I’m a husband and author, and I may be a little religious about both. I like writing hot sex and encapsulating it in the delicate white silk of devotion, commitment, and psychotic obsession.

The ties that bind.

This one took me a bit to get into, but once I felt it picked up, then it was a good read to me. Traps and Gretchen are fighting their attraction for each other because they don't think...oops I almost gave it away. Fatey and Farkle have a lot to figure out. But will they?

Powerful. Intense. Beautiful. Painful.

I ended up reading this book three times before writing this. I had to make sure it was as powerful, intense, and as beautiful as the first time I read. Then, I read it again just because I wanted to. The pain, of both Traps and Gretchen, was palpable. I hurt so badly for both of them. Their story is so intense, so powerful, and beautiful. I cried each time I read it. I knew it would be great. It’s a Lucian Bane book. So how could it not be? He puts his heart and soul into his writing. Traps and Gretchen’s story surpassed my expectations. I dry highly recommend this book.

In a world shadowed by their respective traumas, Trap and Gretchen's love story unfolds as a poignant journey of healing and redemption. Both have endured their own painful darkness—Trap, haunted by past mistakes and guilt, and Gretchen, burdened by grief and isolation. Their paths converge with the roll of the dice. It ignites a war of hope, leading them to discover solace in each other's vulnerabilities. As they learn to navigate their scars together, their connection deepens, illuminating the way toward a shared future where love becomes the catalyst for transformation, proving that even the deepest wounds can be healed through the power of compassion and understanding. This is the first novella of the Bayou Bishops, an incredible series blending scorching romance and intrigue against a backdrop of deep swamp charm and mystique…stay tuned, there will be more.

Ties that bind

So intense and powerful. So full of emotion and feelings. I feel like I just ran a mile and I'm winded. The true power of love doesn't just happen gently or softly in a lot of cases. It is painful and ugly in some cases but if love is true and really there, it will find a way. Thank you Lucian.

As a KU reader I get the pleasure of reading books for free. The first 16 books in this series played true to the narrative for the most part then book 17 went off track along with book 18 bringing previously unfinished works into the mix. Now with book 19 the title leads the reader into a false since of hope that the series would get back on track; however I’m sad to sad it is not it’s more about bring the old series back to life than finishing the Bayou.
If you’ve read any of Bane’s previous works you understand we have been waiting on multiple series to be finished. Sadly it looks like this series will be the same.

'Traps & Gretchen' is the first "Bayou Bishops Novelle" and the nineteenth book within the "Bayou Bishops series. Up to this point, we've gotten intense stories; some of it was personal about the couples, but there was always a bigger plot and storyline that it was worked into. This is personalized. These are those moments when they're face to face, no one else is there, what in the world do we do now moments. Traps and Gretchen have hit that point. Four weeks of each of them being overwhelmed by their want for each other, yet the fear that takes over is covered with anger. Four weeks of wondering what was coming next. All this until Traps called Fetch for help. This was so in-your-face painful, heart-wrenching, consuming, and romantic that it took my breath reading it. In my opinion, Lucian Bane has always been an excellent storyteller but I think he has outdone himself with each book in this series. What a representation of what to expect with the nouvelle he has planned for each couple. I'm blown away.

FROM HELL TO HEAVEN AND HOME

Ohhhhh my Goddess! How can I explain my love for this story? I read the book in 3 hours, and I couldn't put it down. Each chapter fed into the next like the traps he set for his Bee-shjoo. From the moment you step into their house, you feel the pain and despair, the heat and passion as Traps and Gretchen fight to find the love of their lives.

Lucian Bane, you have done it again. You created a masterpiece that takes us to the pit of darkness to raise us up to the pinnacle joy. You wrap us around the journey home for two souls we can't help but love.

Ohhhhh and the poem! Ahhhhhh, you, sir, are a balladeer of gargantuan proportion. The depth of Traps' love for Gretchen is so apparent in those words that the coldest heart would melt in a sea of passion.

Thank you again for mesmerizing my mind and heart in a world crafted with genius.

Genuinely Beautiful

Absolutely blown away, this is beautifully crafted novella set in the world of The Bayou Bishops.

Telling the love story of Traps (Neelo) and Gretchen. As The Twelve ended their self imposed celibacy and started to find wives a handful of the men remained. With no obvious candidates to court and choose from they decided to roll the infamous Fate Dice to choose their brides. The news of this decision was received poorly by their new wives. As the saying goes “Be careful what you wish for”.

Gretchen was distraught and angry and had no idea if Traps even liked her, is it any wonder she felt angry he made her feel like an afterthought.

There’s a whole world of living and experience within these pages. It’s a short read but meshes beautifully with the rest of the series. Highly recommend!!

This one pulls at your Heartstrings!

I have been reading the Bayou Bishop's series since the beginning, and this is a special treat by my favorite author. The story behind Gretchen was so much more involved, and so heartbreaking, that I found myself sobbing for her pain, and Traps was beside himself with a rage for how the she was treated and how it's affected her whole personality. This is the first of Lucian Bane's Couples Nouvelles, and I think it was a smashing success. Traps is a very secretive, and private individual, and the dramatic and painful scene to save her is a total heartbreaker. Beautifully written, and so worth reading. I highly recommend the whole series, as well as the Author.

Traps and Gretchen, aCouples Nouvella.
I am a huge Lucian Bane fan and have read several of his stand alone novels a few other series and of course the Bayou Bishops Book Series. Traps is one of the Bishops 12 and he is a bit of a broken man. Gretchen is his wife, they are newly married and nagavating life. Theirs is a beautiful love story, two broken people who come together and love and heal each other. This is an amazing book, even if you don't read the Bayou Bishops Books (although you should) you will love this one.

Traps and Gretchen: Bayou Bishop Nouvelle 1 Bayou Bishops Book 19

Lucian Bane has another tale of one of the 12. Traps and his rope snares and traps are used to break through to his wife whom he chose with the fate dice. His wife Gretchen, took the news that he rolled dice to pick her, left all her dark past to ride rough shod over her emotions. Can Traps tear done her defenses and find the woman hiding behind her book characters? A short, quick read, but worth the afternoon.

Knots that bind you tovether

Not knowing who she is and him not knowing who he is leads this couple to finding who they are as each other and who they are as a couple. Hiding who you are from the one you love is not the way they wanted to be so they fought together to be what the other needed to be. Very inspiring book. Well written and it grabs at you from the beginning and doesn't let go of you even at the end.

Not a fan of this one.

This book seemed to be written in a rush. It was kinda boring and unrealistic. I’ve enjoyed most of the series but as it carries on book by book, the story is going no where fast and it seems the author things the more unrealistic adjectives thrown in to describe sex the better. All it did was make me roll my eyes and skim over it to get back to what little story there was in this one.

As much as I detested the direction the series has gone, I have to say that I truly liked the core stories about the original Twelve brothers. I've been looking forward to Traps and Gretchen's story and was so glad to finally see it was released.

The roll of dice that led to Traps decisions and the final confrontation of truth is what I loved about this story.

Not my kind of read

I had a hard time following the writing of this book. The words they spoke , the people who were speaking and what they talking about just left me confused.

This is definitely not the books I read. The author is not the problem. Its meant my understanding.

Tragically Beautiful

This story started out with a little humor, which was needed for the emotional toll that came later. Mr. Bane makes so many parts of his characters relatable that you'll find yourself in tears without even knowing it. This love, this union...just beautiful.

Traps is my favorite!

Just the thought of getting tied up with him makes me hot! And all his trap jargon is so so sexy!

Gretchen has a beautiful soul that has been damaged so very badly! Neelo comes and sets her free in his snare!

It’s the 19th book in the Bayou Bishop series about Traps and Gretchen and man is it intense. I liked how Fetch and his woman played apart in bringing her to freedom as well as Handy being just who Handy is. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
