He’s a grumpy billionaire who’d crush any rival under his fancy designer shoe. I’m a barefoot free spirit who’d sacrifice anything to save the town I love. We couldn’t be more different. So how did I end up working as his assistant? And more importantly…how did he end up in my bed?!
Darius Brighton stands for everything I despise. He’s rude. He’s impatient. And there’s not one loyal bone in that muscle-cut body of his. I learned that from experience.
He can’t be trusted and everyone in Starlight Falls knows it.
For the past sixteen years, I’ve done everything in my power to avoid him. I even left our quirky hometown just to put space between us.
But when looming disaster brings me back to Starlight Falls, I quickly realize that Darius is the only one who can save our beloved town.
So I make a deal with the handsome devil—I’ll work as his assistant and he’ll write a check to make all the town’s problems go away.
Easy peasy.
We agree to put our personal differences aside. After all, this is a professional agreement. Or at least, it’s supposed to be.
The problem is—now I can’t escape him.
Darius is everywhere. He’s even started barging into my dreams. See? Rude!
Long days, working together at the office. Sweaty nights, working together between his sheets. He makes my heart flutter. He makes my toes curl. And I’m slowly starting to remember why Darius and I used to be friends. Way back before we became enemies.
Soon he claims that he’s falling for me. He says he wants me no matter how different we are. That’s just ridiculous! …Isn’t it?
Well, the crazy thing is—I’m starting to fall for him, too.
But can I really trust his true intentions? The fate of our town is depending on me, after all.
Crazy Thing is a steamy, laugh-out-loud, small town, opposites attract, billionaire romance. It is set in small town Iowa and is book five in the Brighton Family series.
I was curious as to whom would catch Darius's heart but I never imagined it would be Ziggy. They are completely opposite of each other in every way, yet they seem to just work. When Darius snubbed Ziggy when they were 16, she swore she would never trust anyone again, especially Darius. When the waterfall is threatened to be lost to the town forever, Ziggy is forced to work with Darius. When they begin working together, Darius is convinced that he's dying and is trying to get his affairs in order. The more time they spend together working on the project, Darius begins to feel better without realizing it. He just knows he wants her in his life forever. He accepts Ziggy just as she is but she has a hard time trusting it. I loved how they are together and I liked how I didn't have to wait the whole book for them to be together. They are the best couple so far.
I'm a huge Cassie-Ann Miller stan, and will forever adore the Westbrooks and the Brightons! So, I think it goes without saying that I was super excited for Darius' and Ziggy's story!
Darius was portrayed as a lovable grump from the onset of the series. And judging by the antics of his siblings (namely Ronan and Karli), it was pretty clear that he'd taken upon himself to be the responsible one in the family. The generosity of his heart was evident in previous stories from this series in how he showed his love by investing his hard-earned money in his siblings' dreams. In case it wasn't already clear, I was a fan even before this story.
Ziggy was an interesting enigma in my book. In previous stories I found her to be weird and annoyingly judgmental (as opposed to "Aunt Rainbow" who shared the same beliefs, but didn't try to inflict them on those around her). But, I can safely say that she won me over in this story! Her insistence on Darius conforming to her world and her beliefs was a tough pill to swallow. But, considering how her own parents had broken her heart, it felt almost warranted that she'd put a guy through the wringer before giving him her heart.
Together, they were an intense, but hilarious couple. I loved how invested they quickly became in each other and their relationship. The depth and maturity of their conversations about the past was quite remarkable. And I couldn't have imagined a better HEA for these two than the one that Cassie gave them! It was unexpected, and so far from cliché because of how it happened. That epilogue alone was one of the sweetest flash-forwards I've ever read.
I love the Westbrooks and Brightons but this book was a miss. Just too much! Too much hippy, too much corny, too much misunderstanding, too much sex with not enough story, just too much.
Ziggy was so judgmental for all of her being "enlightened" and tired of being judged herself. Kind of a pot/kettle situation. That in itself wasn't so much a problem as I found her to be very judgy in previous books but where she was strong and independent in previous books, this one turned her into a hot mess of insecurities and childish behavior and that WAS a problem.
Darious has always been a grumpy workaholic with no time for nonsense or frivolous behavior but very quickly into the book he's turned into a marshmallow full of feelings and stepping all over himself to get Ziggy to love him. Make it make sense.
Ziggy works and owns a shop in the next town over but very quickly she's living in starlight falls in her camper in Darious yard and suddenly there is no mention of the store she owns. Is it still open? We don't know because in 400 pages it is only mentioned once when she goes back for 2 days to open it up and then no mention again.
The misunderstandings are stupid beginning with when they are 15!! Seriously? She felt rejected by him at 15 and that was basis for him becoming the enemy and all her trust issues? Because she didn't think her liked her the way she liked him? I just can't with the immaturity level it would take to sustain that level of anger over a decade!!
And finally, the names for their children....ugh!!!
I kept reading hoping for something more, deeper, I don't know. It just fell flat and seemed as though the author really had no concept for these two so just threw in a lot of sex and every cliche she could think of about how a hippy lifestyle would look.
I'm praying she doesn't ruin Archer and Layla's romance because that's the one I've been waiting for!

Book 5 in the Brighton Family series brings us the intriguing and emotionally charged story of Darius and Ziggy. If you’ve followed the series, you’ll already be familiar with these two complex characters.
Ziggy, the free-spirited and unconventional woman, is all about astrology, crystals, and tarot readings. She owns a shop but struggles to attract customers. Darius, on the other hand, is driven by business, ruthless in his pursuit of success and profits. However, beneath his cold exterior lies a surprisingly soft heart—one that is dedicated to supporting his family, no matter the cost.
In this installment, the tension rises as the beloved town waterfall faces the threat of being sold to Edison, Daphne Beaumont's ex-fiancé, who plans to turn it into a luxury retreat for his wealthy country club friends. The town is determined to prevent this from happening, and Darius is the only one with enough money to stop the sale. The only problem is that no one knows who the original owner is, which leads Darius to seek out Ziggy’s help.
As Ziggy reluctantly agrees to assist Darius, old wounds are reopened, revealing why she harbors such deep resentment toward him. This book becomes a journey of trust, healing, and overcoming past grievances. Watching Darius and Ziggy navigate their complicated relationship, with both personal and professional stakes at play, makes for a deeply satisfying read.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the final book in the series, where we’ll finally get to see Asher and Layla’s story unfold. It’s shaping up to be an unforgettable conclusion!
Free spirited Ziggy moves to her own beat and had always done so. She is a talented tarot card reader, sees future premonitions, and lives in her brightly painted converted bus. Darius is a billionaire who recently moved back to his small hometown and is seen as conniving and money hungry to the townsfolk. Years ago, they were each other's first kiss but immaturity and misunderstanding tore them apart for 15 years. Now, the waterfall that the town sees as sacred is about to be sold to a cruel man who would take it away from the town. Ziggy realizes that Darius has the money needed to buy the falls and she has the charisma to sway thr current owner. But that means they need to work together.
So far, this is my favorite book. I've loved Ziggy since the Wild Westbrook fam and was hoping she would get an HEA. These two are complete opposites in every way but it's the understanding that love does not have boundaries that makes it beautiful; it can not fit into a perfect box. Love only grows to accept more, never less. It's why a parent less child can be loved by another person or a kitten can be raised by a dog: love only grows. This type of love opens parts of the brain to change and accept things that may seem absurd to the reality but makes full sense in the overall picture. That is Ziggy and Darius...an opposite love that makes sense. It gives me hope!!
I liked this book for the most part, especially the beginning, however it went on for too long. Plus, I had some real issues with Ziggy that just made me not like her so much The end of this book was just boring to me.
Why does literally the entire town hate him? Why doesn't Ziggy trust him at all? Simply because of business reasons? It makes no sense that she trusts the sleazy lawyer more than having to work with Darius. Man, can she ever hold a grudge. To hold something against him that happened when they were 15 is a bit much. For someone so free-spirited and in tune with all the mystical stuff, she came across as a total hypocrite.
Darius even explained everything to her, offered her everything he has, and she was a total bitch and left him. He was trying so hard for her, and she was just a miserable person. It went against who she was, and didn't work for me.
The book dragged on, and at 80% I was hoping for some bit of action or drama to keep things going for me, and instead ended up with Ziggy throwing a hissy fit.
I will continue to the next book to (finally) see Archer and Layla, but I don't think I would read this book again or recommend it to others. This is 2.5, rounded to 3.

2.5⭐️ Wow. I like Ziggy in the other series but man, was she a letdown in this book. Previously she came across as secure, strong-willed, wise but in this book she’s wishy washy and hella insecure. Her whole reason for hating Darius is a misunderstanding from 15 years ago and even after he explains what happened, she still walks around with a heavy air of mistrust.
The conflict at the end felt convoluted and contrived. Again, Darius explains the misunderstanding and Ziggy refuses to hear or believe it. And Darius is trying his little heart out. He has done nothing wrong. He proves himself time and time again but Ziggy is so stuck in her ways that it goes no where. It’s funny how not self aware she is. She believes that she is better than others because of her beliefs and connection to the metaphysical world. But really she is a stubborn, judgmental soul against people unlike her.
To be honest, I really skimmed the last 75 pages (book is too long) just so I could see this wrap up. After the last book in the series I wrote that I was excited to read this book. And it was a fail in my opinion.
I absolutely loved Darius and Ziggy’s love story! Opposites are always a fave trope of mine and Crazy Thing does not disappoint! Ziggy is truly a unique character resulting in differences between the characters that I’ve yet to find in another story. She takes the positive, sunshiny vibe and levels up with all her peace, love, and hippie vibes. I love how deeply he loves and cares for her early on. He stays consistent and patient in his love and actions. Absolutely not what I was expecting from his character and very swoon worthy! I love that she had all these judgmental, preconceived notions about him that weren’t all the way true and/or proved wrong along the way. It seems they bring out the best in each other, while loving each other for who they are. I love that by the end Ziggy felt loved for who she was and got to continue being her true self. I found myself laughing frequently at their interactions and the way others responded to learning of their relationship. This may be one of my top favorite book couples from this year!
Can I give this more than 5 stars? Yes, I can! Ziggy and Farius story is fun, steamy and so sexy. Darius is the Brighton sibbling who is a billionaire, grumpy but with a big heart underneath. One day, the magical waterfall,is being sold to a sleazeball and the only person who can help is Darius. Ziggy, is a dreamer, bohemian and everybody’s friend. She has a struggling business and is being evicted by the owner of the building. Darius has a sweet spot for Ziggy, but she hates him, until the day she agrees to help him with the acquisition of the waterfall. Everything from their past will come back to haunt them forcing the, to face their past actions. Can Darius love for Ziggy be enough to bring her around and forget the past? You will laugh, have hot flashes and feel sorry for these two who are the perfect opposite and yet the perfect match. I absolutely loved their story!
Going into the series I was skeptical about how the dynamic between Ziggy and Darius would work in a romance. I have loved The Brighton Family series so I’m very familiar with the two of them as side characters in the other stories. But she did such a great job bringing two complete opposites together in this workplace romance, opposites attract, enemies to lovers, romance story. One of my favorite parts is the epilogue. It was absolutely adorable and I just loved it. The way that Darius just fell head over hills for Ziggy in this book was so fun to read. Can’t wait to read the final book in the series.🩷 honestly this book has got to be the most legitimate opposites attract romance I’ve read. Darius and Ziggy could not be more different lol but them coming together made for a great story. Also the spice in this book is so good! Who knew there was such a wide range of Crystal “toys“ 😂
This book was cute, but I had a really hard time relating to Ziggy. I loved her in the other books, but felt she was really judgmental in this book. I understand that she was hurt in the past, and I was really happy to see her overcome that. I also really liked that her friends & family repeated the advice she’d given them over the years, reminding her to be open minded. Darius was also tough to get behind - it was a little jarring going immediately from “I hate everyone” to fawning over Ziggy. But there’s a fine line between love and hate I guess? Overall a cute story, but not my favorite out of the series. Oh and I am SO happy that Edison is finally being investigated - his character is just yuck.

This is the 5th book in this series and every last one of them is so worth your time to read. So many ups and downs and craziness around these families. Cassie takes you into her world and makes you want to live there yourself.
Darius and Ziggy....such an unlikely pair but they are just so perfect for each other. This story had me swooning and almost crying and then swooning again. I absolutely adore this whole series and they are definitely on my re-read list as they gave me all the feels.
Now, we just have to wait to see if Archer and Layla get a story ;)
Ziggy and Darius’ story was cute but also annoying. These two were a big contradiction wrapped with a bow. Darius hurt her when they were younger and the scars from her mother’s relationships have her doubting relationships with men. Darius is too busy with work and how he is perceived by anyone until Ziggy comes back into his life. The one thing I can say is that Darius loves his family and will DO anything for them. So many misunderstandings, Ziggy was very judgy for being such a free spirit. But can complete opposites find common ground and realize they are better together than apart?
Wow, just wow! I’ve loved Ziggy throughout the other books, but wow, she’s blown me away! I love that she’s a free spirit, who is kind, loving, giving and a friend to all. Darius has loved her from afar for 16 years. He screwed up when they were young but he’s trying to make up for it now. He sees how beautiful Ziggy’s heart is and supports her in every way. They are opposites, but fit so well together. Even though each is insecure, they learn to overcome that. I love how all the family members come into each book to support the main characters. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
I was really looking forward to this book. Darius has been kind of a mystery in the last books in this series. In his book, you really get to see how amazing he is. He is 🥵🥵🥵🥵 and so kind and will do anything for the people he cares about.
Ziggy, on the other hand, was awful. So judgmental, unwilling to listen to sense. I wanted to slap her silly throughout the entire book, she was that annoying. I actually felt sorry for Darius because he had to go and fall in love with her of all people.
I’ve read all/enjoyed the Brighton/Westbrook series, but this was a miss for me. I was wary when I heard this would be the coupling, but then the characters were so far from who they were in prior books…it just fell flat for me.
Ziggy is mad at Darius for a misunderstanding they had when they were 15. She’s been angry over something that happened when they were teenagers for like 15 years?? Angry to the point she can’t be in the same room with him? Insufferable 🙄
Darius deserved better. Even prior books Ziggy deserved better.
Darius and Ziggy were each other's first kiss when they were teenagers, but as adults, they are like oil and water. Darius has become a billionaire businessman, while pink-haired Ziggy owns a small business specializing in crystals, auras, tarot card reading, etc. When they see each other for the first time in fifteen years in their small hometown, Darius thinks Ziggy is breathtakingly beautiful. Ziggy thinks Darius is a rich as sin ass. This sexy story tells how they attempt to solve their issues.
The Beatles and the Supremes knew what they were singing about. Darius and Ziggy definitely have their theme songs for their book.
Cassie-Ann L Miller has been serving up a seemingly endless stream of wonderful stories that I’ve fallen in love with over the years. Darius and Ziggy are amazing and become their best selves together. Highly recommend!
4.5/5.0 Stars...OMG…what a hilarious, opposites attract, bawl your eyes out, heart thumping romance!!! I love Ziggy and Darius so much . Their chemistry is off the charts but so is their insecurities. Can they get over the past or does it win the battle? What does it take to finally let the love in?
Another brother is off the market. In all honestly, if there was a more peculiar match, I don’t know what it is. I like all these brothers, but this one really doesn’t make sense to me. And if he had evolved more in the process, it would have made sense, but he just didn’t really change… he is a conundrum that I can’t quite fit in that square peg.
OMG, I wanted to smack Ziggy so many dang times! She is so stubborn. And, Darius, gah, he is so clueless. But, these two belong together in the craziest way. Ziggy balances out Darius' crazy need to constantly make the millions.
What a great book. Now, I cannot wait for Archer and Layla.
When I want to escape in a story, I run and pick up a Cassie Ann book. I know that it will make me laugh, smile, turn the pages as fast as I can and cheer. Crazy Thing definitely doesn’t disappoint! I absolutely loved it and definitely going on my re-read list. Definitely pick this one up. Happy reading
Absolutely floved Darius and Ziggy the fiesty-ness between them, the long ago kiss and how soo totally opposite they are has me giggling and shaking my head. I have been waiting for ages for Ziggy to get her own HEA and to see it happen made me soo happy. I totally recommend clearing your afternoon before you start as there was no way I was putting this down till the end!
In her mind, Ziggy had given her heart to Darius and then he broke it. It takes over 15 years for her to learn the truth. He’s turned in to a grumpy billionaire who thinks he is cruised till Ziggy walks back in to his life. This steamy love story will have you cheering for these two to have the HEA they deserve.
Super cute and wicked funny, Darius and Ziggy's romance was a true joy to read. I loved the feels and emotions that this couple had me experiencing and I feel that this was a perfect book to curl up and relax with because it is a definite mood booster.
Oh my goodness! The chemistry between Darius and Ziggy is off the charts. I loved the banter, steaminess, ups and downs and how Darius changes his mind about love and a family of his own. Ziggy put a smile on my face w/ her free sprint attitude. Cassie is fabulous w/ her feel good stories.
I just loved Darius & Ziggy!! Their story was so beautiful. They are so different, yet perfect for each other. The yin to yang. Their banter and the thin line between love and hate really shows up in this story. Such an enjoyable read. I highly recommend this story. Told in dual POV.
I’ll be honest, I’ve only read the Brighton novels, and although I liked Wild Thing and the other stories, I ADORED this book! Darius falls HARD! And I love the dynamic and the banter between him and Ziggy.
I've read this series up this last book and I absolutely loved it. Great characters and storylines. I love when I read a Authors book and I can see all the details in my mind. This is a great series I can't wait for Archers book.
This was a sweet love story and I absolutely adore the way Darius pursues Ziggy. Men should really read these books so they can learn to be more romantic. Ziggy with her sweet soul is so loving and giving. Their relationship really was worth fighting for.
