Every choice has its consequences that could cost thousands of innocent lives…
On the sacred day of Christmas, a clandestine figure reaches out to the U.S. Embassy in Moscow with a tantalizing a foolproof plan to neutralize Russia's strategic nuclear weapons stockpile in exchange for political asylum.
The Secretary of Defense, Gina Richardson, is well aware that the next decision could be the key to ending the war in Ukraine. However, she also understands that it could potentially escalate into a much larger conflict.
Gina's two sons, Grant and Zachary Richardson, are twin brothers serving as platoon leaders in the US Army. As the threat of war looms, they both wonder if they have what it takes to lead their soldiers into combat.
Aleksandar Malakhov, the current President of Russia, has a singular objective to restore his country to its former glory as a dominant world power and Eurasian empire. However, the US military and NATO stand in his way. Undaunted, Malakhov is willing to engage in high-stakes tactics and potentially provoke war with the alliance to see them come to fruition.
It's like history repeating itself as reckless leaders push their countries toward war once again. Only this time, the consequences could be catastrophic.
Gina Richardson understands any wrong move could trigger a disaster, but can she persuade her boss, the President of the United States, to ease off before he plunges the nation into a nuclear crisis?
Merry Christmas and peace on Earth – but not this year…
First Book in the Eagle Against the World Series...
Leo Barron works for General Dynamics as an instructor of military intelligence officers for the U.S. Army. His last book, No Silent Night: The Christmas Battle for Bastogne received an award from the Arizona Author's Association for Best Nonfiction in 2013.
I Loved the character development, the characters are like people I knew in the service. The build up to the battles, and battles are believeable. I can't wait to get the next book.
Interesting contribution to the WW 3 in Europe Scenarios
Leo Barron has put together a well detailed European WW 3 scenario. Great character development as well as good strategic and tactical descriptions. Well worth reading,
To be honest, I was not sure what I was getting into when I started this book. I figured a book about WWIII would have some sci-fi aspect to it, and maybe even delve into some of the crazier theories that are being floated online. Yes, they are out there on the web.
But, this was much better than I was anticipating. I saw that it had some great reviews, which is what prodded me a bit more into picking up the book. Okay, I am not going to lie, having the author request that I read the book and provide feedback was truly a great motivator. I am adding my apologies to the author for being slightly overdue. Unfortunately, unlike some of the more noble characters, a migraine felled me this week.
I want to note here that this book is really not for the squeamish. If you do not like graphic, then please stay clear. It would be unfair to the author to have someone not like it due to the graphic nature of the content.
I am a veteran, and this book was absolutely awesome. It was a step back into the boots, and smelling the dirt, the burnt powder from spent brass, and the camaraderie. There are aspects that only someone from the military would truly get, but the entire book is easy enough to devour and appreciate. If you get nothing more than the cadence and flow of the book, the author has succeeded. But, I guarantee that you will be searching online for some of the minute details that he shares, only to find that he is correct.
There was nothing left to chance here, and the flow and direction of the book stays on course without straying. There are obviously going to be characters you prefer above others, and that is how it should be.
This book is a great weekend read. Cancel your plans, order in, and enjoy the book.
Author left way too much hanging. What's his next in line, the invasion of Japan that never happened? In real life a tacticsl.nuke would likely be used, and that could be a megaton size, up to 35 megatons, because Russian tactical nukes are defined by rangr, not yield, unlike unlike U.s tactical nukes which are defined by yield, so wherever have a 25 kilon weapon Weapon Russia has tactical nuke defined the distance a missile travels. So they would wipe out Ukraine soothe two or three so called tactical weapons while he u.s. has pea shooters of maybe 25 kilotons, as defined in the nuclear non proliferation treaties. O back and read the multiplicity of articles in Foreign Affairs magazine, published by the Council on Foreign Relations. A number of articles appeared after Russia invaded Ukraine in February of 2022. I would offer his author a gift subscription, but I suspected He an afford his own. Wars don't just end hanging in mid air. Probably won't read any more of his novels. He might want o back and read the Hunt for Red October a d similar works. More believable endings.
I need book two yesterday! This book was a cinema-ready experience, loaded with action and storytelling that puts you right in the trenches, sweating it out with the troops. This isn’t one to miss! Let’s go, Mr. Barron — I need you to get that next book out on the double! I have to know what happens next!!!
I gave it 4 stars for the imagination and plotting. Whats isnt so hot is the writing which is pretty clunky and the endless episodes of battles fought and won. Getting too micro in this genre leaves the macro behind. Nevertheless we do feel that the author knows about what he speaks.
The book takes you on a journey that involves the USA and Russia , you are showed how they handle there issues . The issue is will they handle everything with out going crazy , the author keeps you wondering what they might due. The book is well done keeps you wanting more.
Hopefully a part 2 will be coming out to complete the story! This story is written very nicely with the use of maps and unit designation etc. we all gotta see how it ends
The plot was good, and I enjoyed the character development. I was annoied because the dates and days mentioned for 2026 were dates that matched up with days in 2025.
