdo

Also the tension between Nix and June is so delicious in this book; he deff had a lot to make up for and the way Nix took back his power over them all was stunning, I have tears im so proud of him!

The first sexy time with Lake was so perfect
The way they came all over everything in the house to spite the other two was hilarious

I just love their little harem romance with Nix smack in the center it’s precious and he deserves all the love

I actually like how intense and dark the story was in terms like non-con, dub-con, among other triggers
Nixie started with a bit of Stockholm there but it’s clear he sees the demons for who they are and he’s fallen for them hard.
They’re so protective and possessive of him it’s absolutely delectable

I zipped through all three books so fast I was hooked from the beginning and now I’m so sad I have to wait for a fourth book I didn’t even know was coming but I’m excited to see Beck get his justice served that scheming piece of shit obsessive mf, the boys are gonna rip him apart and I’ll have my popcorn ready
