In record time they start dating and she is thrilled when she can finally change her Facebook profile status to ‘In a relationship’.

However, Brody’s mother has huge political plans for her family and she makes it clear, they do not include someone with Burn’s color.
When Burn suffers a severe bout of self-loathing because of Dawn McGraw’s words, she is forced to make a decision that will break her heart.

REVIEWS ON BURN’S WORLD

“I love the characters in this book. They all have different qualities that tie the book together. Burn has such a fantastic personality from the first page I was gripped I literally finished it within 3 hours. Overall freaking loved and so bloody funny near peed my pants. Am looking forward to reading next one.”

“I genuinely loved this. I totally "got" Burn. I liked her kickass personality and just everything about her. Even though I am a 32 years old and white I could relate to her - if that makes sense to you? I "felt" her.”

“This second book was great, for me it was even better than the first one. There were so many emotions flowing and I loved it!”

“I’m not sure if I like Gringa better, or Burn’s World, but I can tell you omg…I was hooked from page one when I started reading Burn’s Wrld. Burn is real, kickass, funny too. She’s someone I would love to take on holiday. Lol. Lots of cussing, racial remarks, sexual reference and I didn’t like that the books were so short.  Overall, I loved the series, loved Trojan too. I laughed so much! I cried too. Overall, I definitely recommend it.”

"I must say I love Eve Rabi's books but this by far was my favorite series!! It will keep you on edge!!"

Brody and Burn's falling in love was maybe too fast. But I don't really mind it; because you already have me falling for Trojan. I don't know what happens with Eve's stories but she always make me fall for the bad guy. I loved the interactions between them (Burn's and Trojan) but they were almost in the end. I wanted to read more about them!

What happens when a poor mixed race girl meets a rich white dude? An amazing love story that touches plenty of emotions—tears, fears, anger, blushing—and a plot that moves like a corkscrew rollercoaster ride.

Eve Rabi evoked plenty of dormant memories from my high school days in Burn’s World. And, you don’t have to be in high school to appreciate this series. Her voicing is often hilarious and always engaging. Rabi manages to capture the essence of life through teenage experience, giving this series a universal appeal. Brody and Burn are very well developed and the love encounter is sensational. Trojan is truly a bad dude, but he serves as a great antagonist. Her minor characters add to the plot without getting in the way (not always easy).

The paranormal element enhances the story. The dialogue is believable and adds gravitas to the story, which Rabi navigates us through masterfully. Each of the four books are great stand alone, but you’ve got to read the entire series. There are mature themes but all adults—young and old—would enjoy this series. It’s refreshing to read a series which doesn’t shy away from controversial issues. If you can get past racial slurs, strong language, and sexual references, this series is a great read. Well done!

Everything about this book is first-class. The cover, the story-line, the dialogue are all right on the money. What a refreshing read. Loved it.

I like the story line. It reminds me of high school and how crazy it could all be. Although Burn seems like she's got so much on her plate she seems to keep at life as best she can and with two hotties why not.

Feeling odd

These two books had fun, sad, and incredibly disappointing moments. I'm not a writer and am certain if I ever attempted to, it would be a disaster. Kind of like these two books, but worse. I'll start with the name choice of Trojan. Yes, African Americans can and do come up with colorful names, but, seriously, Trojan? Moving on....
No, staying put. I had several things I wanted to address in this review but, no. I understand that giving the character the name of Trojan and having Burn allow people, with the exception of Brody, to use the " N " word, speaks volumes. It's a very generous 3 stars from me.

Laugh put loud and tense

Great book, what a life Burn has, it all seems so sad with great laugh out loud moments. This is a complicated thriller that I just could not put down. Loved it & read it in a day and night. The second part is just as amazing if not better. This ends on a cliffhanger, but you will so want the second book.

Crazy and Compelling Love Story!

The Burn’s World series describes a compulsive and addictive love triangle. Once again Eve Rabi has created a unique plot full of humour, mayhem and emotional highs and lows. The tale is also peppered with hilarious observations of the human condition. This is the second book that I have read by the author, the first being Gringa - In the Clutches of a Ruthless Drug Lord. Once again I could not stop reading until I had finished it.Although more light hearted than Gringa,it does contain profanities, racial slurs, drug taking and some violence and is therefore suited to those aged 18 and over.

In Burn’s World, we witness the trials and tribulations of Burn, an American of mixed race, from her teenage to her adult years. Her main source of both joy and heartbreak is the love she develops for two men who are polar opposites, thus creating the classic love triangle. She also has to grapple with a ‘special gift’ she has inherited, giving the story a paranormal twist.

When the tale begins, Burn and her little sister Angel are living with their aunt Carlene and her two daughters, where they have lived since the death of her parents. Carlene is a tramp and her daughters are lazy and selfish and all three are happy to let Burn keep house and hold down a part-time job on top of her school work. Burn does all this so that Angel, the sister she adores, does not go without.

At school Burn is the butt of many a racist remark, especially from a group of white boys led by Bud McGraw. She meets Brody McGraw, the school heartthrob and all American boy and they fall in love. Brody is Burn’s first boyfriend and she is ecstatic. However, what will happen to their love as Brody’s parents do not approve of a girl of mixed race? Also what of badass Trojan, who takes an interest in Burn after he spies Burn with Brody after his gang had a run in with Brody and his cousins? This book sets the series up for a tale which is both tragic and heart warming. The resulting love triangle had me hooked from start to finish and made me laugh, cry and feel every emotion in between.

Burn is a great heroine, sassy and strong, with an inner goodness that shines through and Brody and Trojan are great characters too, I really felt the love that they had for Burn. You will need to read the rest of the series to find out what happens and if you do you will not be disappointed.

There is also a fantastic cast of supporting characters, from Burn’s skanky aunt, to her cousins, friends and co-workers. Of special mention are Hawk and Erro, who are connected with Burn’s special gift. I love Eve Rabi’s characters, as they embrace all types of human strengths and frailties and the plot highlights these traits in the extreme, making for an entertaining and insightful read. Her characters are not perfect, they do not always make the right decisions or act within the law, but they are all the more believable and lovable because of it.

I recommend this series to those who like an emotional and sometimes hilarious read, full of romance, mayhem and vibrant characters.

A copy of the Burn’s World series was given to me by the author for the purpose of providing an honest and fair review.

Burn's World was a great read. I was looking for something light with a little humor. Though there are some very emotional and disturbing moments in the book, Burn did get some chuckles out of me.

Burn and her sister Angel live with their aunt and her two daughters. Burn is 17 and has way too much responsibility for a 17 year old (and she has been taking care of herself and her sister long before this age).

Burn's life is going on like normal (normal for her life) until several events turn our happy go luck Burn into a confused and brokenhearted Burn. She is pursed by two men, both with their own life issues, she has a guardian angel and a fiery (her words) godmother and then there is the gift.

I will warn you that there are a lot of things in this book that rub people the wrong way (racial slurs, stereotyping, racial issues, cursing, abuse (emotional, physical), child endangerment, sex, abortions) but I think it stays and shows the world and life that the Burns' of the world live. I found myself wondering, "Where are these kids parents?" a lot. It was explained for the most part, why all these kids seemed to raising themselves be it because they were privileged, the parents/guardian just didn't care or were not around.

The ending I sure did not expect. I thought Burn would have made better choices but then again, she is only 17/18 so...
I will definitely be reading part II; I have to see how this will end, though I have an idea.

There are some errors and though the story has some paranormal elements, I feel it would have done just as well without, though the fiery godmother was just as crazy as Burn.

Burn is a seventeen-year-old girl with most of the responsibilities of an adult. She lives with her aunt, who is as immature as her daughters, spending her time drinking and doing drugs instead of being a responsible adult. Burn is the one who has to take care of her younger sister, clean the house, buy the groceries with the income from her part time job, plus go to school. School is yet another difficult thing for Burn. She is of mixed race and she is constantly tormented by her fellow peers.

Then she meets Brody. A wealthy, handsome guy who makes her feel things that she has never felt before. But when Brody steps over the line, with her heart breaking, Burn breaks up with him. And when he turns violent, his parents are forced to send him away.

But when Brody's rival begins to court Burn, she finds herself mixed up in a crazy love triangle. Since he has always wanted but Brody has, she is forced to promise him her virginity when she turns eighteen. But why is she so attracted to this dangerous, violent gang member? She soon discovers that things aren't always what they seem, and when he helps her out of a difficult situation with her baby sister, Burn finds herself falling in love with the man she sold her virginity to.

Until Brody re-enters her life and sweeps her off her feet. But how will this affect her deal? And will she ever escape this creepy love triangle?

First off i'd recommend anyone wanting to read or buying this book to buy the whole series at once or the box set of complete series, because you will NOT be able to stop reading till the conclusion of the story!!!!!
welcome to burns world where she falls hopelessly in love with Brody McGraw, rich, advantaged, elitist, all star athlete, and welcome to Trojan Catrell, poor, gangster, devil and a guy who loves her completely and would do anythin for her.
All is well till McGraws family remind you of the intricasies of life and predjuices!!! This book covers deep emotional and life issues, and i can't think anyone who reads this would not be affected PREPARE YOURSELF FOR A HECK OF AN EMOTIONAL RIDE AND MANY TEARS AND JOY!

I totally enjoyed this book, even though at times it was a difficult emotional read. It was impossible to read without getting emotionally involved in these characters and has you sitting on edge of your seat the whole way through.
i can't recommend it enough, you know a book is great when you have a book hangover and feel the emotions of it days later and the characters and their lives almost come alive for you.

thank you eve for sharing this talent!!!
LOVED IT LOVED IT!!!!

Engrossing, a very modern, cool story

I’ve read Eve Rabi books before and when I saw this new series I thought I would give it a try. I’m pleased I did because it’s huge fun. There are some hilarious moments and the author has captured the teenage essence of her character so that you actually start thinking she’s real. There’s definitely some social comment in the story but coupled with the fun, the sass and the courage of Burn this is a great read. I loved the ‘paranormal’ element. I loved the teenage love element. Brody is beautifully described. The first time he and Burn make love is so well done. The dialogue in the whole story is spot on almost as if the author has lived this kind of life. This story will appear to young adults as well as young at heart. (Mature themes, though) There’s some deeper emotions in the book too with heartbreak, worry, angst and danger, but overall this is a wild ride. I’ll be reading the whole series.

4.5 stars!

Another great book from Eve Rabi. I'm impressed! She really knows how to write something that will affect you. Ghad, this book made me laugh, angry, sad and i liked it.

BURN, BURN,...I want you to BURN in hell! You're a cheating dumb bitch. Wtf is wrong with you?? Please, make up your mind. You are the most annoying heroine that I've ever known. Lucky you, i like your witty attitude and the love you give to your sister.
I just wanna say that I'm team Brody until the end of this series. I'm sorry that I switched to Trojan's team when Brody went AWOL. I hurt for Trojan, I felt his pain after what Burn did to him. Really, i was fuming mad!
After all that he had done??? Shame on her.

At this point I am putting the book down. I am not sure why I have no interest in this book but I'm honestly bored. I have read several of her books. I have always been swept in by the roller coaster ride of activities but I feel like I'm riding the city transport bus to work at 5 in the morning. Yawn! Spoiler ahead. The paranormal aspect?! The mind reading. I don't remember that in the synopsis?! Maybe I missed it but I think it put me off. I just couldn't get interested in it. I have loved other books by this author and maybe I can come back to it but it's a dnf right now.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Not quite 5 stars, and then we lose an entire star for the mind reading thing that went basically nowhere (of course, there are multiple parts to the story, so we'll see?), but in terms of good high school love drama, it's EXCELLENT! I read it for the "love triangle" category of the 2015 challenge and I'm glad I did. I might have to go ahead and start on the second book! We can put it in the "high school" category... she's 18 now but still in school, right. Right.

Liked it

Although I liked this book and found it enjoyable, I was really turned off by some things. When a man tells you that he wants you because he "wants everything Brody has," you stay the hell away, no matter what!!!! Also if she really cared about her sister, then sixteen or not stay away from alcohol and drugs!! Once I can understand, maybe even twice, but it was continuous and reckless.
