Then I realized with utter fascination and sadness— my Dove soared solo. She didn’t need anyone to hold her hand through every shit that life threw at her. She thrived like this when nothing held her down.
Noir killed my Family, and I have spent more than ten years of my life ending the ones responsible. I promised my Family nothing would ever get in the way of our retribution—until Aphrodite.
She is an innocent in all this, but Noir is using her to get to me. She works with them, absolutely intent on setting herself apart from what she was before, and this only drives us farther apart.
I would never give up on us, but it seems like the world enjoys bringing us back together to torment us.
I am the soldier, and the world is my rival.
She is the prize in all this mess, and I am determined to win.

Ahhh. Where do I begin? I have a love hate relationship with Aphrodite and Konstantin’s relationship lol. Which I believe is exactly what this author intended. I was hooked in Muse, especially because of the cliffhanger and could not wait to read Rival. The emotions this story evokes had me throwing my kindle, yelling at the pages, yet in awe and even in tears at other times. The way Kate provides the reader with such intricate details to describe this world and these characters will make you think, how does she even know these things?? I am throwing all the stars at this one. This series will live long in my head and my heart. Buy it. You won’t regret it.
Aphrodite and Konstantin’s story continues in “Rivals” where destiny once again seems to be wanting to tear them apart. Aphrodite, now a member of Noir, has found herself with a new purpose in her life. Long gone are her days living for Paradiso, now she has missions to complete. Her relationship with Konstantin has been estranged and she is focused on the new path her life has taken her. However, it seems that while destiny keeps separating her from Konstantin, he does not accept that. He has been watching her and when the time has come for Aphrodite to search for something in another man’s arms, Konstantin reminds her of whom she belongs to.
In “Muse,” we saw a different Aphrodite, she was cunning, observant but also a little naïve for Konstantin’s love. In “Rivals,” she knows where that love will lead. Aphrodite, in her rationality, knows she belongs with Konstantin, and he knows he’ll never find her equal. She matches his spirit, his cunning spirit, and she knows how to bring him to his knees. Konstantin has never been hotter! He remains protective of Aphrodite, and he tries to win everything by playing his game. He wants to reclaim Aphrodite and right his father’s wrongs. Konstantin is in battle with himself to fight for a different society, one that is not controlled by those who caused the epidemic, but also he is aware that Aphrodite’s new job is not going to help him.
I love Aphrodite in her new role, everyone keeps doubting her, but she still has that sparkle that made her amazing in Paradiso. She wants to fight and do good and Konstantin hiding things from her and wanting to protect her frustrates her, which I understand. I was glad she put her foot down several times and tried to prove herself. With no resources and limited funds, she could find a lot of information. But there’s no denying that Konstantin is a swoon-worthy character! He is just manly, hot, so much of an ahole sometimes, but when he begged. Dear Lord, I can only think of a waterfall gif! I love when a man shows vulnerability and Konstantin mask fell a little in this book. You know a woman is powerful when she gets a billionaire to beg her things.
And that ending! Kate Pirate is going to break my heart one day! I’m really looking forward to “Outlaws” to see how Aphrodite and Konstant will patch things up and how she will have even more experience to take down the regime.
“Rivals” may be the second book of a series, but it is still a breath of fresh air with new elements that shed light on Aphrodite and Konstantin's story. “Muse” focused on their relationship but in “Rivals” although apart, they are just meant to be together, and the universe can tear them apart. I love that Konstantin will keep fighting for them!
If you can’t get a man who’ll keep you safe with or without your consent, stays loyal to you even though you keep push him away and blame him for everything that you call upon yourself and calls you MINE don’t dispair, he’s waiting for you in this book.
Part two of the muse series. We keep follow Aphrodite in this dystopian world full of secrets and schemes. I’m starting to get a better understanding of the politics and it makes the plot very interesting. This time I struggled with Aphrodite’s choices. The amount of times I wanted to yell at her…. The smut is top notch and Konstantin sounds like sex on a stick. This ending though… poor Konstantin
ᖇEᐯIEᗯ: Got myself hyped by re-reading the ending of book 1, Muse. (⚠️ cliffhanger endings!) The formatting is nice in book 2, pretty chapter headers. Already starting off strong on chapter 1! Eek! These characters (mostly Aphrodite) had me yelling the entire time to just communicate and be honest with each other. The tension and spice were perfect, so I'm not complaining. I love the world building and social hierarchy in this book. All the twists and turns to keep you reading. Konstantin is such a protector. 🥰 ᴛʜɪɴɢꜱ ɪ ʟᴏᴠᴇᴅ ᴡɪᴛʜᴏᴜᴛ ꜱᴘᴏɪʟɪɴɢ ᴛʜᴇ ʙᴏᴏᴋ: 🕊 ʜᴇ ᴄᴀʟʟꜱ ʜᴇʀ ᴅᴏᴠᴇ 🐾 ᴍᴏᴏꜱᴇ 💍 ᴊᴇᴡᴇʟʀʏ 🥰 ʟᴏʟᴀ 🖼 ᴘᴏʀᴛʀᴀɪᴛꜱ 📨 ᴛʜᴇ ꜰᴀᴄᴛ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ɪ ɪᴍᴍᴇᴅɪᴀᴛᴇʟʏ ᴊᴜᴍᴘᴇᴅ ɪɴᴛᴏ ᴛʜᴇ ᴀᴜᴛʜᴏʀ'ꜱ ɪɴʙᴏx ᴀꜱᴋɪɴɢ ꜰᴏʀ ʙᴏᴏᴋ 3 ᴀɴᴅ ꜱᴇɴᴅɪɴɢ ᴘʀᴀɪꜱᴇꜱ. 👏 😂
This book is the 2nd in the series and will be released on February 14th, so mark your calendars. ✍️ 📅
Screaming, crying, throwing up....Kate, what are you doing to me?? I need book 3 now!!!! Lol The tension, mysteries unfolding, my heart breaking, what more could I ask for?
Kate just has a way with gravity. The story of Konstantin and Aphe keeps pulling me in. I cannot wait for the next book!! I really just need Konstantin to look at her as a whole and finally let her in cause dude just keeps fvcking up. My guy. You're making this harder than it has to be! Aphrodite is so strong willed and I cannot wait to see whole she develops into. I have every hope she will be the strongest and best character development! Thank you so much as always Kate for the ARC opportunity 🖤
This book was an emotional rollercoaster. I swear I have whiplash now. Not to mention, I’m pissed and want to throttle both Konstantin and Aphrodite. These two knuckleheads are both so fiercely headstrong and stubborn, I just want to smack them. And yet, I love them. They could dismantle the world together if they tried!
Book two in this dystopian dark romance series is all about self growth between both of the main characters. They are both dealing with a lot of unresolved trauma and both figuring out who they are and how they work in this fucked up world. All Konstantin wants to do is keep his Dove safe and protected from the shitstorm thats about to hit, but Aphrodite doesn’t want someone to protect her. She wants someone to weather it with her.
With a constant battle of wits, temper and tension, I flew through this book. As always, the world building just gets better and you start putting the pieces together (slowly but surely) the further along you read. Secrets are revealed, plans are put in place and people are being radicalized! I am already eager beyond belief to get my hands on book 3, which will be out later this year!
Rival drops Feb 14, 2025! Make sure you read my review of book one, Muse and enjoy the ride 🖤 AND CHECK TWS!
Tropes: 🖤 Dystopian Romance 🖤 🖤 Enemies to Lovers 🖤 🖤 Tension 🖤 🖤 Hurt/Comfort 🖤 🖤 Alpha male 🖤 🖤 Age gap 🖤 🖤 Revenge/ Espionage themes 🖤 🖤 they do it after she 💀 a guy 🖤 🖤 lovable dog 🖤
Aphrodite reacquaints herself with Noir as an active agent and Konstantin continues to be his secretive, broody, self as they both try to disassemble the new world power sometimes together and sometimes at odds. The push and pull these two share is undeniable and maddening. This book is 2/4, and the world building and twists have me captivated. Waiting for books 3&4 feels like torture. If you enjoy espionage, post apocalyptic dystopian love stories and don’t mind a ton of strife, this series is for you!
I was given a free copy. I am leaving my review voluntarily.
"This second book dives deeper into the dystopian world, delivering a mix of high stakes and sizzling tension. Konstantin shines even brighter in this sequel—broody, protective, and impossible not to love. His devotion to his 'Dove' was heartwarming, stepping in to support her even when she insisted on standing her ground. The action ramps up, with more suspense and steamy moments that are written with Kate's signature flair, making this sequel just as captivating as the first."
The slow burn of dove’s journey to realizing all she needs is herself- is a journey I am all for.
The romance and spice was just as good, if not better! There is more layers to this book.
And the plot! oh my god the plot. I loved it. I truly have no words. You need to read this.
“My dove soared solo. She didn’t need anyone to hold her hand through every shit that life threw at her. She thrived like this when nothing held her down”
Rival is book 2 in Kate’s Muse series which is a dystopian dark romance. This book has so much excitement in it including some obsessed fans, crazy family drama, spies, and dramatic injuries… and let’s not forget that the main characters can get it together and just tell each other the truth or how they really feel. But I’m already looking forward to book 3. Book 2 comes out Jan 2025 so add it to your tbr and go read Muse!
This was another high spice book set in a futuristic dystopian world after a global pandemic. Book 2 was just as good as the first and Konstantin was even more lovable and broody in this book. I especially loved how he took care of his Dove despite her attempts to do things on her own. There was more suspense and action and the spicy scenes that Kate writes so well.
“Be strong. No one is worth sacrificing your control over. When the right one comes, you’ll know because she will accept you for who you are.” Book two in the muse series Kate D Pirate brings to you: Rival! Continue the story of Konstantin and Aphrodite as they struggle to find a balance between what they need as individuals while also having deep feelings for each other with an utterly complicated past. Mixed with trying to right the wrongs of others and provide justice for so many, there is so much to unpack. A whirlwind of emotions of all kinds, plot twists like never before, and a choice between power or love because, “it’s the price of power. Sometimes you need to be ruthless and heartless.” Kate has an excellent talent for immersing her readers into the emotions in which her characters feel, and the intense messages she is able to portray in her writing. Starting with many issues that lay in our own society like human trafficking and the views in which society holds people to, to now looking at how amount of brainwashing people in positions of power can do. The damage it does, the effects it has on society. Kate has melted so many important things into these two amazing books and I cannot wait to see what else she does and to continue to see these characters grow, especially Aphrodite and Konstantin. I relate to them both so much and I wish them the best of luck with whatever Kate has planned for them next. Thank you for the amazing opportunity to ARC read this novel as well as Muse. I can’t wait to continue to support you on this journey and I am so proud of you for using your talent to bring a strong and powerful voice to so many things.

Very solid sequel! Once again I am impressed by the writing and the plot Kate D. Pirate is able to create. I so enjoyed getting to read about Aphrodite and Konstantin once again, I definitely did not get enough of them the first time!
After book 1, we did not leave Aphy and Konstantin is a great place, and while I can’t say it gets better for our characters in this book, I’ll let you find that out for yourself, but I will say that I was throughly entertained by the roller coaster they went on in this book, and especially in their relationship.
I really enjoyed the plot, I find it very original for this genre, and I really enjoyed getting to know the secondary characters in this sequel as well.
I will say this book felt a bit more tame than the last, but that being said please make sure to read the trigger warnings before reading.
I cannot wait to see where their story goes next and to learn more about this world! I hope we will also get more love connections with the Paradiso girls, I just want them to be happy lol 4.5 ⭐️’s
Thank you to the Author Kate D. Pirate for writing this story and for sharing your talent with us!
🌶🌶🌶🌶 THIS IS HOW YOU WRITE A SEQUEL! wow! I am absolutely OBSESSED with Konstantin and Aphrodite's story. They drive me absolutely mad but somehow still manage to keep me swooning. This couple is infuriating in the best way possible. If "miscommunication" was a couple, it would be these 2. But I eat that shiz up. Dystopian novels have always been a favorite of mine, but I've never read anything quite like Kate D Pirates Dystopian Taboo Romance. It's safe to say I specifically love Kate's take on dystopian worlds the best. Her dystopian approach is a genre of its own kind, and I love it. I felt very real and raw emotions reading this book. The author has a way with writing stories that capture and explore difficult subject matter in a way that's entertaining and enlightening. There are threads of reality woven within the storyline that make the world the characters are living in feel tangible and familiar. The twists and turns that continued to take place in this Muse series sequel had me gasping and devouring the pages. I stayed up way too late finishing this book, and then I couldn't sleep because the cliffhanger had my mind racing! I can not wait for the 3rd installment of this series! I need more of this couple and storyline immediately.
When I received my copy of this book, I was told I’d hate Aphrodite.
I didn’t.
Unfortunately, I understood her too much. I understood everything she was going through, the thought processes behind her decisions. Sure, I won’t say those were the right decisions to have made. But that’s a fault in her character that makes her human, a tired and fragile human whose heart has taken too much of a beating. Who's had to pile layers on layers of bricks to protect herself, only for it to constantly be broken down in the worst ways.
There’s no end to the drama, and I’m all sitting here for them. Everywhere you look, things you couldn’t (and could) believe. It’s a wonder I didn’t finish this sooner. I just kept going and there were more to find out, more to unveil. And guess what, the story isn’t over. So there’s definitely now MORE to unveil!
Rival is a very good second book in the series. The spice starts off right away which is fun. It is a bit disconcerting having read books in between and trying to get into the flow again. I had to remember where things left off and how. Normally I have a very good memory with books, but there’s a bit of unpolished flow in places. The story itself is very good. Lovers trying to work things out, with a bit of a bad boy spin for the MMC. Kicksss but soft hearted FMC. Their chemistry is off the charts. They both have unhealed trauma that makes it difficult to stay together and trust. But their world is rife with political games and intrigue. It makes life hard for a girl ya know? But the fact that he’d do anything for her… swoon. Circumstances beyond their control weigh heavily. Will they manage to make a go of it? CanNOT wait for the next book to find out. Plus Kate Is awesome
Im obsessed with the first book in the series and I’m just as obsessed with this book. I can’t get enough of Aphrodite and Konstantin. I was also very intrigued to see the two main characters of this authors, other work ‘Touch Me Not’ in the story. The writing is so incredible and it hooks you in and it makes you not want to put the book down. I can’t wait to read book 3. I just love the world building and the universe, this author has crafted.

This second installment in the Muse series is a wild ride—WOW! 🤯
From the first page, the twists had me hooked, and the romance? Somehow, the author made it even more electric this time. The chemistry between the leads is undeniable, pulling them back together no matter how hard they resist.
The dystopian world is vividly crafted, making it easy to imagine and follow. I usually struggle with world-building in this genre, but that wasn’t an issue here.
If you’re looking for a dark romance that balances spice with a gripping, fast-paced story, I highly recommend this book. I can’t wait to see where the next installment takes us!
It took me a little bit to get through this one. In Muse, Aphrodite and Konstantin were almost larger than life. I was expecting the same energy to come through in the second book and it didn't quite reach my expectations. When Aphrodite and Konstantin were together, they would fall into the perfect rhythm with each other, but as soon as any aspect of the world and people outside of them would be inserted, they would immediately fall apart. I had a hard time connecting with Aphrodite and supporting her decisions and actions.
3.5 ⭐️ 4🌶 I enjoyed the explicit scenes.
I am curious to see how the story evolves in the 3rd book.
3.5/5 stars. The second book in this world felt more mafia than the first, still not really dystopian in my opinion, but I love mafia vibes.
I enjoy Aphrodite and Konstantin's relationship and the growth we see there, but I felt they both made some terrible choices. Konstantin always needing control but not seeing where he was losing it and Aphrodite striving for more, but ending up in the middle of every conflict kept me on my toes. I don't support a lot of Aphrodite's decisions in this one, but I'm looking forward to seeing her growth as the story continues.
The ending on this one was a soft cliffhanger that is going to set up an epic 3rd book.
ARC REVIEW Aphrodite and Konstantin actually hold a special place in my heart and this book was so emotionally taxing , Aphrodite is so stubborn and we got to see that much in this book will sir Roz srsly needs to learn to tell her everything to avoid well pretty much everything. While we did get Konstantin finally opening up , and hot dirty talking the amount of revelations and plot twists were so much. I'm still in shock and honestly can't wait to read outlaw and find out how kon finally gets rid of the government. The spice is a 4
It's a 4.5 but whatever. The b*tch sucks ass here. Lord knows I would have laid down my genitalia for a man to adore me like Konsty does her, but nooooo.... What a turd. She insists on being difficult. Damn it! Why!!! Okay whatever. I hope book 3 isn't as emotionally exhausting as this because it'll end up breaking me.
I’m so happy Aphy & Konstantin are backkk 🥳🥳. “You aren’t touching her. Ever.” THE BEST THING SAID BY MEN. I absolutely LOVE how obsessed Konstantin is with Aphy. I’m not liking Aphy & Konstantin not being together 🙄. This book.. is breaking my mf heart 😭😭. I need more.. asap 😿 Rate: 5/5. Favorite Character: Konstantin Roszomakha.
This was hard to get through. I'm pissed at everything, but I know it's a story of self-growth the author did warn me but I'm left devastated at the ending. I really hope it gets better for Aphrodite and Konstantin. I wish the third book will be better, and want to see more of Mikhail!
Aphrodite and K are my favorite couple so far this year this is the second book this story will make you feel all the feels I laughed, got mad and cried and wanted to throw my phone a few times how ever it is an amazing read 10/10 highly recommend 😏
