So...3.5

Let me just state this: I love werewolves. I LOVE WEREWOLVES. I do, and its hard to find GOOD werewolf books, that aren't just about sex. Seriously. I don't care if there is sex in a book, I really, really don't mind but when every werewolf book you come across is erotica finding an author who doesn't do werewolf erotica, but does werewolf book is like nirvana.

I have actually read the first series that focuses in on this town, and also the Alpha pair in this book. I haven't finished the series, personal reasons i rather not go into. I will eventually get to them I am sure, but for now I wanted to read this. I was a little worried about spoilers from the first series. I guess I have to say if you have no experience with the first series you wouldn't worry about that, if you haven't, honestly its been awhile but you do find out some things about Ava and Cyrus (the couple from the original series) So that is my thoughts on that.

First thoughts on this book: This was...good. But at the same time I felt it moved maybe a little too fast. I understand the laws of the werewolves in this book, when you find your true mate that is that. Why waste time...right? Idk I thought with the background that was given to Maysie that she caved too early. She was actually not exactly what i was expecting either, i will get to that soon though. I did like the idea of this book, but damn that summary doesn't give you much to go on really. Okay here, I don't like doing synopsis-es and yeah i can't blame the author for not wanting to do it either, but two lines? that is not a lot to go off so here we go:

Maysie and her brother, Elijah, are separated from their mother when they decide to split up to lose her mother's loser ex, who happens to also be a werewolf hunter. Maysie's mother's checkered past with men, has put Maysie in an untrusting position for men, but above all Alphas. Her mother taught her children one thing: Never trust an Alpha. When the siblings make their way to the werewolf town of Paskell, their lives are about to get turned upside down. The siblings make new friends, finally feel at home, and like they belong. Only a sexy Alpha, through and through Gideon sets his sights on Maysie. He knows that she is his and he will do anything to help her realize he only wants to love and cherish her. Will he win her trust and affections?

So there you go. Its not the best but its a little more to go off of.

Thoughts on Plot: Things again just moved odd. I read this really fast actually, I mean I stayed up until i could barely keep my eyes open still trying to read it. But things in the beginning set up so much, so much potential then it took forever for any action to really happen :/ The relationship between Gideon and Maysie too, was glossed over at first, then suddenly Maysie was going to give him a shot and she was already pretty much head over heels. Again, I get it. Werewolves, insta-love go together like peas in a pod. While I do love werewolves, when the true mates idea is done I do like it, but this, idk I wasn't 100% committed to their relationship because of her past, and because I didn't get to really see them grow together. Okay and the villain, we only scratched the surface, even though i felt there was so much more that could have been done in this book. I get it was a set up for a series but with the fact the romance was on the fast track, and everything else was moving a snail's pace it just felt uneven to me. Does that make sense?

Characters:

Maysie: She wasn't really what I was expecting to be honest. When we first meet her she seems hard, and dangerous. She seemed very protective of not only herself but of her brother. That she would be willing to do anything to save them. And while that is true she was also very soft, and delicate. She was emotional - totally understandable - and sort of trusting even considering her past. I really liked that at first she did seem uncomfortable around Cyrus but unfortunately after their first meeting she seemed fine around men even though it seemed that from the little pieces we get of her past, she doesn't and has no reason to trust men, especially werewolf men. I guess that was something else i really wanted to know more about her past, about the other pack she was from originally. She was 13 when they left, i would think she would remember her time there, maybe that is just me wanting to know and its not really relative to the plot.

Gideon: He had a pretty colorful past as well and i felt like a bomb was dropped on us about his past and then quickly glossed over, almost every time until Gideon and Maysie spent a little time together and actually talked. idk it was just a lot to take in and its just...idk. I did like him for the most part though, he was very sweet and knew what he wanted.

Sam: I wasn't really sure how i felt about her to be honest (the mother). I was sort of annoyed with her, but i also wanted to know more about her. I wanted to understand why she was the way she was. I think if I keep going with this particular series i will learn, but for the most part her character in this almost seemed more crazy than protective. If we had the backstory (which if i go off of the one i made up for her) I could understand better.

So will I continue this series? Pro..bably? I guess it really just depends on where the series heads.

4.5 Stars. I loved Hunted! I couldn't put it down!

Maysie, Elijah and Sam are being hunted by werewolf hunters. Sam heads in one direction and sends her kids in the other direction to Paskell.

Sam has not had the best of luck when it comes to men. And because of that she has brought her kids up thinking all Alphas are horrible and mean. She tells them that when you see one, run the other way as fast as you can! So of course when Maysie and Elijah meet Cyrus they are completely scared to death! But Ava and Cyrus treat them like they would any other person in trouble, with love and compassion and do what ever they can to make them feel comfortable.

Ava helps Maysie not only find a job, but a place to live as well. She is able to get Elijah enrolled in school and quickly starts to feel at home in Paskell.

When Maysie first meets Gideon, she doesn't really know what to think. She has never felt the things that she feels towards him so it's totally understandable that she's scared. When he sees her for the first time he instantly knows that she is his mate. But because of her past she is extremely skittish. Gideon is absolutely amazing! He's so patient with her and is totally fine with moving slow until she can wrap her head around the fact that not ALL Alphas are bad!

When Sam finally gets to Paskell she is not happy at what she sees... Maysie kissing Gideon goodnight. There is an almost attack on Gideon and a completely shocked mama who is brought into submission by none other than Maysie! She will do anything to protect her mate! Sam is not happy that Maysie has attached herself to an Alpha and is bound and determined to break them up.

While all this drama is going on, they still have to deal with the hunters. They followed Sam up to Paskell and are very determined to get what they want. Between attacks, abductions and withdrawls, Hunted does not lack in adventure!

I loved meeting all the new characters and also getting reacquainted with old characters from Taming the Wolf series. The set up for the next book in this series has me extremely excited! I can't wait for it to be released! It's going to be amazing... I just know it! :)

4.5 Stars!

This was a good paranormal story, and I liked revisiting characters from the other wolf series this author wrote. The elements of danger and suspense kept my attention and the romance was sweet yet clean.

I was so excited when I found out Ms. O'Guinn had a new werewolf series coming out. Set in the same fun town of Paskell (from Werewolf Dreams) we're introduced to some fun new characters and also reunited with the ones we loved from the previous series. You don't have to read the first series to enjoy this one, it stands well on its own.

Maysie and her brother Elijah are on the run from a werewolf hunter. They've heard stories of Paskell and have travelled all the way from Louisina to hopefully find shelter in this small werewolf town. I love the setting for these two series, I was glad to be back in Paskell and see some old friends. I loved how welcoming everyone was to Maysie and Elijah. Pretty soon after arriving Maysie meets Gideon, who ends up being her mate. I think werewolf stories are the only ones where I can buy into the whole insta-love thing, even though a part of me still thinks things move a little too fast! I liked Maysie and Gideon and thought they had a fun story.

Overall, I thought this was a fun book and I look forward to reading more from the series. Can't wait for the next one!

Content
Romance: Clean (just kissing and clearly waiting for marriage before doing anything else)
Violence: Mild-Moderate

So, I found out after reading this that it is the first book in a series that follows on from the Taming The Wolf series. Did this impact my reading pleasure of the book in hindsight? Absolutely not! If anything, it means that I am intrigued enough in the town of Paskell and its inhabitants that I am planning on getting that series too. This book stands confidently by itself or as the start of a new series, without leaning in any way on previous books.

As for the story itself, loved it. I'm guessing you want more detail than that, right? OK, so the characters are well written and develop throughout the story. Who can't help but want to squidge Elijah with his irrepressible enthusiasm and gangly charm? Maysie is a strong character who has always deferred to her mom as she doesn't have the knowledge herself. However, this doesn't mean that she will just submit when she knows what she's fighting for. And the mom, Sam, I need to hear more about her. I loved how she was prepared to go against the whole town because she was afraid for her daughter. As for her and Harry, I need to hear more!

A wonderful story where men are wolves and women aren't afraid to disagree! And if I ask nicely, please may I have my very own Gideon - pretty please!!!

Classic werewolf romance. Two young people on the run find sanctuary in a shifter town, and one finds a mate. Bad guy chasing them gets eaten but there are more enemies out there. Young woman has to defy her mom to find happiness.
Typos: almost every sentence misused commas (they were either missing or in the wrong place). Random, inconsistent, and incorrect capitalization. Apostrophe s plurals. Homophones mixed up (then/than, rue/roux, too/to, anymore/any more, ). Object was used without being described or stating that it was present ("she grabbed the kit"). Bright used as a verb (He brighted them"). Sentence fragment.

Surprised

I don't normally read books about werewolves but thiamine was free and a surprise. Great mystery with a love story to boot. Can be a stand alone in the series but gives enough hint to the next book to make you want to read it too.

Good

This was a good, rainy day kind of read. It had a solid story and good romance. The most interesting character was the all too brief mama Sam. It flowed and was fine. I enjoyed it.

sweet

This was a sweet story. It some places I thought it was a little over the top. I liked Sam’s character and I want more from her. Maudie was ok but just blah as a character…nothing special. The chemistry felt a little fake not organic. Still a good story

This book had some good things. I really didn't like the relationship part. It was so unrealistic. I also felt like the book was rushed. I liked the suspense part of it
