Mother Nature isn't always the victim of Man's greed. Sometimes she strikes back. College students Dan Lewis and Mary Starkweather enter Yellowstone National Park on a clandestine adventure to poach elk antlers. While traversing the backcountry, they stumble upon an escaped prisoner who will do anything to keep his freedom. Mary blurts out she recognizes the man from the previous night’s newscast, and he kills them. Dan and Mary's spirits depart their lifeless bodies and flee. After encountering phantoms like themselves in the wilderness, they realize they’re trapped in an eerie netherworld along with other damned souls from Yellowstone's past paying eternally for their misdeeds against nature. A run-in with a mysterious innkeeper, Belial Knight, is the couple's only hope. Knight claims he can liberate them to the world of the living if they replace the stolen antlers to the distant meadow. But when vicious wolves trail them and a rogue grizzly and once-human adversaries ambush them during their quest, they surmise Knight has tricked them into signing a contract impossible to fulfill. Dan and Mary are in a fight to recapture their mortal lives in COLTER'S HELL, a 70,000 word horror novel.
