High school students heroic act turns into epic human vs. monster sword fight!
Buso Renkin is the story of teenager Kazuki Muto, who dies trying to save a girl who was being attacked by an eerie monster. The next morning, however, Kazuki is left wondering whether it was all a dream. Lo and behold, the girl, the monster, and his death are all real! The girl, Tokiko Tsumura, was actually trying to slay the homunculus (a beast that can take the form of humans, and whose main source of food is people), but Kazuki got in her way. To revive Kazuki, Tokiko replaces his heart with a "kakugane," an alchemic device that allows him to summon a lance with which to fight the monsters. It turns out that Tokiko is a member of the Alchemist Warriors, an organization sworn to protect the world from the diabolical creatures. Soon, Kazuki joins Tokiko in her quest to terminate the sinister being that creates and controls the homunculus.
While investigating the mystery of the black kakugane, Kazuki, Tokiko and Gouta unexpectedly meet up with Alexandria and Victoria, the wife and daughter of the traitorous Victor. Alexandria and Victoria explain that a cure for the effects of the black kakugane exists, but it comes with a steep price. Now Kazuki faces a grave Can he afford to pay...or will he find that he can't afford not to?

This review is part of a personal challenge to: 1) read more French books; 2) improve my French; 3) read all the French manga novels from my mom's manga collection. Seeing as I read this book in French, the actual review will be in French (duh).

Ceci s'agit du neuvième volume de la série. Nous approchons maintenant très près de la fin de la série. J'ai l'impression que ça passe trop vite, avec de nouveaux personnages qui apparaissent et disparaissent en quelques pages. C'était aussi étrange le rapidité dans lequel le Commando d'Exécution a abandonné ses efforts pour éliminer Kazuki. J'ai même penser que la relation entre Tokiko et Kazuki s'est développée trop rapidement.

Rushed
This is the best way to describe this. The series had noticeably been canceled and therefore needed to be pushed at breakneck speed. Victor gained ultimate abilities, let's show everyone's abilities real quick. Have them lose, oh also, throw all of Victors backstory and the solution to fixing the black Kakugane issue all thrown into less than 200 pages. It wasn't great. Even with the extra 95 chapters in the next volume it didn't really help.
Even returning characters didn't really feel special. It just kind was fan service and tying up loose ends. I do like the resolution Kazuki comes too. That fits very much in line with his character. I like how he betrays Tokiko. The emotion is there. A lot happens too quickly.

The bizarreness continues. Only one more tankobon to go.
I looked at some of the anime on the web last night, and it makes more sense. The author's problem may be that he's trying to fit too much story into too few frames of manga. I will try to get to watch the anime, and I suspect I'll like it more.
Of all the characters in the series, my favourite characters are Tokiko, Mahiro and Papillon. Papillon is completely bizarre, but he's reliably bizarre and entertaining. Kazuki is just single-minded and dull, and I couldn't care less about the homonculi or the alchemist warriors... but Papillon is memorable.

A volume with inconsistent art and somewhat clumsy storytelling, below Nobuhiro Watsuki's usual standard, but some really fun ideas and some clever emotional moments.

Serial ini sudah sangat dekat dengan akhir. Memang itu berlalu terlalu cepat, dengan karakter baru muncul dan menghilang di beberapa halaman. Dan itu juga aneh seberapa cepat Komando Eksekusi meninggalkan upaya mereka untuk melenyapkan Kazuki. Saya bahkan berpikir bahwa hubungan antara Tokiko dan Kazuki telah berkembang terlalu cepat.

From the creator of Rurouni Kenshin, This series is definitely far from the greatness of that manga! The plot and art was all over the place, Great at times and hard to stay with it at times... 👌😁💕
