But my brutality is just another weapon. A tool I need to survive.
Finding Bea hiding out, weak and desperate, in the back of the car I just towed shouldn’t have made much difference.
Except it did.
She’s broken, abused and scared, running from her newly paroled ex-boyfriend.
It’s been a long time since I’ve had anything to fight for, but if I want Bea all for myself I’ll have to take out the threat.
Bea thinks there’s more to me than just death and mayhem. I think she’s wrong. One way or another, her ex is going to find out just how brutal I truly am.
Rae is a daydreamer, nurse, bookworm, nature enthusiast, wife, momma, animal activist and an optimist. She has lived her entire life in NYC and loves to travel with her family. She believes that sweets should have a larger piece of the nutritional pyramid and that Buffy the Vampire Slayer was one of the best TV shows ever invented. When she is not working as a nurse in her community, she can either be found reading, writing, or taking a walk while listening to music. She has been writing books in her mind for as long as she can remember but decided that maybe there were others out in the world that would find joy in the words she would put down on the page.
This is the first book in the Broken Chains MC series and it starts off with Hook’s story. All of the men in this club are just one step away from being thrown back in prison so they do whatever they can to make sure that doesn’t happen. When Hook’s towing truck picks up a car, he has no idea that a woman on the run is hiding inside it.
When he finds out she is on the run from an abusive ex he does try to stay out of it but there is something about her that makes him want to protect her. Bea does everything in her power to try to stay away from yet another man who wants too “own” her. She’s afraid of bad guys and Hook happens to be a bad guy.
The chemistry between these two weas hot and I loved watching the struggles they both had convincing themselves that they were right for one another. I cannot wait to see what comes with Brick’s story.
She is running from her ex that won’t let her go. He is trying to stay out of the line of the law. Together they can face it all. I am a fan of this author, but this one didn’t check all the boxes for me personally.
Hook spent two bids in prison and met Brick there. Brick told him about his MC, Brutal Chains MC. They are like minded men who are trying to stay out of jail with the backing of all the MC. He's been with them since. The rule is if you go back in you leave your cut because you're done with the club. He has worked himself up to VP. He's happy and plans to stay clean. Bea is on the run from her ex boyfriend. She ignored the red flags until he was dragged away by the police and spent time in prison. Now he's out and coming for her. So sneak herself out of her home and find a place to hide was her agenda. She's hiding in a vehicle under a fleece blanket. She hears a car then footsteps. Someone is walking around the car. She's grabbed a tire iron to protect herself. Then when someone opens the door she jumps swinging. Hook is surprised but manages to get the tire iron away from her. He tells her to leave his property. It's a day later and she is just wandering. She sat for a while and got given money from someone who thought she was homeless. Then she heads to the homeless shelter only to see two men come out who don't belong there. She knows they're there for her. So she runs. She finds shelter in the park and realizes that she needs someone with muscle to protect her. Her next thought is of the man who told her to get off his property. She'll ask him if he knows someone. She watches him from the gate then the two men who are chasing her talk to Hook. He basically tells them he can't give any information. When they leave he goes to get Bea and takes her to the office. He gets some answers from her then tells her to stay in his office. The next day after a talk with Brick he goes to try to do what was suggested. Only the goons got to the cops first. He heads back to Brick and while talking a call comes in about someone breaking into their warehouse. So off they go along with Bea.They get there to find a woman who, after trying to bash Brick's head in, tells them she's looking for her sister. They find her and have to rush her to the hospital and hope they're in time because it looks like she od'd. When they get back to the tow property three goons are there. He sends her to the office and while she watches a fight is ready to start...but 3 guns to one tow chain...not a good match. She finds the phone and hits the speeddial for the MC. She tells the guy on the other end that they need to come help Hook because otherwise he's going to be dead. When the fight is over she decides to go back to her ex because she can't be responsible for anyone dying in his club. Hook is not happy and tells her if he has to he'll tie her up. Well Hook seems to have taken a shine to her and she knows she wants him. But who's going to win? HIm, her, or her ex? A fascinating and rowdy story of a gutsy female and a grumpy ex con MC member.

Hook is a fantastic MC romance which is part of the Brutal Chains MC series. I absolutely love reading MC romances, I find them to be quite entertaining and enjoyable. This book has a marvelous plot, wonderful characters, and the final outcome for the main characters is absolutely breathtaking. This book is the journey of Hook and Bea. The characters are well developed and beautifully executed throughout this amazing MC romance. I absolutely didn’t want to set this book down until I read the last page of the book. This book is amazingly written, well balanced and beautifully executed by Rae B. Lake. Rae B. Lake continues to prove to me what an incredible author she is with each book that I have read by her so far. I do love that Hook and Bea have a happy ending to their amazing journey. This a book that I would most definitely give as a recommendation for anyone who enjoys reading MC romances. I can’t wait to read more amazing books from this author in the future.

Slightly annoyed that he claims her as an old lady, the whole squad knows (but her) she finds out and then he asks her to marry him before they smash again BUT later the whole squad is voting on her being an old lady... why are we going backwards?
also - there is a lady (wendy) who is a side character. they run into her twice during this story. in the epilogue, Brick (pres) says i haven't seen her since we took her to the hospital. thats not true dude. you literally prevented her from getting her fix 😭
I might be going crazy. I did like the story. the premise of a MC crew made of ex cons was cool. I like that their work is all right there. they all seem to have each others back (standard mc). the trouble they wanted to stay away from found them, which leads me to believe the next ones are open to trouble as well and potential for them to run into cops which they need to stay away from - but low key annoyed with the voting on her old lady status after lol
idk if ill gravitate towards the next in the series.

This is the story of Bea and Hook. They meet when he tows her car away and only at the tow yard does he realize that she was sleeping in the car. Bea never thought that she would have to sleep in her car because her ex is out of jail and she is on the run from him. After Hook finds out that she was in the car he sends her away. As soon as she walks away and Hook finds out right after that that there are strange men looking for her. He wants to help and protect her but also has a problem because his MC the Brutal Chains consists of prisoners and they have to keep quiet and not get in trouble with the police. Will he choose Bea and go against the policy of the MC and risk his future there or will he choose the MC? A wonderful story full of suspense, action, danger, romance and enough steam between them.

I enjoy reading MC Romance and this book doesn’t disappoint. I like the idea of convicted felons forming an MC to go straight. Hook is a complicated character with nuances. He believes he is not a good man, but most of the trouble he’s been in has been because he was defending others. His love interest, Bea, is the classic damsel in distress running from an abusive relationship. But they work. It’s not all smooth sailing, as Bea has been hurt by a man who, on paper, is very similar to Hook. She has to fight with her trust issues at the same time that she needs the MC’s help. And the MC itself is very interesting, trying to abide by the law in a society that is against them. Triggers include the Biker’s Trifecta (sex, language, violence), stalking, and kidnapping. Tropes include Damsel in Distress, Abusive Relationship, Ex-Con, Instalove.

Bea's ex has just got out of jail and she is on the run, she is sleeping in her car when it is towed into an impound lot. Hook realizes when he back to his tow yard, there is a woman in the car. He tells her she cannot stay, she leaves on foot. When men come looking for Bea, he knows she is in trouble, he has to help her.
Hook and all the of the Brutal Chains MC have served time in jail for various crimes. The club requires they stay out of trouble or they have to leave. Hook knows he will have to protect Bea at all costs even if it costs him his club.
These two were perfect for each other, he might be a monster but not to her.

Past mistakes catch up to poor Bea. She is hiding out in her car from an abusive ex who is looking for her. Hook is an ex-con who is doing everything he can to stay on the straight and narrow and has a group of brothers in the Brutal Chains MC who help each other. When Bea’s car is towed, her and Hook start off on the wrong foot, but when she needs help, Hook is the one person she runs too.
Bea is sassy and feisty. Hook is misunderstood as he was only convicted because he was defending those who could not defend themselves. Trust issues come into play and lines are drawn. Will Hook and his brothers be able to protect Bea and stay out of trouble?

So, I started reading and I couldn't get into it. The premise of the book sounded promising, but reading about the MC and how if one of them went back to prison, they would have to give up the patch. I know these guys were not one percenters, but come on, y'all don't know how to do things in the morally gray areas? Still, I pushed through it, and it turned out to be pretty decent. It seems they needed to go through everything to realize if you have to get dirty you can only count on your brothers to have your back and trying to stay within the law for an MC was going to be difficult if not impossible. So, I started reading at about the 40% point, and I was still able to comfortably follow the plot just fine, and it turned out to be pretty good.
Hook is the first book in the Brutal Chains MC series. The characters make you feel like the MC series have been around a long time. the storyline is interesting in that the MC is comprised of men who feel they are forced to live on the fringe, but they are good men and quickly find out that is not the case, or should not be. The book has wonderful characters who are predictable as MC members but still surprisingly genuine and relatable. With suspense, drama, very steamy fast-pace romance instalove, action, and more, this book is a page-turner that I read in one sitting.

This was a different take on the MC world but I enjoyed it. At first I was taken aback how if they went back to jail that they handed in their patch. I understood it in a way but at the same time I felt that it made the brotherhood that the men had take a hit, but the author was very good in after everything that Hook and Be a go through she turns things around and changes are made. I loved the suspense and all the things that this couple had to go through as they grew closer together and the brotherhood of this MC. It was a different take on the MC world that I usually read, but now I can't wait to see where this author is going to take us on this new journey.
Hook was amazing I loved that he would do anything for Bea even end up back behind bars and if it wasn't for his quick thinking brother's he probably might have. Bea was the typical girl who gets with the wrong guy and then has to grow up and be tough to make it on the street's and the good guys even though they have been bad in the past end up coping the abuse until the fog clears in the girls eye's, which seems to be the case for Bea. I'm thinking there might be more to their story because her ex was working with someone and we don't hear what happens to them. Can't wait for the next one as it seems the Prez has his hands full.
I usually love this authors work but for some reason (it’s a me thing I am sure) this one just didn’t do it for me.
I wasn’t overly keen on the characters and found the MC premise of ex cons just didn’t work for me, though I did appreciate the authors very different take on the MC trope.
As I said, I usually really like this authors work and I am sure there will be lots of readers who will love it.

This author writes excellent MC stories, which provide insights into the life. The brutal side is always counter balanced with a romantic one. Hook and his MC brothers are all ex cons. All are hardened men, but are running businesses, working for an income. Beating up women is frowned upon and when Bea enters the scene, despite the trouble she is bringing with her, the moral compass can be relied on. An interesting start, and an interesting ending..what will happen next?.

Hook is the first book in the new Brutal Chains MC series. This is a runaway start to the new series that promises to be an interesting journey. This story is about Bea and Hook. They should not fit but they are perfection together. Their first meeting is sparking with mega watt electricity and it just keeps building until they finally shoot for the stars. Along the way we get to meet several of the MC brothers, get to know Bea and Hook better and then experience their perfect HEA. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
I generally LOVE a bit of MC dark romance, but this one just couldn’t seem to hold my attention, and there were a few points there I struggled to get through.
The writing was good, and the plot itself wasn’t bad, it just didn’t engage and consume me. I like a book to suck me in, chuck me around a bit before it spits me out the other end— unfortunately this wasn’t that for me.
3 stars.
I received an ARC for this title in the hopes of my leaving an honest review— which I have supplied, using an opinion that is solely my own.
I have read a lot of different Mc Romances. I believe I have a list of 10 series that I faithfully reread whenever I am waiting for something else to release. This is book one of the Brutal Chains MC and so far, i am waiting for the next. I love how easy it was to read and get pulled in. I love Hood and Cannot wait to see the other guys find their HEA. This series has the potential to join my top list of rereads.

I love when a new series starts, so many new characters to get to know. The plot was entertaining, but the MFC was getting on my nerves! She was so wishy-washy I was getting whiplash trying to keep up with her chaos. Hook and his fellow Brutes are not total MC stereotypes, they each have their demons, but they want to stay on the outside looking in. Nice start to a new crew!.

Hook is book 1 in the new Brutal Chains MC. Hook is the Vice President and this is his and Bea's dark, intense, gritty story. It's a great, fast-paced, one sitting story that quickly pulls you in and holds you there from beginning to end. Hook and Bea are two broken souls who heal each other and find their forever in spite of obstacles that get in their way. I'm excited to see what's in store for us with this new series.
Great story line and characters. Love how Bea is bold and realizes her mistakes when it matters most with her relationship with Hook. Hook has a rough past but making the best of it as the club vp and working as a tow truck driver. The chemistry the characters have really showed in the chapters and left me wanting more of other characters also.

Bea is on the run from her abusive ex, and it leads her to Hook an ex-con trying to stay out of trouble that would lead him back to prison and lose his VP MC position. When he tows her car, it starts their path. He is drawn to Bea but the trouble following her could send him back to prison. Will their relationship grow into one that leads them both to the happiness they never had.

Hook has made some mistakes in his past and is just trying to get by with his towing business and his MC brothers. Bea is on the run from an abusive ex when Hook picks up her car. From the first chapter to the last, their relationship is explosive and all about second chances. This is a fast paced, insta-love romance with tons of action and some steamy parts. Great start to a new series.

Quick read. Flowed very quickly What a start to this series as well as to this particular story. Love the meeting of Bea and Hook, from the get go there was swinging. They each had trust issues from previous experience but something within their make up they seemed to sense that they could trust each other after their initial problems with her ex and the MC family stuck with Hook once she became his ol’ lady. Anxious to see what happens next with the Brutal Chains MC-Brick!!!!!
WOW, What a great read!! Hook and Bea's story has a bit of everything from great banter, to steam, action and brothers who have your back. Being an ex con and turning a new leaf Hook is doing everything he can to stay on the straight and narrow. Bea is on the run, she's sassy, scared. I loved how these two clicked when they were on the same page. I can't wait to see who falls next.
Bea is hiding out from her newly released ex bf, when Hook tows her car. He's never been drawn to anyone like he does Bea and he will protect her at any cost. Well written engaging steamy desires, protective and more.

The MC sure has a twist to it, any member goes back to jail they loose their patch. The characters are already rough before the joined but trying to make a new life as ex-cons. This is a passionate romance with conflict, danger, kidnapping, excitement and bonding. Enjoyable page turner with a fast flow!.

Another home run for Ms. Lake. The characters are both trying to come to terms with their pasts, and forge a better future for themselves. Hook and Bea get off on the wrong foot, but are soon working towards their own future. Past mistakes and danger comes calling and almost derails what they are trying to build. The MC comes together to protect their own and helps Hook make sure he keeps Bea.
Afternoon spent reading this book. The story had a good flow and was well written. Lots of action and intrigue for readers. There was steamy chemistry between the couple. I can't wait to read the next book.
