Lucius Annaeus Seneca (often known simply as Seneca or Seneca the Younger); ca. 4 BC – 65 AD) was a Roman Stoic philosopher, statesman, and dramatist of the Silver Age of Latin literature. He was tutor and later advisor to emperor Nero, who later forced him to commit suicide for alleged complicity in the Pisonian conspiracy to have him assassinated.

Another complete works from Delphi

I did not read it all, but referenced many sections regarding specific topics or Philosophical concepts. It is worth having for reference.

“On the Happy Life” Like some others, I acquired this collection primarily to peruse the sections of his Stoic philosophy. The other works are also of interest, but I have read some earlier, and they are not necessarily of better fictional quality than modern tales simply due to their age.
However, I highly recommend everyone to read at least the essay “On a Happy Life” as perhaps one of the clearest secular descriptions of the dangers inherent in the attitudes and lifestyles endemic today. There is a good reason that many modern adages are derived from ancient philosophers. We may have similar insights as well, but they were the first to record these ideas.
The unfortunate observation of history is that despite millennia of access to these teachings, we are in no better condition (and possibly worse!) than the societies in which this philosopher was living. I believe that there is also a spiritual component and authority in human existence, but regardless, this essay in twenty-eight short sections should be a common touchstone for people of any worldview to compare with their own ambitions and actions.
