Die Erzählungen "Der Glasmensch" entwickeln ihre Szenarien spielerisch und sind mit größeren Ökologieproblemen und den Zweifeln und inneren Konflikten des einzelnen verknüpft.
This book was hit and miss for me. This was a collection of science fiction short stories, some of which I really enjoyed (Der Sturmwart, Biosphere IV, Die Sonde as well as the title story Der Glasmensch). Others (Lizzy X, Charly 2000) were absolutely dreadful. In many of the stories it was difficult to tell when the characters were experiencing reality and when they were hallucinating, which was a quirky theme the author seemed to enjoy. Most science fiction stories tend to revolve around external power struggles (humans against each other, humans against nature, humans against aliens). In this book the struggles all seemed to be internally focused, with the characters struggling against themselves. Most of the stories featured people facing tests of mental and spiritual endurance as they ventured into space for the first time. The overall mood was quite dark and raw, with all the glamour of space peeled away. This was an interesting read overall, even considering the stories I found to be duds.
