High school students heroic act turns into epic human vs. monster sword fight!
Buso Renkin is the story of teenager Kazuki Muto, who dies trying to save a girl who was being attacked by an eerie monster. The next morning, however, Kazuki is left wondering whether it was all a dream. Lo and behold, the girl, the monster, and his death are all real! The girl, Tokiko Tsumura, was actually trying to slay the homunculus (a beast that can take the form of humans, and whose main source of food is people), but Kazuki got in her way. To revive Kazuki, Tokiko replaces his heart with a "kakugane," an alchemic device that allows him to summon a lance with which to fight the monsters. It turns out that Tokiko is a member of the Alchemist Warriors, an organization sworn to protect the world from the diabolical creatures. Soon, Kazuki joins Tokiko in her quest to terminate the sinister being that creates and controls the homunculus.

The remaining Alchemist Warriors head for Papillon Mask's hideout to put an end to everything. But is Papillon Mask really going to carry out his mission to burn the entire world to the ground? Meanwhile, Kazuki and Victor's battle on the moon continues... Will there be a true victor in this final battle?

In the disappointing final volume, Nobuhiro Watsuki attempts to cram in as much as possible in a dwindling page count. The series was cancelled and Watsuki essentially begged for the opportunity to finish.
Unfortunately, the hasty resolution really shows through as themes that were introduced remain unresolved and the underlying conflict of Alchemists vs Homunculi remains, in many ways, unexplored.
Additionally, a significant portion of the pagecount is taken up by an unrelated one-shot storyEmbalming: Corpse & Bride. While not bad, its horror tone is a distinct contrast to the lighter fare of Buso Renkin and its surprising presence detracts from the overall work.
Still, if you've come this far in Buso Renkin, you'll probably find the ending worth reading, if not great.

The actual end of Buso Renkin was just as stupidly chaotic as the rest of it. However the one-shot "Embalming: Corpse and Bride" was quite good, and the "After Buso Renkin" story was good as well. IMO the author needs to try to tell more story and cram less junk into his manga.

nice ending, but overall i think this was a very generic and boring shounen :/ the fact that this is made by the same guy who created rurouni kenshin (one of the most acclaimed shounen of ALL TIME) is kinda baffling, to be honest.

This review is part of a personal challenge to: 1) read more French books; 2) improve my French; 3) read all the French manga novels from my mom's manga collection. Seeing as I read this book in French, the actual review will be in French (duh).

Alors que la série était arrêtée par l'éditeur, l'auteur a été obligé de conclure rapidement l'histoire dans un chapitre prolongé. Pour cette raison, l'intrigue a été résolue beaucoup trop rapidement et l'auteur s'est précipité jusqu'à la fin. Il n'y avait aucun moyen pour Papillon de créer un Nucloton blanc aussi rapidement et il était tout aussi irréaliste pour Kazuki de revenir sur Terre tout de suite. Pour résumer, cette série était assez décevante.
Ce volume comprenait également un épilogue avec une courte histoire sur la façon dont Tokiko a obtenu sa cicatrice.

Dengan popularitas yang barangkali di luar ekspektasi utk karya Watsuki sensei, sehinga Jump meminta agar serial ini segera diakhiri.
Sejak awal, pembaca dapat merassakan, Watsuki sensei memang agak lambat dalam mengembangkan plot cerita. Sensei ingin membuat ke arah serial yg panjang laiknya Rurouken, namun plot cerita yg terkesan sederhana membuat pembaca kurang tertarik menyimaknya. Termasuk cara mengakhiri, beragam kejanggalan menyertai. Semisal bagaimana Papilon lekas membuat Kakugane putih seiring dengan kepulangan Mutou dan Victor ke bumi. Singkatnya, seri ini memang cukup mengecewakan.
Jilid ini juga menyertakan epilog dengan cerita pendek tentang bagaimana Tokiko mendapatkan bekas lukanya. Cukup menghibur setidaknya membuat pembaca bisa memberikan kesan yang menyenangkan seusai karya ini.
Volume ini juga mencakup cerita pendek lain yang terinspirasi oleh Frankenstein dan Android.

This year I decided to read through my physical mangas and decide which ones to keep and which ones to chop, and Buso Renkin happily sits on the chop pile.
Boring characters, you could have removed all of the friends from the story and nothing would have changed. Boring powers and a boring romance. One of the villains was a bit fun, probably the reason why I carried on reading it to completion. I had to google when Borat came out to figure out who wore the mankini first.
I gave it three stars because it did nothing wrong, but it also didn't do anything right.

From the creator of Rurouni Kenshin, This series is definitely far from the greatness of that manga! The plot and art was all over the place, Great at times and hard to stay with it at times... 👌😁💕

The saving Grace? Kazuki vs Papillion R2
That's it. Otherwise it was just rushed second ending. I enjoyed the fight between Kazuki and Papillion. I hated that Victor and all the Homunculi got nice turnouts. It all just felt like we dropped everything. If it was this easy, then why hadn't it happened earlier? If All the Homunculi were cool with going to the moon, why didn't we just set that up before? How did all they find all the Homunculi? Too many unanswered questions.
I like that Kazuki became human again. I like that he got with Tokiko. It was an okay ending. Rushed, and why on earth was a fallout chapter placed AFTER the embalming one shot? It didn't really fit. Whatever. I had fun revisiting this series. It definitely didn't hit the highs and lows that Rurouni Kenshin did. But Watsuki I felt didn't have a finite plan for this series' limits. Where RK felt very much like he understood the time piece, the style and stayed within his means. Overall, Buso Renkin is a meh series. Not the worst. For sure not the worst. But I'd probably never recommend it to anyone at this point unless they needed something easy to digest.
