Oh Xavier Cruz… I have been waiting for your book since Inflame. And you were so worth the wait! All Tessa’s books have that sweet, sexy, easy to read vibe that I love. And my favorite thing about this book (besides Xavier being a single dad… that just melts my heart) is that I loved the heroine just as much as the hero! Kallie was fabulous. They are my favorite couple out of all her books!
Intoxicate starts with two words that Xavier never expected to hear and Kalli never expected to say… Marry me
But lets rewind a bit… Kalli and Xavier met about 10 years ago. When Kalli was just 16 and Xavier came home from basic training with his buddy Kale (Kalli’s older brother). Kalli fell hard for Xavier then and there. But she was too young and he was a newly single father. Xavier has always and will always put his daughter first. And thats one thing that Kalli loves the most about him.
Six months before the ‘marry me’ moment, and Kalli and Xavier are living in the same town. Since Kalli is a teacher and off in the summers, she is helping with Lily while Xavier is at work. I love the dynamic of Lily and Kalli. And the three of them together.
There are circumstances in the six months between Kalli moving to Clarksville and those two little words that unfold throughout the story. And I loved watching it happen.
This isn’t your traditional romance. When one of the mc’s has a child and they’re involved in their life, it makes things difficult. Dating is different than when you’re both single and free of those types of responsibilities. I love how understanding Kalli was. She loved Xavier for many reasons, and being a good parent was one of them.
Kalli is strong, determined, kind and giving. Xavier is a sexy soldier, caring son and an amazing father. I loved both Kalli and Xavier- and I really loved how they interacted together.
This had the perfect amount of steam- not an overkill, but enough to keep me satisfied. Xavier and Kalli were hot together- I especially liked all the build up. I love a healthy dose of sexual tension ;)
A brothers best friend book. A single sexy dad and an amazing heroine. What is not to love about this? I adore Tessa’s writing style and how her stories are always so consistently good. They are never too angsty and always leave me with a happy heart and a smile on my face. If you love that feeling too and you’re looking for a sweet and sexy read with the perfect amount of emotion- pick this one up! Xavier and Kalli’s story is one of my favorites in this series and one that I highly recommend!

I’ve been in love with Xavier Cruz since I was sixteen years old. What started off as a silly schoolgirl crush turned into the full blown head over heels love me forever type of infatuation the moment I saw him holding his baby girl, Lily, in his arms.

FIVE LOVE ME FOREVER STARS.

How can I possibly introduce my feelings for this authors writing without sounding repetitive? I think it's safe to say that those that know me already have an understanding for how much I adore this author. I'll try my best not to sound like a rookie fan girl writing this review, but apologies upfront for my predictable gushing over Tessa Teevan. (Note the word 'Try'). I have loved this series from the start and although I have found my favourites along the way, each book has unquestionably found it's own place in my book heart. I've been looking forward to, ok I admit stalking Tessa for Xavier's book from his first sighting, there was something about that character that I knew instantly I'd fall in love with and did Teevan let me down? Nope, she actually surprised the coffee beans out of me and made me not only love Xavier but his leading lady too. Yes readers here's a book where there is zero, zilch, nada to not love about and I for one am giddy exited that Tessa Teevan has published yet another stunner proving just exactly why she's a Lisa Jayne Favourite. Here's some other thoughts ... (Told you I'd be over the top).
What did I love?
The vulnerable but slightly 'clueless in love' hero with a heart almost as big as his special forces muscles is loved on the sidelines by the younger sister of his best friend. Can you hear my loud sigh of bliss? Yes readers it's that good or in actual fact way better than I could ever describe. I don't know about you but I can never resist the unrequited love story that hosts the 'Little sister of the best friend' story and that is exactly what Teevan delivers here. Nothing melts my heart faster than the agony of a love story waiting to be understood by two characters who are truly meant to be, who have to overcome obstacles (and themselves) to finally realise that what they have been waiting for is right there all along. Throw into the mix, a fake marriage, a favourite female lead of all time, a father/daughter relationship that would melt the stoniest of hearts, sexual chemistry that you won't regret reading about and an ending that will win you over and you've just about got all of this book wrapped up in a nutshell. (But obviously it's so much more). I can't help but love everything about this book and there's not much more to say other than, I can't recommend this novel enough. Mr moody/broody/indecisive but thoroughly delicious and irresistible will always be a favourite of mine and as for his leading lady it doesn't get better than Kalliope Montgomery, she will go down in my romance reading history as favourite ever heroine. Don't miss out, this book (and series) is begging to be read by fellow romance addicts and I'm already excited to plan the re read of one of my favourite's from 2015.

Readers, for those of you who love a well rounded contemporary romance with lots of sweet, a nice amount of heat and characters that will happily make you fall in love, this will be the book for you. Xavier Cruz (that name is almost as sexy as he is) and Kalliope Montgomery really stole the show for me in this series and if I was a gambling girl I could place bets on it that readers who have been following this series will not be disappointed in the latest from the 'Explosive' series. Those who are new to this author and are considering reading this series, what are you waiting for? There's nothing not to love, but you do need to be aware that Knox and Xavier will always be mine. (Yes, I'm the annoying reader who lays claim to a fictional character ... Or two). Wonderfully romantic and as heart melting as it gets 'intoxicate' won my heart and I'm hoping it will win you over too. It's ready for a one click, enjoy ... Kisses.

I'm totally floating on a book love cloud this morning. I'm going to be honest, I didn't think I was going to love Xavier's book. He wasn't around as much as the other characters in the previous books to form any kind of interest in him. I should know by now, to never doubt Tessa's ability to write a story that will make you fall in love with her characters. She writes so well that you get attached to all of the secondary characters and there are so many that I become greedy and want a book for all of them.
I fell so hard for Xavier, and I know that once you all get your hands on this book, you will too!!!
The theme of this story is one of my faves. A romance with the older brother's best friend. Kalli Montgomery has been in love with Xavier ever since she was 16 years old. When he became a single father at the age of 21 and made his daughter, Lily, his top priority, she fell even harder for the man.
Xavier has also held on to a long time crush for Kalli. He was a goner the first time he met her but had to quickly shut down his feelings when he found out she was only 16. It didn't help that she was also Kale's little sister.
The story starts off with Xavier and Kalli in bed together in their Vegas hotel room. They got married the night before and had steamy hot passionate sex on their wedding night. The whole gang finds out the next morning and then Kalli and Xavier must take everyone back six months earlier to explain why they ended up tying the knot in Vegas.
The marriage was Kalli's idea to help Xavier out with a personal matter. I don't want to give too much away, so that's all I will mention about it. What is obvious is that there is no way these two can keep the marriage "strictly platonic", like they had planned.
This book had me feeling like I was going to combust from all the sexual tension. Tessa definitely is a master at "delayed gratification". I wanted Kalli and Xavier to get it on so badly. I don't know how Kalli didn't just jump him during one of the many nights he would crawl into her bed just to cuddle and sleep with her!! Don't even get me started on all the times Xavier would say something in Spanish to her. OMG, my panties were definitely melting for this Latin lover!!
I think that this is my favorite book in the series. It had enough angst, wonderful secondary characters, a kick ass heroine, and an utterly swoonworthy hot alpha military man! Ladies, definitely one click this book when it comes out on January 29th.

In the past few months I have binge read this series, then I started harassing Tessa about when we would finally get this book. This book hits a ton of my favorite types of reads: forbidden love, brother’s best friend, and a single dad. I knew there was no way I wouldn’t love this one, but I was blown away at just how happy this book made me.
We met Xavier Cruz in the prior books, the thing that stood out to me was what a fantastic father he is. Even being in the military and having to leave for extended period of times he still puts his daughter first. That is a huge deal to me. So often we hear about dad’s leaving, but in this situation Lily’s mom actually left her as a baby. Xavier could have easily passed Lily off on his mother, but it was important to him to be her dad and actively parent her. Now ten years later, Xavier is still making sure Lily’s needs are met.
Kalli Montgomery is one of Kale’s (from Inflame) sisters. Kalli is such a special person, she has such a giving heart and kind spirit, but she is also lively and fun. She first met Xavier when he came home with her brother when she was sixteen years old. I can totally relate to the sixteen year old Kalli, I can imagine the butterflies she felt and the excitement at seeing her brother’s hot best friend.
Kalli even as a young girl could see the value in a man that put is daughter first, so from that moment he was more then just a hot guy. When Xavier first met Kalli he thought she was beautiful and wanted to get to know her, that is until he realized she was underage. Xavier immediately moved Kalli into another category of off limits, but that didn’t mean he was blind to watching her grow into a successful, sexy woman.
Intoxicate starts off with a bang and I had a huge smile on my face when this bomb dropped:
"Because this girl, who’s been off limits for so damn long, she married me last night. Kalli Montgomery, my best friend’s little sister, is now my wife. And I know exactly what I was thinking.
Naturally I was hooked at this point, I wanted to know what happened and how we got here. First, I am so glad this isn’t a we were drunk and woke up married situation, no this was a planned Vegas wedding.
From here the story switches to six months prior and we learn how events unfolded.
Kalli has decided to move to Clarksville to be closer to her newborn nephew, and she is honest and admits Xavier and Lily may have been a little bit of an incentive too. Since Xavier’s mom is going to be visiting Kalli’s mom at the beach Xavier hires Kalli to watch Lily while he is at work. Of course, Kalli is up for this, but she is also putting herself in a position to be broken. Because it is just for the summer and then she will go back to living without being apart of their daily lives.
I will not go too into the plot because I don’t want to spoil the story, so I will leave you there and discuss the things I loved.
Xavier and Lily, I loved their relationship and how they interacted. Throughout the story Lily is growing up, while it is just six months she is at that preteen age, so there was plenty of comical relief and I loved her little moments of sass. My heart also broke for Lily and her desire to have a mom. Kalli and Lily’s relationship was perfect. Kalli never tried to insert herself into a mother’s position, but was there for Lily to help her through some girl moments. She also loved her like a daughter, and wanted to do anything she could for her. Kalli was completely selfless in her love.
"Kalli, I love that you love my daughter, but she had you all summer. Now its my turn.
Xavier and Kalli, oh I can’t begin to describe how much I loved these two. Xavier was completely unprepared for a relationship. He hasn’t dated in years, then throw in dating Kalli a girl he sees as perfect he was a mess. Things weren’t always pretty, but in the same respect I could completely understand his blunders and how things were handled just made me love him more. Xavier gave it his all and wanted to be perfect, and that is quality is so sexy in a hero.
This story is definitely one of my favorites, it had all the elements I love with none of the unnecessary drama that drives me insane. Now don’t get me wrong this isn’t one of the quick sweet stories, there were definitely moments of anger and angst, but they kept me engaged and made the connection and love more real. Life isn’t perfect no one knows that better then Xavier, but in Kalli he found his perfect partner.
I highly recommend this story, it is beautifully written, the characters are relatable and lovable. Intoxicate had me guessing, laughing, swooning, and it definitely brought the sexy.

Xavier and Kalli, oh I can’t begin to describe how much I loved these two. Xavier was completely unprepared for a relationship. He hasn’t dated in years, then throw in dating Kalli a girl he sees as perfect he was a mess. Things weren’t always pretty, but in the same respect I could completely understand his blunders and how things were handled just made me love him more. Xavier gave it his all and wanted to be perfect, and that is quality is so sexy in a hero.
This story is definitely one of my favorites, it had all the elements I love with none of the unnecessary drama that drives me insane. Now don’t get me wrong this isn’t one of the quick sweet stories, there were definitely moments of anger and angst, but they kept me engaged and made the connection and love more real. Life isn’t perfect no one knows that better then Xavier, but in Kalli he found his perfect partner.
I highly recommend this story, it is beautifully written, the characters are relatable and lovable. Intoxicate had me guessing, laughing, swooning, and it definitely brought the sexy.

This couple has such an intense, beautiful relationship that kept me wanting more. As usual Tessa Teevan wrote yet another 5 star fabulous book! She consistently writes books I love, but this one especially hit the mark for me being a hot, Spanish single dad, who is not only a sexy soldier, but big brother's best friend! I really love the brother's best friend stories. I also enjoyed getting more of yummy Kale! I hope we also get a book for Kalli's twin sister Kaylie! :D

For the last ten years Kalli and Xavier have been hiding their feelings for each other. Not only she’s his best-friend younger sisters, but he’s also a single father with responsibilities.
When something happens that could eventually risk the future of Xavier with his daughter, the best thing he and Kalli think off is to get married… with each other. After all, they are friends and Kalli loves his daughter. They have only one rule: Don’t fall in love.
But when a fake wedding begging to feel very real and feelings that were there before only grow more, how long will take them to break the rules?
If you’re not a fan of “cotton candy” romance, go away. This is not for you.
This is a sweet, romantic, steamy and low on drama romance that will warm your heart, grow butterflies on your stomach and leave you wanting for more.
It started at their wedding and then it went back in time to explain how they got there, the story is very well constructed and amazingly written.
If you’re looking for a great romance story, this is definitely a good choice.

Characters Development: First let me tell that isn’t usual for me to love the heroine. Normally they have some attitude that will eventually become annoying at my eyes. This book was not the case. I loved Kalli! She was sweet, loyal and fierce and she supported Xavier trough everything. If that isn’t the meaning of a good wife, I don’t know what it is. Xavier was also great. He was no Knox, but he came in a close second. I loved how sweet and respectful of Callie he was. I only wish he had opened his eyes a little but sooner! Lily was a sweet girl and I liked seeing more of Kale and Lucy.

5 Me encantó stars!!
IT'S LIVE!!! Amazon!!
I wasn’t surprised that I’d end up loving this one. There is just something about Tessa Teevan’s writing that I love. Her stories are always sweet and Sexy and the story line just sucks you in write from the get go. And it goes without saying, but bears repeating, I love this series!! And I absolutely loved this book. In addition to falling head over heels in love with Xavier and Kalli I fell in love with Lily too. How could I not. I’ll explain a little later in my review.
I had been looking forward to reading Xavier and Kalli’s story. We got bits and pieces of both of them in the other books, just enough to peek my curiosity but I truly didn’t expect all the goodness they gave me.
Xavier ~ There was so much to love about this guy. He was a “half-Hispanic,six-foot-two, super-sexy man in a uniform” and when those sexy Spanish words rolled off his tongue, OMG they melted my heart. There is also something so endearing and sexy about a single loving Dad.
Kalli ~ I think she is my favorite of the ladies in this series. I loved that she lived her life in the present. No looking back and no looking too far into the future. She knew what she wanted and was willing to give all of herself at the risk of losing the one person she has truly loved. She was beautiful, sexy and so warmhearted. I loved how she loved Lily. :)
Unrequited love is a tough thing. And for Kalli she has gone a long time thinking her love for Xavier was just that. In most ways it was. But as the saying goes, the heart wants what the heart wants, and sometimes you have to risk it all.
There is isn’t anything Kalli wouldn’t do for Xavier and when she is faced with making a decision that would irrevocably change her future and quite possibly be more than her heart can handle she doesn’t think twice.
Xavier is her brother Kale’s best friend and someone that she has loved for a long time. But Xavier has always guarded his feeling for her, keeping her at a comfortable distance. But time has passed and Kalli is no longer that 16 year girl. She is a beautiful 27 year old woman. And one summer everything changes.
For Kalli the decision to marry Xavier and become Lilly’s stepmom was such a natural one. While spending the summer caring for Lily they became a family of sorts. Sweet Lilly was precious. The moments these two created were something special. Kalli had loved Lilly before and now Lilly was embedded in her heart. She knew Xavier’s love for his daughter was undeniable. She was his world. And when a piece of Xavier’s life was starting to fall apart she knew what she had to do.
Xavier and Kalli begin to explore their new relationship, setting boundaries that they hoped they could keep. Kalli had the advantage though. She knew she loved Xavier and jumped in with both feet. Xavier was unprepared. He had Lily to think about, feelings for Kalli that he has suppressed for years and a sense of control that he could feel slipping. This wasn’t going to be easy.
I loved how this story starts out. The Prologue is absolutely amazing. Then from there you are brought back six months. As Xavier and Kalli’s relationship unfolds be prepared for pretty sensual moments. The “anticipation” is killer and I was dying along with Kalli. The whispers, the cuddling and everything in between gave me shivers. I’d tempt you with a few quotes but for this one you should read them for the first time in the context of the story. YOU WILL LOVE THEM.
And it wasn’t just about these two. You have Lily that brought so much to the story. And Xavier’s mom, I loved their relationship. Oh and Lucy and Kale were very much present in the story too. I’m not going to lie, there were tears in this one for me. But Tessa took great care with this family. :)
One other thing I love about TT is that she always gives you a playlist at the end of her stories. I always download them on Spotify. This time I was able to listen to the songs while reading and I loved it. Here are some of my favorites on the Intoxicate Playlist.

I was dying to get this book. Finally, getting the mysterious Xavier…the family man…the stone cold military machine…the sexy beast…what was his story? How in the world would this play out? While he was always on my radar and I was ready have him rock my world, I was completely in a tailspin as it was the feisty, larger than life Kalli Montgomery who intoxicated me.
Inevitable they say. Ten years is a long time to crush on someone! Each year the infatuation deepened. The chemistry escalated. Now, Kalli is all grown up, a far cry from the 16 yr old little sister of Kale Montgomery! Xavier Cruz is in a stable place with daughter and possibly ready to focus on himself for once. Time for some intervention? Time for a Push? Game on!
Well, let’s just say this starts out with a WOW! A happy beginning that screams potential scene from “The Hangover.” I was cheering and whooping it up with just the prologue…Then we get the rest of the tale!
**I am going to put this out there first and foremost…if you don’t like a good push-pull, if you are not a fan of one step forward-3 steps back, if you cannot handle the waiting game and the anticipation of something good, if you don’t love a good AHA moment…YOU MAY NEED A BEVERIDGE to read the progression of Kalli and Xavier.
This attraction started some 10 years earlier with two characters always connecting through the foundation of family and the security of friendship. I would expect nothing less than a struggle to grasp onto more, esp. from Xavier whose libido is rocked around a very grown up Kalli. Smack dab in his life everyday as his daughter’s nanny, she is spending the whole summer in his home leading to a whole lotta flirting and great innuendo…but action…NOPE! Come on man…Kallie Montgomery has the patience of a saint and the vagina of a nun after dealing with this man! Intoxicate needs a hazard tag reading - WARNING: SEXUAL FRUSTARATION AHEAD!
Overall, I feel as if Tessa Teevan stepped out of the box with this tale and created a fabulously fun story. This had a great blend of sweet and heat while delivering Light flirty humor and deep emotional connections. This truly was a coming of age for Xavier who has seemingly already lived a lifetime. Lessons learned and love accepted as Kallie stands in and stands strong for him and his daughter. I love that for once, a man was vulnerable. Xavier’s character had baggage. He needed support and he craved comfort. I love that a young, smart, good hearted woman was the weapon he needed for any battle he was to face. OH but WHEN will he take that chance? When will he “GET IT”? 10 years is a long time to keep the flame burning right?
OH HELL! Pick up this book and get lost for a while. I promise that you will become a fan of the concept of ANTICIPATION and you will revel in the “FINALLY” moments!

This series has turned out to be amazing. I'm loving the vast cast of characters in it. This book is Xavier's story with Kalli (Knox's sister). However we still get the couples from the previous books, too.
I was up and down with this book, simply because my head hurt from the back and forth of the on again off again feelings Xavier had.
I enjoyed it because of Kalli's determination of not giving up on Xavier. She tried over and over again to prove what they could be and what they already were to both her and to Lily. But god did I want to smack Xavier so hard on his head, cause he was yes and then no and then yes and then no... sooo many times..... then boom, it came together beautifully. 5 stars to Kalli for sticking it out, staying true to her feelings. 3 stars to you Xavier for making me almost break my kindle, but your looks alone boost it way up there for me.
But over all this was a good story, it was beautiful and I enjoyed it overall.

3.5 What Was Destined To Be Stars * * * 1/2
Tessa Teevan writes books which give us relatable people who have been involved in the Military and are part of warm loving families. We become invested in their trials, their joys and their relationships. When we do not have a book about them on our e-reader, we miss them... and anticipate when we can learn more with every new release.
This was the long awaited story of Kalli and Xavier. Kalli has been in love with him since she was 16 years old. He has been it for her. Over the years, it never changed. There were a couple of other things which never changed either....
A- Xavier is her older brother's best friend.
B- Xavier is older than Kalli by a few.
C- Did I mention, He is her older brother's best friend.
So, with those factors in play and Kalli being Kalli.... she would always make sure she had boyfriends over when Xavier was visiting... Did she care about the boys dying for a kiss or more from her... Hell No... They were props so that Xavier could see she wasn't kid sister material any more...
Did it work.... Well Yes... and No.
Yes- Because Xavier has always wanted Kalli but hid it as her older brother was his best friend.
Yes- Because she was a spitfire, sweet and so damn cute he couldn't take it.
No- Because he had NO IDEA she was only 16 when he first saw her!
No- Because as she matured past 18, he was dying with jealousy he had to hide when around her with her Damn Boyfriends.
No- Because Kale, his best friend would kill him for the thoughts he had about Kalli.
So we have these two- both love each other.
Both really want to be together but only one of them actually understands their feelings about the other...
I offer you 3 guesses and the first two don't count- Yup- You are correct- Kalli- she knows she loves him... has waited 10 years for the chance to show him and now is her time. She is moving and working in the same city as Xavier and he is going to need her help.
Because there is an added element to this story; Xavier is a single dad. Yup, he has the most amazing daughter, Lilly, and he has been raising her primarily by himself. Oh, his mom has been there every step of the way....but Xavier has been the most devoted dad.
From the first moment of her birth, all Xavier has done was think how everything would impact his daughter... and through the abandonment of her mother to the development of her from infancy to now a young girl of 10, Xavier has sacrificed for her. No multiple relationships for her to muddle through, no late nights out drinking and having fun like other men his age. He was wrapped up in his beautiful daughter with the support of his mom as back up for him and this was his life.
But in this life, Kalli was always a factor... either babysitting Lily, playing with her or just being there ... part of the crew. Oh, and the crew could see what Xavier was blind to... That these two were meant to be together and eventually it would happen.
This book had all the trademark crafting of Teevan. The people were humane and caring. There was some angst and plenty of sizzle. The two characters were very hot together and mostly were enjoyable. I did have some issues, though, with a lot of the back and forth in their relationship. It became a bit trying for me even though all of the reasons were presented well.
Overall, it was a solid Teevan read, just not her best... for me. There is lots to adore; Xavier when he is wooing Kalli, Lilly is wonderful and the Grandmothers rock.
There will be more coming.... I am not sure as to which character from this group... but I do know I will have my e-reader posed and ready.

Once again, I'm the odd woman out with this book. This is a crowd favorite, the whole series, really. But I didn't like the first book and although I liked this more than that one, it was still a very 'meh' read for me. I'll just explain why I didn't like it much because hey, so many others did and it's probably best to read it for yourself since my issues all have to do with personal taste.
Kalli was an alright heroine. She was caring and selfless, funny, sweet....but she was also a little too out there for me. I found her approach to pursuing Xavier very ruthless and over the top. She pushed him in the direction she wanted, she was manipulative. I understand Xavier needed the extra push. But I'll get into why I didn't like him much next. For me, Kalli was not my favorite type of heroine. Things she said, did, it was all a little too in your face.
Xavier came across as a weak, conflicted and indecisive man. I understood his predicament with having Lily and all, but at the end of the day he was weak and had to be pushed into actually doing something to secure Kalli. That's a huge turn off for me. I like my hero's to have balls, the unequivocal determination to go after the women they love and want. It would have been okay if he started out not actively chasing Kalli then going full out on his own, but even when he did finally confess his feelings and intentions he did it by being manipulated by Kalli.
The story was okay. There wasn't much going on other than Xavier and Kalli. I wished there would have been a stronger secondary cast presence to break up the monotony, or a secondary plot but there you have it. I finished by forcing myself, though the last 10% was good.
I've chalked this up to not liking the characters and being bored with the story--the same issues I had with the first book--but this is a series that many people love so don't take my word for it. Thanks for the rec Sharon! It truly was a 'it was me not you' situation! <3

4 ME GUSTA STARS
Xavier and Kalli ♥.
Xavier's story! FINALLY. Hands down one of my favorite series and I've come to love this group. It wasn't my favorite in the series nonetheless it was still INTOXICATING. I love how Tessa Teevan took a whole other turn with this one and started the story BACKWARDS (GAVE ME SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TOO)! It had me on edge and I just remember thinking "ARE THEY GOING TO GET TOGETHER NOW? , HOW BOUT KNOW? , KISS ALREADY. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR XAVIER YOU INFURIATING MAN GROW A PAIR"! Kalli .. this girl has been harboring this crush for TOO LONG good for her for doing something about it !!

Oh Xavier....
Everyone knows that Knox is my top bbf Tessa has every written BUT Xavier is for sure number 2! He was dreamy!!
Even though I love Knox THIS book and THIS couple is the best of this series.
I know some people are nervous after reading the blurb that Kalli is a door mat.
It's just not true. She didn't sit around waiting for him to wake up for 10 years. Not at all. In fact I thought she was one of the strongest chick's Tessa has written so far.
As for Xavier, if you are a parent you will get him. It's hard when you have to take their life into account when getting involved with someone.
The hotness was upped in this book too!
Read the book! You're gonna love it <3

Intoxicate is the 4th book in the Explosive series and this time around it is Xavier and Kalli's story.
Xavier Cruz has been a single dad for the last 10 years putting his life on hold to raise his daughter Lily with the help of his Ma and best friend Kale Montgomery, all he does is spend time with Lily, work, gym and goes out once/twice a month with Kale and the guys.
Kalli Montgomery has been in love with Xavier since she was sixteen and when she's twenty seven she decides she is going to get her man. She moves close to Xavier and she becomes Lily's nanny over the summer.
They spend time together getting to know each other without anyone else being around but they decide to take things slow it's all about the anticipation. After the summer when Kalli starts her new job things stay the same until they go to Vegas and everything changes between them.
I liked both Xavier and Kalli, I just got frustrated with Xavier for the way he kept changing his mind about Kalli that is why I took 1* away. I loved Lily she was SO CUTE and it was great catching up with all the gang again and I loved the epilogue.

I LOVED this one! Best Tessa book yet in my opinion. Her writing seems to get better and better with each book and that's a beautiful thing for those of us who are lovers of Contemporary romance. Longer review to come maybe, hopefully.

4.5 Crazy Girl Stars
Kalliope "Kalli" Montgomery has had a crush on Xavier Cruz since she was sixteen years old and her brother, Kale, brought Xavier, twenty-one and new father of Lily Cruz, to visit. That was over ten years ago. Now Kalli is a first grade teacher, moving to Clarksville, Tennessee to be closer to Kale, his girlfriend Lucy and their new baby, Jacob.
The summer before she is to start her new job, she becomes nanny to ten year old Lily, which brings her within the daily sphere of Xavier. Xavier has been able to keep his distance over the year, keeping Kalli firmly in the friend (best-friends little sister) zone. But having Kalli close by and Lily falling in love with her isn't helping his resolve to stay away.
At the same time, with meddling relatives and friends, these two have now choice but to come together. When Xavier's past threatens their peaceful existence the two of them come together to protect what they have as well as Lily.
I think Kalli had the patience of a saint. Xavier's push pull was making me crazy. He kept saying lets go slow. How much slower could they go. I mean they'd known each other for ten years.
I loved how Kalli was with Lily, protective and loving. And her nickname for her was adorable. When Xavier misunderstands something that happens and takes it out on Kalli, I was so sad for her. She was a much better person than I by accepting his apology so easily.
This was actually the best of the series for me. I loved the dual POV and how the story was told. I couldn't put it down and almost killed my eyes to get through it.
I am a little curious about something that Kalli said about her twin, Kaylie. What the heck is that suppose to mean?

Their relationship was just so damn boring! I felt absolutely no connection, passion, or love between Xavier and Kallie at all!
I'm glad I wasn't reading a book about unrequited but even her feelings for him should have fizzled out after she realized what a wet blanket he is! I respect the fact that Xavier was a single father that always put his daughter. First but stop stringing her along if you're too much of a wuss to move forward in your friendship/relationship.
I really need passion and that completely unrealistic kind of love and devotion in my romance and unfortunately I got none of that. Their relationship seemed (at least on Xavier's side) to be more a relationship of comfort and convenience rather than that "can't live without you" type of love.
I mean let's be real here. After Kallie offers her solution his first thought is she's:
"The best prospect I have."
And my personal favorite

I don't even think this book should have been allowed to star in the explosive series because here was nothing explosive about them as a couple. Intoxicate? Sure. That works. Because I found myself wondering how Kallie didn't end up at a bar and completely intoxicating herself over her shitty luck at ending up with a wet blanket like Xavier . LOL
I had to stop after is Jerkish response to Kallie's proposal to help. I just prefer it when the hero is actively pursuing the heroine and if not that then at least some kind of connection between the two. I hate to say it but I might even consider Kallie a bit of a doormat with how she allowed Xavier to string her along and use her whenever he needed her. Like oh ok well it works for me now so now I'll give you a tiny microscopic bit of attention.
I'll still read anything this author puts out but his one just wasn't for me.

This is a first Tessa Teevan read for me, and now I'm not sure why so. I have the first 2 books in this series as part of 2 different anthologies, and now, I'm thinking, heck, I better un-bury those from my to-read pile.
If you're looking for a break from dark/mind-screw reads, I think this is a pretty good direction to go. Kalli and Xavier's story is simple in a way. They have a history, something was there between them but nothing happened for valid reasons, then fast forward a few years, the pull is still there until it reached a point that s/he knows and even the people around them know, that something just had to happen. Not saying it's simplistic, of course, because the emotions involved are anything but simple. Other people's lives are involved so there a lot of factors to consider when making decisions.
I'll tell you what I really like with this. Kalli, the h. Throughout the story, Kalli was consistent with her thoughts, and her understanding of Xavier and what ever else is happening shows a lot of maturity and foresight without effort. I can tell she's a good person.
Xavier, the H, for a change is the one with more baggage to deal with, which affected a lot of his thoughts and actions. But at least he wasn't a total a$$ about it all. When he messed up, he owned up to it. And regardless of his indecisions when it came to Kalli, I give him credit for being the good father and son that he is.
While I didn't get the "pact" because in my head I'm thinking "who's kidding who!" (especially from Xavier's POV), I really enjoyed the dynamics between Kalli and Xavier. There is a naturalness to it that makes everything so relatable. It's sincere, sweet and quite loving. And the attraction between them was laid out quite yummily and oh so gooey! Melikey!!
The side characters, I'm assuming, are the MC's in the other books in this series. I guess I better get a move on it and read their stories now too!

I'm a huge fan of the Explosive series that I couldn't wait to read Xavier's story. I mean really, let's look at his stats:
1. He's a single loving father to Lilly (I find these type of men sexy)
2. He's a military man (I love a man in uniform)
3. He's got a smoking hot body (yes, come to momma)
4. He loves his mother (awesome trait)
5. and last, but not least, Mr. Xavier Cruz speaks sweet nothings in Spanish, (insert swooning action here)!
I knew going in that this was going to be a friends to lover story, which I'm a sucker for. So what could possibly go wrong? Wellllll, lets just say I wasn't to happy with the outcome!
Unfortunately, Xavier came across as weak and unsure about his relationship with Kalli! He was so hot and cold for her that I was completely turned off by his actions! Their relationship didn't need to be this difficult, it's not like he just met Kalli! They've known each other since she was 16, so I just wasn't buying it.
Then there is Kalli! For such a strong will girl, she put up with too much of Xavier's bull shit excuses that I was just done with the both of them.
There are parts of the book that I thought were good and those are the parts I wish the author would have included more of. For example, I really thought Angela was going to play a bigger part, but that wasn't the case. All well, I still love the other books in this series, but this one came up short for me :(

I have to admit, even though Tessa Teevan is one of my go to authors (given all of my triggers, that is a hard spot to fill), I was slightly nervous going into this one. I remember Xavier from his cameo's in other books, especially Kale's (which is my favorite!! hehe), but I don't remember much about his personal life except that he was a single dad to his adorable daughter, Lily, Now, I LOVE single parent romances. It is one of my favorite genres, but I absolutely HATE when if the hero is the single parent, he is portrayed as a man whore. (I may have also said that same thing in many of my reviews), but rest assured people! Xavier is NOT portrayed as such. It was SUCH a relief to me! Especially because at the end of Kale's book, we saw what seemed to be unrequited love on Kalli's part, but that wasn't really the case at all either, so I was extremely happy about that too!!! :)
Okay so as referenced above, Xavier is a single dad to his adorable daughter, Lilly. She is 10 years old going on thirty. He has been a single dad in the military since Lily was a little baby and was abandoned by her mother Angela. Thank God for Xavier's mom. She has always been his rock. He was a man and had his needs, but he only dated sporadically and casually. In fact, in the start of this book I loved how he always put his daughter first.
Anyway! I definitely got side tracked there LOL, but I feel like if I reveal anything else about the plot line that I will spoil the story, so I'll just say that this is Xavier and Kalli's love story. It is very low drama and low angst, which I also appreciated! If you enjoyed any of Tessa Teevan's other books, you will definitely enjoy this one!

I have to admit, even though Tessa Teevan is one of my go to authors (given all of my triggers, that is a hard spot to fill), I was slightly nervous going into this one. I remember Xavier from his cameo's in other books, especially Kale's (which is my favorite!! hehe), but I don't remember much about his personal life except that he was a single dad to his adorable daughter, Lily, Now, I LOVE single parent romances. It is one of my favorite genres, but I absolutely HATE when if the hero is the single parent, he is portrayed as a man whore. (I may have also said that same thing in many of my reviews), but rest assured people! Xavier is NOT portrayed as such. It was SUCH a relief to me! Especially because at the end of Kale's book, we saw what seemed to be unrequited love on Kalli's part, but that wasn't really the case at all either, so I was extremely happy about that too!!! :)

God I missed that feeling !! You know the one you feel after you finish a book that makes you so giddy you jump to review it (( Even if you have exams like 5 days from now !!))
I LOVED this book , it wasn't too fast or too slow , it was the perfect pace and I couldn't be happier with it .
I'm going to start with the heroine Kallie because it's truly rare to find an amazing heroine like her ! because lately I feel like authors either make the heroine basically 1) a doormat -who has no self respect whatsoever- or 2) too stubborn which is supposed to lead us to believe that she's strong rather than simply annoying.
But neither of those cases happened here . Because Kallie was just perfect as far as I'm concerned . She's strong , loyal , fun , with an amazing heart . You can easily relate to her , she's honest , she forgives when it feels like the right time and stands her ground when the situation calls for it.
She fought for Xavier without appearing desperate and her relationship with Lily was just heart warming !
And Xavier .. Yum ;) !! An army Father with a little girl whom he loves more than anything and who speaks spanish while making love ?! I mean seriously ? You can't help but love him and respect how much he thought about Lily before every decision he made. I understood why he was hot and cold sometimes , and of course it helped that we get his POV so we can relate to his inner conflicts . But nonetheless I adored him ;)
I really am busy so I'm gonna cut this short but I was just too excited not to write how happy I am with this book.
Finally A love story with the right amount of build up , a decent standup hero who happens to be an amazing father , and a strong lovable heroine .
PS. I forgot to mention :: the tension in this book !! WOW !! and when they finally get together , it's not just HOT , it's emotional , you could just feel the connection between them <3

Ok, so I know I'm in the minority, and not many agree with me, but as much as I loved Xavier...he was so washy-washy. I am not a fan of the weak back and forth, can't make up my mind kind of hero. I loved the kind of Father and friend he was, it was just the way he jerked Kalli around made me want to throat punch him. I do not think KalIi was a weak, door mat kind of heroine, she was awesome...I wish I had her restraint and strength. Over all I did enjoy this story and I love this series. Once Xavier as he said "pulled his head out of his ass" I was saying hallelujah. I hope miss Teevan writes Kaylie's story next. Those Montgomery women make me smile.

5 Me vuelves loco stars!
Sooo worth the wait!
Okay, I may be a tiny bit bias because I AM Tessa’s biggest fan but honestly this is one of the most well written books I have EVER read. Tessa has the most brilliant ability of capturing you with her words. I think I may have fallen in love with Xavier Cruz. Out of every book she has written, this one is my absolute, hands down, favorite. While all of her books are beautifully written, this one spoke to me. Xavier is not only a wonderful man with a huge heart, he is an amazing father to that little girl.
Kalliope has been in love with Xavier Cruz since she was just a little girl. Xavier has always had feelings for her but didn’t want to lose his best friends trust by acting on his feelings. Then whenever Lily came along and he became a single father, his life changed and Lily became his primary concern. Fate aligned, and now Kalliope is right around the corner. She offers to help with Lily while his mom is with Kalli’s mom spending the summer there.
Their love story unfolds and it’s captivating. I loved this book so much. I cried with Kalli, loved with Xavier and fell in love with their unforgettable romance. Tessa created a book that is mesmerizing, intense and passionate. There is no way after reading this you won’t fall in love with Xavier Cruz. He sure did steal my heart! He is charming, a gentleman and such a sweetheart. Buuuut he also has a dirty mouth that I love too;) I love when he speaks to her in Spanish. I melt. I also loved how sassy and independent Kalli was.
Perfect ending for one of my new favorite books!
I can’t wait to read more by her! Love you tessa!! <3

I was up and down with this book
I enjoyed it because of Kallie'S determination of not giving up on Xavier.
But then I wanted to smack Xavier so hard up his head, cause he was just yes and then no and then yes and then no...
But over all was a good story
