Beyond The Stars
Qamar has always been the baby of the family, the one everyone looks out for, but that hasn't made his life any easier. With dreams of becoming a professional soccer player, he's a college student struggling with imposter syndrome and the weight of his family's expectations. “Sh*t just f*cks me up because where the fuck can I take them when they already took it to the moon 🌖 ?……. Beyond the Stars ✨”
The year is now 2030 and baby bro has grown up. At least from an age perspective because Qamar still has some maturing to do. This was a highly anticipated read for me after I fell in love with these babies in “To the Moon”. If you’ve read then you know that Qamar was the baby of the moon bunch and if you haven’t read, then 🛑 and go do that ASAP!
Qamar was raised by his siblings and while his upbringing may have been unconventional, he lived a good life. His siblings poured into him in excess and made sure that their climb to the top was done with him right by their sides. Well with that climb came pressure for Qamar to find his own path and to be successful in a way that made the most sense to him and no one else. It only took one night at a party to cross paths with his “home” and the person destined to help him on that journey.
When there’s only one version of love you’ve ever known, a version that’s painful, abusive and selfish, it’s hard to trust what the good kind feels like, what the best kind looks like… so you run. For Siasia, she was doing what she had to in order to provide for her sister and some of those methods weren’t something she was proud of. Merging worlds with Qamar had her feeling like a fish out of water however, their journey only showed her that they weren’t so different after all.

A few misses for me in the story was not finding out the reasoning behind Janay and Qamar’s arrangement. There was clearly more to that story that met the eye and I waited on pins and needles for a bomb that was never dropped. I hated them not putting that school on blast after what Brenden did! I hate that I still feel like the bad guys “got away”. That “privilege” will always boil my blood. Lastly Ally just disappeared. I agree that she had real oppish behavior but after the call I assumed there would be closure… kinda sorta maybe?! 🤔

Our baby boy, Qamar is all grown up! His story takes place in 2030 and he's a college athlete that most would say is living the life of a spoiled, rich kid. His family has set him up to where he doesn't want for a thing, but the pressure on his shoulders to follow the path they've paved for him is too heavy. Add on having a child and another one on the way at 20, my boy was STRESSED.
At a campus party, he looks at Siasia and has to have her. The thing is, Siasia has some baggage of her own. She doesn't "come from money" like Qamar and she does what she feels she needs to do to make money (connect the dots) to pay for school, take care of her little sister Noodle, and keep the bills paid at home. She was dealing with a lot, and it reminded me of the load Luna had to carry when their brother Lunar passed. Qamar recognized that in her and I believe that's why she felt like "home" to him.
I loved the growth of these two. Qamar learned that he had to stand on his own, make his own decisions, and hold himself accountable. Siasia had to learn to dream. She had to learn that there was more to life than where she had come from, and she had to find happiness within herself. I loved that Qamar stressed to her the importance of being able to make YOURSELF happy. He couldn't do that for her.
With that being said, I still left this story feeling like Qamar had SO MUCH going on for a 20/21-year-old. There were so many damn kids, so much responsibility. He was such a stand-up young man, but Jenay would have had to go. She was unnecessary drama. There were a couple of loose ends and some editing issues (if you care about that sort of thing).
I said it once and I'll say it again - French has the story!! I really felt like this second book should have been his and the last book Qamar's (it would have given him some more time grow up). Overall, I enjoyed the story - I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it either.
I just have to mention - the argument between Qamar and Solar broke my heart but I love that the author showed that this family still has issues just like everybody else.

This book was an emotional rollercoaster, for real. The story took you to soaring heights and then plunged you into the depths of despair with each character. I’m glad we focused on Q and Sia, and I enjoyed the cameos from our favorite characters from previous books. However, I had to give it 4 stars because, while more might unfold in French and Solar’s book, Q didn’t quite step up as much as I hoped.
As the youngest child, I could relate to Q in some ways, but his poor decision-making continuously lost me. We spent 60% of the book with him lamenting about feeling suffocated and overwhelmed, yet he was the only one forcing himself into uncomfortable situations. He stayed in school even though he didn’t want to, took on fatherhood for a child who wasn’t his, and dragged Sia into a messy situation—all of which were self-inflicted. He claimed to be grown-up, but when it was time to take action and enforce boundaries, he fell short.
I commend him for stepping up for Janay, but his approach was sloppy. He shouldn’t have agreed to that situation, especially since he didn’t even like her. His relationship with Sia did blossom beautifully, but it started off messy, and he had her looking crazy at times. He claimed to love and cherish her while throwing her into a chaotic situation because of his unresolved trauma and some lingering animosity toward his family.
French was open and honest about his trauma, struggles, and insecurities, yet Q’s response was to reassure him he’s perfect? Seriously, read the room. French is sharing something deeply personal, and all Q can say is that he’s still perfect in his eyes—even though Q is struggling to maintain a facade of perfection himself. The slight mockery of therapy was off-putting; French wanting to improve himself for both himself and Solar was commendable, not something to be dismissed.
Additionally, the book didn’t show Q’s family really coming down on him or overwhelming him. Yes, Luna raised her voice about school, but given their accepting nature, all he needed to do was communicate his plans. His blowout with Solar was unexpected, and she didn’t seem to face the full consequences of her actions. I dislike when characters are rude or messy, and everyone just dances around it with a “that’s just them” attitude. It was disappointing to see Solar go out sadly toward Sia, and we didn’t fully understand the reason behind her behavior.
Q could’ve explained the situation with Janay better, but he didn’t, leading everyone to assume the worst. The tension between him and Solar felt disproportionate, although Q did call her out, which I appreciated. Still, Solar’s tendency to be sharp-tongued but sensitive was frustrating. If your issue is with your brother, why are you taking it out on Sia? Solar owed Q and Sia an apology—she pushed him and then cried when he retaliated.
Q never showed he had a plan or was ready to be the man he was complaining about wanting to be. He seemed to fly by the seat of his pants while relying on his family’s support. It left me wondering: Does he want to be the man who lives life on his own terms or the baby they’re afraid to let go of?
I also wished we had more insight into Sia’s experiences beyond being the damsel in distress. How was she working through her grief and abandonment? The “give me a baby” subplot felt out of place, especially considering their vulnerable state. While it was great that things worked out in the end, it seemed like sex was used as a solution to many issues, rather than addressing them more deeply.
Overall, this was a phenomenal book about overcoming trials and tribulations, showcasing how love can triumph when the foundation is solid. It also highlighted the importance of family and how an anchor and a dream can lead to unimaginable success and joy.

Loving...beyond the stars

Qamar is all grown up and life is kicking him in the azz. His family is the epitome of black excellence and the pressure they have put on him for THEIR dreams is relentless. One night unknowingly he finds peace in the beautiful slanted eyes of Siasia. While their meeting isn't ideal he feels a connection to her that feels like home. Despite him being a selfless, sweet, giver his life came with a LOT of baggage. Between his baby mamas, his children, and his demanding family she didn't see where she would ever truly fit in. The truth is she was scared. Having watched her mother in a dysfunctional relationship she was sure he would grow tired of her. However, despite the messiness of both of their lives, the one thing Qamar was sure about was his future with Siasia.
His family whom held him in high regard, could not understand how he was moving and because he was moving with his heart he wounded some relationships temporarily. Siasia wanted badly for their love to be real...beyond the stars, but she just wanted to protect her heart because she had fallen so deep already so she found herself constantly trying to run away when things got tough.
This book is how black stories should be told. I could vividly picture what the characters looked like and all types of melanin jumped off the pages. The words they used, the gestures they made, the songs they referenced made it very clear that they could've been my cousins from around the way.
I loved:
*Noodle, she was literally everything. Even though life was hard I still felt her innocence, Evelyn did such a good job with her character.
*The scene in the restaurant, because it just felt so damn romantic and Siasia deserved to be loved out loud.
*Qamar, he was really a highlight for me. The way he selflessly embraced Belinay and Noodle.
* French, I loved his vulnerability and his unwavering love for Solar and everything that came with her. His special relationship with Qamar was just 😩🥹
I felt like in a way Qamar wanted to mirror his actions.
* Jay, because he was still a solid azz 🥷🏾 and I liked him from the first book. The little bit of peace they shared with him and his wife. The serenading just yes.
* Lastly Siasia, she was a beacon of light for girls that are doing all they can to be free to love and find happiness despite their circumstances. she was a runner, a track star but when she finally took off those shoes she was able to live.
There were some rough moments that truly broke my heart, but I truly appreciated the arc of the story.
I will say this book could have used some editing. There were silly grammatical mistakes made throughout 🥴

Beyond The Stars” picks up six years after “To The Moon,” it was just what I needed and more. In this story, Qamar is a twenty-year-old soccer phenom with the world’s weight on his shoulders. Siasia is a “get it by any means necessary” woman with a devastating home life. Evelyn’s ability to craft a thought-provoking story with the right amount of angst, emotion, and resolution is stellar. The words flow like a song and become addicting. When characters are complex, with unimaginable upbringings and resilience, I instantly gravitate to their story and become emotionally invested. Stories like this are healing my childhood.

This is only my second read by Evelyn Latrice, and this book definitely makes me want to explore more of her work. Not just about these characters, but more from her entire catalog. The way the chemistry between these characters leaps from the pages tells me there's something special about her writing. I loved the evolution of these characters; it was a bit toxic but romantic nonetheless. A five-star read for me!

3.5 stars 🌟 A girl who trying to survive for her and step sister and a boy who doesn’t feel like he has his own identity finding each other, this sorry was messy he has two baby mommas bm 1 is chill and he’s friend bm 2 was working on my nerves 😒 her runnning every damn chance she got is fucking annoying , the daddy nickname outside the bedroom 🥴 and the slapping in the face during sex huge turn off but anyway good end I definitely liked book one more

Beyond the Stars
Overall I enjoyed the book I came to this one immediately after To The Moon so it was nice to catch up with the family. This may contain a spoiler but I didn’t really like or understand the Janay situation. It felt forced and she felt forced on the readers. Why did it have to be such a secret to the rest of the family, esp bc Janay gave him so much hell throughout the book. It didn’t show that Qamar was a stand up guy bc he showed that in other ways it just seemed unnecessary and she got off Scott free for the chaos she caused. Nonetheless, the family keeps growing and I’ll be tuned into the next adventure with the fam. To the moon always!

Oh…my heart. Little Qamar isn’t little anymore. This book definitely drove home the reality that children who grow up in hostile environments don’t have the ability to be children for long. The blow up between the siblings was astronomical but love can conquer all.
I’m mad that the next book is only available in paperback so I had to put the series on pause until it comes on.

4 stars ⭐️ This lady really knows how to write a story! These characters had so much going on it wasn’t even funny…okay it kinda was. But this book also raised my cortisol levels and redirected any real-life stress I had towards agonizing over Qamar and Siasia. Qamar was….doing A LOT. When the baby was born??? I was like baby what are you doingggg lol it was a whole mess and a half but I was eating it up, I ain’t even gonna hold you. All things considered though, I understood his frustrations with how his family was treating him. Like do you want me to be a grown up or do you want to keep telling me what I should and shouldn’t be doing and passing judgment on every decision that I make? The only family member from the previous book that I liked when dealing with Qamar was French. I love that man. Qamar also grew on me to be fair, even as discombobulated as his plans or lack thereof seemed.
Siasia reminded me a lot of Luna for how she was a caretaker for Noodle and how she sacrificed for her family at immeasurable costs. I liked that eventually she had some kind of friendships but I didn’t like that all her friends ended up being Qamar’s people. It seemed like she was very dependent on him for her safety, her livelihood, her education, her friendships and everything in between. I also understood her frustration of not feeling like a priority when she needed him the most. I think they did their best all things considered but if I’m honest…Qamar shouldn’t have pursued her as quickly/soon as he did.
All in all, I am so glad to be back in this world with these characters and I enjoyed this page-turner of a book. It is messyyyyy and dramatic but it was a fun read for sure. Looking forward to diving into book 3 (Noodle’s book) soon.

Have y’all ever read a book and before it even ended you knew it was a 5 star read?!? Yea this book was that for me. This read just felt deeper. More emotional. Not too much drama. Instant connections between 2 people who find home in each other. Qamar & Siasia needed each other to grow. It was an emotional ride reading this but they made it beyond the stars. I loved the instant connection. There were moments where I teared up. I loved their little family too! ❤️❤️

I really loved the first book in this series so had high expectations. I found the MCs to be super immature (they were like 20 years old so not surprising) & their love story was not as believable to me as the MCs in the first book (Luna & Javen). I don’t think the FMC in particular was that fleshed out- mostly she had a hard life with a lot of responsibilities and that’s it.
Made me interested to read some of the other books in the authors catalogue (Jay’s and Three’s books) but otherwise mostly forgettable

Evelyn has done it again baby. Again reading this story had me feeling all the feels. I NEEDED Siasia to move around Ally and then I WANTED Siasia to do Ally like she did Janay. Then of course Qamar has so much trauma and wants to share the love to make sure everyone has what he didn't that he ended up in a situation where he made a promise that he most likely shouldn't have.
Siasia: Being brought up in a home where your perception of love is warped and trying to find a way to reduce all tension and create some sort of peace. Siasia couldn't even prioritize herself or set herself up for the most success because all she wanted was to see her Noodle happy and safe.
Qamar: Trying to live up to the expectations everyone had for him and falling deep into that feeling of imposter syndrome. All Qamar wanted was to pave his own way and give everybody he encountered a piece of happiness including that Janay (rolls eyes).
Now I know ya'll love to tussle but I KNOW Janay moreso wanted Qamar because his family was well off and had that dynamic (IYKYK). BECAUSE if she wanted a two parent home like she claimed, she wouldn't have let Qamar do all he was doing.

Happy to be back continuing the 8th wonder series. While book 1 caught me off guard and took me some time to get into, I was better prepared for book 2.
Book 2 is Qamar's story, in book 1, he is the youngest brother and seemed liked the one that had the most growing up to do. Fast forward to the present, he is in college, working towards his dreams of becoming a soccer player. This was entertaining/messy right from the start, because what do you mean that baby Qamar, already has 2 baby mommas?? I am starting to appreciate how complex these characters are in this series. You have 2 people trying to deal with their childhood traumas, grief while having a vision of what life could be for them in the future with each other by their sides. From the moment Qamar locked eyes with the FMC Siasia, he knew it was her for him. Even though from the outside looking in all people see is potentially her become another baby momma number. Siasia has had to witness so much in her life, that she thinks using her body is the only thing she is good at. Qamar sees her different than everyone else and pushes her to her dreams. Both of them dealing with challenges along the way to get to their HEA.

It was interesting seeing Qamar all grown up in this one. We got to see him in a different light and he was still coming into his own. He made some decisions that weren't the best but it was nice seeing him step up. That said, he also had a savior mentality kind of like how Javen had in To The Moon when he first met Siasia and while she was skeptical with giving him the time of day at first i was happy she did. She didn't take no mess but she was also the kind of girl he needed because she didn't play any games and it was nice seeing his interactions with her and her sister Noodle.
Although I enjoyed seeing him be a family man and still watch out for Siasia, I felt at times there was so much drama thrown in the mix to try to keep them apart. Janay was annoying and I really didn't see how she couldn't see that he didn't want her and it was like she was trying to use her situation thinking he would want her back. Then once things died down with that, we had the situation with Siasia's mother and then Solar. I appreciated that they were able to overcome the odds stacked against them to make it work but it just seemed like so much was thrown at them and had me questioning at times if it was really necessary. Also, I thought we would have seen more of him in his element with the soccer since that was his thing.

Along the way, he meets Siasia, the woman who becomes the love of his life. Siasia is carrying her own heavy load as the protective big sister, constantly putting everyone else before herself. Together Qamar and Siasia push through the DRAMA and eventually make it.
While the story often feels like kids raising kids, it also strongly emphasizes the importance of education, entrepreneurship, independence, and just as importantly having a village to lean on when you need support. Overall I enjoyed it but I loved To The Moon more.

Man what a ride! Listen I swear this book stressed me OUT! Qamar at the age of 20 was going through it! You hear me! THROUGH it! Siasia stressed me too! Overall, I like the fact that Qamar was finally able to make the decisions he wanted and not being told by his family on what to do! I will say is that argument with Solar was rough! Like they was cutting deep! Looking forward to see what’s next for this crazy family! Enjoying this series!

This will be a rambling review, but I have so many thoughts on this series.
I love the fast forwarding of the storyline, but between the grammar issues and unaddressed plot lines- Qamar’s story was a bit all over the place.
My thoughts are similar to other reviews I read. Siasia and Qamar were cute, I just wished we would’ve gotten more of them succeeding together. Rather than 1 chapter at the end focused on their success. It would’ve been nice to read more of their time in the limelight and seeing him show his family his plan.
I did not like the way the argument and resolution between him and Solar. I actually read the argument again, just to make sure I didn’t miss anything. Especially after they finally addressed the conflict and he apologized. I get he spilled her secrets, but what confused me is- why wasn’t her behavior ever addressed. She started the whole thing- beginning with her talking ish about him prior to him overhearing her comments. Even French was telling her to chill.
I agreed with him, she started it and didn’t expect him to match her energy. I hate when someone tries to police the reaction of others, but they were the match that sparked the flame. And to be honest it was the handling of that situation that dropped my rating of the book.
I love this group of people, but I’m still not feeling Solar. And I do think French deserve more. He’s accepting poor behavior because of his own childhood ish.
Meanwhile, I loved the way Q and S’s relationship unfolded, just wish some of the elements surrounding them had been revealed. What was the reason for him stepping up with Janay? He was taking all this heat from everyone about having 2 kids and one literally wasn’t his. Why wasn’t that mentioned? Janay was acting out and doing the most and behaving as if he HAD to do something. He was choosing too, but the reader never learns the why.
Also, the filler subplots were lacking. Brendan, Ally, Champ… none of it served a purpose.
I was hoping it was going to be a rags to riches for Siasia story, with a mix of celebrity romance- as they both rose in popularity/ stardom.
I’m still locked in with the series. I think I’m skipping French and Solar. That whole argument really irked me. Plus if it’s true, she was cheating on French after all they went through in book 1. I’m going to be done with her.

I wanted to like this more because i loved the first book but i couldn’t. I kind of didn’t want Qamar and Siasia together. Not because of her life or anything but the connection just wasn’t there. Also, her constantly back and forth with wanting to be with him or not and him constantly having to run behind her and reassure her annoyed me. Then for her to want him to impregnate her just off the reason because she didn’t feel included was crazy when he had been constantly putting her on a pedestal. I wanted to know more about her prostitution? And where did her friend who really wasn’t her friend Ally go? Qamar didn’t seem to have absolutely nothing figured out and I still don’t feel like he was able work out his issues especially with his family. Which might i add was a total 360 of how they was acting towards Qamar as if they forgot how they came up. The only time Siasia was there for Qamar is when they had sex. Other than that all she did was add more fuel to the fire. Didn’t get to see any real growth…

I’m really feeling this family and their children. The insta love in this book really didn’t even bother me. So happy to see Qamar finding his place and standing as an adult making his own decisions. I hate the way they made Siasia seem like she was a prostitute but as she said in one part of the book there was really only one guy that was paying for her time like that, and she alluded to trying it with a couple guys but I guess not really feeling it like that. I think the next book is about Noodle and I’m sure it’ll be a nice read

Not as good as the first book . I think the opportunity was missed to discuss how siasia and luna have so much in common and the reason he see’s her.
