Demon World Boba Shop #4

Demon World Boba Shop: Vol. 4

Rate this book
Brick by brick, Arthur and his friends have made Coldbrook into their new home. But can it survive a monster wave? It’s going to take everyone and everything for Coldbrook to weather this storm.

When Arthur first arrived on the Demon World, he couldn’t have possibly imagined that one day he would be leading his own town against a horde of monsters. As he works with Coldbrook residents to build up its defenses, he’s getting help from unexpected places. Like he was promised, the Demon World is a nice place and even in the most dire of circumstances, he can still find that promise of nice coming true.

The fourth volume in a cozy, slice-of-life series, Demon World Boba Shop has been described as “BEST BOOK OF THE PAST DECADE.” We agree.

Arthur and co. are all settled into their new home as they must face their greatest challenge yet: defeating the monster wave coming their way. Arthur must also make some decisions about the roles he’s been thrust into vs. the roles he wants for himself.

I don’t even have words for the coziness that is these books. There’s problems and resolutions, love and community, all the things, but I feel like the real gem here is the strength of the characters Joshua has written, and also the fact that these books defy regular descriptors; you just have to read them, and enjoy.

After detours of adventure and Arthur's sometimes overpowered ability to resolve conflicts, we finally get back to basics of relaxed coziness and boba tea. I was very pleased to see Arthur step back from certain duties, while his friends and others were able to step up even more. The importance of friendship, ever present, is always at the heart of this series.

It's so nice to be able to slip back into the cozy slice-of-life adventure that is in Coldbrook. But this time you'll find that the town is busy because the moratorium that's kept them safe has finally expired. And the towns people are gonna be facing their first monster wave. But Arthur's like the nucleus, or maybe a vortex if you will. Because everything's circling around him and thus it makes the town of Coldbrook a brighter, more productive, and safer place to live in. While Daisy and Rumble really weren't monster companions they're more like friends to Arthur and by extension the town of Coldbrook, and indeed friendships in the Frontier are not to be squandered. You might even go so far as calling them Monster Guardians.
So grab the book to see if Arthur can survive the wave and turn the town into the bustling city that it needs to be. But first the monster wave! Get a cup of Boba Tea a enjoy yourself.

I love this series but as a fellow writer I loved the advice at the end most

So this has become one of those unexpected gem series for me. It’s so easy to read and not feel like my anxiety is going to kick in at any moment cause some crazy drama could occur at any moment. Things happen and I had no clue how it would turn out but I didn’t feel anxious about it. I was just like Arthur in okay so what happens will happen and I’ll be okay with it. If there was a world portal right now and I had the choice to do to try demon world I would be through the portal soooooo fast you will wonder if I got a speed stat increase before I even got the system.
So much love for this excellent read. I’m recommending it every one.

Now the writing advice at the end is so timely for my current save point in life that I feel a touch of the system coincidence. Thank you for the share and I’ll will hold the advice close.

Two books in one!

This was a fun book to read. I made all kinds of notes and comments while reading it, it was interesting. The characters are developing and Coldbrook is growing. I like the way we get glimpses of the system and how the world works. Milo and his inventions are a bit of a stretch but that’s ok.

My strongest comment is that this should be at least two books. All the preparation for the monster wave, the wave itself and the recovery afterward should have been one book.

All the miscellaneous stuff that happened afterwards needs something to tie it together. The election just isn’t enough to carry the last half the book, and doesn’t tie in well with the first half.

Looking forward to book five!

Cheers!

Still going strong

Was reading a different series by a different author and I was about four books in. My attention had drifted and I ended up reading just for the sake of reading. Got an alert that this book finally was released stopped in mid-series from the other one, it did take how a second to figure out what I was reading or where I was in the series so I had to read the last chapter of book 3 as a refresher, but definitely was a good read and if you enjoyed the first book you'll enjoy one through four.

You would think establishing a frontier town would be more interesting... and indeed it would have been, if the stakes were a tiiiiny bit higher or any kind of challenges were elaborated upon instead of "oh, it just works, because we got good specialists". The monster wave was such a non-issue too.

Mizu storyline was the only interesting part and even that was mostly ok.

I am glad the protagonist is going back to doing more tea than town stuff, since I really missed new tea flavor explorations.

I Voted

Many people today will have some sort of connection to or against the phrase “I Voted.” And if you are like me and trying to escape the anxiety of the world then I hope you also vote to just read this book. Sometimes the right message is hidden in demon world boba. Without spoilers I can say that today the message I take away is that regardless of the turbulence outside, casting a vote for a better world in one of the most delightful books is never the wrong choice.

awesome

This story line it’s normally not what I read. But the story flows so nice. and there it’s just so much character improvement and feels good in these series that I equate it to relaxing. It’s really nice.

3.5 ⭐️ Another hilarious and fun read. I can't wait for the next book to see what Arthur gets up to in the capital city. The man really just wants to live his life in a small town surrounded by friends and make tea

Awesome Series

Awesome book, just awesome. I love how each book has a story arch and is finished by the end, then you get a hint of what the next adventure will be about. So well written.

As this series goes on, I sometimes get bored as the character never really advances but I still find it fun to read.

This book had a weird flow issue. It reads like a book and then a huge epilogue. There is a lot of build up to a momentous even that resolves half way through.

Exciting start with a well rounded end

I loved the unique plot of this book. The exciting front and the slow end. Admittedly, my reading slowed down with the plot, but I also love low stakes so I'm not knocking it.

It’s still interesting and sweet. It’s a good story to fall asleep to at night. I did find myself getting distracted and reading other things at times because the story feels so low stakes I wasn’t fully motivated to finish it quickly. Excited to see them going to the capital!

Yup, this is definitely one of my all time favorite series. I can't put them down and I don't know what I'm going to do with myself when I have to say goodbye to this world and these characters I've grown to love so much.
