I dedicate myself to accompany people (individually or in groups) to create possibilities to transform their lives. I have studied the change from different perspectives and scientific disciplines. I am a Psychologist, with specialization in Psychodrama and Systemic Therapy. Later I dedicated myself to work in organizations where I addressed strategic aspects of people's performance. One of the most significant issues in the dynamics of the groups was in uncertainty. I completed a Ph.D. in Communication where I addressed the "management of uncertainty." To address this issue, I delved into other scientific disciplines such as Quantum Physics, Chaos Theory, and Complexity. These disciplines gave me a new frame of reference to understand the dynamics of a late century (which was beginning to generate its first turbulence) and its effects on the lives of people both individually and corporately.
For more than ten years I have worked on strategic projects in unstable contexts. When addressing these technical aspects, a key challenge in my professional career appeared: How to deal with the emotions of change? How to face the new in our lives? Interested in the world of emotions, I did a postgraduate in Neuroscience to understand the neurobiology of emotions. Since then and for more than ten years I have worked in the emotional conditions of change. In this process, I have designed tools to tackle complex decisions in different areas. I have created a different perspective about change, about the development of people, and how to deal with oppression and symptoms. The result of all these years of research is summarized in the following statement: How to transform suffering or inertia into a new inspiring horizon for our lives.
This book uses many of the principals taught in the 70’s encouraging the reader to engage in self assessment and to develop an ability to distinguish types of communication and connections. The first 3 chapters encourage the reader to conduct an internal dialogue and provided with pdf and audio files to facilitate a greater awareness of internal processes and perceptions. Strategies for reframing and eliminating toxic internal messaging help the reader identify and manage their with their internal critic and establish constructive internal dialogue. After covering the internal communication and assisting the reader with developing positive affirmations and self supporting strategies the book moves on to the complex and challenging interpersonal communications and intimate connections. The reader is encouraged to determine the type of connections that they desire and to take measures to ensure safe and affective communication. Various levels and styles of communication are encouraged. Techniques shared and taught focus on empathy, non-judgmental communication and boundary setting. This book builds upon the active listening and i messaging to facilitate meaningful connections. It covers intimate connections as well as social communication.
This book provides valuable tools and would be invaluable for those struggling with interpersonal relationships as well as those who struggle with a negative self image.
Review of Change Your Life Now, Challenging Negative Self Talk: Clear Your Thinking With Positive Thoughts to Achieve Self Development by Marcelo Manucci.
This short book is well written, easy to understand, informative, and practical.
The book explains how much the words we use in our self-talk matter; they actually cause physiological changes in the brain that affect us positively or negatively. Manucci not only gives suggestions on how to transform your self-talk, but also provides insight into improving relationships with others, protecting your peace, how to have difficult conversations and more.
The author provides links to files (one is a workbook) that can be downloaded to reinforce the readers' understanding of the material and allowing a chance to immediately apply the material to personal situations.
I found this book to be quite helpful and recommend it.
I received this book in exchange for giving my honest review.
“Language doesn’t just mirror your inner world, it actively shapes it.”
I felt that this quote was a great representation of what you get when you read it. It is full of insight into how we can challenge all our negative self talk and toxic narratives, and switch them to positive ones.
The book comes with a QR code which links to a bunch of visualization exercises you can do at the end of some of the chapters. They are very relaxing, quick meditations. I think that is a really nice extra you get with this book.
Overall I did rate it high because i think it can help a lot of people. You don’t have to be spiritual to get these concepts. It’s easy to understand.
I am one of the millions who seem to have a constant chatter rattling in my head and am prone to replaying the thoughts that I instinctively know are unproductive. This book does a great job of explaining the neurological and psychological processes of the brain regarding the effects of our self-talk and looping. More importantly, it provides tools and examples to form more positive habits and productive alternatives. I have already caught myself in a thought loop and taken action to correct it in the moment. The author also provides recommendations for apps and websites to further aid in establishing healthier outcomes.
As someone who has always struggled with negative self talk, I found this book to be a great guide in controlling those feelings. I absolutely loved that the author included a workbook. But not only did he do that but as you're reading he adds what page in the workbook to use. This feature alone was game changing. The tone of the book is understanding and overall easy to read and implement the techniques. Anyone who struggles with negative self talk definitely needs to read this book.
I really enjoyed this book for people looking for self development. It tackles a lot of items that should help battle negative thinking. I really like the neurotransmitter portion.
This book targets those struggling with negative self talk. It illustrates how to replace negative talk with positive thoughts to help with personal growth.
