I Will Mend You is the second installment to the series with unreliable narrators and disturbing themes. Please check the two pages of trigger warnings.
When the villain is actually the HERO ! XERO IS EVERYTHING!!!!!
My jaw is on the floor with the plot and amount of details this story has. Some people like the first book of the duet better but I actually like this one more. This book picks up right at the cliffhanger from the first book. The INSANITY in this story is something else. We now know the whole “situation “ with Xero and the ghosts, plus Amy mental state. We also have a very good grasp of the direction of the plot. But still was impressive. My heart felt for Amy and all she goes through, and the more you learn of her story, the more your heart breaks. The deception, manipulation, lies, the things used to control her and/or to make her feel and act like a crazy person. Everything was just insane. Xero captured my heart. He is so ruthless and vindictive but his heart is in the right place, the fact that he made his life mission to destroy his father and his evil “business” and “business associates”. His mission was to destroy the moirai organization that kidnaps and trains children to become assassins, he wants to destroy his father organ trafficking, sex trafficking and snuff movies where they actually grape and kill the girls. On top of that he wants to save Amy and “mend” her heart and soul. Did he achieve all of that? YES HE DID IT. But it wasn’t easy and Amy was crucial to that, since after everything she went through all she wants is revenge.I also loved how the author doesn’t just brushes over Amy’s trauma and have the couple having sex almost immediately after all she went through, I hate when authors do that because it seems very unrealistic. In here they literally only get intimate after everything on chapter 73 ! It’s perfect! I understand that a lot people don’t like this duet, because it is VERY DARK and the topics are insane. They are not for everyone but they are definitely for me. Also I liked the little crossover mention between them and the Montesano family from the morally black series that I also actually love and the ending of Breaking Rosalind being a part of this one too. i am a fan of Gigi Styx work !

I'm in the minority on this. Most people think it's the best thing - I thought it fucking sucked.
Amethyst and her crazy hallucinating ass and Xero Greaves are STILL doing this whole fight thing of I don't trust you but I want to fuck you. She's kidnapped and he has to try and rescue her. There's a shit ton of rapes going on - why the hell does everyone want to rape this girl??? Good grief let's move on!!! She spends 99% of the book volleying between "Xero wants to kill me" or "Xero is dead and I'm seeing his ghost". Nobody is who they say they are. Dead people come back to life. Secret identities. Twins. A whole bunch of other stupid ass shit.
You know in the soap opera Days of Our Lives - how Marlena was possessed by the devil, Stefano came back to life 15 thousand times, Kristen had an evil twin nobody knew about, nearly every single person in the cast had been killed and brought back to life MULTIPLE times - that's what this is - except it's not as entertaining.
4🌶️ this book is my favourite dark romance i have ever read! There is no waaay i will love anything more than this duet!!
This book starts immediately after the first, with Amethyst meeting her twin and Xero surviving the fire! The first half was sooo hard to go through! I cried a lot and was on edge until Amy and Xero finally reunited, but still, that wasn't the end of the nightmares! It really was so hard to read through it all! I kept reminding myself that they will kill them all!
Xero's love and gentleness towards Amy was so heartbreaking, especially because of what she went through! And the way she finally believed that he is alive? Oh man i was sobbing!!
The fascinating thing about this book is that everyone is morally grey, except for Delta, everyone else is a victim!!
Amy's mother's diary was an interesting read! The way the twins were manipulated against each other was horrendous!!
The revenge scenes were the best scenes in this book, the way Amethyst took control and tortured her abusers healed my black soul!
I also loved that Xero didn't try to heal Amy with sex, but with tenderness and love! I'm in love with him. I thought Leroi from Taming Seraphine is my favourite MMC, but now I'm not sure!!
This book was sad and dark and extremely triggering, and also very heartwarming with the love declarations that Xero kept spewing 😍😍
Wowza! This will be another review of the entire duet and not one book itself since once again, I couldn’t stop and write a review before immediately rushing into book 2.
This duet was an absolute journey full of trauma, twists, and complicated storyline and I loved every second of it.
I’ll be honest… I sat on this duet for way too long. The size alone felt intimidating, and even when I started, I kept thinking there was no way all those pages were necessary. Turns out? I was completely wrong.
By the end of book one, I was fully gripped. I had no intention of reading Book 2 immediately but Gigi really said “jokes on you,” because I ended up devouring book two in a single day.
If you’re a reader who LOVES a dark and twisted storyline jammed full of trauma and shock, I’d suggest picking up this duet. While the books are girthy, they are absolutely worth the read.
I really did like book one better I don’t have much to say about this one. Although, Amy seriously pissed me off leaving Xero for dead like that, without even bothering to ask any questions. I do understand it slightly though bc obviously she was unaware of the fact that she had a twin. I do wish he would have been a little more upset, because he didn’t die out of pure luck.
I hated the entire part when she was in captivity because I don’t tend to enjoy absolute misery in my books and that lasted too long for my liking. She was beyond lucky, she didn’t actually kill Xero or that entire situation could have been very different.
The author did a good job in my opinion with the entire sexual assault sideline. I liked how Amy was not immediately jumping right back into having sex, because that seriously bothers me in books when they do that.
I’m surprised after this whole dark ass duet that they even ended up getting a happy ending, but they did deserve it after lifetimes of trauma!!

This book gave me a headache. It genuinely got on my nerves.
Reading it felt emotionally empty. There was no real connection between the characters, no tension, no love, and no conflict. I didn’t feel anything while reading it. Not excitement, not anger, not even dislike. Just words on a page.
It’s long, and unfortunately not in a good way. The pacing drags, and instead of pulling me in, it made the experience frustrating.
Nothing about this book entertained me, and finishing it felt more like endurance than enjoyment.
Okay, im say this.. please, please, read the trigger warnings book 2 is way darker than book 1. For your health please.
We pick up right where book 1 leaves off poor. Amethyst is confused at wtf is going on, and she is taken. And I'll be honest, her being taken was one of the hardest reads I had to read. My heart broke at all the torture she was put through. She was slowly losing her mind and body. The only thing keeping her safe was ghost Xero. Until the real one came fighting tooth and nail to find his girl. It took him a while since he was also recovering from the injury Amethyst caused him, lol.
The aftermath was good my girl fought and did rescue herself then reunited with Xero. They didn't rush anything Xero was there for her making sure she knew he would never leave her again and they would get revenge against her twin sister and his father for all they done to both of them. They came a long way from the hate in book 1. I shed a lot of tears in this one. And I gotta tell you that revenge was well desevered!!!
I'm glad with what happened. The spice was still there, but it took a while due to what happened to Amethyst.
Saftey-Amethyst was raped by someone and other things.
Angst, om (rapist) no ow, no cheating, drama, sexy times, no virgins

What a stunning ending to the duet, this book was so twisted and twisty! I loved how everything played out, there were lots of moments where my heart was breaking for Amethyst-she was put through the wringer a lot! But I did love how much she grew and overcame all the horrible things that had happened to her, she was so strong by the end, and I loved how much Xero cherished her, both actually and in his own twisted way! Amazing read.
4.5 🌟 okay sooo i have so much to say and it prob won’t even make sense but anyway 😭
first book? wasn’t really my cup of tea but this one on the other hand…YEAH! loved it!
Amethyst is js my girl fr everything she went through in this book with well— anyway i loved seeing how she became this baddass that wasn’t scared anymore of those that hurt her physically mentally emotionally and god knows what else. she’s amazing and she is the moment.
Xero. this man is smt else like the switch from his crazy black soul like personality to someone that like actually deeply cares aht amethyst and js loves her so deeply was so random but i loves everything second of seeing how much he cares abt finding amethyst and helping her recover!!
i’m js very happy for amy and xero although some scenes were questionable to say the least 😭😭
SPOILERS 🚨‼️🚨‼️
okay first of all..dolly that girl is js crazy. i hated her sooo much and lowkey still do but tbh i can still kind of sympathize with her bc everything she went through as a child is js insane but that doesn’t excuse the fact that she wanted to use her twin as a replacement for those fuckass snuff movies 🤮 i also feel so bad for Amy as a child and like how she started to hallucinate and that stuff. one person i will hate for the rest of my life is Malonie. what a mother that u are. sick bitch!! ewww she’s disgusting ur basically the reason ur children got 🍇 and all that sick stuff and js increasing amy’s dose of that medicine when she didn’t even need it making her more crazy? disgusting! in most situations i would lowkey understand but NO! her and lyle deserve to rot in the deepest pits of hell! i’m so pissed off by lyle AND Delta i’m not even gonna bother talking abt them ✊❤️
Book one was good and left me hanging to start book two…. But I have no idea what i just read. It was a strange rollercoaster ride with so many ups and downs. I had to forced myself to finish it and that was only because I needed to know how it would end.
This book takes dark romance to a whole other level. My heart was absolutely shattered for 75% of the book & it was tough to read at times. But holy mother of torture, does it pay off at the end. 🔪 🔥
• CHECK THE F*CKING TRIGGER WARNINGS!! • unreliable narrator • duel pov • morally grey characters • touch her & ☠️ • obsessive/possessive MMC • mental illness rep • evil twin • the couple that slays together stays together
Oh the things I would do to/for Xero Greaves is unhealthy. I am soooo happy they finally got their happy ending and got rid of that fucker. I wish there was more of Xero and Amy together without the constant worry of his father, but hey I guess this will have to do.
It was not what I was expecting at first, I thought it was gonna be letters more than anything, but the letters and parts of the diary that they show on both books are complementary to the main story.
First book was a pain in the ass, but this one definitely was a bomb. I could say that 90% of this book was excellent, the romance felt real, I could connect and feel the characters, specially Amy, I even cried for her at the beginning.
The beginning was definitely majestic, a piece of art, I couldn’t help the feeling of dread that accompanied me during the reading… but also when I wasn’t reading!! I couldn’t put the book down, I was obsessed over it.
By the ending things were setting and of course the excitement turned into satisfaction. I personally felt like the revenge to Delta could have been better, but they did fine.
Finally, I think that the issue with Wilder and Sparrow was never resolved, we never knew what happened to them.
So excited to know that so many characters are also mentioned in the Morally Black series!
I am so glad I stuck with this series it's honestly a favorite for me! listen, if haunting Adeline was too much for you, please stay away from this one!
So many twists and turns in this one it certainly kept me on my toes!
This 2nd book was still as dark if not a bit more so than the first. Xero & Amethyst have some grueling experiences in this book, dark and depraved that leave you wanting to give hugs and exact revenge.
We finally catch up with Xero's daddy dearest and learn all about the horrors of his enterprises. We get a deep dive into both Xero & Amethysts backgrounds. These insights really bring to light the motives behind some of the characters most questionable actions.
This duet gives major Cat & Mouse Duet vibes by: H.D. Carlton, but for me personally I think this Pen Pal Duet was darker. If you're a fan of Haunting and Hunting Adeline & looking for something similar I'd say this is definitely for you.
But remember to check the triggers if you have any, your mental health is important! 💜
Update: How could I forget to mention the narrators?! Madison Mitts & Theodore Zephyr do a fantastic job! I think this is my first book narrated by Madison and I just loved her! Some people do unhinged so well & Madison has it in spades!! She's the first female character narrator that really stuck out to me as doing an unhinged female character so well! I enjoyed her so much that I looked up another book she narrates & lucky me Theodore does this one too! Needless to say that series is going to be my next read!
3.5..took me a hot minute to finish this book I lost interest in it a few times but I finally finished it. It was a lot of up’s and downs and I got kinda got lost a few times.. it might’ve been me just not into this book or ..the book. Idk but yeah.. umm yeah.. I finished it and that’s all.
4,5 stars! Plot in this part was more consistent than in part 1, with some nice plot twists. Never thought I could like a blonde MMC but here we are 🔥 Really enjoyed this read 😁 the spice in this one is not thaaat much, but maybe I'm spoiled 😂
Soooo long. So many things happened I can't even remember half of them immediately after finishing it. BUT I liked it. My only real complaint was the voice actor for the FMC gasped and whimpered way too much. But the story was entertaining and satisfying for sure.
“Because, no matter what they do or say to you, no matter how they break your spirit, I’ll be here to piece you back together. Even when you don’t believe in yourself, you’ll believe in me.”
After colliding back into the life of the real flesh and blood Xero Greves, Amethyst Crowley is about to undergo the most traumatic moments of her life. Confronted with a staged gang rape video featuring her twin sister Dolly posing as her, she feels she can no longer trust Xero as she watched his video form somply stand and encourage it. Rendering him unconscious, she sets the catacombs ablaze before making her grand escape straight to her mother's front door. Walking into a blood bath where her mother and Uncle Clive were both stabbed and shot to death, she never expected to come face to face with her mirrored image. Dahlia (Dolly) looks identical to her in every way, except when you look deeper than skin. An evil and corrupted girl, she spent fourteen years under Delta's personal abuse and the abuse accumulated from being trained as a Lolita Assassin. Forced to start in dozens of Snuff Films, she beat all the odds of survival and found herself a loyal fan base who would pay the highest dollar for a chance to start in one with her. When they finally captured Amethyst, they would bring her to Saint Christina Lunatic Asylum, the very place she spent countless hours being tortured by a sick doctor. As her memories of the past begin surfacing, her own twin would subject her to the cruelest conditions the entire time she was there. Sexually abused and humiliated, drugged and violated, she turned to her conjuring of Xero’s spirit to guide her through. Numbed from everything happening to her, she would eventualy gain the courage and try to escape but would find herself face to face with Xero again. Brleiving he's dead and Delta is simply trying to impersonate his son, she's understandably terrified of being too close to him again. Haunted with nightmares of her ordeal and dealing with the guilt of nearly burning Xero alive, she's ready to begin training and take back herself from all the men that have hurt her.
“I love you more than the blood in my veins. I love you more than the air in my lungs. You’re the first thing I think about when I wake, and the last on my mind when I sleep. I love you so much that every moment without you feels like burning in the pits of hell.” “I love you more than words could ever capture, because you’ve always been mine. Mine long before we even met. No one has ever completed me the way you do. You’re it. My everything. My perfect match.”
Determined to destroy anybody that dared touch his little ghost, Xero pours everything he has into rescuing her and working through her traumas together. Training with her and morphing her into the perfect warrior, she's no longer the victim fearing her abusers. Confronted with a a chance for vengeance and blood, she morphs quickly into the deadly killer we saw in the first installment. While Dolly does everything she can to ruin her image and point at Any for the murders, the real girl is hiding beneath the city streets. When Camila, Xero's sister is captured by Delta and Dolly, he knows his world is about to be flipped. Taken with Amethyst after being hit with tranquilizer guns, he's hyped up on Pcpand a cocktail of drugs before being forced to fight Amy to the death. Performing in their own sniff film, she manages to break through and get him to realzie it's really her and not her sister who shot Camilla. Left Alice, the two would set up a strike that'll leave so many corrupted individuals dead and his own father captured. Kept for a year in the cells, he was starved, broken down and tortured by every operative who he wronged. After an entire year of revenge, the time came when the group he spent his life creating of Assassins would be blown up in front of him before he was set on the electric chair himself. With Amethyst pronounced deceased, her and Xero begin a life with only each other and nobody left in their way.
The bond between us solidifies in that moment, and I know this truth, deep in the marrow of my bones. I will die for this woman, kill for this woman, slice through every living being on this planet for this woman. I would steal fire from the gods just to see the flames reflected in her eyes. I would tear apart the heavens to keep her safe, and face any measure darkness to hold her in my arms.
*MF *Dual-1st-PoV *Contemporary *DARK *MAJOR RED FLAGS *Stalker Romance *Prison PenPal *Serial Killer MMC *Amnesiac FMC *Mental Health Issues *High Heat & Kinky *2 of 2 Bloody brilliant! I cannot recommend this duet enough for all those DARK romance lovers out there 🖤 There’s plenty of twists in this book as you get a wider insight into Amethysts past and what has created the issues that she has. Her backstory absolutely pulls on your heart strings, being betrayed by those who should protect you most, and you can understand why she is the way she is 😳 I liked the diary inclusions, they were a good way to get insights 👍 The love that Xero has for his girl is just unreal, and the lengths he will go to to show her he will be by her side no matter what is just 🥹 honestly you get so many feels for these two 😍 don’t get me wrong there is A LOT of violence (mental physical emotional seggsual) in this one again, I cannot implore you enough to check your trigger warnings! But it just adds to the story for these two, there’s definitely an element of can they take anymore as you realise how interconnected their lives are 😲 but oh boy the revenge they get is just 👌a twisted tale of a couple willing to tie their souls together and go to the ends of their limits for each other 🖤
Struggled very hard to finish this book. I enjoyed book 1. Book 2 was just felt very long and drawn out. It could have been so much shorter. I hoped that by book 2 Amethyst and Xero would have reached a mutual trust. But she spent 75% of this book going back and forth between trusting him, not trusting him, thinking he's dead and seeing his ghost(after she tries to kill him), to wanting to rip his clothes off.... There were a lot of people popping up who were linked in some weird way. This book felt very forced. I only finished it because I kept hoping that it would get better, though it never did.

i love a dark romance, but this just felt like it was stuffing every trigger possible into one book and being like “yeah that’ll do, they’ll eat it up”. the main characters are just irritating to me and the antagonists just felt blah. the amount of spelling and grammar mistakes was also rather overwhelming.
Y’all I’m so sorry but the female narrator is the most cringe I’ve ever heard. Why is she literally sobbing over every line? Why can I hear every single breath she takes? It’s like pulling teeth trying to convince myself to keep listening and I cannot do it anymore.
Books teach lessons, and I think this one was to never think that everything will be okay when there's still 400 pages left in the book. And that being a murdering psychopath(in the eyes of a normal, non-dark-romance reader) is a very attractive trait. :3 WARNING do not read this book if you are sensitive to not-so-consensual things, in not-so-fun detail, being done to fmc or really a lot of people in the book. Also don't read if you want to keep your sanity. But if you're looking for a thrill and don't care about your mental health, this book is for you.
In the FMC's perspective I will say that it gets a little confusing sometimes. But that's due to the fact that her mental health is withering, or rather already gone, and the fact that she's hallucinating. A lot. So if you find that frustrating, read it anyway :3
When reading the MMC's perspective, it was really really really frustrating that it took SO GOSH DARN LONG for them to finally find the FMC. Okay yes, he got permanent lung damage but still. YOU ARE BASICALLY IMMORTAL WITH YOUR ARMY OF PEOPLE. GET TO WORK. (note: I'm always a supporter to the fmc no matter what happens, though will sometimes want to bonk some sense into her depending on her choices, but the fmc should have the world revolving around her :3) There was this whole situation where the MMC was like: oH mY gOsH sHe hAtEs mE aNd dOeSn'T tRusT mE. That just....was a fUn thing to read considering that the literal first thing that the MMC did when they met in person was terrorize and manipulate her and cause hallucinations to just be bad and make her question what's really real. (this happened in the first book) And the reason being that he was punishing her for SOMETHING SHE DIDN'T EVEN DO! (it wasn't her fault) This whole debate on whether or not she was real and what not felt like it just slowed the search. Their priority should have been TO FIND HER. (which to be fair was but still.)
Later in the book FMC hallucinated Xero which I thought was him being real and being happy about it but no. It was a hallucination. The poor girl really just needs a hug. When they finally got back together and got to safety(where I let my guard down thinking that they will live happily ever after...) it was so sweet and gentle I loved that. Andddd then MMC had to ruin that by um...becoming a little crazy and um....doing things that really wasn't the time nor place to be doing. It was interesting...apparently they are fireproof? I don't know what the problem was with Gigi and the inability to just have a normal aftermath after spice stuff. Why did she have to put some sort of attack that happens almost everytime? Really Gigi? WHY WHY WHY did Gigi drop a kill to a good side character (MMC's sister)?!? I mean she did stay alive but seriously? Goddesses above that was TERRIFYING.
The end? BEAUTIFUL!! I LOVED how the revenge on Delta(MMC's unfortunate, technically adoptive, father) was dragged out for weeks, but I wanted more detailssss (it was already very detailed and very beautiful) I love how Delta becomes truly defeated and just dehumanized. SERVES HIM RIGHT
Now on to my reactions/feelings towards the other characters: The Thing That Gave Birth To FMC: - I felt no empathy towards the Thing in the beginning. Only until the letters did I feel the SLIGHTEST bit of empathy due to the not-so-consensual things that happened to her. But seriously? Hating your own child that YOU messed up and staying with a bad relationship, not once but TWICE? Okay yes, it is understandable that it will feel helpless and such which is why I feel some empathy towards her but...my gosh it's hard to. As I like found out more about the Thing, I felt a little more empathy but the mistakes... Example: "We need to cover this up. My little girl won't end up in an institution." This is kinda understandable to not want your child to go into an institution and be like a "mess up" but no. Letting this thing go(Dolly killing someone, though technically she didn't) really will just make everything worse. Dolly(the twisted twin): - Where do I even begin? I'm sorry that such horrendous things have happened to you, especially so young but really? Really? The things you did made me feel not an ounce of sympathy to you. Maybe like an atom amount. The FMC was way to kind I'm sorry but Dolly, you should rot in hecky with the thing that gave birth to you and Delta(I would call him a thing but that seems to be an insult to all things) Isabel(MMC's sister): - love her but...seriously? Give her some grace, your brother practically traumatized the heck out of her as if she wasn't traumatized enough and she literally just encountered lots of not-so-consensual things.
In the end I really loved the book. I really did. No pregnancy troupes at all(unless you count the miscarriage that happened before the events in both books) The only thing that really made me not really sure about this book was the fact that FMC technically becomes MMC's step-aunt. (gonna just ignore the list of trigger warnings :3)
Also just in case anyone comes at me for being "too heartless" to some characters, I'm just writing this in the most critical tone, and did feel empathy towards those that deserved it. :3
